Summary: In a world full of alphas, betas, and omegas, Detective Elliot Stabler thought he had it all figured out while working for Manhattan SVU, until his Captain introduced him to his new partner. AU starts in season 01, canon except for A/B/O dynamics, Omegaverse.

Chapter 01 Recap: Captain Cragen warns Detective Elliot Stabler in September of 1999, that he's getting a new partner, and this is his last chance to make it work, after all his other partners quit. He introduces him to Detective Olivia Benson, they have an immediate physical reaction to one another. As they get on the elevator together, for Elliot to give her a tour of the precinct, he inhales a little too deeply and quickly realizes Olivia is an Alpha, and he is an Omega, pretending to be a Beta. In their world Omega's both male and female are treated very differently by the rest of society. Male Omega's are bullied and harassed, while female Omega's are coveted and treasured. The same, male Alpha's are known to be rich and powerful, but female Alpha's are said to be bossy and un feminine.

A/N: People seemed intrigued by Chapter 01, so I'm going to continue this. Sorry for the wait, haven't written anything in a month, trying to ease back into this thing called writing.

A/N 2: This story takes place in 1999, just like the real first season of SVU however I'm operating under the assumption that the case in Payback wasn't Benson and Stabler's first case (I always assumed this because how else would Elliot have known about Olivia's history/conception? I doubt it's something she would've shared on their first case together). Flashbacks appear in italics.

Disclaimer: I don't own SVU, only this Omegaverse scenario.

Chapter 02

Saturday Afternoon September 1999, Detective Elliot Stabler's House, Queens, New York City

He sat in his lazyboy watching his children play on a gaming console. Except he wasn't really watching them at all. He had zoned out for the umpteenth time that day. He had been zoning out multiple times an hour since he had last seen her, since he had last smelled her…

Elliot took a deep breath, and although he could no longer pick up her fragrance, a part of him was scared her scent would never leave him again too. It was as if her aroma had imprinted itself, not in his nose, but in his brain, in his heart, and dare he say, in his soul. A soulmate in their world was not a term people threw around, and took lightly. Most people never connected with their soul's mate in their lifetime. He had always thought these people were lucky, just like the stories he'd heard about love bites gone wrong, soulmate tales almost always had a bad ending.

He closed his eyes and leaned his head back against the cushioned chair, recalling what had happened when he met her yesterday.

Elevator, 16th Precinct Manhattan, New York City, September 1999

"Shit," he mumbled when the doors closed, sealing them inside the metal box. He jumped forward, and slammed the button that would take them to the basement, desperate to spend as little time in the elevator with her as possible.

"So ummm, yeah our unit's obviously on the 6th floor, 5th floor is homicide, 4th floor is computer crimes, he continued to explain as they passed the 3rd and 2nd floors, Main floor has your standard-" Elliot began pointing at the different numbers, and letters as the elevator descended, trying his hardest not to breathe in.

Olivia chuckled, "I don't actually need a tour Stabler, maybe you could just show me around the basement, point out the rooms I'll actually need to know?"

Elliot didn't appreciate the way she cut him off, he spun around but was immediately confronted by her warm honey doe eyes.

He grabbed onto the railing, while taking an awkward side step, trying not to drop the file Cragen gave him.

Olivia reached forward to place a hand on his shoulder, hoping to steady him on the spot, but instead she was gasping as he grasped her forearm and tugged, pulling her until her back slammed into the wall.

"What the hell are you playin' at?" Elliot asked gruffly, struggling to keep his breathing normal. He watched in fascination as her lungs expanded, and she took a deep breath. He could pinpoint the moment her lungs filled with his scent, a tremor wracked her body from head-to-toe, her pupils dilated to twice their regular size, she looked high.

His hand tingled from where it had touched her forearm.

"Me? What about you? Can't believe they'd let you work here, especially in this unit with your status?"

Elliot blinked repeatedly, "Wh-what do you mean?"

"A male Omega? Doing a job, working around people who assault Omega's because of their perceived stereotypical weakness? Surprised that's all-"

"Yo-you know I'm an Omega?" Elliot asked, the longer he was trapped in this compartment, the more her scent was beginning to affect him. He stumbled as far away from her as he could, and covered his mouth and nose with his sleeve. He pulled at his tie, loosening the collar of his shirt.

"You're kidding right? Of course I can smell you,"

Olivia stated plainly.

"Nuh-no that's impossible," Elliot declared, he knew of at least 3 or 4 other Alpha's in the building, and they all believed him to be a Beta.

Olivia raised her hands in front of her, she could practically taste his distress, "Please just calm down, deep breaths okay?"

"Stop that!" Elliot moaned. He was inhaling her scent, her pheromones, no matter how hard he tried not to, and at the moment she was secreting more than usual as she used her abilities to try to calm him down.

"Stop what, I haven't moved?" Olivia was unsure what she had done now to cause him more problems.

"Stop tryin' to soothe me," Elliot insisted.

Olivia gaped at him, "I'm sorry I didn't realize I was… I didn't mean to-"

"Thought Alpha's weren't suppose to be caring, and empathetic," he grunted, clearly worked up, his skin was turning red.

Olivia raised an eyebrow, "And I thought Omega's were suppose to be nurturing, and docile-" She could see a vein on his neck bulging, peaking out from the collar of his work shirt, she didn't understand where it had come from but she found herself suddenly wanting to bite him there.

"Hah," Elliot choked out, "You Alpha's-"

"Wait, you know I'm an Alpha?" Olivia was shocked, only just realizing what he had called her, his particular smell was distracting her as well. Since presenting in her early teens she made a point to try to hide her true status. She hated the reputation and stereotypical traits that Alpha's tended to have.

"Are you kidding? I could smell you the minute you walked into Cragen's office…"

They both stood leaning against the metal walls but facing away from one another.

"Nobody has ever been able to distinguish my status before, I've been covering it up since I presented," Olivia softly explained.

"Yeah… Well same, being a male Omega wasn't exactly something my Father wanted people to know about," Elliot was leaning with his forehead pressed against the cool wall. Slowly he turned his head to look over his shoulder at the new woman who had blown into his life like a tornado. He just wondered if she would leave a wreckage in her wake.

"I can relate, my Mother was disgusted when I presented…" Olivia trailed off, struggling to understand what was conspiring between them.

The elevator door slid open and Olivia watched as Elliot bolted from the metal box, and leaned against the far wall in the hallway. He was bent over, taking in deep breaths.

Olivia gave him a moment to himself, and tried to keep her distance, but she could clearly see him continuing to struggle.

She hesitantly took a few steps closer, and found herself releasing her pheromones once again, albeit purposely then. His reaction was almost immediate, she noted his shaky breaths finally slowed down, his skin returned to it's normal hue, and he stood up straight.

Olivia gulped. She was never actively looking for a partner, let alone something more serious. She wasn't sure if it was the Alpha in her, but she had basked in the single life, enjoying her numerous one-night stands, and short-term relationships. She never believed for a second that she would find a potential love, someone she'd considered biting, or a soulmate.

"Th-thanks," Elliot muttered once his breathing had returned to normal, after inhaling her scent, he had been close to passing out in that box from holding his breath. He wasn't sure what he would've done if he had kept smelling her, she was enticing, pulling him in without even trying to. He was happy she had noticed his state, and had used her powers for good, changing her scent to calm him, rather than her natural scent that aroused him.

"Anytime," Olivia gave him a small smile, as she visually assessed him, her eyes came to a stop, and the smile dropped from her face as noticed his left hand. Specifically the gold band adorning his ring finger.

Elliot saw where she was looking, and moved his hand, awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck.

Olivia felt foolish, but she hadn't seen a love bite when he loosened his shirt, for a minute she naïvely believed that she could have met her mate.

They stood in a corner away from any other foot traffic.

"Does Cragen know about yo-" Elliot started but Olivia cut him off.

Folding her arms over her chest, "Cragen is aware of my history."

Elliot simply nodded, "Well if Cragen trusts you in this position with these victims then so do I."

Olivia scowled, "I'm not like the asshole Alpha's that you come across every day, that you put behind bars."

"Never said you were, and for the record, people of every status commit unspeakable crimes, Alpha's aren't responsible for every heinous assault," Elliot couldn't help feeling like Olivia hated her label for a deeper reason than the usual stereotypical Alpha traits.

"Just like Omega's aren't the only victims?" she inquired.

"Hmmm, exactly," Elliot agreed.

He took a small step towards her, and spoke quietly, "Look, obviously Cragen believes we can function well and do some good as partners. So let's take the weekend, calm down, and never speak of what has happened here this morning ever again?"

"Absolutely," Olivia quickly agreed, chancing one last glance at his ring finger, before making a vow of her own, Elliot Stabler would be her partner, but only at work.

After a minute of awkward silence, and avoiding eye contact, Elliot whispered, "It's just biology, right…"

Olivia gazed into the brightest blue eyes she had ever seen, "Right," she replied so quietly, she barely heard herself.

Saturday Afternoon September 1999, Detective Elliot Stabler's House, Queens, New York City

It had barely been 24 hours since they left early yesterday, and she had been the only thing on his mind for about 23 of those hours.

As much as he wanted to ignore what had happened a part of him couldn't.

He had never experienced that kind of instant connection with anyone, and she didn't even need to be in his company to affect him. He could smell her scent throughout the precinct. It was so strong he truly wondered how it hadn't driven everybody crazy.

Growing up they were taught the reason partners could smell one another so clearly was biological. One could release pheromones to signal to their mate that they were ready to breed, or warn them if they were in danger.

He had never really had that type of relationship with Kathy. Her being a Beta, she had a nice scent but that's as far as it went. When they were teens she once told him that his fragrance got stronger when he was in heat, which was another reason he took suppressants.

Elliot wasn't sure if it scared him, or excited him, that even with the medications he had been taking for years that allowed him to pass himself off as a Beta, that Olivia could literally smell right through it. He started to think about what had occurred when he showed her the file room-

"Owww," Elliot exclaimed as he bent over and rubbed his shin, where one of his kids had hit him with an N64 controller.

"Wanna play?" his youngest asked him, bringing him out of his Olivia bubble.

He smiled warmly. This. Right here. This was his home. This was his life. This is where he was suppose to be.

"Yeah, let's go!" he exclaimed, hoping that if he focused on his family and only his family, he'd be able to keep the Alpha raven haired beauty, out of his mind, heart, and soul.

A/N: Hopefully you are able to understand the A/B/O dynamics as the story goes on. Let me know if there is any confusion, and what do you think Olivia/Elliot smell like? I'm interested to hear what people imagine if you've thought about it. Until this story it had never crossed my mind.
