Chapter 7: Marsh: The Wolverine story

Disclaimer: I do not own the smurfs, they are owned by Peyo. I do not own My Little Pony or its characters, they are owned by Hasbro. The Canterlot Avengers had just finished their first team up, they celebrated by eating at a shawarma restaurant in New York. Spider-Man (who had just finished his meal) was still pondering about Stan's status as a mutant.

"I just don't get it," said Spider-Man. "How could Stan be born a mutant and never tell us about it? I mean, I barely know him so it makes sense for him not to tell me, but he knows Cartman and Wendy but he never told them."

"Dude, it's not that big of a deal, besides, you're technically a mutant since you were born with your powers," said Cartman.

"Yeah, but I had my powers activated by a spider bite, so technically I'm not a mutant," said Spider-Man. "Also, it's my family genetics, not a mutation."

"I still can't believe I used to date a mutant," said Wendy, as she was finishing up her meal. "Then again, he did seem a bit too courageous to be a normal human being."

"Have you ever asked him why he acted courageous?" asked Captain Canada.

"We sort of broke up before I could ask him," said Wendy, as she looked at her phone, staring at an image of her and her ex boyfriend. "He and I are still friends, but we barely speak anymore."

"Maybe we should talk to him… after we finish our shawarma," said Rumble, who was almost finished with his meal.

After shawarma, at Stan's house…

Stan Marsh and his family had recently moved to Canterlot, and so far he was enjoying it. For starters, his dad finally decided to give up on the weed business since marijuana is illegal in Canterlot, his mom is doing good and her new job at a pharmacy, and his sister stopped bullying him and started dating Kenny's older brother Kevin.

He was watching the Canadian version of Total Drama Island, when he heard a knock on his front door. When he answered the door, he was greeted by the Canterlot Avengers in their secret identities. "Oh, hey guys, I see you're all back from New York," said Stan.

"Cut the crap Stan, tell us about the adamantium," said Hector, as he and the other Canterlot Avengers entered Stan's house and sat on his couch. "Aren't you going to offer us any lemonade like a good host?"

"Good host? First off, you all showed up uninvited, and second… I've already prepared some lemonade," said Stan, as he placed glasses of lemonade on the coffee table. "So, I take it Derpy told you about my mutation."

"It's not a mutation if you were born with it, just tell us how it works," said Wendy.

"It works when I feel like it, so I can basically do it on command, like this," said Stan. He then demonstrated his powers by making three claws pop out of his knuckles. "I was born with these powers, thanks to my great grandfather. You might know him as… Logan, or Wolverine, whichever is more common."

"Now that you mention it, I did know someone during the war who was named Logan, and he also had claws like those," said Tender Taps. "There's nothing else to say other than he was a solid dude."

"Yeah, but that also means that I have to live up to his legacy," said Stan. Hector then raised his hand. "Yes, the Wolverine character from X-Men was created as a cover story so nobody would suspect anything." Hector lowered his hand. "But it's not an easy legacy to live up to."

"Do you wanna talk or sing about it? Your choice," said Rumble. Appropriately, Stan chose to sing.

Stan: There are few who deny, being a mutant is the best

Since our talents are renowned far and wide

When it comes to slicing crooks in moonlit nights

I excel without ever even dying

With the slightest bit of effort of my mutant charms

I have seen grown men give out a shriek

With a slice at the hand, and a well placed moan

I have swept the very bravest off their feet

Yet year after year, it's my own routine

And I've grown so bored of the sound of screams

And I, Stan, the Mutant King

Have grown so tired of being Wolverine

Oh, somewhere deep inside of my bones

My loneliness begins to grow

There's something out there, far from our home

Maybe mutants that are still unknown

"That's interesting, could you tell us why you feel like this?" said Cartman, who wanted to learn more.

"It's quite simple, actually," said Stan, followed by him continuing his song.

Stan: I'm a shadow of night, only striking in the light

And I've scared crooks right out of their pants

Like that guy from Kentucky, and our smurfy mister lucky

And I'm known throughout Germany and France

Since I can't be dead, I can slice off my head

To recite Shakespearean quotations

No animal nor man can kill like I can

Like Satan giving them hellish invitations

But who here would ever understand

That the mutant king with his bulletproof grin

Would tire of his crown, if you only understood

I'd give it all up if I only could

The adamantium trapped inside my bones

Calls for something that is still unknown

My fame and praise goes year after year

Yet never fills my empty tears

Wendy was sobbing like a baby while the others just stood silently until Hector broke the silence. "You know, the Canterlot Avengers are looking for new members, and since we don't have any mutants on the team yet, would you like to join us? If you need time to think that's fine with me," said Hector.

Stan thought about it for a minute, and eventually thought of a decision. "You know, our old freedom pals franchise isn't really going anywhere, so… I'm in. Do I have to sign a waiver?" asked Stan, followed by Hector pulling out a waiver.

"Sign here, here, and an initial here," said Hector, as Stan signed the waiver. "This is just in case your healing factor fails, so consider this a warning."

"Oh, and follow up question, do I get a cool, comic accurate costume?" asked Stan.

"That depends if you want it mostly yellow or mostly black, the choice is yours," said Rumble, as he showed Stan two different suits, one movie accurate suit (mostly black) and one comic accurate suit (mostly yellow). Ultimately, Stan chose the comic accurate version of the suit, followed by him quickly changing into the suit.

"I think this'll be a great use of my power," said Stan. "What's our first mission gonna be?"

Cartman then placed a holographic projector on the coffee table, which displayed coordinates leading to Russia. "The scepter that Kyle had was stolen and taken to Russia, along with Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle who were watching it at the time," said Cartman. "We'll need at least one more recruit to stand a chance against the guards."

"Well, you and I do know one kid that has a fighting chance as a solo act," said Stan, which made Cartman realize who Stan was talking about.

"Oh no, we are not going to recruit him, he's the reason Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle got kidnapped. Besides, we don't even know where the hell he is," said Cartman, who didn't want to search the entire world for one person.

"Who are you guys talking about?" asked Rumble.

"Our immortal friend, Kenny McCormick, who hasn't been seen in a while," said Stan. "Luckily, I put a tracking device on him two weeks before he left." He then took out his phone, and managed to locate Kenny. "It says that he's in Canterlot City."

"Then let's head to the city and find this immortal kid," said Hector, as the Canterlot Avengers suited up and made haste to the city.

I was going to make Kenny Wolverine, but I figured he'd be a better fit for the next superhero. If you want to see what Kenny's secret identity is, you're going to have to wait for the next chapter. Let's just say that he looks beyond the fourth wall (hint hint). Anyways, I'll see you guys in the next chapter.
