Today is the day of the funeral of Will Byers. However, for Cassie, there is a chance that he is still alive.

The sermon that the pastor is preaching is being tuned out by Cassie's intrusive thoughts. There has to be a way to get to both Will and Barb.

The funeral came to an end, and Bob and Cassie were about to leave. Bob nervously went up to Joyce.

"Excuse me, Joyce." he starts off nervously, getting her attention. "I-I don't know if you remember me, but if there's anything that you need, just know that both me and my niece are here for you." he continues to ramble nervously.

All Joyce could do is send him a small smile. "Thank you." she says, quietly.

As the two were going towards Bob's car, Cassie was about to ask him what that whole interaction between him and Joyce was about. She looks towards a way and spots Jonathan and Nancy gesturing to her to come over to them.

"I'll be back for a moment, Uncle Bob." Cassie tells her uncle as she goes over to the two.

"What's going on?" she asks them as they sit down in front of the fencing that surrounds the cemetery.

"This is where we know for sure it's been, right?" Jonathan clarifies as the three take a closer look at a map with x's around the area.

"The wooded area over at Steve's house where Barb was last seen, right?" Cassie asks. All Jonathan did was nod.

"And that's the woods where they found Will's bike, and that's my house." he continues, pointing off the different coordinates.

"It's all so close." Nancy notes. "Yeah. Exactly. I mean, it's all within a mile or something." Jonathan agrees.

"It doesn't seem to be traveling far. It looks like it's straight out of some horror movie, everything is located all around the woods." Cassie points out.

Jonathan looks like he has something on his mind, and Nancy can tell right off the bat. "You want to go out there."

"We might not find anything." Jonathan tells her. Cassie can tell that he wants to go after the creature that took his brother, but is feeling helpless.

"I found something. And if we do see it, then what?" Nancy asks the two. "We kill it." Jonathan finishes.

Cassie points to him in agreement. It's a very logical response. An idea brews in her head as she leaves towards her uncle's car.

"Where are you going?" Nancy asks her. "Just trust me. I'll meet up with you two later." Cassie responds to her.

When Bob and Cassie reach the house, Cassie wastes no time in jumping out of the car and heading towards the backyard. She collects all of the arrows that have been scattered around the grass. She heads back into the garage and places the quiver of arrows next to the bow.

She heads back inside so she can change out of her funeral clothes. Once leaving her bedroom, she accidentally runs into Bob.

"Woah, there, Speed Racer." Bob reacts and frowns when he sees the hurried state of his niece. "You okay there? You look like you're in a rush.

"Oh, yeah, I'm fine. I'm kind of meeting up with Jonathan and Nancy. It's the whole post-funeral thing." Cassie brushes off.

"You can go, sweetie, okay?" Bob tells her. As soon as Bob turns the other way, she heads back into the garage to grab the bow and the arrows and heads back inside her car to meet up with Jonathan and Nancy.

She drives up to where Nancy and Jonathan would be at. They are practicing shooting the cans with the gun.

Cassie gets out of the car, getting her bow and arrow in the process. She loads the arrow, draws back the bow, and releases the arrow, the arrow hitting the can in the process. Nancy and Jonathan whirl around to see Cassie.

"Eh, the beer can's not ideal, but I'll work with what I got." Cassie comments as she goes over to retrieve the arrow.

"When did you learn to do that?" Nancy asks her.

"Well, before my dad died, he taught me archery. He thought that because I liked Lord of the Rings and Dungeons & Dragons, it would be perfect for father-daughter bonding." Cassie explains to Nancy.

The three teenagers shortly go into the woods for some monster hunting. As they were walking about in the woods, Nancy spoke up. "You never said what I was saying."

"What?" Jonathan asks in confusion.

"Yesterday. You said I was saying something and that's why you took my picture." Nancy reiterates.

"Oh, uh, I don't know…I saw this girl, you know, trying to be someone else. But, for that moment, it was like you were alone, or you thought you were. And, you know, you could just be yourself." Jonathan tries to explain.

"That is such bullshit." Nancy tells him as Cassie lights up a cigarette.

When Nancy said that, Jonathan got confused. "What?" he stammers.

"I am not trying to be someone else. Just because I'm dating Steve and you don't like him–" Nancy tries to defend herself.

"You know what? Forget it. I just thought it was a good picture." Jonathan brushes off.

"He's actually a good guy." Nancy tells him, which causes Cassie to scoff. "Could've fooled me."

"Cassie, he's your best friend. He's just looking out for you." Nancy tries to plead with the girl. The taller brunette lets out a puff of smoke.

"That's the thing, Princess, it's in the past tense. That douchebag was fucking embarrassed to be seen with me. Throughout all of the years I've been friends with him, he just throws it down the drain as if it meant nothing to him." Cassie snaps, venomously.

Nancy thought it was a good idea to not press the issue with Cassie anymore as her attention is now onto Jonathan.

"Yesterday, with the camera…He's not like that at all. He was just being protective." Nancy continues to defend Steve.

Jonathan, on the other hand, is not buying it. "Yeah, that's one word for it."

"Oh, and I guess what you did was okay?" Nancy asks, rhetorically. To that, Cassie has to agree with her. Those pictures did not paint Jonathan in the best light.

"No, I…I never said that." Jonathan responds, but Nancy is not letting up. "He had every right to be pissed–" Nancy is about to say, but is cut off by Jonathan.

"Okay, all right. Does that mean I have to like him?" Jonathan asks, to which she responds with, "No."

"Listen, don't take it so personally, okay? I don't like most people. He's in the vast majority." Jonathan tells her.

As Nancy and Jonathan continue to fight, Cassie groans out. "Dear, God, we don't have time for this." she groans out as she trudges on through the woods, distinguishing the cigarette in the process.

The day quickly descends to night, and at that point, Cassie fishes out the headlight she opts to use. Because she was further ahead of Nancy and Jonathan, she can distinctly hear the sounds of whimpering. She knows that it's a bad idea, considering that most characters in scary movies lack common sense, but curiosity takes the best of her.

She finds a deer, who looks like it got hit by a car. Nancy and Jonathan join her quickly after the discovery. "I found it like this. It looks like it's been hit by a car." she tells the two, stunned.

"We can't just leave it." Nancy tells Jonathan, on the verge of tears. She looks down at the gun in her hands and back at the deer. It is evident that Nancy is hesitant to put the deer out of its misery.

Jonathan can sense the uneasiness of the girl next to him, so he puts his hand out. "I'll do it."

"I thought you said–" Nancy is about to argue, but Jonathan insists. "I'm not nine anymore."

The three stand up, and Cassie closes her eyes, not wanting to see the poor animal suffering, and after the safety of the gun is off, a scuffle is heard, and Cassie opens her eyes to see the deer is no longer there.

Cassie quickly loads an arrow and draws back the bow in defense. "What was that?" Nancy asks, breathlessly.

"I don't know. But remain cautious." Cassie warns Nancy.

Traversing very carefully through the dark woods, both Cassie and Jonathan are unaware of Nancy crawling through a tree into something that is even more sinister than they could ever have imagined.
