It was 9:00 AM and Nikki was wide awake, she was admiring her left ring finger, a beautiful diamond ring was around it. She still couldn't believe it, she was engaged to Jack, she didn't expect this at all which made is even more perfect.

Nikki was laying on her side with Jack's arms wrapped around her and his body pressed against her.

After a few minutes Nikki tried to free herself from Jack's grip but she felt his grip tighten around her which made her giggle quietly.

"Morning." She heard Jack say in her neck, sending goosebumps down her whole body.

"Goodmorning." Nikki replied with a smile, she turned herself around in his arms so she could face him and rested her left hand on his chest, their eyes met but Jack's eyes drifted downwards to look at her hand, he grabbed her hand and looked at it closely before meeting her eyes again smiling.

"You're the most gorgeous fiancée on earth Nik, look at you wearing that ring." Jack said with a smirk.

Nikki blushed and looks at Jack. "It's so beautiful Jack, i still don't know what to say."

"You said the right thing yesterday by saying yes." Jack replied, he planted a soft quick kiss on her lips and pulled her closer to him.

Nikki smiled into the embrace and pulled away after a little while, she sat up and looked at Jack. "Want to tell the good news to your dad and Cara?"

Jack nodded in response. "Yes, but first i need a shower after what we did a couple of hours ago." Jack said with a smirk.

"Mind if i join?" Nikki replied giving him a smirk back.

"You know i'd never mind a shower with you." Jack said while getting out of the bed, he walked to the bathroom and heard Nikki follow behind him.

After the shower both Nikki and Jack got dressed in some comfortable clothes, Nikki pinned her damp hair up in a knot and looked at herself in the mirror in the bathroom.

"Are you okay?" Jack asks a clearly zoned out Nikki.

Nikki didn't reply and kept looking at herself in the mirror.

"Nikki?" Jack said while slowly walking up to Nikki, he touches her shoulder and felt her flinch.

Nikki jumped at his touch and looked at him directly in the mirror. "Sorry, what?"

"You zoned out Nik, what's wrong?" Jack quizzes with a worried look on his face, he rarely saw Nikki like this. They've been together for almost 2 years now and he could see that something was up.

"Nothing." Nikki replied with a soft smile, she went to walk away but Jack grabbed her arm lightly and stopped her from walking around.

"Nikki, talk to me." Jack said now in a serious tone so he could make sure Nikki knew he knew something was up.

"Jack, please. Let it go." Nikki replied while looking at him.

"No."

Nikki groaned and huffed at him. "Let's go downstairs, tell your dad and Cara, please?" Nikki pleaded.

Jack sighed at looked at Nikki. "Why won't you tell me?"

"Why won't you let it go?" Nikki argued back in a louder voice, she moved herself out of Jack's soft grip and walked back to their bedroom.

"Nikki, stop this. I found you here zoning out and i'm just trying to help." Jack said while walking behind her to the bedroom, they stood in the middle of their bedroom looking at each other. "If you want to drop this for now? Fine! But we're continuing this conversation later today, no arguing."

Nikki sighed and looked down. "Fine." She said softly. "I'm sorry." She let out, she looked back up at Jack and she felt the tears begin to form in her eyes.

"Hey Nik.. Come here." Jack stepped forward and wiped her now damp cheeks with his thumbs and pulled her in for a hug. "You can always tell me everything, you know that right?"

Nikki nodded in his chest. "Yes i know, let's please talk about this later. I want to share some good news to your dad and Cara."

Jack let out a small sigh and nodded. "Fine."

Nikki pulled away from the embrace and looked up at Jack, she didn't know if he was mad or disappointed, or both.

Jack gave her a small smile and leant down to kiss her lips briefly.

Nikki returned the smile and made her way out of the bedroom to head downstairs with Jack following her.

They walked in the kitchen and saw Conor sitting at the coffee counter sipping his coffee.

"Morning to you both." Conor said while setting down the coffee on the counter.

"Morning da." Jack replied while he walked to the coffee machine to make himself and Nikki some coffee.

"Morning Conor," Nikki said while walking up to Jack and to face Conor. "Err no coffee for me Jack, i'll go make some tea for myself." She said while grabbing a cup and filled her mug with hot water from the high tech water tap.

Jack was a bit confused but let it go and made himself a cup of coffee.

Once both got their drink they join Conor at the coffee counter, they leant against it while facing Conor.

"We've got some news da." Jack said while a smile formed on his face.

"Oh do you?" Conor said curious.

Jack looked at Nikki and gave her a nod, letting her know she should be the one to tell him.

Nikki smiled and held up her left hand for Conor to see it. "We're engaged."

"Oh my." Conor said while standing up to hug his son and Nikki. "Congratulations you two, i knew this day would come."

Both Jack and Nikki smile grew wider, Jack wrapped his right arm around Nikki's shoulder and pulled her into his side while plating a kiss on her head.

"This is wild son, never knew you were planning to propose." Conor said while sitting back down to face the pair.

Jack let out a small laugh and pulled away from Nikki to grab his coffee again. "Yea, i brought the ring a couple of weeks ago.. i didn't plan to propose yesterday but it just felt right after we talked about marriage."

"Good for you son, i'm so happy for the both of you! Took ya long enough!" Conor said jokily.

Jack chuckled and looked at Nikki who truely was glowing.

"I've got some news too." Conor said.

Jack and Nikki exchange looks and then looked back at Conor. "What's up da?"

"I've found a flat."

"What? I never asked you to move out did i?" Jack said clearly now expecting this news.

"Son, you're a grown man! And now engaged.. You need to have a own life without your da living with you." Conor replied.

"You don't need to move out Conor, i really like having you here, so does Jack." Nikki said while taking a sip of her tea.

"And i really like living here with you guys, but i really wanted a place for my own. And don't worry it's around the corner." Conor said with a smile. "Look son, i really need a own place, you don't want your da living with you when your married."

"Da..."

"No arguing Jack, i already signed the contract and i'll get the keys in three weeks. Just promise me one thing."

Jack sighed knowing he can't change his fathers mind. "Sure."

"Let Cara stay until she finds a place for her own, i don't want her some student flat or worse.." Conor said with a grimace.

"Ofcourse, she can stay as long as she needs, don't worry about that da." Jack replied.

"Good. Now back to you two, when is the big day?"

Nikki giggled at Conor's question. "We haven't picked out a date yet Conor, but you'll be the first one to know, i promise." She said.

"Good." Conor said while sipping his coffee.

The kitchen door opened and Cara walked in with a big smile, she waved at the three and went to sit down next to Conor. 'Goodmorning.' She signs.

'Morning Cara, had a nice time yesterday with your friends?' Jack signs back.

Cara nodded with a smile.

'Do you want some coffee or tea?' Nikki signed to Cara.

Cara gasped and pointed at the ring that was on Nikki's finger.

"Busted." Conor said with a chuckle.

Jack and Nikki both laughed and looked at each other before looking back at Cara.

'I proposed.' Jack signed to Cara.

'And i said yes, ofcourse.' Nikki added after him.

Cara's smile grew even wider and stood up to hug both Nikki and Jack. 'Congratulations.' She signed after pulling away.

'Thank you.' Both Nikki and Jack signed with a smile.

Later that day Nikki was sat in the garden at the picnic table with her laptop doing some paperwork.

Jack walked in the garden with a fresh cup of tea and sat it down next to Nikki's laptop, a faint 'thank you' left her throat. He sat down next to her and looked at her.

Nikki felt his eyes on her but choose to ignore it, after a minute she heard him clear his throat, she looked away from her laptop and looked at Jack. "What?"

"You own me a conversation." Jack said while he closed her laptop with his hand, demanding all her attention.

Nikki sighed. "I can't do this Jack."

"Yes you can Nikki, you know you can talk to me about anything." Jack said while grabbing her hand in his. "Please talk to me Nik."

Nikki looked up to meet his eyes, she felt the tears vorming in her eyes.

"Hey, what's going on Nik? I'm really getting worried here. Please talk to me." Jack said in a soft voice while his other hand wiped the tears that now felt down her cheeks.

"Promise me not to get mad." Nikki said in a soft voice.

"Nikki.."

"Promise me Jack." She felt his hand squeeze hers.

"Ofcourse i promise that."

"I-i'm late." Nikki whispers softly.

"What did you just say? I can't hear you when you whisper Nik.."

"I'm late." Nikki now said in a louder voice.

"Late for what?" Jack said confused.

"Jack.." Nikki said while rolling her eyes.

"What? I'm confused here Nik."

"I'm late as in, i haven't got my period yet." Nikki said, she tried to guess which emotions ran trough Jack's head but couldn't figure it out.

"O-Okay.. uhm." Jack said, he was searching for the right words which made Nikki clearly panic. "How late are you?"

"Almost 6 weeks, i totally didn't notice it until last night after we got out of the bathtub, when you fell asleep i looked for my journal where i write everything down and then i saw my last period was 6 weeks ago, i'm almost never late." Nikki let out, the tears kept falling from her cheeks.

Jack let out a breath of relief and wrapped his arms around Nikki and pulled her into his lap, he held her close and wiped the tears from her cheeks.

Nikki was confused and looked at Jack. "Aren't you mad?"

"Why would i be mad Nik? I thought for a moment something was really wrong here.. like you dying..." Jack said while whispering the last words.

"Well something is wrong here Jack.. i could be pregnant."

"But that isn't wrong right? We've talked about this before. We want kids." Jack replied. "You're not telling me you don't want it right?"

"God ofcourse not! But we talked about having kids when we are married, we aren't even married yet, i thought you would be mad because of that."

"Ofcourse i'm not mad Nik, i'm actually happy and relieved. But i thought we were careful. " Jack said while a smile formed on his face.

"I might have forgotten the pill once or twice, but i didn't think anything would happen, i'm on the pill for so long, i'm so sorry." Nikki said while looking down at her hands.

Jack slowly puts his finger under her chin and made her look at him. "Nik, don't apologize. We want kids, we want a family. I guess fate decided now is the right time."

Now it was Nikki's turn to breathe out a breath of relief. "You're the best."

Jack chuckles and stroked her cheek. "But you aren't sure yet, right?" Jack asks.

Nikki shook her head. "No, i didn't take a test yet."

"Then i'm going to the pharmacy and get us one or two, okay?"

Nikki nodded and a small smile formed on her face. "Thank you Jack."

"That's what i'm here for right? You should've told me this morning though so i could've been there for you more." Jack replied still stroking her cheek, he now rubbed his other hand up and down her back.

"I know, i'm sorry Jack. I panicked and i didn't know what to do. I didn't want to bother you with my problems."

"Nik, you're problems are my problems now. Please never hesitate and tell me everything, i love you."

"I love you too." Nikki replied and planted a kiss on his lips. "You're becoming a softy Jack Hodgson."

Jack laughed. "I'm not a softy."

"Oh you are! I like it though." Nikki smirked and planted another kiss on his lips.

"Don't push it." Jack said with a wink.

Nikki giggled and wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a tight hug.

Jack smiled in the embrace and pulled away after a minute to gently lift Nikki of his lap and standing up leaving the picnic table. "I'm going to the store okay? We're doing this together." He said while leaning down to kiss her lips. "I'll be back in 15 minutes."

Nikki nodded with a smile and watched Jack leave the garden to go to the pharmacy.
