Jack and Nikki were seated in the waiting room of the maternity unit for their 13 week ultrasound, a very small bump was now forming but Nikki covered it well so their little secret was still their little secret until today.

"Nikki Alexander?" They heard a woman call out.

Both Jack and Nikki stood up and walked hand in hand to the room the midwife called from.

"Hello, my name is Maisie. I'll be your midwife for today! I saw you guys got Natalie the previous time, she's free today otherwise she would help you, hope you don't mind a new face." Maisie said with a smile.

"Ofcourse not." Nikki replied returning the smile, she took off her coat and gave it to Jack.

"Great, you can lay down and lift your jumper dear."

Nikki did as told and got on the examine table with some help from Jack and laid down, she lifted her jumper to reveal the small bump.

Jack smiled at the bump and felt the butterflies fly trough his whole body, he still couldn't believe he's going to be a dad in 6 months. He always knew Nikki would be the woman who would carry his child if they after had the luck of getting pregnant, and now he was staring at a small bump that will grow even bigger the next couple of weeks, he already could not take his hands of her stomach when they were alone. They successfully completed the last 2,5 weeks keeping their secret a secret without Cara or his dad becoming suspicious.

Nikki smiled at Jack who focused on her stomach and grabbed his hand in hers and laced their fingers, Jack snapped out of his thoughts and now looks at Nikki, he smiles at her and kissed her hand.

"Okay, so this is your 13 week ultrasound, i'll be mostly be focusing if everything is as we wished." Maisie said to the couple, she grabbed the cold gel and puts some on Nikki's stomach, she moves the probe in her hand and looks at the screen. "Here is your little one." Maisie said with a smile.

"I'm going to let you guys enjoy the view and the heartbeat while i do all the checks." Maisie said while looking for the baby's heartbeat, once she found it the whole room filled with the baby's heartbeat.

Jack and Nikki looked at each other in awe and the biggest smiles appeared on their faces, Jack leant in and pecked Nikki's lips. "I love you so much."

Nikki smiled and squeezed his hand. "I love you too."

After a few minutes of looking at their baby on the screen and hearing its heartbeat Maisie spoke up. "Your baby is perfectly fine, 10 toes, 10 fingers and i see no deficits. The baby is growing as we would like to see for a 13 week old. You're officially succeeded the first trimester and now will start the second trimester, which usually means less morning sickness, but i did read you started it pretty late so do know it could be there longer than usual." Maisie said while taking a few photo's for the pair to take home.

Jack and Nikki both let out a big sigh of relief, Jack kissed the top of her head. "This is good Nik."

"Yes, it is." Nikki replied with a smile.

"And how did it go? How is my little niece or nephew?" Clarissa asked the pair as they entered the Lyell together, hands intertwined and big smiles on their faces.

"Very well, first trimester is succesfully completed, we can finally tell everyone." Nikki beamed.

"That's amazing." Clarissa smiled at the pair. "Have any new pictures?"

"Yes we have," Nikki replied, she openend her bag and handed Clarissa the ultrasound photo's.

Clarissa beamed and looked at all the photo's. "Baby Hodgson is already the most beautiful baby on the planet."

"Couldn't agree more." Jack replied with a big smile, he walked to stand behind Clarissa and smiled proudly at the photo's in her hand.

Nikki laughed at the pair and walked to her desk to take off her coat and bag.

"What are you both looking at?" Velvy said while walking to Jack and Clarissa to take a look at the photo's in Clarissa's hand. "Ultrasound photo's?"

"Errr.. yeah." Jack replied while scratching the back of his head. He looked at Nikki who was looking at them from her desk to see if he could be the one to tell Velvy, when she nodded at him with a smile he looked back at Velvy. "Nikki is pregnant."

A big grin appeared on Velvy face as he looked closer at the photo's in Clarissa's hand then to Nikki and Jack. "That's amazing news! Congratulations to you both. How for along are you?"

"Just over 13 weeks." Nikki replied with a smile, she turned her chair and sat down on it, she laid a little back on the chair and pulled up her jumper a bit to reveal a blank tank top and a small bump, she rested her hands on it and admires it.

"Pregnancy suits you Nikki." Clarissa said and handed the pictures back to Jack who then walked over to his own desk, kissing the top of Nikki's head on his way.

Nikki blushes and thanked Clarissa before turning back to her desk to finish a big autopsy report.

Clarissa made her way to Jack and handed him some results off tests she did for him while he was away this morning.

"When will you tell your dad and Cara?" Clarissa asks softly not wanting to distract Nikki who had a big report to finish before they all will celebrate their weekend off.

"Tonight at diner, i'm making my famous lasagna. Also my dad is officially moving tomorrow." Jack replied while taking a quick look at the results.

"Great, tell me all about bow it went on monday." Clarissa said with a smile before turning around to to back to her own desk.

"I will oldie." Jack shouts after her making Nikki let out a little laugh.

"Here is my famous lasagna." Jack said while putting down a bowl full of lasagna on the diner table, he sits down next to Nikki and wraps one around the back of her chair.

"It looks amazing son." Conor replied looking at the full diner table, he looks ar Cara who immediately grabs a big spoon to fill her plate with lasagna.

Nikki looked at Jack and smiled, she loves rhese moments between the four of them and wondered what it would be like in about 6 months with their newborn, she knew from all her friends what to expect but she just wanted Conor and Cara to love their new family member as much as they already did, but that won't be an issue.

After they all finished the lasagna they all sat back in their chairs satisfied, both Jack and Nikki knew this was the moment, this was their moment.

"We want to tell you something." Jack says while signing.

Conor and Cara glanced shortly at each other before looking at the couple in front of them.

Nikki grabbed the ultrasound pictures from the bag that was set next to her chair and held them ready to show to Conor and Cara.

Jack looked at Nikki and holds her other hand that was set on the table, they both turned to Conor and Cara with a big smile.

"I'm pregnant." Nikki lets out, mouthing her words good for Cara to understand as both her hands where full.

"Really? That's amazin!" Cara signs and stood up to pull them both in for a big hug.

Nikki and Jack both laughed and returned the hug, Nikki handed Cara a ultrasound picture. "For you." Nikki signed and smiled before handing Conor also a picture. "And for you granddad."

Conor was in shock, he could barely grab the picture out of Nikki's hand, he looked at the picture and strokes the picture with his fingers. "This..." he let out.

"Da? Are you okay?" Jack said with a worried look on his face.

"This is amazing son, i'm so happy." Conor said while a tear escaped from this eye. "I'm going to be a grandpa again."

"You are, and even better, you're going to be the best grandpa ever." Nikki said also tearing up at the sight of an emotional Conor.

Jack smiles and pulls Nikki closer to kiss her temple.

"W-When are you due Nikki?" Conor asks while still looking at the ultrasound picture in his hands.

"Around the 15th of Augusts, in 6 months." Jack replied for Nikki, who couldn't speak due the emotions running through her body, she hid her face in the crook of his neck sniffing.

"Come here love." Conor replied while standing up to walk to Jack and Nikki, he helped Nikki to stand and pulled her in a tight hug. "I'm so happy."

"Me too." Nikki said.

After a little while they both pull back and Nikki gets pulled in another hug by Cara. Conor turned to Jack and then pulled his son in a tight hug. "Congrats son, you're going to be an amazing da."

Jack was now also tearing up and returned the hug tightly. "Thank you da."

The pair pulled away and Conor gave Jack's shoulder a gentle squeeze.

"I'm so happy, i'm ready to babysit anytime." Cara signs with a big smile.

Both Jack and Nikki laughed and looked at Cara. "We'll definitely take you up on that." Jack replied signing and Nikki nodded in agreement.

Cara smiled and hugged her uncle excitedly.

That night both Nikki and Jack decided to go to bed early, tomorrow was the day they helped Conor move in to his new flat and the both of them really needed a good night sleep, the last couple of days they were both very nervous about the 13 week echo and now they got good news every worry is gone and they notice how tired they actually are.

Nikki was laying on her side with Jack pressend up against her with his arm wrapped around her waist and his hand resting on her small bump, stroking it softly.

"What are you thinking about?" Jack said softly while nuzzling his head in the crook of her neck, kissing her bare shoulder.

"Just thinking about the moment when he or she arrives and work." Nikki replied while she laid her hand on Jack's hand and lacing their fingers.

"We'll figure it out Nik."

"Will we though?"

"Ofcourse, us, we will figure it out. We're a team Nik, why wouldn't we figure it out?" Jack said while pulling Nikki closer to his chest.

"We both work fulltime Jack, we need to make a plan some day."

"Want to make a plan now?" Jack asks Nikki seriously.

"I don't know." Nikki said with a sigh. "I just want to be prepared."

"I know Nik, if you want to talk about it, then we talk." Jack said while pressing another kiss on her shoulder.

"I think we maybe should both think about working one day less, what do you think?" Nikki said while looking over her shoulder to meet Jack's eyes.

"Then we'll do that, we need to make changes and if you want us to both work a day less than i'm fine with that, if you want to work even less, then i'm also fine with that."

Nikki smiles at him and quickly pecked his lips. "You're sweet. Let's talk about everything later, i just want to sleep in your arms for a long amount of time."

Jack chuckles and kissed her a bit longer. "We'll figure it out together, okay? If you decide we should both resign then i'll be okay with that too, as long as you're there, and our baby is there, i'll be the happiest men alive." He said while kissing her nose.

"I love you." Nikki said with a smile.

"I love you too," Jack replied. "And you too." He said stroking her stomach.

Nikki smiled and pecked his lips one more time before turning back to her side, she meets Jack's hands again and snuggles back in to him more. "Goodnight."

"Hmm goodnight love." Jack replied planting a kiss on the back of her head.
