Chapter 9: Witchcraft or Chemistry?

I spelt over at the palace that night. Thankfully, since we still had time before school opened up, Kuzco was fine with the idea of me getting accustomed to the palace before we temporarily moved in with Pacha's family -we talked it over with them. They were more than happy to let us stay during the school semester. And I have to be honest, staying in a palace was actually kind of luxurious. A lot more than my old room back home.

That last thought kept me awake. Home. How exactly am I supposed to get back home, if this world doesn't even really have magic in it? Heck, the only thing that would be considered an even type of magic were all of Yzma's potions, and those-

Wait a minute. That's it!

I sat up from my bed and thought about that for a moment. Potions were one of the main things witches, or in the Spanish term brujas, were known for other than casting spells, bonding with adorable black cats, and riding on broomsticks. I started thinking that if I could teach myself to make potions with the equipment in Yzma's lab, maybe that sort of weird universal coincidence that brought me to this world would consider it acceptable, send me back home, and let me beat Oscura in a witch fight!

Dang, if I had remembered that days ago, I probably wouldn't have gotten roped into turning Kuzco back to normal.

I got out of bed and tiptoed down the halls of the palace, daring not to wake up Kuzco or get spotted by the nightly guards. Thankfully, I wasn't spotted by anyone, and I was able to make it to Yzma's secret lab unnoticed. I pulled the -right- lever and I was able to get into the lab. In the midst of getting that human potion for Kuzco, I didn't have time to take in all the cool chem set Yzma had to make her potions. Gotta hand it to the old lady, she was pretty clever when it came to making all her potions.

As I was browsing through the lab, my attention was caught on something laying on a table. It looked like an old book. And when I picked it up and started flipping through its pages, everything in it had a picture of an animal -current or extinct- and recipes next to them. This was a potion book on how to make all the different animal potions. All the ingredients seemed easy to make, but most of them did require certain elements that I knew would take some time to create, perfect, and test.

Let me see, Yzma is now out of the palace and stuck as a cat for who knows how long plus spare time in between being Kuzco's advisor and helping out in Pacha's village and mixed with a potion-making book? Oh, yeah.

"This is a good start." I muttered to myself.

I looked around to make sure no one was around, and I took the book with me back to my room. If I was going to be a potion-making witch, then there was no time to waste just standing around. I had some work to do with this little personal project of mine.
