I am so sorry this is late. There are no excuses, only that real life has for once taken over my free time. No fair, I finally start writing and publishing my ideas and then the world of work and friends drag me awat from it. I will try desperately to keep this updated, purely because I have a new story I want to share and I promised myself to finish this one before starting the next. Hope you enjoy this chapter.

Martha stood impatiently at the entrance of Torchwood Three, tapping her foot on the wooden boards lining the Bay. The door to the Tourist Office was firmly closed in front of her and with no flash Vortex Manipulator wrapping around her small wrist, there was no way to get into the secret entrance. So the great Martha Jones, who had travelled through time and space with the enigmatic and courageous Doctor, was reduced to waiting in the cold with no one to keep her company except the odd tourist. Pulling out her mobile once more, she checked to see if Jack had decided to call her and tell her where exactly he was in this God forsaken city. But there was no such luck; her screen remained blank, except for the screensaver picture that was taken when Tom had proposed to her. She mentally took a note that she would have to let Jack, Gwen and Ianto know that the wedding day was moving closer than any of them had thought.

'For goodness sake, Harkness.' Martha continued to drum out the tune of a song she had heard briefly on the radio with her foot; she couldn't name the song for the life of her, there was no time nowadays to take in such knowledge as the current chart or who was number one with the kids. Pulling out her mobile phone, she twisted the small device in her hands until she decided to flick through her phonebook and select the number she was longing to hear from. Maybe it was a mistake to be escorted at high speed by UNIT to a mission she described as 'dire and in need of immediate attention.' If she had just caught the train like everyone else, she could have been relaxing in a comfortable seat with a large coffee cooling on a handy fold away table. But by uttering the words Torchwood and assistance required, she was immediately bundled into the closest vehicle and forced to endure speeds of one hundred miles per hour to allow her to reach her destination. Next time, she would think before she spoke.

The vibrations emitting from her phone snapped her away from her thoughts as Martha gazed down and smiled as she saw the name; Jack Harkness calling. Pressing the accept button, she held her mobile to her ear and waited to hear the silken vowels of the ex Time Agent to flow through her device.

'Nightingale, have we got a surprise for you when you turn up.' From what Martha could tell Jack was at the wheel of the SUV, taking command as always and with a hint of mischief in his voice. 'So no shenanigans, I want you at the Hub as soon as.' She knew Jack couldn't see her smile, but she knew damn well he could probably hear it.

'Is now soon enough?' Martha left the question, swearing she could hear Jack's mouth open and close in awe. She smiled to herself as she drew back a stray strand of hair away from her face, the cold Cardiff air doing nothing for either her hair or complexion. After what seemed to be an hour, Jack finally found his voice.

'Martha Jones, you astound even me.' He made a joke about her timing being better than a certain Time Lord they both knew and loved, before telling her to stay put as they were just around the corner. 'Oh, by the way, don't forget the cute Welsh guy is now the cute Welsh girl and vice versa.' Before Jack disconnected the call, Martha detected the sound of a rather annoyed male voice warning Jack to keep his compliments to himself.

So Martha waited, wrapping her coat tighter around her slim frame, wandering whether this area ever did experience the warmth of a summer's day. Thankfully she didn't have to wait long until the familiar sight of an old RAF coat came flying into view, followed swiftly by the small and nimble frame of Gwen Cooper, looking strangely uncomfortable in her knee high boots and tight trousers. Martha was almost swept off her feet by the Captain as he drew her into a massive hug, followed by a very subdued greeting from Ianto, who merely straightened up and kissed her cheek.

'Ianto Jones, detectable in any form.' Martha smiled as Jack tried to hide the smile that threatened to cross his face as he remembered how Ianto had proven his identity the first time he had crossed over to the female side.

'Well, fun though this little reunion is,' Jack began as he directed Martha through the door. 'Let's get our doctor to work on our guests.' He ran round the desk and pressed the button to activate the secret door in the wall, therefore missing the fiery gaze Dr Jones was now emitting into his back.

'Guests?' It was all Martha could say at first, looking back at Ianto who merely gave a roll of his eyes and headed through the door as soon as it opened. 'On the phone all you told me was that you had one cold corpse on your table and a glowing box which gave your teammates a new spin on life. Where they hell did this other one come from?'

'That would be the one Gwen and Rhys are lifting out of the SUV and making their way down to us with.' Martha looked at Jack in shock as they stepped into the elevator. 'What? Rhys offered and you know how Gwen is when she gets attached to a case.'

'Or more that you felt I couldn't handle it and you couldn't wait to greet the only person with a heartbeat to grace our presence in the last 24hours.' Ianto kept his gaze straight ahead, his deadpan deliverance still as prevalent as before.

'Hey, I offered..sort of.' Jack suddenly felt three feet tall as the Jones duo turned their heads to look disapprovingly at him. 'It wasn't as if I just left them to...I mean, Gwen was the one who said she could deal with it.' They reached their destination and the trio sprung from the lift and threw the cog door which parted before them. They watched as Gwen and Rhys came into view from the door by the weapons room, both trying to catch their breaths as they attempted to manoeuvre a six foot stretcher through the tiny space.

'I said turn it thirty degrees, Rhys. Does that look like thirty degrees?' Gwen was becoming increasingly frustrated by her husband's inability to apply basic mathematics to the situation. It had been like this since they had removed the body from the SUV and it was taking all of Gwen's effort not to drop her end of the stretcher down in a hissy fit. Taking another deep breath, she tried again. 'Look, just push it back and then I can get my end through.'

'And what an end that is,' Jack said as he beamed his signature smile, much to the annoyance of Gwen and the embarrassment of Ianto. Jogging up to relieve Rhys of his load, he pulled the stretcher through with ease and nodded for Ianto to take over on Gwen's side. With a firm grasp, they carried the stretcher on the last leg of its journey as Gwen and Rhys regained their senses and acknowledged their new colleague. Gwen gave a small wave to Martha before engulfing the young woman in a giant hug.

'So glad you're here,' Gwen said as she held Martha at arm's length and tried to plaster a smile on Ianto's face. 'You have no idea what it's like stuck here with the Chuckle Brothers over there.' She nodded towards Jack and Ianto, who were now having an argument as to who should go backwards down into the medical bay.

'Not the reason I saw myself coming back here.' Gwen cocked her head and looked deep into Martha's eyes. 'Okay, yes this sort of thing would be the best reason to be called back here. I meant it would be nice to visit when the world isn't in turmoil.'

'What are the chances of that happening?' The two women laughed as Rhys slowly moved his way around them and towards the coffee machine, desperate for the taste of the hot liquid. He didn't get far before a shrill voice echoed throughout the Hub.

'No touching the coffee machine.' Shit, Rhys thought. How the hell does Ianto do that? Backing away quickly, he joined Gwen and Martha as they made their way to the medical bay. They watched as Jack and Ianto placed the stretcher on the floor and unzipped the body bag to reveal the young suited man inside. Martha would be lying to herself if she didn't acknowledge the similarity between the body and Ianto, so she decided to focus her attentions on the first dead body still lying on the autopsy table. Martha was quickly drawn away from her thoughts by the sight of Jack waving a scalpel at her.

'Come on, Doctor Jones. Time to get to work.'
