The second Chapter of the Day!
Chapter 73: I'll Miss You...
Mildred Smirked when she saw her.. Hecate, forever her savour.. She had no clue what was happening, the clouds forming not just in the sky, but by her feet. She Imagined it was the buildup of Magic.. Like how a storm forms when heat and cold meet.. But this time.. It's Magic. She gasped and choked for air when she dropped down. But her eyes never left Hecate..
"It seems your intent on getting in my way!" Juile's back was to her now as she stood up. She thought about tackling her there and then, but her legs felt frozen..
"And yet.. You keep coming back for more." Hecate growled out. Her wit was something Mildred always found amusing.. Even in the worst of times.
She watched as their Magic collided together, as if a wave crashing against a rocky shore. She couldn't help but notice the difference in colours.. Hecate's was a dark purple.. Almost black.. It looked like the smoke when she transferred in a more solid matter. While her mothers, was far lighter. Almost a greyish orange colour. The colours both matched them perfectly, and yet did not match the side they were on. She slowly began to stand up, her eyes still focusing on the display before her.
"ENOUGH!" Juile screamed, echoing around the Forest, She moved one hand, aiming to throw her attack towards the unsuspecting Mildred. Her eyes opened wide. Her Mother truly had changed, She was out for blood at this point.. And that scared Mildred.
She was about to move, when Hecate appeared before her. "NO!" She screamed. Launching forward to take Hecate's place as protector, placing herself infront of her as if a shield. She saw Hecate land on the ground, kneeling with the look of panic and pain on her face, She was too late, The Attack had already hit Hecate.
Mildred turned to her mother now, not just scared of her, not just mournful for her, but so very Vexed.. But that all but vanished when she took in her appearance. Her body was set in stone, unable to move. The Rock was spreading over her face.. The face that looked as if she'd just realised what she'd done. All of it. The Fog had cleared, and she was now aware and regretful. "Millie.." She whispered out.
"Why did you go with Agatha, Mum.. Why did you keep the magic.." Mildred asked, her voice feeling far smaller than she would have liked.
"I.. I just wanted us to have it all.." She admitted.. A Tear fell down her face. She looked to Hecate, then to Mildred.. "I.. Im sorry.. I..."
"I shouldnt of given you that Magic... Im sorry.." Mildreds Guilt burrowed back up, Mixed with the Sadness, worry and anger. The amount of Emotions Mildred was feeling was Overwhelming.
"Now.. You listen to me, Mildred. Dont.. Dont feel bad, Please.. " Her voice waved, The Rock ever growing, taking over her body. "You just do as you're told.. You become that which you were always meant to be.."
Mildred let out a small sob.. Her eyes getting watery. "Mum.. I miss you.." Despite how lovely it was with Hecate, she did miss the Mum she once had.
"I know.. But.. Miss H.. She's going to take care of you.. Yea?" She tried to nod, but all that came was the sound of stone rubbing against more stone, Her eyes looked over to the woman still lay on the ground, Hopefully still breathing. "Miss H has her issues.. But.. I'm sure she can rise to the task of mum.." She tried to laugh, Juile really did try.
Mildred moved forward, hugging her mum for what would most likely be the last time. "I love you, Mum.. I'm sorry.." It was Hard, it was cold, it wasnt the soft welcoming arms she rememberd.
Juile let out a sigh. "I don't blame you, Mildred.. Not for one thing.. I love.. You.." Mildred looked up, Her mother completely stone now. With a content Smile on her face.
She released her Mum, Now turning to see Hecate. She rushed to her side, kneeling by her. There were burns up her arms, Blood sticking to her nose and her ears. She tried to think back to when they did first aid in school.. Two fingers to her neck.. There was still a pulse, But it was faint. but no one was around to help.
The tears began dripping fast. "Please, Hecate.. Please Hear me.. You can't die.. Please.." She'd never sounded so desperate. It felt like time itself had stopped.. She raised a hand, flicking it in a dramatic fashion. She'd never been able to really do it before.. But she couldn't help but think 'What would Hecate do?'. She'd Transfer to Miss Cackle, And she'd do it flawlessly.
The Pair appeared in the main office.. Ada and the Great Wizard was on top of them in seconds. Mildred must have seemed hysterical, Crying and gripping onto Hecate for dear life. She couldn't bear to let her go.. But Ada pulled her away nonetheless.. It was all a Blur really.. What remained of the day just moved while Mildred felt numb.
"We ran after Deliah, got her down into the courtyard.. When the rest of the School came, she ran! But not before Miss Pentangle could give her a good ass kicking!" Felicity had told her.
"You should have seen Miss Drill! It was amazing! She hit Miss Mole with her broom, square on! Turns out, she stole Pentangles founding stones power!" Enid had gossiped.
"I think Mr Rowan-Webb finally got his revenge. Turned Miss Gullett into a Frog and trapped her in a jar.." Maud had sounded only half amused as she'd told Mildred.
It may have been interesting.. But she was far more focused on Hecate. She found herself sitting in her Living room, waiting and waiting as the clock ticked by. She hated the sound it made. Tick Tock. Evenurly she saw The Great Wizard along with Miss Cackle, looking far worse for wear. As they exited the Apartment, she heard the wizard say "She'll be perfectly fine.. Luckily so."
Mildred took this time to sneak into Hecate's room. The Door clicked softly behind her. It was daunting to see her like this.. Lay in bed, bandages covering her arms, looking pale and tired, even when asleep. Mildred sniffled as she moved closer, lying down beside her and giving her a hug.
"Thank you.." Mildred muttered. "Thank you for not leaving me.." She sniffled again, slightly tightening her grip.
She almost jumped when she felt a cold hand touching her arm. "I'm not going anywhere.." Hecate mumbled. Her thumb lightly stroking Mildreds arm.
Mildred Smiled lightly, placing her head onto Hecate's shoulder. "Good. I love you, Hecate.." She'd said it for the second time.. This time with no threat for death, just much needed recovery.
"And I you, Mildred.." It was so quiet, She'd almost missed it. Almost.
And No ones died!
