"Welcome back!" Asia greeted the four individuals as they stepped foot inside the residence.
"You two have a nun in your home?" Jeanne sneered as she stared at the blonde girl who looked away as soon as she heard the servant's tone of voice.
"Yes, Jeanne. She needed a place to stay after being excommunicated so please try to at least act a little bit nice." Naruto sighed.
"I'll act however I damn please."
"Jeanne? Jeanne d'Arc?" Asia looked back up at her, her eyes brightening slightly.
"Heh, don't get your panties in a twist. If you're expecting some kind of grandiose speech from me to tell you that being excommunicated is all in "God's plan" then you're dead wrong." Jeanne smirked as she approached the former nun, "Do you believe that?"
Asia nodded slightly, "I do… The Lord has been kind of enough to allow me to end up in this home for the time being so I trust in Him completely."
Jeanne's smile disappeared as she scoffed, "You poor soul, what an awful day it'll be for you when you finally see the truth with your own eyes. There is no God and no greater plan sure as hell exists."
"I'm sorry you feel that way..." The former nun nodded curtly as her eyes began to well up, her body tensed as she became slightly discouraged to hear those words from such a prominent woman.
"Sorry? I don't need pity. I am simply a realist and I don't need anyone to convince me otherwise. If God truly existed, do you believe he'd let good people suffer as they do? I gave my all in his name and yet, I was still condemned to burn."
Asia looked down unable to say anything, her feet shuffling in place signifying how uncomfortable she felt.
"Now look at what you did, you made her cry!" Rin admonished her servant, "Ignore her, Asia. Come on, let's get you to your room." The Tohsaka heir looked to Asia with a smile before turning to glare at her servant.
Jeanne scoffed as her master led the nun away before turning to Naruto, "You got a problem or something?"
He held up his hands in mock surrender, "I didn't say anything."
"You're lucky you're cute or I'd burn you to ashes." She mumbled before walking upstairs.
"She's quite a pain even though she isn't your servant, wouldn't you say?" Scáthach smiled.
"I find her to be pretty amusing and she's easy on the eyes so that helps me ignore any form of annoyance she might give me." Naruto shrugged.
"I hope you don't let all women win you over with their feminine wiles." Scáthach smiled teasingly.
"Of course not! I do still have standards after all."
"Good, we wouldn't want you to be killed by another female servant just because they have a pretty face."
"Not the worst way to go out but there are better ones." Naruto nodded to himself.
"Oh? And that would be?"
Naruto chuckled, "I suppose I can tell you later."
Scáthach hummed, "I'll be sure to hold you to it."
Fuyuki city's church…
"You are going to summon another servant, Kirei? The warrior queen and that savage girl were enough to scare you?" Gilgamesh asked, a mocking grin adorning his face.
"I am a cautious man, Gilgamesh. And as a cautious man, I would advise you to be wary of the land of shadows' queen."
"I am well aware of what that woman is capable of, Kirei. Do not insult me by telling me how I should act in the face of her." The golden king scoffed, "Who is it you plan to bring in to the fray?"
"This one is a bit of a wild card, and I seriously doubt I can truly have control over her but a few choice words can certainly aid in making sure she doesn't try to instantly kill me."
"Sounds much too troublesome." Gilgamesh looked at his hands in disinterest.
"I came across this relic when I actively hunted Devils. Some high-class collector tried to keep it hidden and I can only assume he had plans to sell it to any high-bidding mage." Kirei hummed as he set down the relic, "It took me some time to learn what it was but you are looking at the gourd that was used to poison Shuten Douji. She was decapitated later that night but this gourd is one of the things that most validates her previous existence."
Gilgamesh looked at the priest again, believing him to be done speaking. Only to sigh in annoyance when he resumed his little summary.
"She'll be a strong servant as she is the daughter of the Great Serpent God, Yamata-no-Orochi and being in her country of origin will give her a great boost."
It was a very droll couple of minutes, Gigamesh didn't see why Kirei saw a point in telling him all of this. He simply didn't care and even if he did all that he needed was the name and he would simply be given any relevant information due to being a servant.
Perhaps the priest simply loved the sound of his own voice.
In Kuoh Academy, the ORC…
"Greetings, Devils!"
"A priestess? To what do we owe the visit?" Rias asked as politely as she could.
Issei looked dumbfounded and whispered to himself, "I don't think I've ever seen any woman from a church dressed like that…"
"That's because my state of dress helps my hunting. If you were on my list Devil boy, you'd be the type I can simply walk up to and stab in broad daylight." Caren giggled with amusement.
Rias frowned, "I don't take lightly to my servants being threatened, priestess."
"Not a threat, miss Gremory. A simple but quite accurate observation." Caren shrugged.
"Well, if you're done making 'observations', why don't you tell us why you're here."
"Oh, you know, I just wanted to meet the Devils I will be looking over from now on. Get a bit of an idea of your personalities."
"I'm sorry, what do you mean by 'looking over' us?" Rias frowned.
Caren smiled as she set down the form that she had given the four families earlier that day, "As you can see, the Vatican and the four founding families have approved for the church's influence to be re-established in this town."
"W-What?!" Rias stood up from her seat indignantly, "Why had we not been informed of this?"
"You're being informed now~." Caren grinned as she stifled her laugh, "You don't need to be informed at all but we wanted to be courteous."
"You know what I mean, priestess." Rias spat out, "Lady Leviathan should have been made aware of this should she not?"
Caren rolled her eyes, "Unfortunately for you, these are not species foreign affairs. It only really concerns the church and the founding families. If you think you had any voice in this matter then you are gravely mistaken, having you and the Sitri sign this is merely another form of courtesy that I frankly don't believe you deserve."
"But—"
Caren stood up abruptly, "If you'll excuse me, I must meet with the Sitri heiress now. Have a good night now."
Rias flopped back down on her chair as soon as Caren left the building.
Akeno looked at her King with concern, "Rias, are you all right…?"
"Why is this happening, so close to their war and the meeting with Riser… There must be something I'm not seeing."
The peerage members looked at each other with concern as the crimson-haired girl muttered to herself.
Rias was quiet for a minute before addressing her peerage, "You can all go back home… I need time to think."
Back in Fuyuki city's church…
"Gilgamesh, would you be willing to grace us with your finest wine?" Kirei asked, not taking his eyes away from the newly summoned servant.
The man said nothing as he summoned his own wine-filled gourd and three golden cups.
The woman looked around with a smile of glee, her fangs protruding, before her eyes set themselves on a familiar object, "Oh? Using the gourd that contained the wine with poison that aided in my demise is a bit insensitive, don't you think?" She asked with a teasing tone.
"One may call it poetic." Kirei said as he handed her one of the cups of wine.
"An interesting point of view." She hummed as she downed the contents of the cup in one go, "Oh to feel the sensation of wine flowing down my throat once again is exquisite~!"
Kirei watched as the Oni picked up the gourd he used to summon her and held it tenderly, "Must have been a shame to be poisoned in such a manner for you."
Shuten brought the object up to her nose and shivered in delight, "Even now I can still smell the sweetness after so long… Truly a shame that I was unable to mix it with that cow's blood, it would have been exquisite~!" She sighed as she finished reminiscing, "This is quite the era I've been summoned in."
"I assume that it's to your liking?" Kirei asked.
Shuten hummed, "That still remains to be seen, but I think I'll enjoy finding out…" She trailed off as she stared at Kirei's command seals, "I am fairly curious as to whether you plan to use those?"
"These? Oh not at all, you are free to do as you please."
The Oni smiled, "Indeed I am, and it would be a shame if I was forced to rip off your arm wouldn't you say?"
"Very regrettable." He nodded curtly.
"I trust that you know if you use even a single command to make me do anything that displeases me I will rip you to shreds and bathe in your blood?"
"Indeed, I am well aware of your reputation." Kirei nodded curtly again.
"Smart priest. I'll be seeing you around then~~." Shuten waved at them with a giggle as she skipped out of the church.
As soon as the building went quiet Gilgamesh couldn't help but burst out in laughter, "And here I thought you were saying you are a cautious man. I suppose even you would make some decisions in poor judgement or maybe you think you are safe with the dog and I constantly around you? Regardless, such a despicable woman will certainly serve as some sort of entertainment for you."
In the morning…
The oni sat atop a rooftop watching as students made their way to school, "Such mundane people, a droll existence most lead. Don't you think so, my darlings?" She held up the skulls of one of the many drunk couples she had picked up the previous night.
It was a good night, she found herself a lovely couple willing to have a good time. Unfortunately for them her idea of fun ended up differently than they probably could've guessed. She sure as hell gave them a final good night, that's for certain.
"Should've gotten yourself a better man, darling." She sighed as she looked at the woman's skull, "Your blood certainly made a good mix with my wine though~…"
Her amusement was cut short as she felt the presence of two servants hiding as their masters headed to school. Her attention was instantly drawn by the blond who had his arm around a brunette, "Oh~ Aren't you a handsome boy? Blonde haired and blue eyed… I wonder how you might taste~." She licked her lips with anticipation before stashing away the bones she had been playing with.
In class, Naruto looked around the room and saw that Shirou was acting fidgety as he stared at Rin and as if sensing he was being looked at, Shirou turned his head back to find Naruto looking at his knuckle containing his command seals. The redhead flinched before quickly covering his hand.
"His servant isn't here. Haven't sensed anything nearby in any of our classes." Naruto noted, "Is he suicidal…? Scáthach, scope out the school and all nearby roofs. If the servant isn't close by we can assume it's an Archer and we'll stay away from any windows with a clear view from a distance away."
"Are you certain, master? I wouldn't want to leave you by yourself."
"As long as I'm around large groups of people I'm confident I won't be attacked." Naruto reassured the woman just as the bell for lunch rang.
"If you're certain… Make sure you don't hesitate to use a command seal to summon me instantly if you require it."
"Your concern is greatly appreciated but I think I'll be fine, Scáthach."
"One can never be too careful." The servant told him before leaving the range of the mental link.
Even without his servant around, Naruto wanted to make sure he covered some of the school ground. He was sure Shinji would probably try to do something stupid in broad daylight, it'd be a bonus if he could see what Sakura was up to and Shirou… Well, he was literally a fish out of water so he wasn't too worried about him.
He was put on higher alert when he began to notice drops of wine, or maybe it was blood. While slightly unnerving, he began to walk towards the direction that they were coming from.
Soon enough he found himself outside being led towards the woods, "Well… Curiosity is a characteristic of vigorous intellect." He shrugged before walking deeper into the forest.
"I am slightly surprised you came out here, especially without your servant." A feminine voice called out in amusement, "Perhaps your good looks have affected your thinking capacity?"
"Maybe I just like to face dangerous things head on." Naruto responded as he looked around the trees.
"Is that so~? Then you're gonna love me." The woman suddenly whispered into his right ear.
Unwilling to show any signs of unease, he turned towards the woman as she took a few steps back.
"Where is your master? What're you doing here?" He asked, expecting another haughty personality to show themselves.
The woman smirked, "Don't have one. Perhaps you could be my master? If I like you enough that is."
He raised an eyebrow, "So I could assume you killed your master?"
"Not at all, I simply don't wish to be near such borish people. I'd rather find amusement somewhere else. Say… Has anyone ever told you that you have very captivating blue eyes?" She leaned forward, her sashless kimono moving to further expose her body.
Naruto found it very hard not to quickly glance, something which he was clearly caught doing.
"You like? I could show you more if you wish." She teasingly opened her kimono and held it down at her waist to reveal her naked body only covered by what seemed to be metal plates on her breasts and crotch.
The blond blinked in confusion, "I have never seen a woman dressed so provocatively, and I can't think of a servant who would do so either off the top of my head."
"Huh, I wasn't quite expecting that for a response."
"Were you expecting me to drool over you?"
"Something of the sort. But this just makes you more entertaining."
"Right… Back to my original question, what are you doing here?"
"Hmmm, an interesting question to ponder. What could I possibly wish from the grail? Perhaps you mean what I'm doing as a servant?"
"Don't try to get smart with me. The more you stall the more likely my servant is to come in here and kill you."
The servant giggled, "Don't threaten me with a good time, we've only just met too. However, I would prefer to stay alive to drink in the wonders of this new era. I gotta say, if Japan was like this back in my day, I would never have grown bored."
Naruto ignored that last comment but made sure to file it away for later, "Then I would suggest leaving if you're not here to kill me."
The woman sighed, "Very well, I suppose we'll have to meet another time… Until then."
Naruto narrowed his eyes as the servant disappeared, her amused laughter echoing through the forest.
He scanned the area for a few more minutes before finally nodding to himself and heading back inside.
Once he sat back in class he was greeted by the voice of his servant, "I found no traces of any servant nearby, nothing even tried to attack me."
The woman waited for a response from her master but found him to be unusually quiet, "Master? Is everything alright?"
"Oh yeah, I just met an interesting individual today. No need to worry just yet."
"If you insist." The astral projected servant sighed to herself.
The rest of the day passed by with no further surprises. Once the bell went off, Naruto walked off to find his fiancée.
"Ah, Naruto, I was thinking we should pay Shirou a visit. Find out what's going through that thick skull of his."
"While I am also slightly curious to know the answer to that, I would prefer us to go home for the time being. There's a servant going around and I want to make sure you at least have Jeanne with you."
Rin frowned, "The servant was here? Shirou's?"
"Doubtful. I don't think he'd have looked so nervous during the day if that was the case and the servant hinted at being involved with more than one person. Perhaps an alliance with another master." Naruto concluded, "Regardless, I think we should be more careful over the next couple of days."
And to no surprise to him, the next couple of days saw an increase in reports of missing people during the night in Fuyuki and Kuoh. Unfortunately, he now had to go and tell the wards of the neighbouring city what exactly was going on.
So now here he was, along with his fiancée, politely waiting to be served some tea by Rias' queen.
"Thank you for taking the time to meet with us. I'm sure you're just as concerned as to the recent disappearances as we are and we can assure you it is not the work of any Devil, stray or otherwise." Rias told the couple as Akeno handed them both a cup.
The Gremory and Sitri heiresses waited patiently as the mage poured himself some tea before doing the same for his fiancée.
He cleared his throat, glanced at the silver haired maid once before he took a small sip, "We're aware. It's probably good for you to know that these are the actions of one of the summoned servants. I would suggest that none of you wander the streets any time past 9 pm."
Rias narrowed her eyes, "So this is the fault of mages?"
Sona frowned, "Rias, please let's remain level-headed."
"Level-headed? Their little war is doing nothing but interrupting our daily routines and you expect me to remain calm, accept this and move on?"
"Yes, we do." Rin answered the Devil, "Be grateful that we've gone out of our way to even tell you anything because it is not a courtesy you extend when it comes to strays."
"Because they don't dare do anything in Fuyuki." Rias growled.
"A testament to the difference in how we all run the respective cities."
The comment made Rias move to sit up only to stop when a circle of flames appeared in the middle of the club room.
"Riser…" Rias looked at her fiancé and his peerage in annoyance.
"Ah the human world, it has been a while. I had almost forgotten how badly it was plagued with the stench of humans and mage's…" Riser looked around the room, his eyes setting on the mage's. "Heh, speaking of vermin. I see you must still be subjected to being around these creatures my dear fiancée. At least the coward isn't here to annoy me further."
"Fiancée?! What does he mean president?" Issei looked around the two Devils in confusion.
Riser ignored the recently reincarnated Devil and turned to Caren, who as the presence of the Church was required to attend any meetings between the Devils and Mages, "I have been made aware by my parents that you are a representative sent by the church. Therefore, you should have the power to have these mages leave this building should you not?"
"What a bold thing for you to ask devil boy." The woman giggled, "I suppose we can leave since Devil business is really no concern to us. But then again, it would be good to get to know a bit about the future husband of our little resident Devil."
Riser scoffed, "I'm not interested in getting to know any of you disgusting Clock Tower wannabe mage's or the Church lackies. Your servants on the other hand… I heard stories of one being reincarnated in your previous war so who's to say I couldn't do the same? It'd be a great boost to my peerage."
Naruto smirked, "I dare you to try."
The Phenex devil sneered, "Gladly."
Rin, along with Sona and Rias tensed up slightly as they fully expect a fight to break out between the two blondes.
The worry of the two Devil heiress' increased when Naruto's servant revealed herself pointing her spear to Riser's throat.
The man stepped back with an elated look on his face, "Truly amazing! To think you could go fully undetected from a high-class Devil like myself."
"Yikes, if weaklings like you and your fiancée are considered high class I could only dread to imagine the rest of your people." Jeanne materialised herself and looked at the present Devils with disgust.
Riser turned to Grayfia, the maid had now taken a more cautious stance as if prepared for a fight and he grinned, "Ah! Such magnificent creatures you two are! Not only is your beauty comparable to the most attractive supernatural women, you are also strong enough to put the strongest queen on edge." He moved to touch Jeanne's cheek in fascination.
"You so much as grace my skin with your breath, I will shove my spears down every vital organ you have and never let you have any respite." Jeanne growled, somehow fighting the urge to torture the young Devil.
"I ask all individuals in this room to please refrain from making any threats to each other… We wouldn't want any words to insult someone to the point of conflict." Grayfia inserted herself in the conversation, trying to keep things diplomatic between all groups.
Riser cleared his throat, "A most sensible observation from the strongest Queen…" He turned to Naruto, "Is she yours and would you be willing to sell her?"
"Why you fucking shitbird!"
"Don't make me use it…" Rin warned her, confusing the Devils as to what she might be referring to.
Jeanne scoffed but backed off regardless, "We both know you aren't so stupid."
"Oh no no no, she isn't mine and before you ask my servant is not up for sale nor will she materialise herself." Naruto cleared his throat, "Anyway, I don't wish to be in your particular presence much longer than I have to… Which has already happened so we will happily be taking our leave."
"Wonderful! I have something to show you two…" Caren giggled.
The Devils watched the mages leave and Riser muttered to himself, "There must be a way to get my hands on at least one of those beings…"
Rias narrowed her eyes at her fiancé before realisation hit her and she smiled.
It would seem it was time for her to pay a little visit to the resident servant terrorising the people.
In the now empty streets of Kuoh city, the Gremory heiress calmly walked around the alleys despite the mandatory curfew that the local police had set down.
She was rather hoping that the individual who elicited such a response would show themselves to her.
"My, my, it's been a few days so I was starting to think I might need to start coming out during the day but you've just made my night~…" The silky voice of a woman called out to her from the darkness, reverberating around the walls, "And aren't you such a pretty one? Oh!" The woman made a sudden noise of realisation, "You're one of the Devils residing in this town aren't you?"
"That's right…" Rias answered the darkness, trying not to tremble at the fact that she could not see or sense who she was speaking to.
"I've never tasted one of your kind before, and practically royalty too~. I'm shocked you've handed yourself to me so easily." Rias could somehow feel the woman luring at her body, "I just know you'll be quite the treat…"
"Unfortunately I would prefer not to die at the moment but I'm sure I can give you something of interest regardless…"
"Oh? Do tell." The servant hummed in amusement.
"I'm sure you've heard of the Phenex clan?"
"I have been given basic knowledge, go on~."
Rias sighed in slight relief, thankful that the woman hadn't decided to kill her yet, "What if I was to offer my fiancé in my stead?"
A laugh echoed through the darkness, "Hahahaha! Who would've thought Devils could be so amusing, like humans in this sense."
A moment of silence passed before the servant spoke up again, "Well? Are you going to expand on how you plan to offer your fiancé? You don't expect me to get him while he's in the Underworld do you?"
"O-Of course not!"
"Wow, that really was your plan…"
Rias stammered as she tried to defend herself, "To be fair, I didn't expect you to actually agree to do it…"
"So then what exactly was your plan if I hadn't and decided to eat you instead?"
"Well I simply would've teleported away…" Rias said, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
The woman laughed, "It is amusing how you believe you would've had the chance to do so."
"We're getting off track here!" Rias raised her voice in frustration, "Is there anything from me that you would need to pull this off? You servants can teleport right?"
"Hahaha! I don't know about others but that is not something I myself can do. All I need from you is a guaranteed manner of transportation that will not be detected nor traced and I can deal with the rest."
"R-Really? That's all?" The heiress was pleasantly surprised that this endeavour had so far proven to be easy and fruitful.
"What, you want me to ask for more?" The servant asked in amusement.
Rias quickly tried to backtrack, "Oh no, that's fine…"
"No no no, since you insisted…" Shuten whispered into Rias' ear, making her tense up at the feel of the woman touching her shoulders, "How about some of your blood? Think of it as payment for my troubles~."
"Do I really need—."
"That isn't a negotiation girl. You will provide me with this, or someone else you know will. Although I doubt very much that you know someone that would enjoy having their blood sucked.
Rias shuddered as the servant licked her fangs and stuttered out, "W-Well, I d-do actually…"
She sighed in relief as the petite servant jumped off her back, "Hahaha! Lucky me then! Shall we go then?"
Rias nodded meekly.
"Cheer up girlie! For all you know this could be the start of a wonderful friendship between you, me and your kinky friend."
The heiress laughed nervously, "Haha, wouldn't that be nice."
A bit short but I really wanted to get this out as soon as possible. Hope you all enjoyed it regardless.
