Katsuki and Shoko walked into the conference room dressed in their hero suits. They could see Iida once more standing at the head of the room. They could also see the bags under his eyes denoting many sleepless nights. It wasn't surprising given the amount of pressure Iida was under. He'd set out to stop a vigilante not take on the entire Yakuza underworld, but they both knew Iida wouldn't give this up until it was done. Shoko could see Kirishima waving them down and took the opportunity to sit next to him followed by Katsuki on his other side. Shoko took a moment to survey the other heroes in attendance.
There hadn't been a gathering of heroes like this since Nighteye's first time going up against the Shie Hassaikai. It was a failed mission that ended in the former sidekick's death and the Shie Hassaikai burrowing even further underground. There had been many who'd wanted to pursue the then-young mob boss, but there just wasn't enough support with the death of All Might heroes who were either quitting or being pulled in ten different directions. One of those heroes was now near the top of the hero ranking; Lemillion.
She spotted her senpai's gold hair near the front she couldn't see his face, but since she couldn't hear his normally enthusiastic voice she could only assume he was devoting his all to this briefing. Alongside him was bubble girl no doubt she and Lemillion would add a lot to this briefing after their first encounter with Overhaul.
The other heroes in attendance were Ryukyuu flanked by Nejire and Ochaco. Ochaco saw Shoko looking in her direction and gave a gentle wave which Shoko reciprocated. Ochaco had always been a good friend to everyone when they were in school. She couldn't think of a single person who didn't like her. In her less confident moments, she wondered if guys preferred girls like Ochaco the bubbly and sweet kind.
Of course, after getting to know Ochaco she could see that below the surface Ochaco had a fierce drive similar to her own. Her drive to support her family had pushed her to new heights and Shoko would always respect that about her. It seemed Inasa had also decided to take part in this mission his exuberance could be heard down the hall quickly approaching. This was probably the biggest gathering of heroes in years and Shoko was honored to be there even if her thoughts were still stuck on Izuku.
Iida gave a cough to garner everyone's attention before speaking. "I'd like to thank you all for coming. I know each of you has your own work to deal with so it means a lot that you're here. I recently formed a team to hunt a vigilante. My attempts have not been fruitful, but in the pursuit of this criminal, I have stumbled upon something worse. There's a plot against hero society and it is being led by this man." Iida said showing a picture of Overhaul on the screen behind him. "His name is Kai Chisaki and this will not be our first time tangling with him. All of you may remember the hero Nighteye."
Iida took a moment looking at Lemillion and Bubblegirl before continuing. "He was aware of the Shie Hassaikai several years ago and performed a raid on their base and lost his life in the process. Chisaki escaped in the process and has since been lying low and steadily building power in the wake of All for One's death." Iida presented a picture of an Erasure bullet. "He has done so by selling these Erasure bullets I'm sure all of you have come across these at one point or another. I'm told that as of now their effects are temporary. These were made by the Shie Hassaikai."
Iida took a deep breath before dropping his next bomb. "Several days ago I was contacted by presumably the very vigilante I was hunting; Ifrit. He gave me Overhaul's location." There were several uncomfortable movements at this revelation. Iida raised his hand. "I know, I know I didn't want to believe it either not after everything he's done. I wished that what he said was a lie to distract us and let him escape, but after some recon done by the members of the Nighteye agency I have no doubt he was telling the truth." Iida waved his hand to Lemillion and Bubble Girl who stood up.
"It's true Lemillion and I did reconnaissance and the setup they have is almost identical to the house we raided several years ago. This is indeed the Shie Hassaikai." Bubble Girl assured everyone before sitting down.
"So as you can see I can't ignore this information no matter its source. This situation has to be handled immediately which is why I have called so many of you here. If Overhaul is allowed to continue on his current path then what little hope remained after the fall of All Might will be snuffed out. All of us here have to stop Chisaki. I have spent the last few days conferring with the Nighteye agency for their experience and have come up with a plan. Thankfully we know at least what some of their members' quirks are and have counters for them." Iida once again looked at Lemillion and Bubble Girl.
"We will all build upon the foundation laid by Sir Nighteye and make sure we succeed. It may be years late, but Nighteye will not have died in vain. Now, who's with me?" Iida asked as all heroes stood up and clapped.
"We're with you Ingenium!"
"Yeah, for Nighteye!"
"Overhaul must be stopped!"
Katsuki sat back in his seat and scoffed.
"Four Eyes always was good at talking pretty." He groused getting a slight elbow in his ribs from Shoko.
"Stop it you know he's good at this. Always has been even back when we were in High school." She said with a small smile on her face.
"Yeah well let's just hope that other idiot stays out of this. We can't cover for him again." Katsuki whispered to Shoko who nodded.
"I know. I already told him I would not hold back if he's there instead of saving that girl." Katsuki looked at Shoko's profile before nodding. He could see Shoko meant business and for that he was relieved. He'd need her to deal with Izuku.
"The operation will be held tomorrow morning I ask all of you to take the day off and rest and gather all the supplies you'll need. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link and if we're going to capture Chisaki we all need to be at our best."
Chisaki had not been sleeping well these past few days. The threat of Ifrit hanging over his head was too much for him to relax. He could withstand a few days of lackluster sleep, but his men were not the same. Some were so nervous they couldn't sleep at all, jumping at the slightest noise. He'd lost count of the number of times an itchy trigger finger had wounded one of his men. At this rate, Ifrit would be storming a castle of bullet-riddled corpses. Others had simply run out of enthusiasm. Their fervor for defending their base against opposition had only lasted a day now they were thinking that it had been a false alarm.
He grits his teeth as he looked through the cameras seeing some of his men nodding off from lack of sleep while others were goofing off playing cards or slacking off in some other way. "Idiots!" He growled sitting back in his chair. Ifrit had sent him that picture days ago why hadn't he attacked yet? What was his game? Could he be waiting for a time just like this when his men were tired and bored or was he after Eri and his little taunt had succeeded in making Overhaul turtle himself cutting Dr. Ujiko off from quick reinforcements? Chisaki looked at his phone not seeing so much as a text message from Dabi.
He resisted the urge to call either the doctor or the fire villain. "No news is good news." He said only to shake his head. He'd taken to speaking to himself more often. Normally he could count on Chrono's council, but sadly that was no longer the case. He sighed as he reached into his drawer and pulled out a small bottle of Sake. He poured himself a glass before placing the bottle on his desk. He pulled off his mask sipping the burning Sake. Overhaul stared at the bottle as he remembered the man who gave it to him. "Why couldn't you understand what I was doing Old Man?" He sighed before shaking his head.
"No time for that I have a dream to accomplish and no one is going to stop me. No hero, villain or vigilante. I will put the Yakuza back on top no matter the cost." He said draining the glass as a massive rumble ran through his complex. "It's about time." He said slamming the glass down on the table and standing up. Chisaki replaced his mask and walked out of his office. Overhaul pulled his phone out and called Mimic for a status report. "Mimic where is Ifrit?" He asked only to hear the heavy panting of his now second-in-command.
"It's not Ifrit sir it's heroes, dozens of them!" Overhaul's eyes widened at this revelation. Ifrit had played him. He'd sent that picture knowing Chisaki would hunker down rather than flee at the notion of a single vigilante storming his castle. Now he was being besieged by heroes his men were exhausted and unfocused from several days of constant surveillance. "Repel them!" Overhaul shouted. "We've been here before and this will end just the same!" He shouted remembering the last hero who thought he was a match for the Shie Hassaikai. "If the heroes are here then where's Ifrit?!" He asked himself.
The Vigilante was bloodthirsty there was no way he was willing to just step aside and let the heroes take him in. What was his plan? As he thought about it there was only one place that he could be heading. Overhaul heard another crash this one louder meaning it was closer. He ignored the incoming threat as he called Dr. Ujiko. The phone rang and rang again but there was no answer. "Where are you?!" Overhaul shouted to the still-ringing phone before hanging up and calling Dabi. This time his call was answered. Dabi was speaking, but not to him.
"Nice to see you Ifrit or should I call you Izuku?"
Iida rubbed his eyes a final time before putting on his helmet. He'd gone over the plan several times with both Bubble Girl and Lemillion. They'd made sure to go over their original plan for the first time they'd challenged Chisaki. "The biggest thing was we didn't know how many men he had or what their quirks were. We knew he was the boss, but the number of men he had under him was more than we expected. Thankfully a lot of his men were arrested back then, and we know a lot more about the ones who weren't." Bubble Girl pulled out several Dossiers on each of the missing Yakuza members.
Iida had studied them intensely over the last few days and with Bubble Girl and Lemillion's help, he thought he'd brought the best counters for each villain. The hardest thing to account for was the new members and the cannon fodder. He'd need a lot of crowd control at the beginning of the operation. Iida tapped his helmet activating his mic. "Alright everyone the operation begins in three…two…one!" The Yakuza base was immediately surrounded as police cars sped down the road encircling the base cops poured out of them and took cover behind their vehicles as they drew their guns.
"This is the Police, you are surrounded drop your weapons and surrender!" The Yakuza were slow to react after so many days on edge they went to raise their guns only to be fired upon by the cops and those that weren't injured had to take cover. From his vantage point on a nearby building's roof, Iida spoke into his mic again.
"Now everyone, move in while they're suppressed!" Instantly the walls of the compound were besieged by heroes. Red Riot led the charge as he ran full force and threw his shoulder into the Yakuza base's gate shattering it under the force of his blow. Ryukyu swooped along the wall knocking Yakuza from it. Red Riot rolled on the ground before coming to his feet as bullets slammed into his hardened skin sparking off the reinforced surface. Kirishima knew his job and did it well as he drew aggro from the thugs giving his allies time to infiltrate. There was a cold burst of air as Ice flowed across the ground skirting around Kirishima before trapping the defending Yakuza in place.
Red Riot looked over his shoulder and gave a thumbs-up as Shoko walked into the base. "Nice work Iceburn." He said as police filed into the compound slapping cuffs on the frozen Yakuza. An explosion rang out over them before Ground Zero landed in front of the door to the main house.
"We don't have time for this let's get on with it!" Katsuki growled kicking in the door and used an explosion to blast himself to the side avoiding another hail of gunfire.
"Come on Bakugou man I'm supposed to take the lead! We don't know if these guys are using Erasure bullets or not!" Kirishima shouted barreling into the open door and taking the fire. Kirishima punched the first thug he reached knocking him to the ground before chopping through the next guy's gun with his hardened hands. He cleaved through the fodder making way for his comrades. This was what he was meant to do with his quirk be both the unbreakable spear and impenetrable shield. Iida dropped to the ground surveying the subdued Yakuza before speaking into his comms.
"The entrance and courtyard have been secured we're proceeding to the next stage," Iida reported.
"Heard you loud and clear Ingenium there should be a hidden entrance somewhere in the house that will bring you to the lower levels." Bubble Girl advised from the nerve center of the Idaten Van.
"We've got it covered. Earphone Jack." Iida said as from behind him Kyoka Jiro walked out. Earphone Jack brought down a visor over her eyes as she plugged her jacks into two different walls.
"Echo Veil," Kyouka said as her heartbeat pounded through the walls revealing the layout of the house and its hidden entrances. "There's one in the hallway just past the first turn-off on the right-hand wall. There's another in the living room behind the TV." She said before retracting her jacks and handing her visor to Iida so he could make a copy of their current layout. Iida nodded as he made the copy and then handed her visor back. One of the problems Bubble Girl and the rest of the Nighteye team had run into was the moving maze they'd had to navigate once they were underground. To negate that Iida had enlisted the help of Jiro to be their surveyor.
"Alright everyone I've uploaded the schematics to your digital assistants. I want us to split into two teams. Ground Zero, Ice Burn, Red Riot, and Jiro take the doorway in the hall. Myself, Lemillion, and Gale Force will take the doorway in the living room. We'll use Gale Force's wind to navigate once we're below ground. Everyone else once the courtyard has been secured break off into two teams and follow after us."
"Yes sir." Everyone agreed before going down their assigned paths.
Overhaul watched the cameras in the underground complex seeing heroes enter his home and trample over his men once again. His eyes zeroed in on one in particular the blonde hair and that visor. He remembered him from when Nighteye stormed his base before. "Lemillion." The boy was a real threat and unlike last time he didn't have the force to throw at him. Chisaki would have to deal with Lemillion himself.
As he ran through the compound stopping every dozen feet or so to let Gale Force use his wind to determine the path ahead so many thoughts ran through Lemillion's head The last words of Nighteye to him telling him he'd be the greatest hero, then memories of the first time they'd gone after Chisaki and the failure that ended in his mentor's death. The final thing that was on his mind was when he first came across Overhaul. Sir Nighteye had been tracking the Yakuza for weeks, but it was on a common patrol that Lemillion had run across Chisaki.
Lemillion was walking down the sidewalk trying to be as nonchalant as he could in his flamboyant hero costume. He greeted each person he came across as he would any other day. Sir had sent him out to do recon on the area surrounding Overhaul's main base. They all needed to be as familiar with the area as possible just in case the battle spilled out of the base and onto the streets. Lemillion had just waved to a group of school kids when he stepped in front of an alley and felt someone crash into his leg. He looked down to see a small child with long silver hair, ruby-red eyes, and a small horn on the right side of her forehead.
Lemillion kneeled down to the little girl. "Are you ok?" He asked holding out his hand to her.
"Now look what you've done Eri. You're causing problems for everyone today." Lemillion grabbed the girl's hand as he stood up straight lifting her to her bare feet. Her hand was shaking horribly in his and he could see her eyes widen in terror before he looked at the man speaking. Lemillion was grateful for his visor that gave him a chance to school his face as he recognized his target; Kai Chisaki.
"I'm sorry about that Mr. Hero I turned my head for a second and she wandered off. It's time to go home Eri." Chisaki said glaring down at the little girl. Lemillion's stomach churned at the look of anger in Overhaul's eyes, but he had to stay composed. If he let anything slip it might tip off Chisaki or worse spook him and he'd run.
"Sir, are you saying this child is yours?" He asked feeling the girl shift slightly away from Overhaul as if even the slightest few inches would make her safer. Overhaul's yellow eyes turned to Lemillion. The crinkles around his eyes let Lemillion know he was smiling under that massive beak on his face.
"Why yes, I am. I'm sorry she interrupted your very important work. Would you mind giving her back to me so we don't hold you up anymore?" That was the crux of the situation. If Lemillion put up any resistance Chisaki would immediately grow suspicious, but if he let this girl back into his custody there was not a doubt in his mind a severe punishment would be laid down on her. Mirio waffled back and forth before making his decision. For the best outcome of the operation, he had to let her go. They'd save her later he'd make sure of that. She'd just have to wait a little bit longer.
"Of course sir," Lemillion said picking up the small girl and placing her into Overhaul's arms. As he did so Mirio's heart shattered after looking into the girl's eyes. They had gone dark. He could see clearly she had lost all hope being utterly broken by the fact that this person she'd asked for help had done the exact opposite.
"Thank you." Overhaul said before turning around and walking off with Eri. Lemillion watched those despondent red eyes disappear down the alley. That moment would haunt him and the feeling only intensified after the death of Nighteye and their failed mission. He'd promised himself he'd save her and he'd failed himself and more importantly, he failed her.
"Not this time I will save her or die trying. I can't fail her again!" Lemillion thought to himself as he rounded the corner only for the walls to start closing around them. Mirio remembered this happening before and he'd let Iida know about this particular ability as well so no one was surprised when it happened. They stayed focused and refused to break apart. Mirio used his quirk to pass through the walls while Iida used his speed to avoid and break the would-be barricades before they had a chance to close. Gale Force was using his winds to predict where the new obstacles would be coming from by reading the disturbed air pressure.
From his vantage point hidden in the ceiling, Mimic growled angrily at the heroes sidestepping his efforts so easily. He had to try harder Overhaul had given him one mission. "Mimi, separate the blonde hero from everyone else and bring him to me. I'll settle our score." It was proving easier said than done as the three heroes stubbornly stuck together.
It was at this point that Gale Force spoke to Iida covering his words with the whirling wind so no one outside their comms could hear him. "Ingenium I've found the guy he's in the ceiling I can feel his breath through my wind." He said as Iida nodded.
"It seems he's trying to separate Lemillion from the rest of us. Let's give him what he wants. Lemillion go forward while we deal with him!" Iida shouted with Lemillion nodding in agreement. Up to this point, Lemillion had made sure to stick close with the group not having to worry about being caught in the swirling mass of stone walls, but with Ingenium's go-ahead he broke from the pack rushing forward. Mimic didn't miss this change in formation and capitalized on it by slamming the path shut just as Lemillion passed through it.
This lapse in concentration would cost the high-ranking Yakuza as he didn't notice Ingenium being blasted right towards him by Inasa's wind. "Recipro Kick!" Iida's engines went into overdrive pushing his leg forward and crushing the concrete that was hiding mimic into his abdomen. The villain's eyes bugged out of his skull as the air was driven from him. Iida grabbed the villain by his collar as he kicked off the ceiling and drove him toward the ground slamming his leg into the Yakuza's back right before impact.
Ingenium stood over Mimic as Inasa ran over to him. "Nice teamwork chief!" Inasa said holding his thumb out to Ingenium who shook his head.
"It's too early to celebrate just yet Gale Force. Until we have Overhaul in custody our job is not done. Now come on we need to find our way back to Lemillion. This villain was trying to separate us from him for some reason. Whatever it was couldn't have been good." Iida said as he cuffed Mimic before he and Inasa began to try and find a way out of this space.
Overhaul was walking through the compound heading to the predetermined spot that Mimic would lead Lemillion to. "I'll make sure to send you to your mentor." Overhaul promised as he entered the room that would serve as Lemillion's tomb. It was small enough that Lemillion wouldn't be able to escape any of his attacks and would allow Overhaul to keep a good distance from the hero. He knew from their last encounter that Lemillion preferred close combat so Overhaul would keep him away while steadily whittling him down with long and mid-range attacks.
Suddenly Overhaul heard footsteps heading in his direction. He smiled behind his mask as Lemillion entered the room. The two locked eyes and Overhaul could see the anger in his eyes. "I feel the same." Overhaul said as he slammed his hand into the ground creating spikes that would impale themselves into Mirio but passed harmlessly through his body as they destroyed the entrance behind him.
"I knew that wouldn't hit you I just wanted to give us some privac-." The wall behind Overhaul exploded outward as a figure appeared in the dust. Hekiji Tengai moved forward and for a moment Overhaul overlooked the interruption appreciating the backup only for Hekiji to fall face-first onto the ground revealing he'd been held aloft by Ground Zero. Overhaul's eyes widened as he looked at Ground Zero and Iceburn walking out of the destroyed entrance.
"Looks like we made it just in time," Katsuki said as he glared at Overhaul remembering what Chronostasis said the villain had been doing for the past seven years.
"You defeated Hekiji and Rappa I'm surprised," Overhaul said trying to keep his calm as he stood surrounded by three heroes. This was not the plan but so be it he could and would adapt to this new situation.
"It's over Chisaki, surrender. Your men are being taken away as we speak. It will only be a matter of time before-." Lemillion was cut off as Chisaki activated his quirk on the ground again summoning spikes to attack Ground Zero and Iceburn. Shoko used her ice to slide out of the way of the erupting spikes while Katsuki blasted each incoming spike shattering them before they could do any damage but even he had to give some ground against the onslaught. Lemillion dove into the ground only to reappear shooting up out of it next to Overhaul and throwing a kick.
Overhaul used his quirk to create a platform and launch himself out of the path of Lemilillion's kick. Chisaki soared through the air landing in the middle of the ring of spikes he'd made around Hekiji's unconscious body. Katsuki being the closest raised his gauntlet and pulled the pin releasing a massive explosion toward Overhaul. The villain was overtaken by a swath of smoke as Lemillion and Shoko looked on waiting for any sign of movement from within the smoke. Shoko was the first to see it and activated her ice quirk. Katsuki watched as a wall of ice shot up in front of him only to be punctured as a hand punched through it inches from his face.
The blonde hero jumped back as the wall of ice crumbled to pieces revealing Overhaul in his new twisted form. He had four arms now one pair was composed of a red mass of flesh in the loose shape of human arms. It seemed like Chisaki's mask had also fused to his face. Shoko could now see there was no sign of the man called Hekiji on the ground. Katsuki's explosion had been devastating, but not enough to completely destroy a human body. There was only one reason there was no longer a body there.
Shoko's suspicions were proven right in the next moment when Katsuki launched an explosion toward Overhaul only for a golden barrier to appear in front of him produced by the two extra arms he now had. Lemillion clenched his fists as he glared at Overhaul. "You monster! He was one of your men and you, you just broke him down to save your own skin." Overhaul stood up and looked over his shoulder at Lemillion.
"Of course I did. I put his body to use after he'd failed in the mission I gave him. He should be grateful he can still be of use!" Shoko blasted flames toward Overhaul enveloping him and his barrier in her outburst.
"Is that how you think?! Is that what you tell yourself when you torture that little girl!?" Shoko shouted her flames increasing in volume and intensity bathing Overhaul in her heat. His barrier may prevent the flames from getting to him, but they couldn't keep out all the heat, and most of all they couldn't help him breathe in that raging inferno as it consumed all the nearby oxygen. Spikes rose from the ground all around Shoko looking to impale her. She reacted quickly by breaking off her assault and blasting fire from her right foot narrowly avoiding the spike trap.
Freed from the flames Overhaul moved to face his next threat. He created a barrier to block Katsuki's explosion before reaching for Katsuki's face. He was going to disassemble him and would have succeeded if not for the appearance of Mirio at his side and slugging him in the face knocking his hand off course. Overhaul growled as he fell onto his back slamming all four of his hands on the ground making a forest of pillars around himself. Katsuki blasted himself through the air narrowly avoiding the many pillars before grabbing hold of one and hanging from the side as he looked down at Overhaul and Mirio exchanging blows.
The blonde hero passed through every attack Overhaul launched only to counter with one of his own that was then blocked by one of Overhaul's barriers. Katsuki looked up and locked eyes with Shoko. It was clear that they wouldn't be of any use in close range but from a distance, they could lend Mirio support. Both nodded as Katsuki leaped from his pillar diving down on Overhaul with an explosion from above. Overhaul raised a hand to create a barrier to block the explosion as Lemillion threw another punch passing through Overhaul's barrier and landing a blow to his gut.
The villain stumbled back before placing his hands on two pillars making them break apart showering Lemillion and Bakugou in shrapnel. Mirio phased through the bombardment as Bakugo curled in on himself using his bracers and kneepads to block most of the damage only sustaining gashes here and there. Katsuki landed a ways away from Overhaul as Mirio stood tall seeing the villain gripping his stomach and glaring at him.
"You damn heroes I'll make sure you all bow to the Yakuza or be trampled by us!" Overhaul shouted. The three heroes before him reset themselves and stared the villain down.
"Just try it, you ugly bastard! We, heroes, aren't going to bow to you!" Ground Zero shouted.
"He's right we wouldn't deserve to be called heroes if we failed at capturing you twice," Shoko stated her right side flaring up with flames as her left was coated in a thin sheen of ice.
"That's right! We will stop you Chisaki no matter what because that's what heroes do!" Lemillion affirmed.
