Hey everyone I'm back, and remember what I said about how I was thinking about making The Melody of Your Heart multi-chaptered?
Well...I guess the Universe urged me to do so. And usually I am not good with multi-chaptered fanfics but this was so much fun to write and I am excited to see where this story goes. I am truly reaching new heights on my journey as a writer. I hope all you enjoy this and stay tuned for more.
Obvious disclaimer of Miraculous Ladybug belongs to Thomas Astruc and ZAGToon. This is just a fanfic written by a fan.
Marinette's journey into the musical world started with a regal gift from Felix that she hated. Then a beautiful thoughtful gift given to her by local hero Viperion. Marinette thought it was funny how Felix gave her a gift from his ego under the guise of being from his heart, and yet, Viperion's gift showed her how pure a heart he had. He was a true hero, and Marinette blushed at the thought of him. She wondered if she and the dashing young hero would cross paths again.
And now her journey has taken her to the up-and-coming band called Kitty Section. Marinette could already feel herself becoming a fan. Luka's younger sister Juleka played the bass, Ivan played the drums, Ivan's girlfriend Mylene, and Juleka's girlfriend Rose sang vocals. And Luka sounded amazing as he played his electric guitar.
All of them played off each other perfectly and were so talented. Marinette could only dream about reaching the heights they were reaching. Still, all members of Kitty Section were overjoyed to have Marinette as their audience, and they gave it their all, playing in perfect harmony. A few times Marinette felt inspired and compelled to run her fingers through her pink harp to try to reach her music to them as well.
And when Kitty Section gave their best finale ever, Marinette felt truly starstruck. The band members rejoiced even if this was just an informal performance with Marinette as their sole audience member.
"Thank you so much!" Mylene cried through the microphone.
"We are Kitty Section!" Rose chimed in.
Marinette stood up from her seat and clapped her hands. "That was really great everyone!"
Marinette promptly got on the stage to continue praising her new friends.
"It was a pleasure, Marinette," Luka said as he smiled at her.
"We are still climbing the ladder," Ivan chimed in. "We started off as garage performers, but when we met Juleka and Luka, we upgraded to boat performers," Ivan sighed. "We are certainly going places."
Mylene took a moment to hug her boyfriend. "I think being The Liberty's band is a wonderful thing my dear." Ivan smiled as he found it hard to argue with his lovely girlfriend.
"Really, all of you were fantastic!" Marinette beamed.
She turned to Rose. "Rose and Mylene's vocals were amazing! It was almost angel-like."
"And Juleka, your bass guitar could beat my harp in a fight!"
Marinette only knew Juleka briefly, but she already knew she was soft-spoken. Yet right now, Juleka smiled as she moved the long dark hair covering her right eye.
"And Ivan, the drums are important!" Marinette cried. "You are certainly the backbone of the group!"
"Thanks Mari," Ivan mumbled, and Mylene was overjoyed as she hugged her boyfriend tighter.
"And Luka."
The blue-haired boy turned to her, and Marinette covered her lips with her hands.
"You're the best guitar player I know. You really know her to convey your feelings with music and play what's in your heart…."
Marinette could honestly go on. Luka was born with the gift of music.
She batted her eyelashes and pressed her fingers together. "You kind of remind me of someone I know…."
Luka's eyes widened, and then Marinette quickly realized she had probably said something insensitive. Every band member seemed curious about what Marinette meant, and she quickly held her hands up.
"I mean!" Marinette tried to think fast so she wouldn't offend anyone. "Like one of those famous rockstars!"
Mylene casually mentioned to Rose and Juleka how Luka was coming off as one of those big teen heartthrobs, and then one big conversation started. Marinette was a least relieved that she started a big conversation rather than saying something to offend everyone.
"Yeah! One day our boy Luka will make everyone swoon with his blue hair and ripped clothes, and he will be on a band t-shirt!" Ivan joked.
Marinette cringed because she didn't mean for Luka to be joked about like that. But when she looked back at Luka, he smiled warmly. Marinette still felt the need to apologize as she pulled herself together.
"I'm so sorry Luka," She said with a slight bow. "I know I am not making a lot of sense right now. Sometimes my words get tied up in my mouth."
Luka responded by placing his hand on her shoulder causing Marinette to blush.
"It's ok Marinette. This is your first time in the world of music. You're bound to be a bit starstruck."
Luka didn't know the half of it! He had such a gentle touch, and Marinette started to feel those warm and fuzzy feelings again. But she couldn't fall in love with every cute guy that existed because she would get hurt. Besides, she connected with Viperion because of the beautiful pink harp he gave her. She would meet him again. She would make sure of it. So, as much as Luka was adorable in his style, looks, and how sweet and mature he was, she couldn't just say that now.
Marinette moved from Luka's touch, but Luka didn't argue, which was very sweet that he wasn't possessive like a certain rich boy. She went to get her harp which she had left on the patio chair she sat on. She held the shiny pink harp close to her heart and returned to Luka, who still smiled at her as if she wasn't Paris's most awkward person. Marinette shyly looked down at her feet before asking him a question.
"Would you like to play your guitar along with my harp?"
But before Luka could answer, everyone's phones rapidly went off with akuma alerts. Marinette nearly lost her breath, and suddenly Captain Anarka appeared on deck.
"Children! Get your instruments and get below deck quickly!"
Marinette held her harp even tighter, and Luka grabbed his guitar and got in front of her to protect her. She couldn't bring herself to leave without Luka. Still, Luka gave her a serious look, and Marinette nodded before running below deck to be with the others. Thankfully Luka followed suit.
Marinette sighed as she sat on one of the many floor pillows. The Liberty was certainly a comfortable home, and she could get used to staying nice and safe here during akuma attacks.
"I'll be right back everyone!" Luka cried.
Marinette suddenly felt distressed when she saw Luka heading above deck as if Paris wasn't being terrorized right now.
"Leaving again Luka?" Juleka said.
Marinette gasped as she quickly stood up. And Luka turned to give her a reassuring smile that made him seem like such a cute idiot! The other members of Kitty Section gathered around Marinette.
"I'll be fine. It's just my job to protect the deck furniture," Luka said.
Juleka placed her hand on Marinette's shoulder and whispered into her ear. "He does this all the time."
"Get some milk and maybe some ice cream too!" Anarka chimed in nonchalantly.
Marinette nearly choked on her saliva.
"Sure thing Mom!" Luka said with an optimistic smile. "I'll be right back Marinette. You won't even miss me!" Luka said before shutting the door behind him.
But Marinette held her hands over her heart and frowned when he left. She stood there for a few minutes while her friends were doing busy work. Marinette couldn't help but wonder why Luka would do something so reckless when their phones gave them akuma alerts. She pleaded silently that Luka would find some sense and just let Viperion and the other heroes keep Paris safe for everyone.
"Marinette!" Rose cried.
Marinette winced as the members of Kitty Section sat on the cushions in a circle. And Anarka was in the background working on a personal project. She gave Marinette a knowing smile.
"Luka does this all the time Marinette. He will be fine," Anarka said. "He is the man of the home, after all."
"Besides, you can play cards with us!" Rose grinned as she held up a deck.
Marinette turned back one last time before falling on one of the cushions and playing cards with the others. And with her new friends, she was smiling and laughing while playing the most stimulating game of cards. But when her phone finally notified her of an all-clear notice, she felt a pang of guilt for having fun when Luka wasn't with them right now. They were a band, after all, and this band wasn't much without Luka.
The members of Kitty Section were still happy-go-lucky though, and Ivan threw up some cards in triumph.
"Full house! Full house! Full house!" Ivan cried as all the girls laughed.
But one card flew in Marinette's direction and caught it before she turned the card over. It was three hearts.
Marinette thought about the card for a moment, and then she remembered the all-clear notice and got up to grab her harp. Everyone else below deck was grateful that today was a relatively fine day in Paris, and everyone was eager to eat. Still, Marinette held her harp close to her and headed up to the main deck.
Enough time passed for the sky above her to turn pink, and the wind blew through her hair as she searched around. Paris was quiet right now, and Marinette remembered that because of Viperion and the other heroes, Paris could sleep soundly tonight.
Marinette strummed a gentle tune on her harp and let the wind play with her as she tried to match the wind's energy. She enjoyed the feeling of music coming from her fingers gliding on the harp strings. However, Marinette was still a beginner, and she felt her melody wasn't reaching any heights.
Then she heard another harp in the distance.
Marinette gasped and saw Viperion standing on top of The Liberty, playing his harp and smiling at her. She needed a moment to breathe because she thought she was dreaming. But she waved to him as he played his beautiful tune, and Viperion took a moment to wave back.
Marinette was about to jump for joy and run to him, but before she could, Viperion's bracelet beeped, and he took a step back before giving her a sorrowful smile. Marinette lowered her hand and frowned as Viperion saluted her before he used his powers to transport himself away. She held her precious harp to her heart and hung her head before she decided to head back below deck to spend time with her friends.
"Hey Marinette!"
That time Marinette's heart nearly fell out of her chest as she quickly turned to see Luka running to The Liberty with shopping bags.
"Luka!"
Luka panted as he quickly ran to Marinette's side. "Sorry for making you wait!"
Marinette pouted slightly. "Luka, how can you go to the grocery store at a time like this?"
Luka chuckled before showing Marinette the shopping bag with plenty of ice-cold treats. "The band needs snacks. There is plenty of ice cream and milk to make hot chocolate."
Marinette would scold him some more, but she felt less willing to argue as she took a strawberry popsicle from the shopping bag. "Thank you for your service Luka," Marinette said with a huff.
Luka laughed again as he wrapped his arm around her, causing her to blush momentarily. Still, Marinette tried her best to brush it off.
"Everything is fine now," he assured her. "Let's head back down and feast with the others."
Marinette smiled and rolled her eyes. "Alright Luka."
Marinette and her friends were grateful for another peaceful night in Paris, spending time with each other and expressing themselves with their instruments. Occasionally she would think about how cool Viperion looked playing his harp on top of the boat and how time stopped whenever she crossed paths with him.
But Luka was also always right beside her, making her smile. He was charming and got even cuter every time she saw him.
Marinette guessed that Luka was an everyday hero in his own way.
