Chapter 9: Sorrow, Hate and unhealthy coping mechanism...

Things are going haywire at the Konoha hospital. One of the disadvantages of pursuing a vocation as dangerous as that of shinobi.

The legendary god of shinobi was currently standing in front of one of the many hospital rooms, looking at the only occupant, a masked brown-haired boy who was staring at a wall, motionless and with empty red eyes.

"How is he Hiruzen?"

The addressed old man turned slightly to the side and looked at his old teammate and increasingly, nowadays, thorn in his eye.

After all that Danzo had done and caused, the Third Hokage did not want him near Pīta. Especially not considering that he was responsible for part of the young geniuses trauma.

"What are you doing here, Danzo? You have no business here!" with a grumbling voice, the Terror of the Five Nation questioned his old rival.

"I have every reason to be here considering my student is in there and had a near devastating panic attack today." Calm yet with a sharp edge in his tone, the darkness of the shinobi replied.

The student of Hashirama and Tobirama just looked at him darkly in response. After a moment of silence, he spoke again, "Danzo, your root program is on hold. Consequently, Pīta is no longer under your training. Therefore, you have no reason to be here."

Danzo was about to reply when one of the doctors came and interrupted them.

"I am sorry for the disturbance Hokage-sama but I am here with the report of Pīta Pāka's physical and mental condition."

"Please continue Doctor Ozaki" without giving Danzo a chance to say anything else, Hiruzen spoke to hear the doctor's report.

"Young Pāka seems to be malnourished and suffering from insomnia. There seems to be a chemical imbalance in his body, which indicates PTSD. His mental state seems to be even worse, he seems to see the world in a hateful light.

The genjutsu he suffered not too long ago has done a lot of damage to him. If this keeps up, he's going to burn out. It's a scary thing, considering that normally this only happens to people three times his age who have been on several A rank or at least at one or two ugly S rank missions."

After the report and some other trivia regarding the treatment of the patient, the doctor went to his next patient and the Hokage sighed with a sad expression on his face.

'Oh Pīta, I'm sorry my boy, you have had to endure far too much and now you had to suffer through it all alone. But don't worry young one I will...'

"Hiruzen, you may think the boy needs therapy, but we both know he's too smart for that. He will only ever tell his therapist what he wants them to hear. He needs a distraction, a direction. He needs a Goal, something that will occupy him. He needs a reason to become stronger or his abnormal potential will be wasted"

Danzo took a deep breath and looked with his good eye into Pīta's room. Suddenly, his eyes widened and he looked in with shock

The Hokage, apparently oblivious to Danzo's shock, was about to say something when he too looked into the future shinobi's room.

"Danzo, this almost indifferent attitude towa...Where did he go?"

"Anbu find him and bring him back now!"

It is dark and the forest not far from Konoha is disturbed in its natural sounds by an intruder

A dark figure about 4.5 feet (1.36m) tall was in an area, that looked like a battlefield of a bloody war. All around him were craters, splintered wood, tree stumps and burn marks. Everywhere lying shattered stones.
From the hands of the figure dripped slowly but incessantly a dark red liquid...blood. His Blood.

The boy, panting heavily, keeps repeating the same sentence, "Too weak, too untalented, too stupid".

With each word, the boy raises his fist and hits the rock in front of him. The hatred flows in him so strongly, it is almost as if there is a flaming aura around him.

The eyes of the figure are a deep dark red, burning with a fire of hatred and sorrow.
His hair is mostly brown except for a few places which appear to be white or a light grey.

When the crescent moon is no longer obscured by the scattered clouds and casts the now clearing in a soft white silvery light, Pītā hears a noise behind him.

'The Anbu? How, I'm suppressing my chakra like Ita-that monster taught me?'

But instead of a human, a large grizzly bear stepped into the clearing. He sniffed the air once, then looked at Pītā and roared at him.

While the bear stands up on its hind paws to look more threatening and imposing, Pītā just looks at him contemptuously, clicks his tongue once, and says in a gravelly voice

"I recommend that you leave me alone now. Or...I'll kill you".

The bear's response was simply to pounce on him with a deafening roar. If someone knows the nature as he does, can undestand the language of the animals like him, they'd knew the bear would never back down in his teritorry.

A calmer and wiser man would back down to avoid blood shed, but Pīta...his pride and Hate demanded of him to satisfy his insticts of a Predator, his thirst for blood.

After a short battle in his heart Pītā sighed once, straightened up a bit, closed his eyes for a moment and was suddenly next to the bear...his hand in the bear's back.

With an ugly wet sound, he pulled his hand out and held the bear's heart in his hand, while the bear landed on the ground with a loud crash, thanks to its velocity. This happend all in an Eye blink.

The hunter looked at the heart in his hand, and as the heart was lying heavy in his hand, his own heart throbbed heavy and painfully in his chest.

A tear found its way into the fabric of his mask as Pītā relived all the deaths, whether of his clansmen or the men he had killed be it the one from Kiri when he fled or the ones Danzo made him Kill. And suddenly he was no longer in the forest but in the village, it was a full moon now. He saw Blood on the he looked up and widened his eyes,

He had just seen Itachi kill two members of the uchiha police force. The boy from the Shukeikō clan called out the name of the traitor.

Itachi looked at him and his eyes widened slightly.
He told Pītā to leave because he had no business here.

Clash. Metal meets metal.

With fast movements, the two prodigies fought against each other. One with a kunai, the other with a ninjato.

After a well-placed tsukuyomi on his former kohai, his once beloved student and friend, Itachi said the words "You are weak Pītā-kun. Me and Shisui were always helding back against you. You are just too weak. If you had been better...your mother might still be alive."

As soon as he uttered those words, a bloody cry of pain was heard throughout most of Konoha from...Itachi Uchiha.

"Pītā do you hear me? Pītā? He's in a state of shock, be careful. Bring me a mednin and do it now. Hurry!"

(Next day)

After last night's events, the Anbu stood guard outside Pītā's hospital room.
After the boy awoke from his shock-induced sleep sometime around noon, Inoichi Yamanaka came into his room and spoke with him for almost an hour.

"Pītā if you don't start opening up, if you don't stop deflecting all the questions soon, it's going to end for you in a way that's not good."

With genuine concern in his voice, the head of the Yamanaka clan spoke to the growing boy. There was genuine concern in his eye for the child before him, after all, he has a daughter of that age himself.

The addressed boy was silent and closed his eyes.

The blond man just sighed deeply and tried another strategy. "Pītā, have you thought about going back to the academy? Your friends there miss you, especially Naruto. He already tried to break into your room twice."

With a slight chuckle and a smile on his lips, Inoichi told him this.
"You should have seen the mess he made, all the hospital staff chased after him while he was wearing a doctor's coat."

As Ino's father squinted at Pītā, he saw one corner of his lip twitch slightly as if to smile. With a joyful grin, he continued. "On his second try, you would have loved this prank he pulled, he got himself some stilts to look taller. And he glued a fake mustache on his face and wore a wig. Then he stole one of the doctors' scrubs, again.
Then he took one of the patients' files to look smart, but forgot that he didn't really know his way around the hospital. He doesn't even know where your room is.
So he went into a room thinking you were in it, only there was someone in it. Someone who was going to give birth. I don't think you'll be seeing Naruto in the future anytime soon, considering he helped give birth yesterday, only to faint shortly when he saw all the blood. You should have seen his face!"

While the man laughingly recounts the events and how Naruto threw up several times and then was chased by everyone, only to throw up again on the head doctor of the hospital Doctor Yakushi.

As he recounted this, Pītā slowly began to giggle until he could no longer contain himself and laughed out loud.

When Inoichi saw this, he smiled with joy. 'Finally we are making some progress, the boy from just a year ago was always so cheerful and happy. Hopefully that boy from back then is not dead yet'.

Half out of breath from laughing so hard, Pītā gasped, "Typical Naruto, something like this can really only happen to him...okay with my luck something like this could happen to me too."

The last part was a barely audible mumble to the adult in the room, but he had to chuckle when he heard it.

"It's nice to see that you can still laugh Pītā. It doesn't suit you to have a serious face all the time and to look around with such a gloomy look".

When the young hunter heard this, he could be seen blushing under his mask, "I, uh...I mean...I don't know...".

When the blond saw Pītā struggling with the words, an unusual thing in itself considering that this is a boy known for always having a cheeky answer on his tongue, he sighed softly and looked at the boy with kind but serious eyes.

"Pītā, your behavior is more than understandable. What you experienced, what you had to see and do to survive, I know adult shinobi who didn't experience that. But you still have to open up. Be it to me or at least to the Hokage. We want to help you, to bring some kind of normality back into your life.

Your behavior has an effect on your environment. You may not realize it, but the kids in your class, especially Naruto, look up to you, admire you. Whether it's because of your intelligence, your talent, or your kindness in always helping everyone."

Inoichi paused for breath and was about to continue when he saw Pītā open and close his mouth several times. Obviously, not much was missing until the young man at least said something.

Only what will it be? Deception to not have more therapy sessions or the truth to actually get help?

"(Sigh) Naruto is less cheerful, your whole class seems to be missing something. And you know what that something is? It's you. You Pītā. There are people who care about you. Tell me, isn't it only important for you to open up and let others help you?"

When he said this, he saw in Pītā's red eyes how the boy began to struggle. Despite everything, his incredible talent and breathtaking intelligence, he was still a child.
And like all children of that age, all he wants is acceptance and kindness. He wants to be allowed to dream.

"I... want to have a dream."

The boy's slightly roughened voice, no doubt a product of last night, was very quiet as he said what. And although the statement had nothing to do with Inoichi's question, he saw what Pītā really meant by the question: how can I be an admiration to others if I don't even know who I am, what I am and what I want to be?

"A dream, yes, having a dream would be a good thing. Tell me Pītā, when you look 10 years into the future, what do you see? Where are you? Are you married, who is by your side? You and which friend are standing side by side?

What, if you look deep into your heart, is what you wish for? What is deep in your heart, can become your dream. But while dreams are good, goals are far better aren't they?
I want you to think long and hard about what you want. What you want now and what you want in ten years. Think about what your interests are. And then look at people who could support your interests, you're goals. And then look at people who have the same or similar interests as you and see if they could become your inspiration, you're motivation to become better to strive for more."

Inoichi took a deep breath after the speech and looked briefly at the clock and then back at the boy.

"It looks like our time is over for today, you have your appointment with the shinobi who are under your leadership in 2 hours and I still have some clan matters to clear up. Can you please think about what we were talking about today though?"

With a questioning look he looked at the young man in front of him and waited for an answer. after a hesitant nod he sighed with relief and wished Pītā a good day and left the sickroom.

As Pītā lay alone in the room and stared at the door through which his therapist had disappeared, he began to think. Not about what happened to him, but about what just happened. How happy he was for a moment.

He is laying back on his bed and stared at the ceiling. He began to wonder how to proceed now.

But Inoichi was right, in just a few hours he has to talk to the shinobi about his training plans.

As he decided to freshen up and get dressed for the day, he saw his reflection in the mirror.

"(snort) man I look like shit"

His hair, dirty and several white streaks could be seen. His eyes, despite the deep red almost alive color, seemed quite dead. Or rather...hopeless.

And when he took off the mask, he saw how thin his face had become. His skin is so unnaturally pale and his lips are split.

When he took off his clothes to take a shower, his ribs showed, not an ounce of body fat and the skin started peeling in places. The colour started to become an ugly grey.

All in all, he looked like someone who hadn't eaten in weeks, which is almost true. He ate, but then vomited it up again. He was in a miserable state.

"Why am I only seeing this now?"

The future shinobi's raspy voice rings out in shock in the empty bathroom as he touches the mirror with one hand to ensure the absence of a genjutsu.

"Why din't I see what I had become before? Why do I let others down so bad?"

His voice cracking, and tears started to go down his hollow cheeks.

(Line Break)

After the slightly longer than usual shower and changing into his typical clothes and putting on a fresh mask, Pītā walked out of his hospital room to get to the training area.

However, as soon as he sets foot outside the infirmary, an Anbu appears next to him. A woman slightly taller than him, with purple hair and a cat-like mask on her face.

'She looks kind of familiar...also her chakra is like I've seen it before...'
Pītā's eyes widened for a brief moment until he gave the woman a mischievous eye smile and addressed her.

"Good afternoon, Neko-chan. Babysitting duty again today?"

Neko just looked at him, annoyed. In Pītā's early days in Konoha, it was Yugao's duty to watch him for the first few months. And while you might think it would be easy to watch a 6 year old child, the fact is that Pītā was already an experienced hunter at that point and had some shinobi training, coupled with his kekkei kenkai...

He was an absolute menace, who nearly made Yugao, a strong and prideful kunoichi nearly fall down into madness because of his antics which only became worse after he met Naruto Uzumaki.

"I'm supposed to take care that neither you nor anyone else kills you by mistake. Admittedly, in my eyes, that wouldn't be much of a loss, Menace."

With a slight resentment in her voice, the woman finally answered him. The young Pāka just had to chuckle mischievously.

As the two continued to walk, they received a series of strange looks, some of fear and some of resentment.
The latter, however, were exclusively focused on the young man.

Even after all the years the boy lived in the hidden village, he was still detested because he came from Kiri, which was never a secret. His unshakeable relationship with Naruto has reinforced this.

While Pītā simply brushed off the stares as usual because in the end they were nowhere near as bad for him as the treatment in Kiri which he would probably never forget. Well he had also the one or other scar from that time.

In Yugao, however, everything began to boil with silent and deadly rage when she saw that. While their relationship with the small looked more hostile from the outside, they were quite close to each other, by the reason that she knew the boy as hardly any other woman could get to know him.

She protected him and had to worry about him. So she had developed sister-like feelings for the boy and had made it her task in recent years without his knowledge to take care of the little one. From time to time she looked after him and saw if everything was still right.

And therefore she could not understand the looks of disgust of the civilians and shinobi around him that hit him and that only because he was a child of Kiri. 'If they dare to touch him even once...'

The Anbu Neko was more than willing to stain her sword with blood to protect the boy to her left. Not only because the Hokage told her to, but also because he was important to her.

After walking for a while, the two arrived at training ground 3 and Neko disappeared again to watch and protect from the shadows.

Sighing, Pītā sits down at one of the wooden posts and pulls out some files from his backpack to keep track of his plans for today's first training session.

As soon as some time passed, two chunin arrived, Anko Mitarashi and Kurenai Yuhi, two extremely talented kunoichi.

When Pītā saw them approaching, he narrowed his eyes a bit and analyzed their gait and body language. The closer they came, the more he could smell them, hear their hearts and feel their chakras.

Yuhi-san's chakra flow feels controlled, though her reserves are not very large. They feel smaller than mine.

Mitarashi-san...her chakra screams chaos, some kind of chakra imprint is on her similar to the shinobi of Root...is she maybe one of them? No, her chakra is too chaotic for that and she seems to be too wild in charcter according to the file to be one of Danzo-asshole's people'.

"Heya Gaki, stop ignoring us and say hello!"

The young Pāka was startled out of his inner monologue when the purple haired kunoichi suddenly stood in front of him. He looked in amazement into her brown pupil-less eyes and widened his eyes for a moment before squinting them.

The woman came annoyingly close to him. Not much was missing and her nose would touch his. Luckily he wears a mask or you would see that he blushed briefly.

"Get out of my face woman! And good day to you both too" Hissing the first part, Pītā said the last shortly in a polite tone after he pushed Anko away from him and stood up.

Anko just laughed at his comment, "Hey brat, don't you think you should show some respect to a lady?"

Pītā looked at her for a brief moment before giving her an innocent eye smile and answered her in a tone one could use to calm a rabid bear, "If I see a lady I'll show her."

After the commentary, all you could hear was the wind rustling the leaves. The two Kunoichi looked at the boy with wide eyes, unable to believe how the boy insulted the two and looked like an innocent angel.

"You little bastard-"

"Am I late?" just before Anko could have a violent outburst of anger, she was interrupted by a deep baritone voice. Asuma stood there with a cigarette between his lips and his hands in his pocket.

All three looked at him and accordingly had different reactions to him.
Anko was a bit angry because she wanted to teach the brat a lesson, but now with a jonin present, especially the Hokage's son, she can't do that without fear of disciplinary consequences.

Kurenai blushed slightly when she saw Asuma and greeted him immediately, "Hello Asuma-san. No, you're not too late, Anko and I just got here too. We have about 10 minutes before the meeting actually starts."

Asuma also blushed slightly under his when the black haired beauty spoke to him, and let out a short laugh, "That means we'll have to wait another three hours for Kakashi to get here."

While the jonin and the Tokubetsu jōnin talked and flirted, Anko and Pītā just watched them in silence before the last shukeikō took out his notebook and wrote a few things in it.

"Can I expect them to disappear into their own universe every time they look into each other's eyes?" Pītā asked dryly.

Anko gave him a blank look, sighed and answered him with a dull "yes"

Pītā then sighed and wrote more things in his notebook. As soon as he was finished and closed it, he felt the floor vibrate slightly. 'What is that? It feels like hundreds of feet are moving towards us. No, not hundreds four. Two people moving at breakneck speed. Unbelievable how they must have trained to get this speed

Didn't even think through and two figures appeared in front of him, a cloud of dust behind them. One in a normal jonin outfit, the other in a hideous looking green spandex outfit.

"YOSH! ANOTHER VICTORY FOR THE GREEN BEAST OF KONOHA! HOW DO YOU LOVE THIS MY ETERNAL RIVAL!?" the one dressed in green, with a pot hairstyle and teeth gleaming whiter than Pītā has ever seen on a person, cried out in a voice that made his amplified sense of hearing ring briefly.

The silver haired masked man next to him had an Icha Icha Paradise book in his hand and looked at his colleague with a bored look and just said "Did you say something Gai?"

Kurenai and Asuma also woke up from their dimension and you could almost hear on the entire training ground how something in Gai broke.

"OHH KAKASHI! HOW YOU ANNOY ME WITH YOUR COOL AND HIP ATTITUDE! I WILL NOW DO 1000 PUSH-UPS AND IF I CAN'T DO THIS I WILL WALK 1000 LAPS AROUND KONOHA ON MY HANDS!"

Before Gai could continue his tirade, Pītā cleared his throat and said, "Gai-san, you just didn't win the race. Hatake-san was here a step ahead of you."

Everyone looked at the innocent smiling boy in shock. Not only did he just say that Gai lost, which usually opens a whole other can of problems, no he saw two of the fastest if not THE fastest Jonin in the village move and could see their movements.

As Pītā was about to continue speaking, after all everyone was now present, he was interrupted by Gai who once again spoke at a volume comparable to standing next to an explosion.

When Kakashi saw how the volume was affecting the young man, he was about to stop Gai and tell him to turn down the volume when suddenly Gai's mouth was covered with a white substance.

Everyone looked confused at Pītā who was standing there with a slightly shaking arm outstretched and his hand making a strange hand sign, all fingers were outstretched, only his ring and middle finger were placed on his palm.

"I'm only going to say this once Might Guy, if you ever scream like that again while standing next to me...make your life a single quall"

With a manic look in his eyes, the budding shinobi looked at the Jonin. 'In a fair one on one fight I wouldn't win against you...but I don't fight fair and I only need one punch'

"Ma, ma take it easy. Pītā-kun it's not nice to threaten a Jonin who is practically your superior", with a calm voice,m yet with a tense body Kakashi stepped between the two. "And Gai, he's right, please lower your volume a bit".

Gai answered with muffled sounds, after all his mouth was webbed.

The others just watched with a tense attitude. It's no wonder, after all, the Hokage told them that this is the boy who managed to seriously injure Itachi Uchiha.

The guy standing in the center just sighed once, and then apologized, "I'm sorry for my outburst. I have heightened senses and hearing a voice with the strength of an explosion not 3 meters from me..."

Kakashi just looked at the boy with a sympathetic look, he too had heightened senses thanks to his genetics. But he didn't have them as heightened as the young spider before him.

He made a note to teach the young man a technique for protecting his senses with chakra later.

Just as the senior on the field was about to answer the young man, he continued, "So, Gai-san, the web should dissolve in 2 hours. I would rather advise not to tear it off, as it could be very painful."

After saying this, he took a few steps to the side so he could look at everyone.

"Moreover, Hatake-san, you are wrong. Neither he, nor you are my superiors for this year except in an emergency in the village. The Hokage has appointed me as your trainer, and I hope for good cooperation with you. Therefore, I also hope that you have made the lists I asked of you yesterday."

After this sentence, everyone was really dumbstruck, a boy not even ten years old had just told them he was their boss.

Asuma just chuckled and spoke with an edge in his tone, "Kid, you do realize that we are adult shinobi? Just because the Hokage said you are our trainer doesn't mean we have to respect you".

The red-eyed Tokubetsu jōnin looked at him just a little tense as she didn't like her Chrush's tone "Asuma, he's just a chi-"

"Shut up Nai-chan. Asuma is right why should we show respect to the brat considering how he treated us so far" Anko interrupted her friend, knowing what Asuma was trying to do, Kakashi also caught on by now which is why he stayed quiet.

The young Pāka only narrowed his eyes a bit, he recognized the provocation only he couldn't see what kind of goal the shinobi had. But don't let it be said that in a verbal match Pītā would let himself be beaten just like that.
'If you want to play like that...'

"Well I didn't really expect respect from the ex student of a traitor and the bitching son of the third Hokage who left the village in a childish fit either."

The cigarette Asuma just put between his lips fell on the floor as he stared at the boy with widened eyes and opened mouth, he didn't expect a child to react like this to his provocation.

Anko, on the other hand, did not have such a calm reaction, everything that had to do with her old sensei made her furious. She jumped at the boy with the plan to teach him a lesson.
"You damn brat, I'm going to put you in..."

Before Kakashi, Gai or Kurenai could intervene, Pītā had already disappeared from the spot where he had just been standing and Anko was now standing with a wild expression.

"Come out, come out wherever you are" in a horror singsong voice Anko tries to lure the boy out.

Before someone suddenly whispered in her ear, "I'm never gone".

Anko froze in her position as she looked at the boy clinging to her back. What completely threw her off was the fact that he was holding a kunai to her neck.

Pītā just looked at her with his cold red eyes and said, "If the snake won't show respect, the spider will show it why it is considered a dangerous monster."

After these words he jumped off her back and turned to the shinobi and said "Now please hand me those list I asked for".

As he said this he held up a list. Anko's list, which she had carried with her. Said kunoichi looked at him with widened eyes, 'how did he take it from me?'

"So could you please give them to me?"
