Arizona waited for Amelia to lead the way for what they would do. Sit and wait for the kids to go to sleep? Talk right now? Kiss again? It was a little past 7 pm and if she knew those kids enough, it wouldn't be bedtime before 10. However, Amelia didn't look so worried about it. She grabbed Arizona's hand, leading the way towards the couch, while the kids were playing in the backyard. Amelia knew she needed to get them inside soon, since the cold was a little bit too much that night, but she was going to take the little time left before this to understand what was happening between the two of them. Before she could even begin to say anything, Scout interrupted them, waking up and crying. Amelia excused herself, headed upstairs to his bedroom, and took him downstairs, since the boy was more agitated than usual.
"Arizona, this is little Scout" – Amelia introduced her son to Arizona, who hadn't met him yet.
"Oh my goodness, he is the cutest little nugget" – Arizona exclaimed, taking him into her arms.
"He is, but also he should be sleeping right now, shouldn't you, Scout?" – Amelia make a little cute baby voice talking to him.
"He will fall asleep soon enough, he just missed his mama, right sweetie?" – Arizona played with him.
Suddenly, it hit Amelia right on: Arizona was delightfully gorgeous, but also so kind. She interacted with Scout for the first time and already was so much more intimate than Kai, whom she dated for months. Arizona would easily fit in a relationship that has kids involved, unlike Kai. Arizona was different in so many ways.
"Do you need to give him back to me?" – Amelia asked, knowing Scout was a handful sometimes.
"Oh, no, please. It's been ages since I have a baby this size to hold" – Arizona couldn't stop smiling and the boy seemed to be enjoying the tenderness.
"Can we talk, Arizona? I think we need to" – Amelia said, caressing Arizona's arm.
"I agree. But do you prefer to wait until the kids' bedtime?" – Arizona asked.
"They will take some time. I thought you had your mind set when we talked last night" – Amelia started.
"Well, I had. I mean, until then I was just fighting all of those feelings because they just couldn't exist. I just don't think I can push them aside" – Arizona vented.
"Clearly, me neither. I told you I needed to be alone and every single time I saw you I've regretted my decision" – Amelia confessed.
"Ok. What do we do with that, then? We both know it's complicated" – Arizona affirmed.
"I don't know. But I wish we could figure it out together" – Amelia said, looking straight into Arizona's eyes.
"Do you want to try? To see where it goes?" – Arizona asked, slightly afraid of what Amelia would answer.
"I really do" – Amelia leaned on to kiss Arizona, while Scout was already sleeping on the blonde's arms.
Amelia knew better not to start anything more heated while the kids were still awake. She fought not to deepen the kiss, afraid she wouldn't be able to control herself. Arizona really did something with her that she couldn't explain. The arouse she felt whenever Arizona was around was something different from everything she ever felt regarding relationships.
The kids' bedtime arrived and Amelia couldn't be happier to have some time alone with Arizona. After much effort to having Bailey convinced – the hardest one – that he needed to sleep, both women went to Amelia's room to continue the talk.
"How do we do this?" – Amelia asked and honestly, she was less worried about the talk and more concerned in how not to take off all of Arizona's clothes.
"I know that I brought you a huge problem by telling you how I feel, but I really don't know what to do, and how to do it. There isn't an easy solution for us, I guess" – Arizona blurted.
"It isn't, indeed. But I feel the same for you. That's why I couldn't follow my own request of being alone for a while. Are you willing to do the long-distance kind of relationship?" – Amelia asked, unsure if she wanted this kind of relationship again, but right now it was the only thing that seemed possible.
"Usually it would be a hard no for me. But with you… Nothing seems to follow the rules when it comes to you" – Arizona smiled, taking Amelia's hand in hers.
"What the hell did you do to me?" – Amelia asked, smiling.
"I can ask you the same" – Arizona said – "That was a hell of a spell on me"
"Let's say we agree on the long-distance thing. Would you be willing to fly here more often? Will it be ok for me to go to NY with Scout? I need to understand the logistics" – Amelia asked and Arizona was quite confused.
"What do you mean? Of course it will be ok for you to go with Scout. Did you think there was a possibility for me to deny that? He is your son. There's nothing more important for me than see you comfortable with your son around me" – Arizona was sweet.
