Summary of the chapter: The meeting goes on and then…

Chapter VB: There's never been so much at stake

"However, let me warn you it's dangerous for you to stay here," Brian informed him.

"Why? Stefan invited us in. We're not breaking in!" Matthew barely protested.

"I mean, it's dangerous to stay close to me. Do you want to know why I have had to temporarily retire from showbiz?" the older guy asked as the younger one nodded, eager to know, but scared too nonetheless.

What is he about to say? he wondered, nervous.

"It's because of stress. I was too stressed. Actually I still am, and often this thing flows into hysterics... so whoever is unlucky to be close to me in those moments deals with my fury!" Brian confessed, but Matthew didn't react as he supposed he would have reacted.

Matthew was staring at him in awe.

"Hysteria is such a fascinating, multi-faceted feeling and it should never ever be repressed. Someone should write a song about it one day," Matt stated. "Besides, if you're dangerous you're even more irresistible. You become a taboo and I'm dragged to taboos like a magnet!" he added with half smile, caressing Brian's face with the back of his hand.

Also 'Fury' and mostly 'Showbiz' are such interesting and inspiring words... perfect for song titles… the wannabe rock star pondered.

Brian allowed him to do so, a little stunned by that gesture, but Stef and Dom were too busy chatting to notice that.

"Anyway, thank you!" Matt added immediately after.

Brian frowned.

"For what?"

"Because you're dedicating a part of your oh so precious time to me. You could have ignored me and come back home, but you haven't. And now, you, Brian Molko, always surrounded by beautiful girls and guys, are talking with me and I'm not beautiful at all, I look like a rodent and..." Matt starts to waffle.

"Nope, not a rodent." Brian interrupted him. "A fawn." he added.

"Uh?" Matt stared at him in confusion.

"You remind me more of a fawn." Brian explained.

"Really?" Matt smiled.

"Yep, but you know what? I hate fawns. When I saw 'Bambi' I rooted for the hunter!" Brian snapped rudely.

"Oh, my God! You're heartless, you're such a despicable person Dom exclaimed, almost crying, shocked by that revelation.

He was very touchy when cartoons were involved.

"Mind your bloody business! Weren't you busy making moony eyes to my boyfriend?" Brian made him notice. "Wait a minute. Quit making moony eyes to my boyfriend!" he added, bothered. "And you didn't even tell him anything!" he turns to Stefan, even more bothered.

"Well, he's doing nothing bad. Besides, he's so cute when he makes moony eyes!" Stefan justified, softened.

In the meantime, the only neuron left to Matthew came up again, making him formulate one thought only that had become his reason d'être.

"I'm a fawn!" he repeated, with an idiotic smile.

"Ok, Matthew, I guess we annoyed them enough. What do you say, can we go now?" Dominic suggested, approaching Matthew.

"Dom, I'm a fawn!" Matthew replied, with the same idiotic smile.

"Okay, I've lost him!" Dom rolled his eyes, muttering to himself.

Brian and Stefan observed the scene amused.

"Well, I'll decide for us both. We're leaving now. Brian, Stef, it was such a pleasure to meet you, especially you, Stef!" Dom lingered on the last word, showing Stef a languid smile.

"You can come back to see us whenever you want!" Stefan informed him.

Brian stared at him astonished, as the other two smiled.

"We will!" Dom assured.

Brian got closer to Matt, caressing his face in the same way the younger guy had done with him.

"So see ya, Baby Blue," he greeted him.

Matt goggled his wonderful blue eyes, and that told Brian more than a thousand words.

The two Englishmen left, leaving Brian and Stefan alone.

"Why did you invite them to come back?" Brian wondered.

"Why not? After all, they're so pleasant!" Stefan shrugged.

"Oh yeah, sure, it's Dom's *pleasantness * that impressed you so much. I saw the way you looked at him!" the singer snapped.

"Well, why don't we talk about the way you looked at Matt?" the bassist made him notice, pissed off, but he burst out laughing a few minutes after.

"What's up?" the other narrowed his eyes at him.

"C'mon, do you hear ourselves? Do we really want to fight over two kids?" he chuckled, caressing his boyfriend's hair.

"You're right, it's so stupid," the frontman smiled, holding his hand.

It took just a look to kiss each other passionately.

"Good. Can we go to the beach, now?" Stefan suggested to him.

"Uh?" Brian frowned.

"What? Oh, c'mon, you made me bloody sick before with the beach thing! You wanted to go there, didn't you?"

"Nope, no beach anymore, I changed my mind," Brian declared, as the most spoiled of the kids. "I'd like to come back home and continue with something we have started before…" he winked at Stefan, allusively, stealing a quick kiss from him.

"I surely can't say 'no' to that!" Stefan sneered, rushing home with his lover.

Outside, from afar, Matt and Dom were observing the Placebo couple.

As soon as Matt had departed from Brian, he had returned himself.

"Have you seen how they're stuck to each other? They never tear apart, not even for a minute!" Dominic commented.

"They remind me of someone else: you and me!" Matthew chuckled.

Dominic showed him a bright smile, before punching his shoulder, playfully

"C'mon, Bells, I'm serious, we have no chance in getting their attention!" Dom stated.

"Are you sure? I don't think so. Quite the contrary, I guess we have much more than one chance, after what I have seen today," Matt encouraged him.

"Anyway, Matt… I don't know … do we really want to bring things to such a point? I mean, we already go out with tons of girls and we have fun with them, just because they're girls, a diversion, they don't mean anything. About guys, yeah, it's fun to flirt with them, even kissing them once in a while is not so bad, but… to go all the way! We've never done that." Dom reflected.

Matt hugged him from behind, resting his chin on his boyfriend's shoulder and swinging with him.

"Listen, Dommie, do you know what the most beautiful thing in our relationship is? The freedom that we allow to each other. And do you know what the most beautiful thing ever when we part from each other is? Our mutual meet up again. It's almost as if we were bound together by an invisible, unbreakable elastic band. No matter how much we pull towards different directions, in the end we end up closer to each other than ever before," the blue-haired guy softly explained.

"You're right. That's the secret of our perfect harmony. A girl couldn't never understand that, but with you it's different. You perfectly understand me as I perfectly understand you and this our not-suffocating-each-other is just perfect… wait, did I say 'perfect' way too much?" Dom giggled. "And no matter with whom we decide to put our relationship to a test, our elastic band will never break!" the orange-haired guy smiled, turning to give Matt a very sweet kiss.

"Okay, we decided, we're going to do that. Unless you don't feel self-confident enough for it, maybe you don't have more than one string to your bow…" Matt teased him.

"Hey! I have a lot of strings to my bow, but I'm not so sure about you! You act like the last of the idiots whenever you're around Brian!" Dom made fun of him.

"It was just the emotion of the first meeting; from now on I'll be more lucid!" Matthew assured.

"Bells, do you want to make things more interesting?" Dominic suggested.

"How?" the other raised his eyebrow, intrigued.

"Let' s make a bet: I bet I'll conquer Stef before you conquer Brian!" Dom suggested.

"And I bet the contrary. What's the stake?" the younger guy wondered.

"If you win, I promise that I'll leave you alone for more than three months, without involving you anymore in my sport activities," the older guy assured. "But if I win, you'll be my sex-slave, you'll do whatever I ask, even the things you never want to do!" he added.

"It's a deal!" Matt approved, shaking his hand.

"Great! Trust me, you would win in both of the cases!" the former blond winked at him.

"Can you believe it? He called me 'Baby-Blue!" Matt recalled.

"Yeah, I noticed that, it's such a horrible nickname!" Dom replied.

"I like it!" Matt informed him.

"However, he called you 'little thing' most of the time!" Dom made him notice.

"I even like 'little thing', after all they're nicknames that Brian gave me, he could have even called me 'asshole ' and I would have liked that as well!" the other confessed.

"Okay, now let's go home, asshole!"

"I said that Brian could have called me that, not you!" Matt protested.

"I call you how bloody I please, besides… you deserve it!" Dom stuck back.

"Why? What did I do?" the former brunet frowned.

"Don't think that I forgot how you tried to break free from my embrace before, you, infamous asshole!" Dom repeated, pissed off, before running away from him

Matthew chased him, with only one goal in mind: to make things up.
