Run.
Run or Die.
That was the choice Jaden faced.
As he ran through the streets that once brimmed with life, but were now dead.
He turned his head slightly. Just enough to see at least 30 people chasing him. But these weren't people. They were people once. But not now. Jaden didn't know what they were. They looked human but they acted like animals. Blood dripped from all over. Some were missing arms or fingers. Jaden didn't know what they were. And he sure as hell wasn't gonna stick around to find out.
So he continued to run. He was tiring but he wasn't going to stop.
He turned a corner.
Death was in the air.
The city was a scene of disaster. Buildings were on fire. People were being killed and eaten...
Eaten?
Jaden looked again.
Eaten!
"That woman's.." he looked away. He couldn't bring himself to look upon the boy lying still on the ground while this woman sank her teeth into his flesh.
"What's happe..."
His mind never finished that word. The only word that ran through his head at that particular moment was "Fuck"
He looked down at the young girl with her teeth digging into the palm of his hand.
"What the hell. Get off me!"
He grabbed her hair and yanked her off his hand and threw her to the pavement. But children are persistent.
She slowly stood back up while growling like a cat who feels threatened.
He looked at her with her ripped school uniform smeared in blood. He didn't know quite what to make of it. It was all too much. He began to grow dizzy.
What is man's first reaction in a situation like this.
Run.
Jaden was no different from any other man.
He ran.
There were people everywhere. No. Things everywhere.
Where was he running. He didn't know. But what he did know was that he had to run.
His hand was stinging. He could still feel the childs fangs in his soaking red hands.
He turned a corner into an alleyway.
There was definitly no one here. He sat down behind a bin.
The whole place was spinning.
He didn't understand what was going on.
No one did.
He stared at the wall in front of him. It wasn't there.
What was there was white light. What was everywhere was white light.
He couldn't think about anything. He couldn't remember anything. His mind went blank.
He was gone.
They had all gone.
It was over.
