There were many things in the past few years that made Toshinori worried about the future.
His family.
Society itself seemingly leaned on him to be the 'Pillar of Peace'.
Mostly his health these days.
He leaped through the air as he made his way to a secluded spot in Musutafu where he could 'deflate' and go home. He still had plenty in the tank even after three plus years from the fight with All for One, but that clock was ever so slowly winding down.
He was now down to seven hours of consecutive hero work, well, closer to eight hours, but that was only due to him taking the time to be depowered for most of the day.
The only reason he even knew that was due to a crisis that hit Japan later on in the year after his fight, an underwater earthquake hit off the coast, thus forcing all the seaside cities to prepare for the worst. The first hour was the easiest, all he had to do was unleash several 'Smashes' to break apart the wave and allow the other heroes to perform their duties to defend Tokyo from the natural disaster.
It was only when he was traveling up and down the coast to help the other cities that the limitation was finally felt, and thankfully he was alone and near the main highway back to Tokyo when the stress became too much for him.
Almost a full ten hours of working as a hero straight, and he coughed up an unhealthy amount of blood in the process.
Once Naomasa got to his location and took him directly to Recovery Girl, he learned the truth.
His body could no longer hold the strain that 'One for All' put his body under. Thankfully it was more along the lines of the body saying 'Hey, I'm tired, enough is enough.' rather than saying he was closer to dying. The simple fact was, he was working with one functioning right lung and with his left barely contributing to his body's needs, his body wasn't getting the ample oxygen he needed to work for long periods of time. Recovery Girl had told him it would have been worse off if he was missing part of his stomach and intestines as that would have limited the amount of nutrition the body needed to function as well. He might have turned into a walking skeleton after a certain amount of time, as of now he only lost a good bit of his muscle mass in his depowered state, but otherwise nothing more.
It didn't help that Inko was there with them and began to weep for him, causing him to try and placate a worried wife on top of the whole issue.
As he walked towards his home, he couldn't help but give a tired grin at the thoughts of his son, Izuku.
The boy was shaping up to be a perfect heir for his quirk, and he needed to be sure the boy was ready to receive it. Not right now, but possibly soon as he turned fourteen or so, giving him time to work out all the kinks of the quirk.
Both Mina and Izuku were working hard, both of them learning a new style of martial arts on the recommendations of their master, Valentino Grande. Though both of them were learning completely different styles from each other, through the contacts of Valentino who requested the teens to be taught those specific styles.
Though, if Toshinori was honest, he prayed to whoever was on the receiving end of his kids' attacks and hoped they walked away with broken egos and not broken bones.
Silat and Krav Maga.
Both styles were vicious, but fairly different from one another. One was more offensive with punches and kicks while the other was more of a counter-style of fighting opponents. Both styles were intensive and needed great care only to be used fully if one's life was in danger.
Both the Yagis and the Ashidos were worried about Valentino's choice of martial arts the children were to learn, but when asked, he simply said a name.
"Disco."
That was the end of the discussion. Nothing more to be said and all four parents understood why. He was giving the children everything under the sun to grow and be better prepared for a hero lifestyle. He didn't want to see another student fall, and was doing everything in his power to make sure that didn't happen.
Of course, there was a reason why he asked for teachers to be sent, as he himself was leaving. He taught them more advanced forms until they were twelve, but stated that for the rest of the time they needed to branch out more and to have a much more diverse set of styles under their belt.
In truth, though in talking to the parents, they were nearing the end of what he could teach them, which astounded Toshinori. He explained that they were closer to the level Makoda was at when she was just about to finish her course in hero school. They were like sponges when it came to learning, both children had a drive that put any other student aside from Disco herself to shame. By the end of the explanation, Valentino looked close to tears from how happy he was able to teach the finest students he had ever received. By a certain point, it would be up to them to learn and grow on their own, experiment with what they can do while learning a whole new style that they could incorporate into their own.
There was a party the day before he left and both kids were sad to see him go, but promised they would take to their new teachers with the same drive they had with him, which he didn't doubt for a moment. They both had him promise to watch the UA Sports festival so they can show him what they can really do.
Toshinori gave a small smile remembering the kids hugging their master when he got on the flight, quietly opening the door to his home as he walked through the front door and took off his shoes. He walked towards the living room and opened his mouth to greet the kids when he froze on the spot.
Izuku and Mina were sitting on the couch, the tv on with the Heroes' Report blaring on, a scene with some up and coming hero named Hawks making a splash, but that wasn't what got his attention.
No, it was the fact that Izuku and Mina were kissing one another.
It wasn't a full blown make out session, but it was an awfully close thing if he was being honest.
He blinked, wondering what he was supposed to do in this situation. Tell them to stop? Scare them? Give Izuku a round of applause?
He was so lost so he did the only thing he could think of.
Backtrack and don't say a word! Be quiet as a mouse so they won't know he was there.
Unfortunately his phone decided to out him in the form of a message from Gran Torino.
"I AM HERE AS A MESSAGE!"
He fumbled for his phone before looking up to see both teens looking to him with a look of concern but didn't look all that surprised.
"Dad?" Izuku asked as he tilted his head. "When did you get home?"
"O-oh just n-now, now." Toshinori fumbled his words as he tried to take a relaxed position at the entrance of the living room. Place a hand on his hip and another on the door and try to look natural as he leaned against it, like he hadn't caught his kids in a make-out session. "How-How are you doing, Sport?"
Mina tilted her head, mouthing the word 'sport' to herself in confusion. Izuku blinked and slowly raised an eyebrow at this. "I'm… fine. Are you okay?"
"Never better, better." Toshinori spluttered, unsure how this sequence of events was happening. Shouldn't Izuku and Mina be scrambling away from one another? Saying they were doing nothing wrong and trying to deny being caught. If anything, Toshinori was acting like he did something bad instead. "So, so… uh… When did this…uh?"
He waved an arm at the two of them, nodding a bit and trying to take the role of father catching two thirteen year olds in an awkward moment. Both of them blinked at him before looking at one another before looking back at him.
"I'm pretty sure I said we were getting married since I was eight." Mina commented idly, giving Toshinori a look that said he should know this already.
"Okay. That's fair." Toshinori waved his hand, "Just… None of us really saw you two acting… well, different from any other day."
"Oh… Well… um." Mina scratched her cheek a bit before giving him a big smile. "We started dating each other a couple of months ago! A lot of people thought we were dating already so we figured why not. Not really all that different than we normally do… except the kissing, that's a nice addition."
"Ah, I see." Toshinori crossed his arms, nodding to himself before frowning. "Wait, no I don't. Your mothers would be over the moon and I know for sure Inko would have told me right away."
"Oh that." Izuku grimaced slightly before rubbing his head. "We didn't tell them just yet."
"Why not?"
"Because of that reason you just stated." Mina answered with a sigh, slumping in her seat. "They would have been all over us, bringing up old history and both of them would be looking through the internet for wedding dresses and other stuff. Not quite ready for that."
"But you are ready for make-out sessions?"
"It's not like I am sitting on Izuku and giving him tongue to throat resuscitation." Mina pouted, causing Toshinori to splutter at her words. "Besides, we are taking it slow, not like we haven't seen each other naked before, we are beyond the whole curious phase of our relationship. We shared baths plenty of times beforehand."
"What?! I'm more than certain something you did as kids doesn't equal what you are going through as teens!" Toshinori blinked as both teens were looking at him funny. "What?"
"As kids?" Izuku asked in confusion.
"Ah, sharing a bath." Toshinori sighed as he facepalmed, only to hear a snort coming from Mina. "What?"
"We shared a bath last week. Izuku is great at shampooing my hair. He knows all the right spots to rub!" Mina smiled and leaned against Izuku. Toshinori simply stares at the two, waiting for the other part of the joke to drop, but neither teen seems all that embarrassed for trying said joke. If anything they were waiting on him to continue on.
"Yeah, when we are done with training we just go into the shower and wash up, saves time to do other stuff rather than just wait around, plus it's easy to get to the hard to reach areas like the back." Izuku stated, still looking at him with some concern. "You okay, dad?"
'Oh my god, they are not joking. Have they seriously been bathing together for years and no one had caught on? Did we trust them that much not to do anything perverted when alone, and these two are so pure that the thought to experiment never crossed their minds?' Toshinori opened his mouth, then closed it. He then turned around to leave, pausing for a moment and turning to speak again, mouth shut with a click before hanging his head and walking up the stairs in silence, much to the confused teens sitting in the living room.
For a moment, both teens stared at the stairs before looking at one another, shrugged and turned back to watch the show. Mina cuddled up next to him and sighed as she got comfortable, leaning up and kissing his cheek before settling again. "You think Papa Toshi will be alright? He looked a little out of it."
"I have no idea." Izuku answered as he changed the channel to a movie, leaning back and relaxing with his girlfriend.
-Later on that night-
Toshinori blankly looked at his book, hearing his wife as she puttered around their bedroom and getting the items she needed for the weekend outing she and Toshinori were having.
"Toshi, does this look fine?"
"It looks great, dear."
"Toshi… I am literally wearing lingerie right now." Toshinori blinked as he came back to reality, looking up to see his wife wearing probably the most racy lingerie he had ever seen. It left nothing to the imagination and yet still hid all the important bits, with her hair down and in messy waves, she looked more like a forest dryad than a normal human woman.
So… many ribbons…
"I've been trying to get your attention for the past ten minutes." She pouted at him, causing all sorts of reactions to happen physically, but mentally he was still a mess so he said the first thing that popped into his head.
"Did you know Izuku and Mina are dating?"
Of all the things she was expecting, that wasn't it. She was looking at a full-length mirror when he said those words, her head snapped so fast to him that he winced and began to sink into his bed in fear.
"What?!"
"I uh… came home and walked on the two kissing one another… that led to… questions and a lot of confusion." Toshinori started, only to see Inko smiling so widely he sunk further into his blanket. Perhaps speaking the first thing on his mind was a mistake.
"My… My baby is finally growing into a man…" Inko began to whimper, her tears were now streaming. "Oh Izuku! I need to ask him all the details. When! How did they start!?"
Toshinori watched as she skipped out of their bedroom, flabbergasted at the response she gave before he paused when he realized what she did. He opened his mouth to call back out to her, but decided better of it.
A little revenge on the boy for making his mind a mess.
"IZUKU! WHEN DID YOU AND MINA GET TOGETHER?!"
"Mom it's late- OH MY GOD!? MY EYES! WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?! OUT! OUT NOW! GO PUT ON SOMETHING MORE THAN RIBBONS BEFORE YOU SCAR ME FOR LIFE!?"
-Months later, Takoba Municipal Beach Park-
Toshinori sighed as he overlooked the dump that used to be a beach. He wondered why it was left as it was, then realized he wasn't that much better since he too also left it alone for several years himself.
Well, it was time to get back into the classics of being a hero anyways. He turned to see the now fourteen year olds standing behind him, giving a small yawn but ready for the day ahead. In his personal truck that he had imported from America, the large heavy duty truck sat ready and waiting, his wife sleeping soundly in the seat as she didn't want to leave the three unattended, especially for something like this.
"Good morning children!" he called out, both of them only giving yawns but Mina at least gave a half-hearted wave. "Ha! Well then. It's time, Izuku."
The boy stiffen up at his words, looking up at his father as he stared back down at him with a grin. "R-really? I'm starting the training now for…"
"Yes." Toshinori nodded his head, looking back at the beach. "You are quite fit now, and in fact, I could give it to you now and we can work on it from there. But I feel much better if I have you do this, at least work out muscles in ways you normally don't use them."
He pulled out his phone and pulled out a calendar to show them, showing the date for UA exams. "Today is August the first, and you are now both fourteen years old. You have over a year to prepare for the exam to enter UA. In that time, I want you both to excel in every aspect that UA requires, both mentally and physically. By September of next year, I want this beach to be fully clean and ready for us to use to celebrate gaining your quirk. This will give you six months to work with learning control and mastery of One for All."
Sitting down with the entire family and explaining One for All was… easy and yet at the same time hard.
In the eyes of Izuku and Mina, All Might was an everlasting symbol of peace, a pillar of stability for Japan. Yet when he explained to them the purpose of One for All and the recent dealings that was happening to him made it all apparent in their eyes.
Toshinori Yagi, All Might, was retiring soon.
Considering he was in his mid-40s now, both him and Endeavour were among the oldest active combat heroes on the market, not including Yoroi Musha who was far older than the both of them. It actually caused both kids to tear up at this news, startling Toshinori when they hugged him and said they will do their best to be the next heroes to hold up society in his place.
After that little moment, he explained the quirk he inherited from Nana Shimura, the lineage and the reason for its existence in the first place. They both paled at the explanation of All for One, then in furious anger when they realized he was the reason Disco had died, and finally in relief when they learned that he was finally dead. Izuku had, of course, asked why he was telling them this and Toshinori simply pointed at his chest and told him directly.
"I want you to carry it as the next symbol of peace. To show everyone that you are here and that everything is alright. All for One may be gone, but there are always villains out there taking advantage of the innocent. I feel that the former bearers would be more than happy if the task is still carried on in helping people.
Izuku was worried that he couldn't live up to that expectation, but Toshinori stopped him from going down that trail of thoughts. He was proud of him now, how he stood tall when the world was trying to keep him down because he lacked a quirk, but look at him.
He was the top scorer in the entire school, he was skilled enough that many bullies that attempted to cow him into submission found themselves in the nurse's office with many bruises, he was well-liked by many of the students with a good portion of them cheering him on in his attempts to be a hero.
He then added slyly that he also had the prettiest girl by his side helping, but Izuku simply nodded and agreed. Mina wasn't the prettiest girl, she was the most beautiful in his eyes, which caused the acid user to blush and smack his shoulder at the corny line.
Of course, the mothers ate it all up and squealed at the thought of grandbabies running around soon.
"Now then, to start off with-" Toshinori started to explain what he wanted the kids to do when he heard his truck door swing open wildly and running of feet coming towards them. All three turn to see Inko racing towards the short wall separating the walkway from the trash pile, her hand covering her mouth before she begins to hurl over as soon as she reaches it.
"Mom!" Izuku cried out as he quickly made his way towards his mother, with Mina and Toshinori right behind him. All three helping the woman coax whatever was making her ill, Mina gave a small look of disgust when she looked over the wall and held out her hand and made some powerful acid to destroy the throwup so they wouldn't have to deal with it later during clean up.
"Inko, what's wrong?" Toshinori asked as he held his wife in his arms as he carried her to his truck, the teens right behind them filled with worry as well.
"I… I have no idea. When you woke me up this morning, I felt a little groggy but that was it." Inko rubbed her head while she looked around. "Perhaps it was something I ate on the way home last night. Maybe I need to…"
Inko trailed off as she stared at her son, a frown on her face as she pinched her lip and began to mumble to herself, everyone staring at her while she did so.
"It's so cute when you both do your mumble-storms." Mina giggled while Izuku flushed a bit but gently elbowed her in the rib.
"Toshi, can you take me to UA, I need to talk to Recovery Girl." Inko asked him, to which the man smiled and nodded. All of them piled into the truck and took off, All Might swinging by Gunhead Agency so the teens could get some weight training done now that the original plan was busted by Inko's sickness.
Gunhead was of course, besides himself when he saw how pale Inko was when the truck pulled up and deposited the teens off, but Toshinori waved off his concern that he was taking her to Recovery Girl to help his wife, placating the worry hero and Inko pushing the man to do his job and let her worry about what was happening to her.
Toshinori looked at his wife, seeing the color slowly returning to her face as she recovered from her barfing galore, chuckling as the woman seemed to be thinking about something as she continued to mumble to herself.
-Yagi's household, hours later-
Kokoro chuckled as the teens continued to play on the gamestation, both of them commenting on the style of fighting their characters were using and wondering if they could use such skills in their own styles of fighting.
"So, any word from Inko, Toshi?" Kokoro asked, watching as the man nursed a warm tea as he read a book about teaching for dummies. "What's with the book?"
"Ah. Yeah, well, I figure if my time limit as a hero is coming to an end, I might as well use what I learned over the years and teach others. Izuku and Mina will be my trial run, so to speak." Toshinori hummed while he took out a sticky note and placed it on a page before moving on. "As for Inko, she told me she was fine and that she will be home soon. Tamoyo?"
"Ah, he told me that they are planning to send him to I-Island to help David with some chemical compounds he has been working on and see if he can help stabilize the process. Kind of a last minute thing to drop on him, but he has his go-bag in the car so he is leaving as soon as possible." Kokoro answered as she continued to make dinner for them, Toshinori humming at her words.
"Wonder what David is working on."
"Who knows, maybe it's a new suit or something for you."
This caused Toshinori to snort at that, chuckling when he thought of his friend. He had to calm David down when the man seemed to panic at the thought of Toshinori losing his power when he was told of it, and even was explaining on a project he was working on for Toshinori to use in his fight against All for One prior to his defeat at his hands. Stated that it could help him keep the quirk running but Toshinori had to coax the man to calm down and explain it was alright that maybe it was time to retire anyways.
Then he asked about the project about 'boosting his quirk' and David had turned rather pale at his questioning.
Turns out that the device he was making would boost not just All Might's quirk, but any quirk, and Toshinori did not want to know the horrors that would unleash if it ever went public. Trigger was bad enough, but a device that could enhance a quirk without any sort of backlash, and if it fell into the wrong hands would be beyond catastrophic. Thankfully the project was still in its infant stages and only had some prototypes so far, but Toshinori had all but told David to get rid of it.
All of it.
David, of course, tried to say the device would help him, but Toshinori wouldn't budge on it. The device would be too dangerous to have, and even if Toshinori decided to use it, if someone managed to take the device without him knowing, there would be hell to pay and Toshinori didn't want David or Melissa to get the backlash if it ever went public.
David realized he was losing this battle, but seeing the content look on Toshinori's face and a knowing smile he usually had made him realize that Toshinori had a plan in place and there was no need to risk his career or Melissa's future if things did take a wrong turn if the device was created.
Of course, Samuel Abraham wasn't happy with the decision and even told it to Toshinori's face when he confronted him about it, but there wasn't anything he could do about it.
He was brought out of his memories when he heard the front door open and the sound of his wife calling out. "I'm home."
"Mom!" Izuku immediately dropped the game and raced towards the entrance, grabbing his mother up in a hug which startled her but caused her to giggle as she was lifted off her feet from the hug.
"I'm fine Izuku..." She said with a bright smile, she was soon embraced by Mina before she guided the two teens to the kitchen, where she was greeted by Toshinori and Kokoro. "Hello, sorry everyone. Recovery Girl needed my help with some stocks that were low and needed help calling in them from the various medical departments."
"That's good." Toshinori mumbled as he gave her a kiss and pulled away, only to frown as Inko quickly held his hand.
"There's… something else." Inko said quietly, causing everyone to pause and turn to look at her with some concern. "Toshi… Izuku… Recovery Girl found something when she was doing some tests on me, to see if I was alright. I had an idea and that test was added as well."
"Are you alright Mama Inko?" Mina asked, reaching out for Izuku's hand as the boy remained stiff with worry.
"Oh… Yes dear. I'm…" Inko sniffed as she wiped her eyes, slowly turning to Toshinori and looked into his own confused ones. "I am more than fine."
"Inko?" Kokoro questioned as Inko continued to wipe her eyes as she was struggling to hold back the tears that were being unleashed. "What is it."
"Toshi…" Inko sniffed, giving him a bright smile that would outshine the very sun. "Toshi, you are going to be a papa."
"What…" Toshinori seems to be frozen in place at her words, staring at Inko with utter shock.
"I'm pregnant." She began to kiss him all over his face as the man remained still as a statue, before he startled everyone as he roared out, shifting into his All Might persona and picked Inko up with both hands.
"YOU'RE PREGNANT! WITH MY CHILD!" Toshinori swung Inko around with a loud laugh, Kokoro laughing as she took pictures of the two along with the stun look on Izuku's face.
"I'm… I'm…" Izuku stuttered as Mina gave him a warm hug, staring at his mother with shock, but a big smile on his face. "I'm going to be a big brother."
"Yeah, Izuku, you are."
"I'M GOING TO BE A BIG BROTHER!" Izuku happily shouted as he picked up Mina and swung her around as well.
It wasn't long before more people began to arrive at the house when the news began to spread to all their friends. Tamoyo even came by and gave her a hug before he had to go, but gave his wife a long look, causing the woman to blush when she realized what he wanted as well.
Gran Torino was beyond happy at having another child to dote on and tell stories about Toshinori, mellowing out over the years of knowing the families he was surrounded by and losing that crusty edge that he was building up since Nana's death.
Recovery Girl was giving a warm smile as well, happily passing everyone gummies and a large batch of nutritional vitamins for Inko to have that would help with her pregnancy. She was more than happy to learn that Inko was pregnant and would use all of what UA to make sure the child was born healthy.
Gunhead was beyond ecstatic, and he wasn't alone as dozens or so heroes from the agency had also come along to offer their congratulation to Inko, stating they will do everything in their power to keep the neighborhood safe for the child.
Naomasa had patted Toshinori on the back, a knowing smile on his face as he looked at his friend as Toshinori was beyond happy as he held onto his wife. Naomasa was worried that the day would never come, and he knew of Inko's complications, but with so much help being offered, he wasn't so worried about the child anymore. Not with the backing of Recovery Girl on the case!
David and Melissa had a video-call to offer their own congratulations to the family. Melissa was more than willing to create a dozen baby items for them; crib, changing station, anything they could think of and she will build it with her own hands. David had to reel her in, but did still offer to build them anything they needed for the child and was more than willing to bend some rules to get it done.
Izuku felt his cheeks were beginning to hurt from smiling so much, people were mingling and happily chatting with his parents, Mina hopping around and exclaiming she would be the best big sister-in-law ever.
Basically everyone was having the time of their life.
Yet, someone was missing from the scene.
He turned to look around before he walked towards the back of the house, seeing someone out in the backyard and staying out of the way of the party. He walked out to see Sir Nighteye looking up at the moon, a sad smile on his face.
"Uncle Nighteye?"
"Hm? Oh, Izuku. Sorry… I just needed some space." Mirai answered him, turning and giving Izuku a long look. "Are you okay? Learning you are about to be a big brother must be a shock."
"It is…" Izuku said quietly, giving him a long look. "What are you thinking of, Uncle Nighteye?"
Mirai stayed silent, looking back to the sky with a sad look, closing his eyes as he thought on what to say. "I am thinking… If Makoda was still alive, would we be also having a kid of our own? I loved her dearly, so much that it still hurts thinking about her. So hearing that Inko is having a child…"
"Oh…"
"I'm sorry Izuku. I didn't mean to-"
"I think you would be a good father." Izuku spoke out to him, a look of determination in his eyes. "Strict, but fair. Extremely goofy in all other ways. Just like how you were with us."
Mirai choked out a small cry as Izuku gave him a hug, the man holding Izuku tightly before giving a small sigh and held Izuku away and gave him a once over. "You are going to be an incredible hero and an amazing brother, Izuku. Never lose your heart. Always strive for the best as you can be."
"Yes sir!"
"Now, come on. I have yet to give my own congratulations and joke to your parents."
A round of boos could be heard a few moments later, but didn't detract from the party at all as it went into full swing soon after.
Time until UA Exam: 18 months
All Might Hero time: 7 hours
(End of Chapter)
A/N: Hello, yes. Another chapter. I am… just churning these out. I guess I got my groove back.
As you can see, major changes are ahead for everyone. Izuku and Mina are now beginning their training for UA, and have time to grow and expand their skills further. With six months to work with once he gains OfA, he won't be as challenged to rush ahead like Canon Izuku, so no need to break bones in a rush. He will have time to learn and grow, but he won't be unlocking those extra benefits anytime soon.
As for All Might hero time, he has way more to work with, and having the benefit of a good portion of the food intake system still in place, its not as bad as it could have been. But he still needs to take it easy.
Izuku and Mina will be similar to their canon selves, but far different. They have a healthy relationship, considering that they have been glued to each other for years, so going out would not have changed much in their eyes. (Mina: Except for kissing. Bonus!)
But their styles of fighting will also be different from what we seen. If people can figure out who is using what, bonus points for you!
As for Inko and Toshi's child… Well, you are going to have to wait for the next chapter to see the tyke.
If you have any questions or concerns, please leave a review and I will try to answer them.
