Author's Note: I'm back after posting just yesterday? yes I am. I started writing this when I wrote the oneshot about Kai and Jack and Kim in China. Then I lost motivation. Then I gained it back this morning and finished. This turned out pretty short, but you guys just like updates don't you. Also this collection is getting close to 100k words isn't that crazy? Also I hear you guys in the comments. I never promise anything, but I do hear you. Your suggestions and ideas and comments are always just sitting there in the back of my head so maybe some inspo will be sparked.

Things turned out okay in the end, considering everything that had happened the past day or so. Jack did not get to compete in the championship, his cousin showed up, his cousin attacked him, and he had a broken wrist. But then his cousin also got disqualified and Jack was awarded the championship anyways and now the gang had an extra day in China to spend together.

They didn't have a lot of time to plan or go anywhere fancy so they settled on visiting a park somewhere where they could enjoy the scenery, get some energy out, and just spend time together. They were the kind of friend group that was close enough if they were just together they could entertain themselves and have a good time. Whether they were literally laying around on the ground doing nothing else or if they were on a scavenger hunt that had them traveling around the globe-it was all the same to them. Today, they just so happened to be playing around at a park.

Kim had gone to the bathroom, cursing the soap-less public restrooms. She missed that particular aspect of US bathrooms. Some things really ought to be universally provided.

When Kim returned to the area everyone had been hanging out in, she looked around, spotting the guys a little further away, looking at something up high.

That's when she noticed that Jack wasn't with them-where he had been before she went to the bathroom. It was Rudy, Milton, Jerry, and Eddie. But no Jack. He had just been there when she'd left, where had he gone? They hadn't left him somewhere, right? He wasn't lost, was he?

Then, Kim followed the guys' gazes, spotting a familiar boy dangling from the exercise equipment available to the public. He was on some kind of monkey bars, holding on with one hand.

"Dude, there's no way he can go another one," Eddie said loudly, studying Jack's position.

"Of course, he can!" Rudy said, cheering Jack on.

"Go for it!" Jerry hollered.

"Jackson Brewer!" Kim screeched, marching up to the base of the equipment next to the others, and glaring at Jack.

"Hey, Kim!" Jack greeted, waving clumsily with his broken wrist, brace and all.

"Don't 'Hey, Kim' me!" Kim yelled. "Get down from there!" Was he trying to get himself killed? He just broke his wrist yesterday! Was she the only responsible one here?

"You have a broken wrist! You can't be messing around like this!" Kim yelled, wondering if Jack had hit his head as well. "Can I not leave you alone for one minute without you getting into trouble?"

"But Kim," Milton argued. "Look at him! He's the most athletic person I've ever seen. He's doing monkey bars fifteen feet in the air with one hand!"

Kim fumed, perfectly aware of what Jack was doing. "I can see!" Kim seethed, causing Milton to drop his smile and scamper back.

"Mamma Kim is out!" Jerry joked, laughing and slapping Rudy on the shoulder.

"It's not funny!" Kim snapped before turning back to Jack. "Jackson, get down!"

"Kim, I'm fine! I won't drop," Jack argued. "Look!" To prove his point, Jack started swinging his body back and forth. If it had been any normal person, the momentum would make them fall but of course, Jack was Jack and he didn't fall. But Kim wasn't an idiot, Jack was injured and he wasn't invincible.

"Jack, stop!" Kim yelled, rushing forward so she could try to catch him if he fell. Not that she would ever be able to catch him without him crushing her, but all she could think about right now was how stupid Jack was being.

Jack stopped and looked at Kim, seeing the genuine fear in her eyes and the fat tears that had started to glisten in her eyes. She was genuinely terrified for him and here he was joking around.

Jack muttered a curse, knowing he messed up.

"Sorry, Kim," he finally said. "I'll come down."

The other guys let out a whine as Jack made his way down. He still had to make a dangerous jump to get off and Kim wasn't having it.

"Jerry, Rudy, go help him," she commanded, waving the over.

Jerry and Rudy stopped complaining and wordlessly obeyed, each standing under Jack and helping him maneuver off the monkey bars while being there in case he dropped.

When Jack was safely on the ground, he looked around and saw Kim with her arms folded. As soon as his feet made contact with the solid ground, she turned around, refusing to look at him or come any closer.

Jack's chest dropped as he shared a glance with the other guys. They gave him shrugs and offered, reluctantly, to help. Jack just waved them off and walked over to Kim alone. This was his battle to resolve.

"Hey, Kim," he said gently.

"Don't talk to me like that," she snapped, still refusing to look at him.

Jack rolled his eyes at her stubbornness and walked so he was in front of her. She still didn't look up but at least she didn't turn away again.

"You aren't allowed to pretend to be all sweet and caring when you just did the stupidest thing I've ever seen. For being pretty smart and athletic, you're an idiot, you know that?" Kim said, not caring that she was insulting Jack left and right.

"Kim, come on," Jack scoffed. "I'm fine, see?"

Kim gave Jack's body a once over quickly before her eyes snapped back to the ground. "For now. Doesn't mean you would still be fine if you hadn't gotten off."

"Kim, hey, come on, what's bothering you?"

"What's bothering me?" Kim snapped, finally looking up and dropping her crossed arms. "I told you! You've been acting like a reckless adrenaline junkie and you aren't taking care of yourself!"

Jack saw Kim's eyes, seeing the fear behind them just as strong as ever. The fear for him. She was right, he was an idiot.

"I'm sorry," Jack apologized genuinely.

Kim scoffed. "It's going to take more than a quick little apology-"

"I'm sorry," Jack repeated, wrapping his arms around Kim and enveloping her in a tight hug. "And thank you."

Kim sucked in a sharp breath and Jack felt her bury her face in his shoulder.

"Thanks for always looking out for me and keeping all of us safe. Sometimes we're idiot teenage boys. You know, the prefrontal cortex doesn't fully develop until you're 25? It's practically involuntary for us to be idiots," Jack informed Kim with fake seriousness.

Kim shook her head against Jack's shoulder, giving him a little push that knocked both of them back a step or two.

"You sound like Milton," she mumbled, her voice muffled by Jack's shirt.

"I've been sharing a tiny hotel room with him for 3 days," Jack chuckled. "I think I overheard Jerry in his sleep talking about string theory. It's a good thing we're going home soon."

Kim let out a quiet giggle, finally lifting her head off Jack's chest. She unwound one of her hands from around Jack's middle, using it to wipe away her damp cheeks.

"I am sorry, Kim," Jack apologized again.

"I know," Kim sighed. "You're right, stupidity is in your nature. You can't help but be an idiot."

"Hey!" Jack laughed, not expecting the blatant insult to come from Kim. She cracked almost immediately, breaking out into a big smile as she dove back into Jack's arms.

"You're not invincible, Jack," Kim informed him. "You're a good martial artist, you know that. And you're really strong and you can do impressive things, but please try not to test the limits when you're already hurt."

Jack smiled patting Kim's back with the brace on his wrist. "Okay, I'll try to be more careful," he agreed.

"Good," Kim said, stepping back and blowing out a breath. She swallowed hard, shaking any doubts out of her mind. "Jack… you know I just care about you, right?"

Jack nodded, his heart feeling ten times bigger at her confession. "I know. If it were you with the broken wrist, I think I'd feel the same," he admitted.

Jack looked around, feeling like they needed something fun to get Kim's tears out of her eyes. "Wanna go have a competition to see who can do more backflips without falling on their face?"

"Jack!" Kim scolded, punching his chest.

"I'm kidding!" he laughed as he ran away from Kim while she chased him, intending to wrestle him to the ground.

Short but isn't it so sweet and uplifting and refreshing? they're so cute.
