We love a protective Mikasa

Mikasa sighed heavily, her body ached, she was starving, exhausted and just all around fed up. She couldn't wait for her shift to be over and she could finally go home for the day, thank god for the lie-in she would have in the morning, no alarms, nothing. She'd been on her feet for hours, putting up with all kinds of bullshit from customers, covered in hundreds of stains. Coffee, food, spills and more, she didn't even know which was which anymore, it just came with the job. She wanted dinner, she wanted a hot shower and she wanted nothing more than to go to bed and cuddle with her girlfriend, she couldn't wait for a hot meal, to soak under the shower head and lose herself in thoughts, then spend the night in Sasha's arms. It had been a long night, the day just seemed to drag on, the hours melting into one another and everything went past in a blur. She just felt glad no customers had attempted to grope her today so she didn't have to crack any skulls. Though harassment wasn't allowed at their work, there was always that customer that pushed their luck. Seeing how much they could get away with before being thrown out. Her hair was bound back into a ponytail, preventing her from hiding behind her hair like she always did, meaning everyone could see her expression. It was kept out of the way but it felt more comfortable loose, she hated feeling that exposed, everyone assumed she was in a bad mood or worse because she had such a blank expression. The only things she heard from customers was how cute she was, but never anything else.

Her white shirt was covered in stains and smelled like grease, a black mini skirt that was insisted as part of the uniform, tights and smart work shoes. She couldn't wait to change out of them, to pull on her hoodie, joggers and a shirt, just something more breathable and less constricting. It was mostly a family based diner but on occasion they got couples and the occasional troublemaker. It helped pay the bills for college, meaning they could get through expenses easily enough. Once she got through college she would become an official officer of the law. She would be working alongside her uncle, protecting innocent people from the same heartache and grief she endured from losing her parents. Besides, it wasn't all bad, she got to come home to Sasha after a shitty shift, knowing she had someone waiting for her at home. She could collapse into her arms and everything else just melted away, her happy place. Sasha always made her feel safe and loved, that beaming smile that made all her troubles disappear, her comfort person, her soulmate, she made it all worth it.

"Mikasa, customer" someone called, snapping her from her thoughts.

Mikasa groaned under her breath, so much for peace and quiet, she couldn't even have a second to herself. She was constantly at the beck and call of customers, draining her of what little energy she may have. She approached the table patiently, she just hoped they ordered and left, forcing herself to smile despite her frustration. "Good afternoon, may I take your order?" she asked. If she was polite enough, appeared friendly, they wouldn't cause her too much trouble and they could leave quickly.

"Wow babe, that bad?" a familiar voice teased, biting back laughter, she had never seen such a fake smile on Mikasa before. She looked a mess and exhausted, she had decided to drop by and check on her. She looked worse than she expected, today must have been awful for her. Mikasa blinked, focusing on the voice, dropping the false facade of customer service and being dragged back to reality. Before she realised the customer was Sasha, her girlfriend, she had just been thinking about her and here she was materialised in front of her. She couldn't believe after what felt like the worst day ever, her serotonin had been restored at last. She wanted nothing more than to scoop Sasha into her arms and cry about how awful her day had been. Sasha smiled fondly, leaning on the table with her elbows to admire her "Hey babe", she had never seen Mikasa so stunned before. She had to admit this was really cute and she couldn't help but enjoy this, revelling in the moment.

Mikasa stared in awe, wondering if this was a dream, she had been prepared to deal with a terrible customer, praying for it to end before screaming in the bathroom. Instead she was met with the pleasant surprise of her lover instead. A shy smile formed on her face, a genuine one, this had to be the best surprise she had all day "Hi" she smiled fondly.

A look of worry formed on Sasha's face, she could see Mikasa had been faking her smile before, hiding a thinly veiled rage. Mikasa looked like she wanted to cry, "You look exhausted" Sasha pressed. Mikasa may have had superhuman stamina and strength from her paternal bloodline, but she was still human and she had her limits. Pushing herself further just meant her body would feel the effects harder than most. She would sleep for a week after this, the body could only handle so much stress, had she even had her break yet? Though Mikasa would never show it at work, Sasha had seen Mikasa at her lowest, her worst and more.

Mikasa groaned, god where did she even start? She was starving, causing hanger which effected her mood and made her short tempered with everyone. They were backed up on dishes and more, her feet ached and they were running low on certain stock again. "Same shit, different day" she reflected, she'd had worse days. All she could think about was her pay check, how all of this would be worth it when she got paid, she wouldn't need to worry about a thing. How comforting her bed would feel when she got home. Her head ached and she needed painkillers, but what she needed more than anything was sleep.

Sasha grinned, mischief flickering behind her eyes, she knew how to make Mikasa laugh and how to make her smile. She knew what Mikasa needed to hear, rather than what she wanted to hear. She would sort out dinner and make sure Mikasa had the relaxing evening she needed when she got home. Letting her girlfriend relax and spoiling her to her hearts content. "At least I get to see you in uniform, so it's not all bad" she winked, she loved how the skirt hugged Mikasa's curves, showed off her legs and figure. She looked both smart and sexy, the best of both.

Mikasa scoffed, Sasha was teasing her but she didn't mind, Sasha had a tendency to call her adorable and sexy on a regular basis. Messy bed hair, half asleep, walking around in her pajama's pre caffeine? Sasha thought that was sexy as hell. But then that was the highest form of love, and she wouldn't have it any other way. But she had time to flirt back and have some fun with it. "You've seen me out of it often enough" she reminded her, a tease in her tone. She had always been able to sense Sasha's eyes on her, roaming her body, her figure, her hands touching her skin. She loved that feeling of being wanted and desired by Sasha, in more ways than one.

Sasha pouted, pointing at her uniform "Mikasa, emphasis on mini skirt, I have standards and you look hot" she reminded her, she was attracted to all genders, all sexualities and all gender identities. She could more than appreciate that Mikasa was a gorgeous specimen of a human being in many ways, they showed off her curves and her legs, some of the things Sasha loved about her. She knew Mikasa was feeling shitty and being praised and showered with affection would make her happy. She could appreciate her girlfriend had a nice body.

Mikasa smiled, this was a lovely surprise and Sasha was making her laugh, somehow the frustrations she previously felt no longer mattered. But she would need to get back to work soon and the last thing she wanted was her manager breathing down her neck the rest of her shift. But she would be lingering around Sasha until she left, if anyone had an issue they could take it up with her. "So, your order? Potatoes?" she chuckled, remembering she was still holding her pen and notepad.

"Y'know, I think I'll take some pie and tea" Sasha smiled, she was in the mood for something sweet and she knew Mikasa would only recommend the best things on the menu. She wanted a decent snack before she had to head home and do more studying. The pies smelled amazing and it would go well with some tea. She couldn't remember the last time she had a decent pie, she wanted to sample the ones here and see if they were good quality.

Mikasa rolled her eyes, but she leaned across the table to give her girlfriend a kiss, smiling against her lips. "Pie it is, but I doubt it can get as sweet as you" she winked. In comparison, even the sweetest thing in the world could never compare to Sasha. She knew all the best recommended pies here, all the best foods, it was how she got so many repeat customers and the occasional tip. She would never give Sasha anything but the best. If any other customer made a comment about her meal, she would make sure they never so much as looked at Sasha again. As she walked back to place her order, she couldn't help the smile on her lips, blushing softly.

"Woah Ackerman, are you blushing?" Reiner asked, he hadn't seen Mikasa smile like that all day, she was practically dancing on cloud nine. What improved her mood so quickly?

"She's a cutie, I'm so jealous" Annie teased, she had noticed the girl Mikasa was speaking to, wasn't that Blouse from high school? The klutz who was obsessed with potatoes? Since when were they friends and how long had they been dating? This was some drama she needed to get in on.

Mikasa glared coldly, her eyes sharp and anger dancing behind her eyes, she had never gotten along with Reiner or Annie in school, they kept to themselves. But if they were expecting gossip about her girlfriend, or teasing her about it, they were mistaken. She'd faced bullies about Sasha before, she wasn't going to have a repeat. "Yes, I'm an ass kicking bisexual with a cute girlfriend, and anyone who gets any ideas is on my shitlist, hands off" she warned. She could handle herself, she had learned all her techniques from the best, her uncle. She had handled Sasha's bullies with ease, she could handle these two without breaking a sweat either. If they were expecting to hound Sasha, they could think again. Sasha belonged to her, she'd been through hell and back to keep her.
