Hey everyone, so before we get into this chapter of The Tales of Overwatch I want to pull the curtain back and explain to everyone what's happened after the last chapter of this story.
As of now I'm still working on chapter 5 of my main Overwatch story, however a lot has happened since then. Originally, I had it written one way, focusing on one character, but I wasn't happy with how it looked, so I decided to rework it, but it ended becoming an entirely different chapter all together. Then on top of that, I fell into a case of writer's block, and just haven't had a lot of time to really sit down and write, especially with the holidays and having fallen sick to a pretty bad flu. And unfortunately, I also lost my job and that has been an absolute mood killer for pretty much everything in my life. Thankfully I'm feeling a whole lot better and now in the process of looking for a new place of employment. Before we continue into this chapter, I want to thank each and every one of you for being patient with me over everything that has happened at the end of 2022 and the beginning of this year. With that all said, I hope you all enjoy this chapter and the rest of this and the main story to come.
I do not own any characters or locations within this story, only original characters. Overwatch is owned by Blizzard Entertainment.

Tales of Overwatch: Lazy Day
-000-
Location: Watchpoint Gibraltar, British Territory of Gibraltar
Date: Present Day
-000-
Overwatch's goal is the safety of everyone around the world, helping those in need against the likes of Talon and Null Sector forces. While the team was only just formed after the events in Paris, they've proven their might during several missions that have taken the organization all over the globe, from Brazil to Egypt and even all the way to the Antarctic. However, even soldiers, scientists and engineers tend to have what we call a "lazy day", and Overwatch is no different from such a thing.

Winston's Laboratory
-000-
The sound of sparks could be heard as Winston was fidgeting with some wires. He had been working on some upgrades to his tesla cannon, wanting to be better prepared for the next mission. Luckily today was not one of those days, and it provided Winston with the opportunity to work on these much-needed upgrades. He gently grabbed a pair of wires and lightly touched them together; this unfortunately caused the genetically-enhanced primate to get shocked with nearly fifty-thousand volts of electricity. His hair stood up straight and his muscles tensed as the volts flowed through his entire body. Now while this would've normally killed an average person, Winston was not an average person, well not an average gorilla at least. He's been shocked before, many times in fact, and he's had many failures with his gear and tech and this is no different. With a growl he let the wires go and shook it off, trying to get the feeling in his muscles back.
"Athena, take a note. Do not connect the red wires before connecting the blue and black wires." Winston ordered as he began to gain movement in his fingers again.
"Noted. Is there anything else you require, Winston?" Athena asked, her voice echoing through Winston's lab.
"Set a timer for one hour, I believe it's time for a break." He joked as he walked over to a small cabinet and opened it up, pulling out a banana and a jar of peanut butter. "I think we can afford that at least."
"Timer has been set for one hour Winston." Athena stated, getting a chuckle from the ape.

Tracer's Room
-000-
Lena Oxton, more commonly known as Tracer was Overwatch's lead pilot, a field agent, and all-around friend to everyone in the team. The watchpoint was her home away from home, though whenever she gets the chance she'll give her girlfriend, Emily a call. After selecting her name, a ringing can be heard before it goes quiet. Then a holoscreen appeared in front of Tracer, giving her a view of her freckled, red-haired girlfriend.
"Hey luv." Emily greets, giving her girlfriend a smile.
"Hiyah, Emily. Sorry I haven't gotten much time to call you luv." Tracer explains.
"No worries, Lena. Saving the world and fighting giant robots can take a lot of time from you. I'm just happy to see you're ok." Emily assures. "I saw what happened in Rio de Janeiro on the telly. You and everyone did amazingly taking out that robot, you even made headlines here in London." She adds showing Tracer a newspaper article with a picture of her and everyone else in Lucio's home-city.
"That's fantastic!" Tracer said with a giggle in her voice. "We're still growing and I don't expect many people to take kindly to Overwatch's return, but you know what I always say." She states.
"The world can always use more heroes." Emily finishes, having heard this saying many times in her relationship with Lena.
The two women shared a giggle as they continued to talk about random topics, such as events going on in London, or about plans for upcoming holidays. This is all Lena truly wanted, at least for this one day.

Watchpoint Practice Range
-000-
Lucio walks over to the control panel inside a small room connected to the practice range. Though he's still a recent recruit to the team, he's grown quite accustomed to his new surroundings. Normally he would be coming up with a new tune to play while he and the crew are on the battlefield, but today he just wanted to get some time to himself, train himself for the upcoming fight. As he presses a button on the panel, and a set of walls and a few training robots emerged from the ground. Lucio steps outside and moves to the bottom of the steps, connecting the room to the range.
"Athena, set a clock for me." Lucio requests getting into a starting position.
"A timer has been set Lucio." Athena states.
Lucio takes a deep breath, looking out to the robots scattered about. As Athena sets the timer, Lucio slides his hand through the air, setting his music to a fast techno beat and begins his run.
Skating through the range, Lucio dashes past a couple of robots, knocking one back with a large soundwave. He smirks as he jumps to a wall, skating on the wall before jumping to another wall, shooting small soundwaves at the robots and destroying them.
"Let's amp it up!" He calls out making his music louder, leaping off the wall with a laugh.
Blasting more robots to scrap metal, Lucio makes one final dash to his starting point. Aiming his gun to one last robot, he fires one last soundwave, blowing the robot to pieces before making his way back to the start.
"What's my time Athena?" He asks as he walks his way back to the control panel. The panel screen changes to a timer that Athena had set, as it reads a total of 12.25 seconds. "Dang, still not beating Tracer's score." He slaps his knee with slight frustration in his voice. "Alright Athena, set a new timer. No stopping till I beat this score." He says with a laugh before heading outside the room and heading back to his starting point.

Mei's Office
-000-
Mei-Ling Zhou sat in her office chair, looking at her moniter through multiple articles over the internet. Some including a recent bank robbery in Sydney, Australia, the Null Sector incident in Rio de Janeiro, and the return of Overwatch. Just as she closed the browser, her mechanical companion, Snowball approached her with a mug of hot chocolate on his head.
"Thanks, Snowball." She chirped as she took the mug from the machine. Snowball made a couple beeping sounds before nuzzling up to Mei, getting a giggle from the scientist. "You're right Snowball, we've been doing so much for the world, fighting Null Sector and all, but we haven't had too much time to just relax." She adds as she opens up another window on her computer, opening up a website to show her a bunch of thumbnails for different videos. "So, what're you thinking we can watch? We can do some of those music videos Lucio talked about." She offered.
Snowball shook his head.
"Yeah, I'd rather listen to it then watch it too." She states. "How about some of those cooking videos Monterey has recommended? She asks.
Snowball shook his head again.
"Yeah, those videos just make me hungry watching them." She adds before something came to mind. "Wait, how about some cat videos? Brigitte mentioned how popular they are; and who can so no to a cute little kitty?" She adds looking to Snowball.
After a brief moment of silence Snowball made a beeping sound, and then nodded getting a smile from Mei. She nods at him before opening up a video of a cat playing with a ball of yarn, she takes a sip of her drink and laughs as Snowball cuddles up next to Mei, beeping as they watched multiple cat videos through the day.

Living Room
-000-
Reinhardt walked into the living space of the base, coffee in hand as he takes a seat on the couch. He lets out an audible sigh, sinking into the furniture as he grabs a remote control and turns on the large television against the wall. The screen changes to a documentary about penguins, narrated by a man with a distinctively deep voice.
"It has been a long time since I have seen this film." Reinhardt chuckled to himself before taking a sip of his coffee. "Back when times were much simpler." He whispered.
"Agreed." A voice said. Reinhardt turned his head to see Angela Ziegler, also known as Mercy taking a seat next to him. "It makes you wonder what happened after Overwatch disbanded." She added getting a nod from Reinhardt.
"So much has changed since Jack and Ana...left us." Reinhardt said with a whisper in his voice, holding back the anger and sadness for his fallen friends. "But that should not break our spirits."
"Of course, Reinhardt." Mercy said stretching in her spot. "Though I'm happy to see you and everyone else, I cannot say that I approve of you bringing Brigitte and Monterey into all of this." She adds before taking a sip of her drink, getting a hardy laugh from the massive German soldier.
"They maybe young, but they have proven themselves capable of taking on this task. Besides you and I both know that there aren't many of us left, either retired or dead, we need all the help we can get, especially if Null Sector and Talon are out there, causing so much destruction." Reinhardt explained getting a nod from Mercy. "Brigitte is a capable fighter and an even more capable engineer, she also has some medical knowledge and can help you in the field. And Monterey may not be the bravest of us, but his navigational and technological expertise more than makes up for it." He states before going back to the documentary.
"I'll take your word Reinhardt, though I still don't like the idea." Mercy states before looking back to a photo with the original Overwatch crew, herself with Winston, Tracer, Reinhardt, Torbjorn, Cole, and Vivien. A frown came across her face looking at the photo, knowing that the Overwatch she knew, what she was a part of will no longer be the same. However, that frown didn't last long, she smiled knowing that now she's part of a new Overwatch, one who will fix the wrongs of the past.

Hangar 18
-000-
Brigitte Lindholm was never one to just sit idly by with nothing to do, always needing to keep herself busy with something to do. Whether this was training with Reinhardt or repairing her own armor, Brigitte always had something to do. Today however was different, no armor needed to be repaired, and Reinhardt's taking the day to rest.
So, she finds herself inside the hangar, working on repairs for the Orca with the schematics Winston had given her. Though she was an engineer, she had never worked on an aircraft vehicle before, but she was never one to turn down a challenge, especially one in the field of engineering. Pulling out the schematics, Brigitte takes a good look at it before turning her attention to the engine of the ship. Taking a wrench, she begins to remove some of the bolts needed in order to open the engine up, lighting the inside up with a flashlight in her pocket and scrunching up her nose seeing the beat-up engine and rust on the part.
"Damn." She curses. "How did you even get this thing to fly Lena?" She asks herself before slowly removing the engine from the ship, setting it onto a table close by. Brigitte was a fairly strong, young woman, but the engine was surprisingly heavy for how small it appeared.
She takes her flashlight and aims it to the engine, scouting out any possible issues the engine may have on the outside. To her relief there didn't seem to be many problems, aside from the engine looking rather old and slightly coated in rust. She curses to herself however as the realization kicked in, if there wasn't a problem on the outside, then the issue was coming from the inside.
"What's a girl to do?" She asks herself before an idea comes to her mind. A slight smirk comes across her face as she gets her phone out and begins to text on it.

Kitchen
-000-
Monterey opens up the refrigerator taking a look inside to find something to eat. His eyes quickly set upon a sandwich he had picked up during their last mission, setting it on a plate before scurrying back into his room. He sets his sandwich down by his computer, grabbing a pink and green can from a mini refrigerator he had installed in his wall. He pops the top of the can open, causing the can to light up and exclaimed "Nano Cola, enjoy!" in a feminine voice.
"Finally, a day to get some work done." He says before taking a sip of his drink.
Plopping into his chair, Monterey opens his computer, locating a file labeled "Blueprints" and opening it up. Multiple windows opened up showing different schematics of various weapons, ranging from various guns, blades, drills, and even an arm cannon.
"I wonder if I can cook something up with these. Maybe I can make those attachments to Reinhardt's armor." He tells himself before taking a bite of his sandwich. Continuing through the schematics, he swipes his eyes over the blueprints before he hears the buzzing of his phone, notifying him of a text message. He swallows before flipping the device over to reveal it's a text from Brigitte.
"Hey Monty, I'm trying to get the Orca's engine back in good shape, but I don't have any tools precise enough to get inside it. Could I borrow your tools please?"
Monterey looks at the text a little puzzled before he started to text back. "You're always welcome to my tools Brigitte. You can just come by and grab them." He sends the message and places his phone down before going back to the blueprints on his computer. After about a moment, his phone buzzes again showing he got another reply from Brigitte. He opens the message and reads it.
"This thing is a little messy and I don't wanna get grease and oil in your room."
He nods before texting back. "It's no problem, I can set a towel for you to step on and you can grab them." He sends the message. He's not trying to avoid her, but these blueprints have been something he's been wanting to study for some time. After taking another sip of his drink he quickly gets another text and reads it.
"It's pretty bad" And following it is a link to a photo she sent him.
He quickly taps it to open the photo before his face goes pink with a massive blush on his face, choking on his drink. The photo was of Brigitte next to the Orca's engine; however, her cheeks were lightly smeared with oil and her tank top was adjusted to show off her lightly freckled cleavage. As if his phone had burned him, Monterey drops his phone onto the table before another text buzzes.
"Could you lend me a hand, pretty please?"
After a moment trying to catch his breath, he shakes his head before picking up his phone and looking it over again. He takes another breath before turning off his computer, putting his sandwich in his fridge and grabbing another drink. He quickly grabs his multitool before bolting out of his room, texting Brigitte as he does. "On my way now, be there in a minute of two." Following his message is a quick heart emoji from Brigitte.

Genji's Room
-000-
Genji sat in silence, candles illuminating his room as he meditated. He to a calm breath before he turned his head to a photo of him and another man. He sighs, taking the photo in his hand before caressing it.
"Brother…" He whispers to himself before placing the photo down. Sadness in his voice before returning to his meditation. "Brother, Master, wherever you both are may you be safe. I sense a great evil is approaching." After a few moments, the flame goes out, leaving Genji in darkness, his mind a hurricane of thoughts for the upcoming fight with Null Sector.

And so we've come to the end of this chapter of Tales of Overwatch. So it's been some time since I've uploaded anything up here in a while and though I did briefly mention it in the beginning, there's a bit to the story. So I had originally planned to have chapter 5 out by the middle of November, unfortunately I was not really happy with how it turned out, so I ended up scrapping the original version of it and began to write out a new one. Then I ended up getting pretty sick with a bad flu that really messed me up, thankfully I'm much better now. And then I lost my job after coming back to work from my bad flu, thankfully I found a new job that I love, but this did cause my depression to hit and it just gave me a bad case of writer's block. But now that things are much better, I'm hoping to get more stories out for all of you this year. Again I'm really sorry for making you all wait this long, but the next chapter will be coming out hopefully soon. Thank you for your patience with me and thank you once more for continuing to read my stories. Love all of you and hope to see you in the next chapter.
-Kris ;)
