Alec was standing in his bedroom, stuffing a bunch of clothes into two suitcases, trying to make as much as possible fit in there, when there was a knock on the door. He sighed and dropped the shirts in his hands on the bed and got out to open the door. He opened it, but didn't bother looking at who it was before he turned and walked back into the bedroom, assuming whoever it was would follow. He did.

"What, not even a hello?"

He hadn't heard it for a while, but he would recognize that voice anywhere. But he didn't have time for this. "Scott, I don't have a lot of time, so if we could make it quick, that would be great."

Scott sighed, but followed him into the bedroom. "Can't you just give me five minutes? I need to talk to you."

Alec sighed heavily and turned towards him, every feature on his face showing his stress and impatience. "Scott, every time I've seen you the last few months has either ended up in a fight or crying, which might have been from the fight and might not. I'm not in the mood for that right now, I'm stressed enough."

"Where are you going?" Scott asked, looking at the suitcases. "You just got back from Paris, right? And that's a lot of clothes you're packing."

"I'm moving, Scott. Can we just get this over with? What did you want to talk about?" Alec said, walking into the living room and sitting down in the couch. Scott sat down in the chair closest to Alec and leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees and putting all the weight of his upper body on them.

"There's no easy way to say this Alec. And it's going to hurt you, I know it will, but you deserve to know. The reason I was so suspicious all the time, and of course more about Magnus, was that I, uh… I cheated on you, Alec. I'm sorry, I really am, and I hate myself for it, but that's the truth."

Alec didn't say anything at first. He just looked at Scott for a few moments, while Scott was looking down and biting his lip. Eventually Scott looked up and saw Alec's blank expression. "Alec, please say something."

Alec hesitated for another few moments. "You… You cheated on me?"

Scott nodded slowly and looked back down.

Alec looked away from Scott without really seeing anything. He was just staring into the air, nothing really registering. "Who was it?" he whispered almost inaudibly.

Scott hesitated, almost as if he hadn't heard it. "It was just a few guys I met…"

"So it was more than once, too? Oh my god." Alec got up from the couch and took a few steps towards the closest door opening.

"Just get out, Scott. I loved you, and I still do, and I probably always will. You were my first, and that doesn't just disappear. You used to be everything I had always wanted, and I felt so blessed that you wanted to be with someone like me. A loser."

He turned to look at Scott again. "But I'm not a loser, am I, Scott? I deserve better than that. I deserve someone who loves me and only me. Someone who's not scared of showing that in public, someone who wants me for me, and not the man they want me to be. Someone who won't cheat on me. I can't believe you would do that to me, Scott. You knew how much you meant to me. I'm done with you. I don't want to see you. I don't want to hear from you ever again. I want you out of my life, Scott. And I guess that'll be easy, since I don't think running into you in Paris is going to happen every day. Now, get out."

Magnus walked in without knocking. He walked straight into the bedroom, where Alec was sitting by the desk with his arms in front of him, head resting on his arms. He was crying. Magnus pulled Alec's chair out so he could grab Alec and pull him out of the chair to stand up. He hugged him tighter than ever before, and Alec just kept sobbing.

"Shh, it's okay, baby. It's okay."

Alec wrapped his arms around Magnus and hugged him back, pulling him as close as he possibly could. "You got here fast. Thank you."

"Hey, anything for you, baby. You sounded so upset on the phone, so I got here as fast as I could. Now, why don't you take a deep breath and tell me all about what happened?"

So Alec did take a deep breath, and he told Magnus what had happened when Scott came over. And once he finished, he had stopped crying, but was still standing in Magnus' arms. Magnus wasn't about to let go of him, either.

"It's okay, baby. He's out of your life now. And after we move, there's no chance of running into him around here, either. Well, unless you're home for a meeting or to just see your family. The point is, he doesn't control your life anymore. It's all yours to take now. You're still young; you're gonna live in Paris; you're going to get your book published. I know it's hard right now, but soon enough you'll look back at this relationship and thinks that that's what brought us together, or if we're not together, at least what taught you what you deserve in your life, okay? It'll be a while, but you're going to be okay. I promise."

Magnus had been running his hand through Alec's hair for a while, but now he had to stop because Alec pulled back a bit to look up at him. "I love you, Magnus, you know that, don't you? I'm not going to leave you."

Magnus smiled softly, but shrugged. "I don't know. People always leave. I just want you for as long as I possibly can before someone else makes you realise you deserve better than me, too."

Alec looked into his eyes. "Nothing's better than you, Mags."

Magnus smiled pushing a bit of hair out of Alec's eyes. He needed a haircut. "Let's just see where the world takes us, okay?"

"Isabelle, I really don't want to talk about Scott right now, okay? We have to be at the airport tomorrow morning at 5:15, so can we just spend this night talking about something else than my ex boyfriend?"

Isabelle rolled her eyes. "Fine, Alexander. What are you going to do first in Paris?"

"Probably get some sleep or watch TV. Just relax, I don't know. If we've been flying for hours, I don't want to do a lot. Besides, we need to get settled in at the apartment."

"Ugh, you're so boring. You have to go do something! Go up in the Eiffel tower and send me a picture! I didn't get to go while we were there, Simon was being a jerk."

Simon walked in to Isabelle's living room just then. He was carrying a tray with five cups of coffee and a cup of tea on it. "I'm afraid of heights, sure, call me a jerk. Maybe you just don't get your coffee then." He put the tray down on the table as far from Isabelle as possible and sat down next to her after picking up his own coffee. She glared at him and made Alec hand her the coffee.

"You can go to the Eiffel tower when you come and visit us, Iz. What does it matter if I send you a picture? If you want to see a picture, go Google the Eiffel tower."

"Oh yeah, when are we going to visit you guys?"

Alec shrugged, taking a sip of the tea. "I was thinking Christmas, maybe. You guys and Clary and Jace of course, Jem and Tess if they have time, and whoever Magnus wants to invite. We could have this big Christmas dinner, it could be really good. What do you think?"

Isabelle's eyes widened. "Alec, that's only a month away, I have to know these things at least three months before! I have to check in on everything, but if I can make it work, it would be really good. What about you Simon?"

He just nodded as he was in the middle of taking a sip of his coffee. He sat down the cup afterwards. "Yeah, doesn't sound bad, Christmas in Paris. I don't think I have anything else planned."

Alec looked at Magnus sitting next to him. "Would that be okay with you?"

Magnus smiled and took Alec's hand. "Of course. That sounds great."

Suddenly, Isabelle got up and walked over to get her phone. "I'll call Jace and see if he's up for it. You call Jem?"

"Iz, let's just wait until later or tomorrow. It's the last night before we leave, okay?"

Isabelle got back down next to Simon and sighed. "Alright. Then how about we play a bit of cards? I never get tired of winning over you guys."

"I can't believe you actually got up at 4am to drive us," Alec said as he yawned and settled into the chair. Magnus was sitting next to him, no make-up or glittery clothes for once. He was just wearing a pair of black jeans and a big blue sweater. He looked like he was about to fall asleep. They had a ton of luggage around them that they had carried in from Isabelle's car. Alec still wasn't sure how it had actually fit into the car in the first place.

"It's no problem. I mean, leaving Magnus' car out here in the parking lot would just be dumb, there are barely any cabs at this time of the morning, and no busses. Besides, I wanted to say goodbye properly."

Alec smiled at Isabelle, who was standing in front of him between two bunches of bags. She had her arms around herself, hugging herself as if she was cold, but Alec knew she wasn't – just a habit she had when she was trying not to get too emotional. "It's gonna be fine, Iz. You'll see us at Christmas, right? Don't be too sad."

"I know, I know… It's just, you've always lived just 10 minutes away from me, and you were always there, and there was no need to worry about time zones or anything at all. But that's all gonna change now," she added quietly.

Alec got out of the horribly uncomfortable airport chair and walked over to hug her. She hugged him back and rested her head against his shoulder. "Think of it this way, Iz; whenever you come to visit us, you'll see the glamour of Paris. You get to look up at the Eiffel tower, and look out over the city lights at night from the apartment. You get to go to all the fancy stores you always dreamed about. Won't that be fantastic?"

She smiled. "Yes it will. But you guys gotta go check in so they can get all of your luggage on the plane before people with normal amounts of luggage starts checking in."

Alec smiled. "You're right. I'll call you when we're at the apartm- … home, alright?"

She nodded and smiled and helped them carry all of their luggage to the check in, where she said goodbye and then left. She would miss them. A lot.

AN: There goes the final chapter. Hooray. Or something?

The epilogue's up next time, but I got work next week, so it probably won't be before the weekend, if then. I'll try to make it as fast as possible, but it has to actually written before I can post it. I have a bit of it written already, and it'll probably be pretty long, so look forward to that if you like the story.

I hope it's fine with you where I ended it. Well, not that it's gonna change if it's not okay with you guys, but I still hope it wasn't a horrific ending.

We also got a reason to Scott being paranoid. You know how when someone cheats, they start getting suspicious of the other person and starts accusing them and all that, bla bla bla. You don't care about that.

Well, I hope you liked it, and I hope you look forward to the epilogue.
