Ha, I'm actually posting today even though I only got one review. Thank you Digimon491!
So here's chapter 3 and I'm just gonna point out now that my OC is a major character in this story, hence the reason there is a main OC couple. I know some people don't like OCs so it's just an upfront warning.
Disclaimer: I don't own anything except my two OCs and this idea.
The Keyblade Agency's cafe was always busy. Agents who were off duty spent time conversing with their fellow spies and tasting the delicious food and drinks. They shared their stories of missions and talked about their normal lives and alternate occupations.
Kidani got bored of hearing it all, even hearing his own friends' stories. He was so tired of it because he wanted to be able to join in with the experiences, go on missions and save the world.
Instead, he was stuck serving bagels and coffees in a cafe right next to the action. He sighed to himself and leaned forwards, folding his arms and resting them on the counter.
Kida knew he could be a great agent; his father had trained him in martial arts, hacking, espionage, and the like his whole life, yet he refused to let him join the Keyblade Agency. Eraqus was far too overprotective and stubborn, and he was rarely around anyways. Running an international spy organization tended to take time away from your family.
Any interaction the two had tended to go in one direction: a spiral before crashing and burning. Kida would beg to be allowed into the Agency and Eraqus would refuse every time.
The fourteen year old wasn't blinded by fantasy. He knew the business was dangerous and sometimes depressing, but he had something he needed from it. He wanted to be able to share in the experiences his friends had for one, but more than anything he wanted to gain the appreciation his father had for his subordinates. Eraqus spent so much time doting on his agents and praising them, Dani wanted his father to be proud of him too. He was jealous of the way the man would vigorously congratulate Cloud, compliment Lightning's skill, encourage Sora, or give his prideful smile to Ven. It hurt a lot more than he wanted to admit.
He didn't blame Ven and the others for any of it; they were just doing their job and they were his friends. They were the only agents who weren't intimidated by the fact that his dad was the Eraqus Masters. He had known them his whole life, and he could never hate them. It just bothered him that they were all so spectacular in his father's eyes while he was… well, normal.
"You aren't falling asleep again at work are you?"
Dani's eyes opened and he pulled his head off the cool surface of the counter, finding his father standing across from him in his usual suit attire with his same serious expression.
"Just resting." The boy remarked, straightening and folding his arms. He knew bringing up the truth would undoubtedly cause another fight, and in the middle of the cafe filled with people at that.
"Can I have a coffee?" The man asked, dropping the money onto the counter.
Kida nodded and made it with practised ease. He knew what everyone's usual orders were by now and didn't even have to ask what they wanted half the time. It made him scowl at how routine his boring life had become.
He handed his father the finished coffee in a reusable mug and the man took a sip, singeing his tongue more than likely even though he didn't show any pain. The younger ravenette grimaced. He didn't know how a person could even manage that. Maybe that pain tolerance was part of the reason that people were so afraid of Eraqus. Well, that, and his temper, and the scar on his face was probably a big red flag as well.
Dani had also long ago determined that he was never ever going to date anyone, ever. Simply because any sane person would be scared off by his father and possibly psychologically scarred for life.
"So, I'm sure Ventus and the others told you of their mission." The man started up a conversation.
"Yeah. An alien huh?" Kida kept his tone raw and emotionless.
"Obviously an important alien, since its rescue crew is on the way."
"How fast is the back-up coming?"
"A smaller scout ship has already arrived, but a much larger one, probably housing an army, entered the solar system this morning and is travelling at an alarming rate. It could be here within three to five days." Eraqus explained.
His son frowned. "So, where did the scout ship go?"
"Towards the base."
"But Ven and the others are on their way there too."
"I have complete faith in them; they will succeed despite any obstacles they must face." The scarred man stated confidently.
"What if they need help though?" Kidani pressed.
"They are a strong team and I have many agents who I could also send."
"Agents who you trust enough with this?"
Eraqus paused, and then sighed and shook his head. "Do not take this in the direction you have set, Kida."
"Why not? Because it's too dangerous for me to go, but not for your closest friends and their kids." Dani snapped.
"We are not discussing this." The older ravenette said sternly.
"We never discuss it, you talk and lecture while I sit there and listen. Why can't you listen to me for once?" The barista happened to notice that they were now garnering the attention of the agents seated about the cafe. For being the top spies in the world, these people weren't all that subtle.
"I already know what you are going to say." The man responded, folding his arms.
That made Kida snap. "No you don't! You never listen to me! You don't care about what I have to say and you always just assume you don't want to hear it! Do I really not matter to you that much!?"
"That is not it at all, Kidani." Eraqus said firmly.
"Well you've sure done a great job of making it seem that way." His son said bitterly as he stomped around the counter and stormed past his dad and out of the cafe. He took off running the second the door shut behind him, passing agents as he navigated the hallways of the agency building, not really knowing where he was going.
Ven barely rolled out of the way in time to dodge an attack from the blunt end of a soldier's gun. The man obviously had no bullets remaining after the initial onslaught of firing when the agents and aliens refused to surrender, and that had made the battling easier. The aliens had shielded the humans from the gunfire with psychic force fields, and then the battle had begun. The aliens were easily taking down the humans, and the agents were battling fiercely with positive results, but more and more soldiers appeared, almost doubling in size with every soldier that was knocked unconscious.
The blond ran at the soldier, managing a swift roundhouse kick that caught the defenceless man right in the side of the head, effectively downing him. He turned and assessed the situation. There was no way, even with the help of the aliens, that the group could continue to fight for much longer. They had to get out before the real cavalry came, and he had no doubt there would be one.
"Ven! Look out!"
The blond whirled around and managed to duck a swing aimed at his head that came dangerously close to making contact. Terra appeared behind the soldier, grabbing his head and throwing him ruthlessly against the wall. The soldier crumpled to the ground limply.
Ven nodded his thanks to the brunette, who blocked another soldier's fist with ease.
"We need to get out of here." Zexion stated as he delivered a quick blow to a soldier's nose.
Ven cringed, glad that he wasn't on the receiving end of that. The man would probably have a broken nose, whip lash, and a concussion.
"We have no exit though!" Riku reminded him.
"Then let's make one." Terra declared, focussing on the wall and beginning to rip through the metal.
Ven defended the brunette, ensuring that he was not disturbed. A hit to the stomach on one soldier, a hit to the solar plexus of another, just enough to deflect them and keep from being overwhelmed.
He suddenly felt fresh, warm desert air and glanced back to find that Terra had gotten to the outside. "Everyone! Fall back!" He yelled.
Everyone gradually made their way to the makeshift exit and filed out. When Cloud, Lightning and Ven, the final three, were outside, Terra collapsed the exit, and the tons of metal above buried the soldiers chasing them.
"On the ship now guys!" Ember ordered from the hatch. Xion had obviously already started it up and was ready to go.
An explosion shook the ground and the four remaining rescuers glanced back at the base, finding that a large group of soldiers was heading their way now, guns blazing.
The spaceship lifted from the ground when tanks and airships joined the fray. Lightning hopped onto the top of one of the tanks and broke off the hatch, slipping inside. She disposed of all of the soldiers swiftly.
"Ven, Terra, get going, we'll distract them." Cloud ordered.
"But..!"
"Come on!" Terra grabbed the protesting blond and jumped with inhuman strength to the spaceship, which was about a hundred feet off the ground at that point. Ven felt his stomach flip and decided that super jumping was not a pleasant experience; it very much felt like the opposite of bungee jumping, and he despised that.
The two rolled into the hatch and it shut behind them before the ship sped off, leaving behind the battle. Hayner and Sora helped Ven to his feet and Demyx did the same with Terra.
"Where's mom and dad?" Hayner asked.
"They stuck around." Ven tried to sound confident, like he was in his parents' abilities, but his tone came out worried and was ruined further by a half-assed laugh.
Terra rested a hand on the younger boy's shoulder. "From what I have seen, they can handle themselves."
"Yeah, I'm sure they will be completely fine." Demyx agreed optimistically.
Ven really hoped so. Knowing the two of them, they would probably be waiting at headquarters by the time everyone else got back.
He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, meeting Terra's eyes. The man smiled, probably the first genuine smile Ven had seen on him. Their mission had succeeded. They had rescued the alien prince and avoided an worldwide war.
No Akuroku in this chapter really but Happy Akuroku day regardless everyone! Please review, the plot is about to intensify!
