I stood there utterly speechless as to what my darker counterpart had just said. I could feel an aching sensation in my chest and tears rush to my eyes, causing an unbearable sting.
"I can't have you being with me but being unhappy about it, Link. It isn't fair on either of us. You obviously aren't happy being with me, so just go back to Hyrule and go after your girlfriend!" Dark bellowed and then turned away. His body trembled and I could feel that he was upset. No, upset didn't even begin to explain what Dark could've been feeling. Attempting to swallow the lump in my throat, I slowly approached him. Resting my hand on Dark's shoulder, I tried to explain myself. Not that I really had to, as I hadn't done anything wrong.
"Dark...please, listen..."
"Don't touch me!" He growled and pushed me away. I landed on my backside with an 'oof'. The tears broke free and started to trickle down my red cheeks.
"Dark, why are you being like this so suddenly?! I haven't done anything wrong! I just said that I miss my home! Is that a crime to miss where you were born?!"
"I was born there too!" He screamed back at me, spinning round, his crimson eyes meeting my own sapphire gaze. "I was born from you, but I was different! I was evil, and I was banished! I had to live alone and I was scared! I had no one, Link! The only one, who I knew would trust me, was you! You, Link!" Dark was now crying. It hurt to see this side of him; the frightened and fragile side. He seemed to have lost all feeling in his legs and fell to his knees. Dark was on all fours and he continued, but this time, it wasn't a scream...but a desperate plea. "Please, Link...! Don't leave me alone...! I don't want to be alone again! It hurts...! It scares me...! I know I don't belong in thi-" I couldn't let him finish his sentence. I just couldn't. I ran to him, knelt in front of him and then held Dark in my arms tightly and protectively.
"Shhh~ Don't say that, Dark...just don't..." I cooed, stroking his silver hair softly. "You do belong in this world, Dark...you do. Don't listen to those evil voices in your head who tell you otherwise~"
"L-Link..." Dark looked up at me with hope in his watery eyes and I simply kissed his temple with a small smile.
"I'm not going to leave you, Dark. I love you...I really do..." He cupped my face and kissed my lips, bringing me closer to his tall self. I could feel his heart beating in his chest as I pushed my hand gently against it. "Mmmm~ Oh Yami~~" Dark gasped and broke the kiss.
"Wh-What did you just say?"
"Yami means "dark", doesn't it? While Hikari means "light". If you call me Hikari...then you must be my Yami...right?" Dark smirked and picked me up 'Bridal Style'.
"For now and forever, baby~" He then took me back into his home. "Now...if I'm correct...you owe me round two~~"
