A bright light flashed in the distance. "That's the signal, move!" Sam launched himself into the darkness, followed by the rest of the pack. Jacob and Seth stayed behind and watched until everyone was out of sight. "Come on, we should get moving." Jacob said. Seth hopped onto Jacob's back and the pair set off into the darkness. "This is stupid... I should be there fighting..." Seth thought to himself. "I know it's hard. But everyone just wants you to be safe." Jacob said. Seth growled in frustration.
On the battlefield it was all out chaos. The shape shifters were struggling against the werewolves, despite outnumbering them by three. Their attacks, though very coordinated, were useless against the werewolves, who's powers were intensified by the full moon. "I. WANT. SETH! WHERE IS HE?!" Ennis bellowed. "Sam, this is useless... we're gonna die if we keep this up." Leah said. Sam ignored Leah's words and jumped back into the fray. Sam leaped and aimed for Ennis' throat, only to be swatted away like a common house fly, he collided hard into a nearby tree. Sam regained his footing and surveyed the battlefield, they were losing, badly. No one had been able to lay so much as a claw on any of the werewolves. "We need a new game plan." Embry said.
"We have to go back." Seth said. Jacob remained silent. "We have to go back and help them!" Jacob sighed. "I` want to too Seth... but orders are orders. Sam told me to keep you safe and that's what I'm going to do." Seth tugged at Jacob's ear. "Why are you even listening to Sam? You're an Alpha too." Jacob shrugged. "I don't know. Sam's like the, 'Alpha of Alphas.' I can't help but follow him sometimes." Seth climbed down from Jacob's back. " I can't just run away." He and Jacob stared at each other for a few tense moments. Suddenly Seth turned on his heel and ran. "SETH!" Jacob called out to him. There was no stopping him. He wasn't going to just run away. Seth could see Jacob pursuing him out of the corner of his eye but it was useless. There was no way Jacob would be able to catch him in time.
Seth arrived on the battlefield and wasted no time fully phasing, in the process, saving Paul from a werewolf, who had him pinned to the ground and was preparing to deal the final blow. The werewolf fell to the ground with a thud, a large portion of it's throat missing. "Thanks for the save Seth, but you're not suppose to be here. Where's Jake?" Seth didn't answer. He set his sights on his next target and charged towards it.
Jacob was completely out of breath by the time he arrived, Seth had outran him by a couple of miles. He immediately surveyed the battlefield and tried to pinpoint where Seth was. Jacob found Seth right as he ruthlessly took down another werewolf. Jacob stood opened mouth at his boyfriend's viscousness. While he was glad that the werewolves were being taken out and that no one had been seriously hurt, seeing Seth act in such a monstrous way was hard to stomach. He was such a kind and gentle person.
Then Jacob noticed something. Seth's wolf-form looked... different. The once gangling wolf with comically oversized paws now bristled with muscle. His paws now coincided with the rest of his body, and although Jacob wasn't quite sure, he believed that Seth was now larger than both him and Sam. He was beautiful. Jacob decided not to waste anymore time and began phasing. Right as he felt the fur begin to sprout on his body, a clawed hand seized him by his neck from behind. Jacob dangled in the air, frantically kicking and gasping for breath as the hand tightened it's grip. " I want Seth. And you're going to help me get him. " a menacing voice said from behind. Seth and Sam took down the final werewolf together, ripping out it's entire chest cavity and decapitating it's head. Seth paced back and forth around the body, snarling and growling as he went, as if expecting for it to get back up.
Suddenly, the sound of a twig breaking and leaves crunching. Seth snapped his head around to investigate. He immediately became enraged when he saw Ennis holding Jacob, a clawed hand wrapped around the back of his neck. "Well Seth, since it would appear that you have no plans on coming with me, I've had to resort to other means of persuading you." Ennis said in a eerily calm voice.
"Give it up! You've lost and your pack is dead." Sam said, exposing his teeth. "Them? They were nothing. They were going to be replaced anyway." Seth lost it and charged towards Ennis, mouth wide open, ready to kill.
Ennis forced Jacob's head back and lightly sunk his claws into his neck. Jacob fell to his knees. "I wouldn't be so hasty if I were you Seth." Seth stopped in his tracks. " You seem to be awfully... attached? To this one. You wouldn't want anything to happen to him, would you?" "Don't listen to him Seth!" Jacob shouted. Ennis dug his claws further into Jacob's neck, forcing a half scream, half roar from him. "Why isn't Jacob phasing?" Leah asked Sam. "He can't. Not while those claws are dug into his neck like that. We need to find a way to separate them."
Sam and Leah took a few steps forward. Seth snapped his head around at them and let out a low, but powerful growl, demanding that they stay back. He didn't want anything to happen that could further jeopardize Jacob's safety. Seth was still enraged but he had to approach the situation rationally. Being reckless wouldn't solve anything and could lead to Jacob getting killed. Seth exhaled and started counting his breaths until they started to slow. "Fine... I'll go with you. I'll do whatever you want. Just let him go." "But Seth..." Jacob said.
Seth phased back to his human form and fell to his knees on the forest floor. "Just let him go..." He said. Ennis released Jacob from his grip and roughly shoved him forward. Jacob ran to Seth and wrapped his arms around him. Seth didn't return the hug. "Please, you don't have to go with him." Jacob pleaded with Seth to stay. "We can take him. It's just him now." Seth forced Jacob's hands off of him. "I'll be fine Jake..." "NO! You can't just leave! Not after everything." Jacob said, tears streaming down his face. Seth stood up, avoiding eye contact with Jacob. "I'll be fine." Seth said as he walked away to join Ennis. He placed his overcoat around Seth's naked body and they set off into the darkness, not another word said.
The sun was beginning to rise, Seth and Ennis had been walking for hours, not a single word said between the two. "Exactly why do you need me?" Seth suddenly asked. "I have a dream Seth. A vision if you will. A perfect pack. A pack that can't be defeated. A pack who's mere name will strike fear into the hearts of all that hear it. A druid Quileute shapeshifter and myself, an alpha werewolf, are just the first two components." Ennis explained. "I see." Seth said. The sun had nearly fully risen and the moon was only faintly visible. It was time for Seth to set his plan into motion. He would never see it coming. Seth silently entered his beta phase. His eyes changed from their normal brown to a bright yellow. His finger nails grew and sharpened as they turned into claws. His canines grew and filed themselves into mini daggers. His ears grew and shaped themselves into a point. His forehead broadened and finally, side burns sprouted on both sides of his face. "I have a vision too." Seth said. He forced both of his clawed hands into Ennis' back. "And it doesn't involve you!" Ennis fell to his hands and knees, coughing up large amounts of blood. Seth kicked him onto his back. "The full moon is over. Your powers are gone."
"Please..." Ennis began to beg. Seth drew back one of his hands and it was all over in a flash. Fives lines across Ennis' throat ended it. Seth left Ennis' body in the same position he had died. Anyone who stumbled across it would think it was an animal attack that claimed him. "Burn." Seth said as he walked away to rejoin his loved one.
~ Okay I am way behind on updating and I apologize. In addition to school, I've also had a major writer's block which prevented me from updating in a timely matter. This story is now finished but as said previously, this isn't the end of Jacob's and Seth's story. ~
