Lily smiled and leant against the door-frame and sipped a glass of her blood laced wine, watching Marcel attempting to learn how to waltz…or something akin to that. Well whatever it was he completely failed at it.
Marcel had been here for several months now, and much to the former's slave delight he found a good friend Lily. For some reason he still found it difficult to believe that she was a vampire, he believed in those creatures for sure, after all he was saved by one but….she didn't act like a vampire…she was in an odd-sense tamed somewhat.
"It would be easier Marcel if you had a partner instead of an imaginary one." She drawled and smiled seeing him jump in surprise.
Marcel huffed he could feel the heat rising on his cheeks. "You did that on purpose-"he accused, "Sneaking-"
Lily shrugged her shoulders, she was wearing one of her indoor dresses, plain and simple, nothing like the intricate decorated gowns she wore daily. "Hardly sneaking, if you open up your ears a tad bit…then you would have heard me."
Marcel shot her a dry look, "Hardly we all don't possess heightened hearing Lillian-"
"Lily in insist." She set down the empty goblet, and canted her head to the side "So why the need to dance? Or-"
"Well just thought of something I would try-if I offended you anyway I did not mean to." Marcel bowed his head.
The corners of her plump lips twitched in amusement. "Your atrocious dancing is what is offending me." She smiled and moved forward "come Marcel-"she held out her hand, the former slave hesitated…he was still weary and Lily didn't blame him, it was after all human nature to be frightened. "I will teach you to dance."
"Really Lily you do-"Marcel started, her long red locks tumbled down pass her shoulder, and the firelight that lit the room seem to make her face glow.
"Every nobleman needs to learn how to waltz." She teased him, and she didn't miss the blush rising on his dark cheeks.
"I am not a nobleman-"
"Ah ha-not when I am done with you." Lily declared and gently took his large hands, she put them in position, one of her waist the other on her shoulder. "Now keep your back straight, posture is important after all." She smiled, and slowly through her teaching Marcel was beginning to get the hang of it.
"Great now let's move onto something faster-"Lily beamed and before he could blink she spun him around with her enhanced speed, Marcel laughed loudly, and captured her hand and dipped her low. This was the first time in a long time he was genuinely enjoying himself.
"Ok now I just realised something sweet Lily-"Marcel took a swig of the bottle of alcohol, she was right the fiery liquid certainly too the edge of his inhibitions off.
"And what is that?" her face was flushed and she easily tugged him close, he stumbled and fell down on to the chaise lounge that was in the corner of the room. Marcel reached up and pulled her down so she was straddling his thighs. The skirt of her gown bunched up around her knees.
"We were dancing without music-"he pointed out,
"Oh yes terrible." Lily locked seriousness, he barked out a laugh.
"Now I am curious about you" she murmured, the red head didn't bring up his past a lot for obvious reasons but this one thought has been nagging at her in the back of her mind whist he stayed with them.
"Hmm? Now what could an almighty vampire want to know from me?" he smiled widely.
"Your vampire companions, this Niklaus you speak of." Lily murmured, running the tip of her finger down his jaw…all else was silent in the room, she could hear Marcel's heart beating, a strong and steady beat.
Marcel stiffened "Why do you wish to know of him?" a flare of protectiveness went through him.
Lily smiled "Hush little human, I merely want to know what type of man he is? You speak of him in love and kindness…is he a good man? A good person?"
Marcel licked his lips, his dark brown orbs dipped down to the swell of her breast, the way her hips curved out….a true woman's body.
"He is a good man to me….but-"Lily's eyes zeroed in on the pulse thrumming from his neck. She hadn't had the taste of fresh human blood in a long time.
"He is a vampire, like all vampires there is darkness." She breathed, and clenched her eyes shut "It's late you should go-"she went to get off of his lap but his arm around her waist tightened.
"You are hungry." Marcel stated the obvious…."You can show me them…I won't run in fear." He promised, it didn't escape his notice that this vampire seem to put up a front. "You-can drink from me…I notice you take bottled blood-fresh is always better is it not?"
Lily smiled painfully "It's a required taste…and fresh blood hasn't been in my system for a while." She uttered, snapping her eyes open. Marcel could see that they darkened in hunger.
"You fear a lack of control?" he questioned; he could feel the heat coming off of her. Marcel was under no illusion that with a flick of her wrist she could have his head off, but he was strangely attracted to her….
"I killed people before by no means am I a perfect vampire….it gets tiresome….my existence the constant fight….I do not wish to hurt humans, their lives are so short." Lily licked her lips, her hands were resting on his broad shoulders.
"How can you gain control if you do not drink from the source?" Marcel asked, he sighed when her soft hand brushed his jaw. "Feed from me…"he felt her stiffen.
"What?" Lily growled, his eyes met her emerald green orbs. "I could hurt-better yet kill you-"
"I trust you-"Marcel said earnestly, "You have done so much for me….i can give you this. I trust you." he repeated.
Lily swallowed; she wanted his blood….it smelt so heady and….delectable. "You sure?" she asked leaning down, completely oblivious to the view she gave him of her cleavage.
"Yes." And right before Marcel's eyes her face transformed, the veins around her eyes darkened and protruded, and her fangs lengthened.
Marcel's breath hitched "You look….beautiful." he reached up and gently ran a finger below her eye, causing Lily to shudder. She captured his eyes with her own dark ones.
"You will not feel any pain. Only pleasure." She compelled him, with that Lily sank her fangs into his neck, he stiffened for a second before a low groan left his lips. Her lips latched onto the bite and she sucked. Marcel's grip on her tightened and he ran his hands up and down her back, stroking her. her skirts went higher, and felt his own breeches tightened as his hand caressed her beneath her dress. Lily moaned and pulled back, her red locks fell forward and she licked her fangs. She pressed the flat side of her tongue and gave him a lick. And hummed in response. Marcel's fingers were digging into her flesh. When she straightened he reached and cupped her face.
"I want you." the vampire drawled. This was a one off, the red head needed a sense of release. This wasn't the first time she had lovers.
"Have me-"he tugged her down again and kissed her hard on the lips. Marcel could taste his own blood on her lips and it made him even more aroused. Tonight would be a night in which he won't forget.
Lily groaned and rolled over, she yelped when she hit the hard floor. She shook her head causing her red hair to hit her in the face. "Damn…I'm doing a Damon." she mumbled, it took her a few seconds to get her bearings. She was squished in between her couch and the coffee table. There was a bottle of bourbon that was nearly drained.
Thank god she was a vampire otherwise she would be a total wreck. After she had told the doppelganger to wake Elijah…her attempt to go to sleep, failed so Lily ended up in her front room, watching some random television, and must have drunk herself into a stupor, she staggered onto her feet.
The red head sniffed and made a face smelling something funky…"Damn it's me." The whole Last Dance thing got way out of control and she was too lazy to take her nightly shower.
The red head switched off the television and made her way into her bathroom…she slammed the door shut and had a quick shower.
Lily took a moment to cherish the small time of peace whilst she showed. Waking an Original…would make her day a bit more chaotic then she was hoping.
She pressed her temple against the cool tiles, and closed her eyes letting the warm water run down her body.
Lily pressed her lips together and recalled last night's events…she was still wondering if it was a good thing to wake the Original up….they were out of options, Klaus was in town, using Alaric and they didn't know a thing about this most feared Original.
She unconsciously raised her wet fingers to her lips, he kissed her, and twice…now why would he do that? Did he know her like Elijah…god Elijah; she didn't know what she would do about him.
Lily was pulled from her thoughts, when her enhanced hearing picked up the sound of her phone ringing.
The vampire shut the shower off, and in a blur of movements she was by the kitchen counter where her phone was on the counter. Lily tightened the towel around her bare form and picked up the shrilling device.
"Elena is everything ok?" she asked the doppelganger.
"Yes, Elijah needs some clothes and blood bags, so we're on our way."
Lily swallowed "Fine." Without another word she hanged up, and sighed. She knew she would have to face the Original sooner or later, so she sucked it up. they would be here in twenty minutes if they were driving, and from the sounds of it the Gilbert teen was.
The red head quickly got ready, pulling a pair of coloured jeans and a camisole, before finding her black cardigan.
She went through the room and grabbed a pair of black pants, matching suit jacket and a shirt. Lily grabbed a two blood-bags, just as she heard footsteps on her gravel pathway.
She squared her shoulders and opened the door, Lily eyes met Elijah's oak brown orbs…god she missed them.
"Lily-"Elijah blurred forward causing the doppelganger to jump in surprise.
"Come in." she said curtly, stepping aside to allow him in. "Here-these are yours, when your done I believe Elena wants to talk to you."
The Original went to reach out to her but she turned on her heel.
"Yeah she's still mad at you." Elena mumbled trailing after her descendent. Elijah's jaw clenched and his curled his hands into fists. He had some serious making up to do.
Soon enough Lily, Elena and Elijah were sitting around her coffee table. The red head…was burning to both either hug him or smack him…she just decided to be indifferent.
The only sound that filled the quaint and small house was the sound of the Original slurping down the contents of the blood bag, Elijah had showered and dressed in under ten minutes.
The red head sipped her tea whilst Elena fiddled with the half-eaten apple. "You look better." The doppelganger said breaking the tense atmosphere.
"Lovely what a bit of blood can do, right Elijah?" Lily sneered at him,
The Original sighed "Lillian we need to talk-"
"Not now-"she snapped, she was too pissed off to even look at him. Seeing him walking around just renewed her anger at him.
Elijah nodded, not wanting to push the angry red head over the edge. "Very well, where did you get the dagger?" he asked instead.
Lily nodded towards Elena. "Ask the girl. Her and her Salvatores procured it I believe." She murmured, her green eyes travelled over to the window, where she saw a few birds flying past. Her mind was still whirring.
"I will tell you everything, but we have to work together Elijah." Elena started; grating on Lily's already worn down nerves. "I need your word."
"Your abilities to make demands have long since passed." He drawled balling the plastic bag into and placing it on the coffee table.
"No demands." Elena uttered "I need your help, and you need mine."
"And why should I help you?" he looked at the girl, this human girl…who believed that she was holding all the cards.
"The same reason you haven't killed me yet. You need my help to kill Klaus." The doppelganger said. Lily downed the rest of her tea and leant back in her squashy sofa.
"Elena you are foolish-"Lily commented causing her descendent to snap her head in the red head direction. "You have no chips to bargain with, Elijah can easily just take you-so chose your words carefully. This isn't a small game dear, you're in something a lot deeper. So don't over-value yourself."
Elena swallowed nervously, she didn't think of it like that. The Original was impressed, seeing that his former lover was right on the money. Technically Elena's 'help' was insignificant after all he could easily just take her.
Before anything else could be said, the brief moment of silence was interrupted when the teenage girl's phone went off.
"Where are you? You ok?" both vampire easily heard the youngest Salvatore's voice. Lily jumped onto her feet and grabbed her empty cup, as well as the finished blood bag she entered the kitchen to throw it away
Elena cleared her throat "Yes I'm fine, Lily is with me." She said as the vampire re-entered the room.
"Where's Elijah?"
"He's right here-"Elena said looking at the Original, however the dark haired man was barely paying attention to her since he was watching the red head. Who was leaning against the counter with her arms folded.
"I'm on my way" Lily's heightened hearing picked up the sound of Stefan's voice.
"No Stefan, I need some time alone with Elijah." The doppelganger argued
"He can't be trusted he'll use you to get to Klaus." He countered.
Lily shook her head, bloody teens were giving her a headache…she was already pissed off and it was mounting.
"Elijah is a noble man Stefan, and he'll be stupid to betray me, by removing the dagger I have proven myself." Elena said brazenly, once again unknowingly irritating her ancestor.
"You can't do this alone."
"It's my decision Stefan. Please respect it. And make sure Damon doesn't do anything stupid." She hanged up, and handed the cell phone over to Elijah.
Lily cleared her throat "Ok, you two should leave then." She walked across the room opening her front door.
Elena frowned "Look Lily I know you got issues with Elijah but-"
"Don't be childish Elena." Lily snapped "You told your boyfriends that you're with me. Where will they come to look first? And you don't know anything about my issues with Elijah so go please. Go to the Lockwoods, their manor is empty."
Elena sighed and nodded, she grabbed her jacket and left. Elijah went to follow after and just stepped over the threshold before he turned around. "Lil-"she slammed it in his face.
Lily leant heavily against the door, "God this is tiring…and it's too early to be drinking." She growled under her breath.
She knew she was avoiding the inevitable, Lily would have to face him sooner rather than later…but she was still just so angry.
Lily found herself in the Grill, taking a sip of her glass of Bourbon. She had received a text from Elena saying that she was at the Lockwoods now.
"Another one please Glenda-"she called out to the barwoman, and frowned seeing the pile of paper work that was in front of her. Lily still had her papers to grade….her ears perked up hearing the stool besides her scraping.
"Ah I know that face-"Mark Thompson exclaimed, he was the algebra teacher of Mystic High. "Grading papers face."
"Is there any other look?" Lily smiled, the bloke was nice enough…he was in marriage that was stuck in a rut. "So how's…Me-"
"Linda-"
"Your wife's name is Linda?" she hummed and thanked Glenda who returned with her drink. Mark shot her a look and sipped his own beer.
"Yes…you met her last week…"
Lily made a face, "I met a lot of people." She said, "She mustn't have stood out."
Mark chuckled and sighed "Well…I think she's having an-no I know she's having an affair." He said,
Lily's brows furrowed "But that's not the worst thing-"
"There's worst?"
Mark huffed and downed his beer "Yep…it's the lying. She lies all the time…"he said.
"Ah the lies that's what ruins a relationship." Lily drawled, the bar itself wasn't too busy but that won't be the case for too long since it was nearing lunch time.
"Been in a bad one yourself?" he questioned, as he flicked through some of the already marked papers.
Lily shrugged her situation was rather complicated "Sort of…it's a long story." Her eyes snapped up when his hand came over hers.
"I got time." he said charmingly.
The red head smirked "Honey I'm not going to sleep with you to make your Mrs jealous." She said, Mark pouted
"Just sex-"
"Nope." Lily chuckled "You should speak to her, have out of the marriage, you're obviously not happy." She said downing the rest of her drink.
Mark pouted "Or I could stay here and drink away my sorrows. Well if you do happen to change your mind, I'll be here." he winked and sauntered off.
Lily rolled her eyes, wondering if she had a sign on her forehead saying that 'arseholes come here'. She shook her head and glanced down at her phone seeing that she was getting a call, seeing the name flashing across the screen brought a smile onto the red head's face. It was Jenna.
"Hey Jen-"she rested her chin on her palm, the bar was not beginning to fill out, she waved at some passing students "living it up in Campus?...don't tell me you got drunk and did a strip-tease? You should really control yourself." She joked.
Jenna on the other end snorted. "Yeah I wish…"
The red head's brows furrowed at that, as she waved the barman over and gestured to her empty glass, a second later another glass of bourbon was set in front of her. "Why? What's up?"
The vampire took a sip and started to neaten the piles of papers that were set in front of her, as she listened to her friend. "It's weird; I don't know where Elena or Jeremy are. No one apart from you is picking up their phone."
Lily cleared her throat and took another gulp of the fiery liquid. "Well I don't know, they're teens Jen they don't exactly pick up when you want them to. Anyways why are you so eager to get a hold of them? they're safe here." she added. She tapped the top of the bar, and took another mouthful of her drink….damn Elijah drove her to drink…even thinking about him annoyed her…there was one thing she noticed in her memories, it was always the same.
"Well the thing is Elena left me all of these weird messages telling me to stay away from Ric. What's going on?"
Lily paused….what the hell was she meant to do? They needed to keep Jenna safe, and away from Mystic Falls, after all she didn't know her boyfriend was currently being possessed by an all-powerful vampire who was set to kill her niece.
"Erm…she-the thing is Jen…Elena wants you to stay on campus. Nightmare I know, but hey at least you get some time off from here…"she licked her lips clutching tightly onto her nearly empty glass.
"Yeah I wouldn't mind that…but I can't at the moment."
"Why not?" she demanded tensing slightly.
"Because I am currently standing in my kitchen. I'm actually surprised that you didn't even realise but then again your car isn't your driveway-"
Lily ribbed her temple "Oh so…so you're home?" she stood up.
"Yeah look, I have to go meet Ric at the Grill, he wanted to talk about us and-"
"No-"the red head nearly shouted, she ignored the looks some of the patrons were shooting her way. "Stay there, I'm coming over-"
"Lily="
"No just trust me, do not meet Ric. We really need to do some catching up." she hanged up and downed the rest of her drink slamming a tip and the glass down, before rushing out of the Grill.
"Oi-"she looked over her shoulder, whilst pulling out her keys from her pocket, it was such a stupid idea to drive here…she should have ran. But the driving…doing human mundane things were sort of therapeutic. "Mark?"
"Just wanted to let you know I'm around here if you want a drink…"He grinned, she nodded distractedly and climbed into the car. "Yeah ok bye-"she slammed the door shut before he could say anything man. Lily started the car and pulled onto the road. "Sad, sad man…"nope she was not going to be meeting him for a drink any time soon.
The car skidded to a stop outside the Gilberts, across the street she could see Stefan knocking on her front door. Her brows puckered in confusion as she got out of the car. As soon as she shut the door, the younger vampire spun to face her.
"Crap-"she mumbled and started to make her way towards the Gilberts house.
"Lily-"
"No-"
"Lils-"
"Stefan wha-"she groaned in frustration and was forced to stop. "Don't do that-"she whacked him upside the head when he vamp-speed in front of her.
"Oww-"he grunted and rubbed the back of his head. "Ok, sorry, well where is Elena?"
"With Elijah-"she answered, the sun was out in Mystic Falls, yet there weren't many people in the street.
Stefan shot her a look "Yes but where-"
"Somewhere, she is safe I wouldn't have sent her off otherwise." Lily said "And stop smothering her, isn't that Damon's job?" the older vampire pushed passed him, and stomped up the Gilbert porch steps.
"Ha ha-"Stefan drawled "I'm worried-"
Lily sighed in defeat "Listen Stefan. Don't make her choices for her…just let her do this. She trust you to do this for her…" she said, causing the younger Salvatore to meet her eyes.
"You really think so?"
"Trust is what is needed in a relationship." She smiled and patted him on the shoulder. Stefan licked his lips but nodded.
"What are you doing here by the way? Jeremy isn't home he's with-"Lily knocked on the front door.
"I know but, Jenna is back and 'Ric' wants to meet her." she muttered the pair could hear footsteps coming towards them.
Stefan was miffed "She's back already?"
"Yes, and we need to tell her what's going on. She has to stay at the Boarding House now." Lily uttered and smiled when the door swung open revealing her best friend.
"Oof-Lils, I was only gone for a couple of days." Jenna grunted when the red head launched herself at the human and hugged her. Jenna hugged her back, the last couple of days had been tough, but she was happy seeing Lily.
Lily smiled "Yep but felt like a lifetime….and Stefan is here too. He came to tell you where Elena is-"she said throwing him under the bus too. Jenna stepped aside "good that you didn't go to the Grill, I think I drank all their bourbon so-"
"Plus you really don't want to see Ric." Stefan chipped in, "He-he's in a bad way." Lily nodded and stepped forward, but felt the blood in her veins standing there was 'Alaric' who was wearing a smirk on his face.
"Hello Lily-lovely to see you again. "He drawled, from the corner of her eye she could see Stefan tensing up. "Stefan, nice to see you too."
Lily swallowed "Well….good to see you too Ric." She glared at him, "But I and Jenna re going to hit the town tonight so-"
"It's a bit early, come and have lunch Lily. You look a bit peaky-"the possessed teacher reached forward and grabbed her hand. "You've been feeding?"
"I'll get the clean plates." Jenna bustled pass heading into the kitchen, Stefan waited by the entrance to the kitchen.
"My feeding is none of your business." Lily snarled
"You are my business-" 'Alaric' growled, but the petite red head pulling her close so she smashed into his chest, Stefan gritted his teeth and went to launch himself forward, but the red head ripped her wrist away.
"No I'm not." She snapped
"Lily do you remember where I put the wineglasses?" Jenna called out, breaking the intense staring competition between Lily and 'Alaric'.
As she entered the kitchen the Petrova vampire could tell this was going to be another long day.
Lily swallowed her glass of wine, contemplating how far this whole situation was going to go on for. She was leaning against the counter, with Jenna besides her, whilst Stefan was leaning against the fridge.
"Lily, mind fixing up the chilli? I don't think it's hot enough" 'Alaric' uttered a smile on his face.
"Surprised you're not the one who's cooking." Jenna chuckled
"Ah yes your food is to die for right?"
Lily's jaw clenched as she handed her half-drunk wine to the human and headed round the corner. She pinched her lips together. "Some might say." She murmured, the red head knew that this situation was precarious, one rogue word from 'Alaric' could rip Jenna's world apart. So she was stuck playing nice, as was Stefan, since neither vampire knew what the Original was up to.
"I don't like my food too hot." Lily mumbled and started to throw some things into the pot,
"Oops-" 'Alaric' chuckled as he 'accidentally' brushed pass the whole expanse of Lily's back. She stiffened as did Stefan when the disguised Original picked up a knife and started to chop. Every time he lifted his arm to chop, it brushed against Lily.
Jenna stood there…she knew there was something off, never once she saw Alaric acting this way, and certainly she'd never see Lily being so closed off and tensed.
"You know I find chopping calming." The possessed hunter drawled, Lily watched him out from the corner of her eye. "The feel of the blade in the hand maybe." He chuckled.
Jenna shook her head getting pissed off. They were hiding something once again. "I'm still waiting for someone to tell me what the hell is going on."
Lily kept stirring…her mind was thinking…thinking what the hell should they do? "Well would you like to tell her Stefan or shall I-"there was a tense moment of silence, Lily hissed under her breath, when she burnt her hand.
"Oh my gosh-"Jenna gasped "I'll get the first aid-"
"It's fine-"Lily exclaimed looking down at her blistered wrist.
"Just some cold water will do-"she gritted her teeth when the Original gently grabbed her hand and forced her towards the sink. Holding her limb under the rushing cold water. "Let go-"she scowled,
"Keep it there love, don't want your bestie to know you've got very fast healing-"he whispered into her ear, his warm breath fanning across it. "Now where was I?" he said, and finally let the red head up, she caught the cloth Stefan threw at her and wiped her hands, making sure her sleeves covered her burnt wrist.
The youngest Salvatore was getting more and more worried, not just for Jenna but also Lily. "Oh right I was going to tell you something-"'Alaric' beamed…Lily and Stefan both locked eyes with one another, one thought running rampant in both their minds.
"Tell me what." Jenna demanded
'Alaric' canted his head to the side and eyed the strawberry blond haired woman. "Do you believe in vampires Jenna?" none of the vampires missed the baffled look on her face. "No? Well who does right?" he chuckled.
Lily pressed her lips together; she and Stefan were trying their hardest to keep their cool. "But believe it or not, they do have a place in our history." He said casually.
Lily's eyes darted over to Jenna, and saw that her friend didn't have a clue what was going on. "And as a history teacher I find them fascinating."
"Why are we talking about this?" Jenna asked, her voice quivered, the red head could see that she was beginning to freak out.
"Well you've been angry with me for keeping secrets-"he stated, Stefan was stiff as a board "and this is one of my secrets, I'm obsessed with vampires." He declared. "There I said it." he let out a laugh and moved to the sink,
"Are you joking? He is joking right?" Jenna looked at Lily who immediately busied herself with the chilli, and chucked the chopped vegetables into the pot.
"Not at all." He called out, and then 'Alaric' looked at Lily. "How about you Lily? Do believe in vampires…?"
Lily cleared her throat "I think anything is possible…but I prefer books." She said turning the heat down and passed the messy chopping over to 'Alaric'.
"Right, English teacher huh fan of the literature right?" the hunter then eyed Stefan, who looked quiet stunned…the youngest was slightly in awe seeing the way Lily and Klaus seem to dance around each other. "And what about you Stefan?"
Stefan swallowed; he like Lily was on high alert, if things were to get messy they would both make sure that Jenna was far away.
"Literature, Lily got us to read Bram Stoker novel, Dracula." He replied staring at the other man straight in the eye. "It's dense but I appreciate it." Stefan moved forward.
'Alaric' leant back against the counter "Did you know that vampires are the oldest creatures of the night?" he asked, "I mean apart from the werewolves." He chuckled.
"Werewolves?" Jenna nodded in disbelief; Lily turned the stove off seeing that the chilli was done. "Now I know you're joking."
"You know I read that there was an Aztec curse?" he called out.
Lily shot the Original a look, silently telling him to shut up. She could see that Jenna was now getting even more upset. "It was on both species." The history teacher went on, "The werewolves were the slaves to the moon, and the vampires bound by the sun. Isn't that right Stefan? Lily? And that they would do anything to break it? kill anyone…." He then clapped his hands "Now who is ready for some grub?" the possessed man swept pass Lily and grabbing the chilli pot by the handles.
"Lily-"Jenna whispered "What is wrong with him?" she grabbed the red head by the arm.
Lily looked at her, quiet unsure what to say. "He's having a very bad day….chilli?" she faked smiled and mentally slapped herself. She was always a rubbish liar when it came to caring for people. It was a miracle that she was able to keep what she was a secret in the first place. And Lily had the feeling it was going to bite her on the arse.
"Hmm this is good huh?...you're a lovely cook Lily." 'Alaric' smirked sitting across from her. Lily smiled tightly this had to be one of the most uncomfortable and awkward dinners the red head had to date. Stefan barely said a word, Jenna just stared glumly at her plate…and Lily was forced to conversed with the Original.
"Thanks. I'm a dab hand in the kitchen." She cleared her plate.
'Alaric' nodded "Well-"he went back to the discussion they were having before "I know this all sounds crazy but vampires are real." He smirked widely.
Lily's eyes dropped to her empty plate…this certainly wasn't the way she wanted Jenna to find out, the woman was already freaked out enough with the way the history teacher was acting.
"Huh, Lily your glass is empty…now we can't have that can we. I'll get some more wine." The possessed hunter jumped onto his feet.
Lily's head jerked in Jenna's direction, when the human dropped her fork causing it to clatter on the table. "Get out." Jenna hissed.
The red head and Stefan both stiffened, as a dark look crossed the history teacher's face. "Excuse me?" he heard the woman perfectly.
Jenna shook her head "Look I don't know what you're doing, or why you're saying these things. But get out-"
"Jenna-"
"But I said get out." she snapped, clearly upset.
Stefan stood up, as Lily also slowly got to her feet. "The fun is over now." The Petrova vampire uttered "You should leave."
"You heard them." Stefan said coming up beside 'Alaric'
"I'm afraid I don't want to." He sneered at the young vampire.
"Well then I'll leave. I'm going to yours Lils-"Jenna jumped onto her feet and threw her napkin out.
"You're not going anywhere." 'Alaric' grabbed the knife, but Lily was just as fast and blurred forward shoving Jenna back.
"Don't you fucking dare." The red head growled. Stepping in front of Jenna, causing 'Alaric' to falter.
"Lil-"Jenna gasped in shock, and cried out in alarm when Stefan like Lily used his enhanced speed and threw him into the wall, holding him at knife point. "Stefan don't-"she shouted.
"Get out of here Jenna-"Stefan ordered,
"No-"
"Leave Jenna." Lily snapped shoving her forward she pulled out her keys "Go take my car." She ordered.
"What-what is going on?" Jenna said hysterically. And cringed when Stefan dug the blade into 'Alaric's' neck.
"I may not have a witch protecting me today, but If you kill this body I'll just use Jenna-"
"Stefan, Lily-"
"Go. NOW.!" Lily snarled,
"I SAID GO-"Stefan flashed his fangs, causing Jenna to jump and much to both of their relief she sprinted out of the house.
"Kill me; just remind Elena how easy it would be for me to get my revenge if she tries to stop me breaking the curse." He chuckled. Lily felt a sense of uneasiness sweeping through her when Stefan slammed his fist into 'Alaric's' face, making him drop to the ground, and then kicked him twice.
Lily blurred forward and grabbed Stefan by the arm pulling him off. "This is Alaric's body" she snapped "You're going to do some serious damage-"she pushed him towards the door "Go and find Jenna." She commanded, Stefan sent a dirty look towards the fallen hunter and zoomed off.
Lily looked down at 'Alaric' or Klaus, that was still weird, and winced "I am going to regret this." she muttered and dropped to her knees, she lifted his head up.
"Lillian-"he groaned.
"Shut up please." Lily bit into her wrist and pressed it against his lips, she clenched her hand so it formed into a fist when he sucked on the self-inflicted wound. Klaus…she decided to call him that. Clearly their Alaric wasn't all there. "That's enough." She pulled her wrist away.
"You taste so good." He smirked up at her.
Lily frowned "I didn't do it for you. I don't want this body damaged you arsehole." She sniped as he sat up, but he didn't let go of her wrist.
"Sure you did my sweet Lillian." He smirked but then it dropped. "You put yourself in front of the human when I threatened her. That was foolish." She was surprised to hear the slight scolding in his tone.
"It is none of your business what I do or do not do." Lily growled,
He clenched his jaw, "I can't wait to get out of this body then we can discuss whether-"he was cut off when, Lily grabbed him by the throat.
"We are not discussing anything. Show yourself out dear." Lily stood up.
"Bloody hell I love it when you take charge." He winked; she smiled and kicked him hard in the shin, before disappearing through the door with her enhanced speed.
Lily stepped into the Boarding House, and her heightened hearing immediately picked up the sound of an erratic heart beating. She followed the noise down the hall and saw that it led to the parlour; Stefan was pacing in front of the door.
"Did you speak to her?" she asked softly.
The youngest vampire shook his head "No…I'm trying to get through to Elena, she's just crying a lot." Stefan said worriedly.
Lily nodded and took a deep breath as she entered the parlour. She saw Jenna was on the couch rocking herself and muttering under her breath.
"Jenna-"she called,
"No-"Jenna burst out "What-what are you?" she shouted.
"Listen you need to calm down-"Lily raised her hands in attempt to show her friend that she means no harm. "What-"
"I said no-you-what the hell are you? this can't be happening-"she cried.
Lily swallowed painfully and blew out some air. "I am a vampire." She answered "But-"
"No you-it's not true-why did-"Jenna held her head in her hands "I-where's Elena? Oh my god does she know about Stefan? Did he hurt-"
"No-"Lily said "She's safe I promise-"
"And why should I believe you?" she shrieked backing further away when the red head took another step forward. "You-I don't know who you are.-"a pang went through the vampire's un-beating heart when she said that "I want Elena."
Lily kept her face carefully blanked and nodded "Fine, if that is what you want." She turned on her heel and gripped the door knob. "I am sorry Jenna. I-your my friend still regardless what you think…a true friend." Without another word she left.
Jenna stilled and swallowed….vampires? They were real? Her best friend was one? god she spent a couple of years with a murderer…but then again, she meaning Lily stood in front of a blade for her…protected her. This was all just such a mess.
Meanwhile Lily was walking towards the front door; she just reached when Stefan appeared in front of her. "I can't get through-"
"I'll get Elena. Just make sure she stays in there." Lily nodded towards the parlour. And the blurred off to get the doppelganger, hoping she would be able to calm her aunt down.
Lily stopped short behind Elijah, and saw Elena's eyes widened, making the Original instantly to turn around.
"Lily-"
"Klaus went after Jenna, she knows about vampires. Go to her." the red head cut off the Original.
Elena gasped "What? Is she-"
"She is shaken to the core. You are needed Elena." she added.
Elena looked at Elijah "I have to go-I-you have my word I will come back." The teen told the stern looking Original.
"Your word doesn't mean much if you don't live up to it." Elijah drawled, Elena nodded
"Lily-"
"She doesn't want to see me. You should go." Lily murmured and watched as her descendent jogged off. Leaving her behind with Elijah. "Well I should go too." She turned on her heel but immediately slammed into the Original when he appeared in front of her.
"Lily we need to talk." He said.
"I have nothing to say to you." he growled and grabbed her wrist to stop her from running off.
"Well I have several things I wish to say to you…please just hear me out?"
Lily flayed under his gaze, seeing how sincere his expression was. After a minute she nodded, and he led her towards the small bridge that the Lockwoods have.
They walked in silence, the cool breeze was doing wonders to her flushed and clammy skin. This whole Jenna and Klaus ordeal was getting to her.
The pair of vampires came to a stop on the bridge; Elijah's eyes darted over to Lily seeing the small serene smile on her face when she saw some birds flying past.
"You love being outdoors, that hasn't changed." Elijah murmured. Her face froze "I owe you an apology. I am truly sorry for the wrongs I've done you Lillian. It was not my intention to hurt you-"
"But you did-"she said quietly, turning to face him. "You did, you played with my head. I've known you for practically my whole existence…and we were-you return and lie again?" she uttered.
Elijah swallowed and picked up the twig breaking it apart. "Things got out of hand Lillian…you built a life here for yourself, I couldn't come and shatter that-"
"So you just lied again." She spat. "We were lovers, I was in love with you-"Lily said loudly, her eyes watered "And-I must mean so little to you since you keep tossing me aside-"
"It was for your protection Lillian I swear-"he grabbed Lily by her upper arms. "I did not mean to hurt you-"before anything else could be said, they both picked up the sound of Elena returning. She pushed him off. "We need to talk-"
"We're done." Lily cut him off and stormed towards the manor. "You can walk away, so can I."
Lily returned to the Boarding House, where she was greeting by an angry Damon. "What the hell are you doing here? You're meant to be with Elena-"he snapped.
Lily snarled under her breath and grabbed Damon by his throat and slammed him to the wall. "I really had a shitty day." She growled at him, her eyes bled red and the veins around it protruded. "I seriously do not need a jumped up little vampire barking orders at me." Damon groaned in pain, shit…she was always crushing his windpipe.
"Stef-Stefan-"he choked out; sure enough his brother rounded the corner, and merely cocked an eyebrow watching the scene.
"-I am not Elena's guard-dog unlike you. So kindly fuck off Damon." Lily squeezed and threw him to the frowned stalking pass an amused looking Stefan. When she disappeared around the corner the youngest Salvatore laughed.
"I seriously do not get enough of you getting your ass handed to you by Lily." He chuckled.
Damon flipped him his middle finger "Yeah thanks for your help."
"Pfft I'm not stupid enough to get on her bad side." Stefan shrugged his shoulders.
Meanwhile on the other side of the Boarding House, Lily was standing in front of the closed door of the parlour. She took another deep breath…she was scared there was no denying that. But she knew she couldn't put this off for long and opened the door. And saw that Jenna was now sitting much more calmly. She gently shut the door behind not to startle the woman.
"Jenna?" Lily said softly, causing the strawberry blond haired woman to jerk herself back to reality.
"Lily-I-"she choked out, tears brimming from her eyes. The vampire sat down on the edge of the table so she was opposite her. "I'm-did you know Miranda told me all these stories when I was little about vampires…I never thought they would be real." She exclaimed.
"I'm sorry-you shouldn't be going through this." Lily licked her lips leaning forward.
Jenna sniffed "I-everyone lied to me…why didn't you tell me about this? I thought-"
"Because it was Elena's choice not to tell you. And I was stupid enough to believe that…that was ok. When it wasn't…I wronged you Jenna," she said mournfully. Jenna could see that she was truly sorry about this. "I-they wanted to protect you-"Lily was reminded of Elijah…he kept his secrets to keep her safe? Protected? That's the exact same thing she did…..but that situation was far more complicated.
"Why didn't you tell me? You're meant to be my friend." Jenna snapped.
Lily played with her daylight ring. "Because you're my friend…that's why I didn't tell you." she felt her own eyes becoming teary. "I…I am a vampire Jenna…we-humans lives are so short….friends are hard to come by. If I told you I was scared that I would lose you….with you I wasn't alone-"Jenna looked at her in surprise, causing a sad chuckle to come from the vampire. "I know it's so human of me isn't it?" she asked. "We shouldn't feel, we're monsters-"
"You're not a monster-"Jenna barked. "You're not…you're like my sister Lily…despite you having fangs…"the red head's lips twitched into a miniscule smile. Jenna felt another sob bubble from her throat. "I'm scared Lily." She said.
Lily shifted so that she was sitting beside her, her arms came around Jenna. "I know, but-"she cupped Jenna's face "I promise I will protect. Nothing will happen." Jenna buried her face into the crook of Lily's neck and cried. "We're family after all." She soothed her, and comforted Jenna.
Lily drank the glass of blood, Jenna was going to be staying at the Boarding House as of now as was the rest of the Gilbert. Elena attempted to get the red head to stay but she refused, Lily wanted some time on her own…she needed some time on her own.
She was gazing at the packed bags that were by the door, and her ears perked up hearing footsteps coming up the driveway.
She stood up and headed towards the door. "Lily-"Elijah greeted her,
"Your bags are there, you can go." Lily said.
The Original frowned "Lillian don't be rash I know you're mad-"
"Don't you dare. You are nothing but a liar-"
"Same could be said for you." he barked, causing her to freeze "Isn't that what you did to Jenna I thought she was you friend-"SLAP.
Lily's chest heave and her hand stung, his head snapped to the side they were still by the door, as Lily used her enhanced speed to appear in front of him, "Ok I deserve that. I hurt you-just listen-"
"I did listen-I did." Lily voice cracked with a sob, "I did…but you say you're protecting me….that-that doesn't work. I got my memories back Elijah-"she said tears travelled down her face. "And you know what I found? You never came back. When we met, it was by accident or fate whichever way you look at it." she pushed him out the door picking up the bags. "You didn't come back for me. So you're right…I am not yours." She declared, Elijah's face spasm in pain "You-just go and leave me Elijah. There's a hotel on the edge of town a room is in your name. "she wiped her face furious with herself for letting her emotions get the better of her.
"I love-"
"Loved in the past tense. You're part of an old forgotten life, which you easily brushed aside." Lily emotions were heightened and she felt even more of an emotional mess. "Please go. When I return I do not wish for you to be here….perhaps one day we can be friends, but that is far off." Elijah watched as Lily blurred off. His eyes only caught sight of her red hair.
Lily came to a stop in the alley behind the Grill. Her whole body was trembling, with rage, hurt, anger and betrayal a very bad combination for a vampire. She leant her head against the cold brick wall and inhaled, her senses picked up the aroma of blood, and the steady beating of humans' blood.
"Lily? That is you-so I owe you a drink huh?" Mark grinned, he was just about to leave when he caught a figure in the hallway, and immediately recognised it as the English teacher when he saw her red hair.
"You do." She said, eyeing him. Mark didn't even managed to scream when she zoomed towards him, Lily wasn't thinking, she was just so tired of that…no she wanted to just do something reckless, so with that thought in mind, she plunged her fangs in his throat. Mark's screamed was cut off when she pressed her palm against his mouth, and pressed her body against him. Lily sucked and slurped down his life-force as she drank.
"Lily….please-"he whimpered falling limp. She came back to herself and cursed realising what she had done. She gave him some blood, and caught his eye with her. "Forget what happened…go home and leave your wife…find someone who makes you happy that is what you deserve." She compelled him and as soon as he left, Lily collapsed onto the floor, she wiped her face but only smeared the blood.
Lily felt the life she created was somehow being completely undone. She inhaled the fresh night air and didn't bat an eyelid as her tears mixed with the blood, she simply stared up at the night sky, taking in the stars and the moon.
