Hey guys. Got a new chapter up for you. Just so you know, this chapter will be the last one with Jaden at the age of 7. It's a short chapter but I hope you enjoy it.

Chapter 9:

Training Begins

That day turned out to be the very first time Jaden would raise his sword in order to attack and defend himself. Straight after breakfast, he and the rest of the Hermes cabin headed into the arena where Percy Jackson waited, his sword in hand. The son of Poseidon was the best swordsman in the camp… and the sight of him with his sword in hand scared Jaden. Not to mention the sleeping hellhounds behind the young man were also concerning Jaden.

" Welcome, Jaden, to sword-fighting." An older daughter of Hermes said with a serious look on her face.

" Are we all here?" Percy asked. " Good. Let's get started."

To say the lesson was easy would be a complete and total lie. Jaden was teamed against an older daughter of Hermes by the name of Zyanya Sharp. And, after the first ten times of being knocked to the ground and pronounced 'dead' (which, by the way, happened within the first ten minutes), he began to wonder if she didn't like little kids.

Eventually, Jaden managed to use his sword, Erinyz, to deflect the attacks that Zyanya was throwing at him. Unfortunately, he was still getting knocked down. It was almost beginning to bore him, getting knocked down all the time. Even when the teams were told to switch and Zyanya traded places with Benjamin Sharwood, Jaden couldn't stop his knock down streak. Of course, things had to change.

" Some son of Kronos you are, you can't even lift a sword properly let along fight." Ben taunted after his fifteenth victory. " What the Hades was I afraid of? My pet salamander could have probably beaten you."

" Benjamin, that's enough." Both Griffin and Percy growled at the same time.

" You're just a worthless piece of trash. You're wasting my time." Ben continued, ignoring the older boys.

" No I'm not!" Jaden roared.

The next thing the others knew was that Jaden's eyes had flashed gold and the boy had disappeared. At that point, Ben began worrying. If Griffin was right and Jaden was the son of Luke Castellan, that meant that the boy also had Hermes blood in him. And most children of Hermes were extremely fast runners. But the next thing he heard was a growl from the larger of the two hellhounds and felt the sting of a fresh wound on his leg. In an instant, he was on the ground with blood trickling down the side of his leg and Jaden's sword resting on his shoulder.

" How the…?" He swallowed.

" I am not worthless." Jaden growled from behind him.

" Okay, guys. I think that's enough for today." Percy decided after a few minutes of intense silence.

" I agree. Ben, apologise and get up to the infirmary. Jaden, relax. No one here means to hurt you." Griffin added.

" Are you sure about that, Grif?" Ryan asked quietly.

" Not helping."

At that moment, the conch horn was blown to signal next class. With a sigh, Griffin called the Hermes cabin into line and led them over to where their next class was being held.

The rest of the day went by quietly for Jaden. Halfway through strawberry picking (which he found out was after sword practice), he had fallen asleep. Some boy from the Demeter cabin had found him and had to call Griffin, who ended up taking him back to the Hermes Cabin. It was there that he had woken up, in his bed, about five minutes before lunch was due to start.

During lunch, Jaden discovered that he had missed out on his first Ancient Greek lesson. He also found out that using his time abilities were a lot more strenuous than first thought. It was because he had paused time and ran behind Ben in the Arena that he was so tired. Ben, who had gotten out of the infirmary during Ancient Greek, was sitting opposite him and glaring daggers at him. But he took no notice and continued to eat his meal slowly.

Archery also wasn't one of his best 'subject's. He was that unfocussed that he kept on missing every target and, at one point, nearly pinned Ryan's remaining hand to the tree behind the boy. Needless to say that Ryan didn't look too happy after that. It was that near accident that got Chiron thinking that he would be better off if he was in the younger class. No one had ever seen a kid so determined in their lives.

The younger class was, to put it simply, a slightly easier version of the older kids' classes. Chiron had put it in place after he noticed the amount of children under the age of ten that were coming across the border. It also meant that the younger demigods couldn't go on quests unless they absolutely had to and unless they were accompanied by two older and more experienced demigods, usually over the age of twelve.

The very next day, Jaden was dragged away, kicking and screaming, by Griffin and Lee Harvey-King (one of the older demigods in charge of the younger class). His destination: the younger class.
