She couldn't believe what she was hearing, the man she loved had done the one thing he swore he'd never do; Haley backed out of the spare bedroom as Rome reached for her and then hurried down the hall to the master bedroom shutting and locking the door behind her. The Texas native leaned against the door trying desperately to make sense out of all this. He had been so distant lately and they hadn't slept in the same bed for at least a week.
"Baby girl" he called out from the other side of the door.
"Just go alright. I'm obviously not enough for you anymore so just...go" Haley told him.
"We can work through this" he offered, his large hand resting on the doorknob as his forehead rest against the door.
She shook her head even though she knew he couldn't see it. "I don't think we can. You promised me you'd never hurt me Rome; you knew how much I'd been hurt in the past and you swore you'd never put me through that.."
"I know. I know. I can't even begin to explain why I did it, I just... It doesn't even matter" he sighed.
The front door opened and he knew Colby had returned from his morning work out; he climbed the stairs and found Rome leaning against the door. Something was going on and he had a bad feeling about it.
"What's going on here" Colby asked, approaching the door.
"Nothing that concerns you" Rome stated gruffly. "Haley please..just let me in"
"Go away Rome. I can't even look at you right now" she replies softly.
"What did you do" Colby asked, spinning him around to look at him.
"I just said it doesn't concern you Colby" Rome growled.
"Oh it does concern me when the girl I love has locked herself in the bedroom" Colby shot back, not backing down one second.
Rome smirked. "Your like a little lost puppy around her, its cute. Look man, I can't help that she chose me after you broke her heart the first time"
Colby saw red and with as much strength as he could muster pinned Roman against the wall, his brown eyes dark and angry. "What sucks worse man, knowing that she'll always love me more or that no matter what you do to please her she'll always be thinking of me"
Rome growled again and shoved Colby off him before storming off and slammed the door behind him.
Colby knocked on the door softly. "Angel eyes, its me..open up"
The door unlocked and soon she stood before him, tears rolling down her cheeks as she stared up at him.
"Colby.." she began, he quickly pulled her too him and held her tightly.
"I don't know what he did but I swear Hales, I'll kill him for hurting you. Just tell me what you want me to do and I'll do it" he assured her.
Once her tears began to subside she felt her body become weak and pulled away to go lay on the bed, she got under the blankets and stared off at one of the white walls; Colby got in behind her and pulled her to his chest kissing her damp cheek.
"Just...hold me Colby, that's all I want right now" she spoke softly.
He nodded and did just that. The Shield member silently thought of all the things he wanted to say to his teammate the next time they crossed paths; Haley didn't deserve whatever had happened and he made a vow to himself and her that he would make sure she'd never get hurt like that again.
