They didn't know where to start, not really. In the end, they had decided to give a basic demonstration of their powers. Order was decided by drawing slips of paper with numbers on it.
One of the many rooms in the training area was decided on, as it didn't have any unnecessary obstacles, as far as they could tell, and they didn't expect they'd need too much room for a simple demonstration.
Yona was the first to show off her talents. She did a basic archery set-up: A couple practice targets, none of which moved. All of her arrows hit the mark, but other than that, she had no real skills to show. Except her leadership qualities….or her stubbornness. It could be put either way.
Next in line was Train. He had everyone find anything in the vicinity and throw it so that he could shoot lots of moving targets in a short couldn't even comprehend what he had done, guns weren't exactly common in her world, and his abilities…they were beyond what she could even hope to attain.
Ranma was up next, but Hinata and Ranma both needed a partner to really show their abilities. Because of this even though Hinata had been one of the last ones in line, she went earlier. All they did was simple sparring. Ranma let Hinata hit her once to test her abilities, but it completely disabled Ranma's use of her right arm. After that, Ranma just avoided all of her attacks, but never hit her back.
Morgiana only took a minute. She found an area with two columns fairly close to each other for her placement. After analyzing them, she jumped up, using the pillars to jump on, and smashed the top of one of the columns with one of her bare legs. After she displayed her eerie strength, everyone decided it was best not to mess with her.
Yusuke, the bratty boy in the green outfit was next. The normally uncooperative Yusuke was clearly eager to display his talents.
He strode into the middle of the room. "I doubt any of you will actually see my power, but whatever." The cocky boy then put his hands together to form the shape of a gun. Everyone was surprised by the blue light gathering at his fingertips. "SPIRIT GUN!" When he released the light, it slammed against the wall, creating a new entrance into the next room.
Many of the people were now speechless, stunned by the events. Even those who weren't as surprised felt at least mildly interested by such unusual powers.
He turned and looked at them with one of his characteristic cocky grins. "What? I only used 10% of my power."
Edward was the next to step forward. "Haha, I guess it's my turn… it's gonna be harder than I thought to hold up to the last display though." Yusuke quickly developed a smirk, so Edward couldn't help but push his buttons. "Buuuut, not that hard." Looking around, Ed tried to think of something to do. "I guess I'll try something useful so we don't keep destroying the room." Walking a little further into the room, he clapped his hands and unceremoniously placed them against the ground. Thick, grey pillars, identical to the rest in the room slowly rose out of the ground. "Now we can use these as targets. The floor might be a little thinner…but that doesn't really matter, right?"
Ed was about to explain his abilities when Rahzel interrupted. "My turn!" Then, with more excitement than was necessary, she punched through part of the pillar with her bare hands. "Finally~ I was waiting so~ long." No one expected such a small, self-proclaimed 'sorceress' to pack such a punch.
"What kind of magic was that?" Lina, the other self-proclaimed sorceress inquired.
Finger to her chin, Rahzel tried to think of the best way to explain it. "I guess…it's sorta like reinforcement? I use magic to strengthen a specific body part, in this case, my fist and arm."
It was getting harder to feel surprised, but it was hard not to feel at least a little impressed.
"Well, it's my turn to show you my magic." Lina approached one of the 4 pillars created by Ed.
"But-" Rahzel began protesting. Lina was obviously getting impatient, and Rahzel was willing to let her go, even though she'd only meant the punch to be a warm up. She desperately wanted to see her abilities.
"Dragon slave is probably too much…" She pointed a finger at one of the columns and shouted. "Fireball!" Everyone watched as the burning mass easily took out the pillar. By now, practically no one was surprised, or even that impressed. Lina noticed this, and continued. "Hey, don't look so disappointed. Anything much stronger and this place would collapse." They all sent her doubtful looks. "Ugh, whatever. You'll all see how amazing I am soon enough."
Then they waited. But no one offered themselves up as next in line. "Finally, can we move on now? Ugh." Yusuke thought that everyone had taken their turns, but he was the only one who wasn't aware that one more person needed to go.
Yona's eyebrows crinkled in thought." The other one…who was it…?"
Ed was the first to give a reminder. "It was Allen, the white-haired one who didn't look very capable. Where the hell'd he go? He was here just a minute ago."
They all began to look around. The first indication that someone had found him was a furious shout.
"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING? THAT'S MINE!" The female voice echoed far enough for everyone to hear, so they all went to the origin.
"What...I, I was just...hung-"Allen's voice was cut off by the beginning of a chant coming from the still enraged Lina.
They all just watched as power began to build up around her. "Darkness Beyond Twilight, Crimson Beyond Blood that Flows," Her arms were making unusual movements at this point, "Buried in the Stream of Time is where your Power Flows." By now, everyone had backed away. Far away. Except for the cornered Allen. "I Pledge Myself to Conquer, All the Foes Who Stand, Before the Mighty Gift Bestowed in my Unworthy Hand. DRAGON SLAVE!"
Rahzel knew more clearly than the rest how powerful the spell would be due to the amount of energy gathered around Lina. Everyone had noticed it to some degree, but as someone who could call herself a sorceress as well, it was more obvious to her. "He's so dead."
Everyone looked at Rahzel just as the explosion went off.
Lina just stood there looking dazed, so they slowly entered the room to see what was going on, the explosion wasn't nearly as big as they had expected. When they could see what had happened, they were all shocked. Allen was protected by a giant...arm? Clearly it had absorbed most of the damage. "Owww, that hurt. You almost broke my arm! Do you know how hard it is to fix!?" Allen's eyes widened in exaggerated fear. "And...painful..."
Everyone sat stunned for a while, then Yona cleared her throat. "Ha...ha...well, why don't we decide partners." Before she could say anything else, half of them were pointing fingers and refusing to work with him or her. "Wait, okay? I was thinking of doing this in a bit more fair of a manner. Why don't we draw straws? Matching straws are partners."
They looked at each other, then back at her. Then they gave her idea assent with nods or words of agreement. A few quiet ones didn't really give an opinion. Regardless, it didn't receive enough disapproval to fail, so they drew straws.
