Author Note; I want to apologize for some things that aren't consistent. I feel like my writing is a little different since I was writing in June but I hope you can still enjoy it.
Third POV
Jasper and Avira spent nearly a month, alone in the cabin with no visitors. They both felt it was important to at the very least let the bond form. It wouldn't be complete until they mated, but it would be there and that's what mattered.
Avira was still weary of hunting with Jasper, at least until he killed a mountain lion for her. She felt honored by the act and she felt a shiver of embarrassment as he offered her the fresh corpse.
"I can't accept it." He smiled, it was brief but it made her shudder.
"And why not?"
"You killed it, you eat it." Her argument was weak and they both knew it. His raised eyebrow and light smirk was proof of that.
"I killed it for you. You haven't been feeding much and it would make me down right giddy if you fed off this lion."
Avira sensed he was telling the truth, and she also knew he was right. Her appetite was instinctual, a need; not a want as of late. She knew it had plenty to do with her emotional state, and Jasper knew it too, despite his silent observance of the matter.
"But I'm not..." She halted her sentence as Jasper's eyes flared, he was both upset and amused by her lie.
"Did you really just lie to an empath?"
Biting at her lower lip, Avira glanced away from his bright gaze, a small dose of shame coming over her.
"I don't want to eat." Truth.
"Do this for me, Avira, just this one thing." It wasn't a plea and it wasn't an order; he left room for her to argue; but in the end, she couldn't.
She knelt down beside the lion, Jasper carefully laid the animal in her arms; it was still a bit warm. He moved behind her, silently scooping her hair away from her face and mouth.
Jasper was intimately close to her, an arm slipped around her waist as her fangs punctured the main artery and began to feed.
It took Avira a few moments to drink the blood; and within those moments Jasper had pressed his chest to her back and held her body to himself.
"I love you." Avira breathed the words softly, the fresh scent of blood hitting Jaspers senses.
"I love you, too." And with his words he bathed Avira in his love and pride and all the joy he had from her feeding. It was such a simple thing, but it really did make Jazz happy and if he was happy, so was she.
Jasper had insisted upon burying the corpse since he caught it and afterwards he and Avira went to the cabin. They both showered and dressed; sitting in the homey livingroom. Neither were really watching the TV, they were snuggled up close and held each other firmly.
A few hours into the night, Avira asked to be sent to sleep and so Jasper complied. Some movie was on, but he was listening outside; ensuring his mate was safe.
Jasper felt as though the bond was forming more quickly on his part, or perhaps Avira was hiding her emotions better than he suspected. Those kinds of thoughts stayed with him as he held Avira, his fingers petting her skull.
Spending time away was good, but Jasper felt the need to check on his family so he turned on his phone to find five texts; all from Nessie saying how much she missed her Uncle and wanted him home and two missed calls. Both from Peter whom was no doubt checking on the pair.
Jasper considered calling Peter and Char, and maybe even Carlisle to ensure everyone was safe, but he concluded if he was really needed; Peter would come inform them personally.
