*Authors note* Sorry it's taken me so damn long to update this story! I've started a few more, which is typical me. Starting a new story before I'm even close to finishing my first 5. Anyways, I screwed my leg up pretty bad so I'll have LOTS of time to update all of my stories! :) I appreciate the reviews too! Anyways, here's chapter 2!
Chapter 2
Beth POV
When I woke up it was around 12pm. I couldn't believe I slept that long. I think I had a bit of a hangover because when I woke up I had a pretty terrible headache. When I headed downstairs my father looked up from his book and greeted me with a smile. "Good morning sleepyhead." He said softly. "Good morning daddy." I replied quietly. "Long night last night?" He inquired. "Yeah, I couldn't seem to get to sleep." I mumbled. Daddy just nodded and turned his attention back to his book. After eating some breakfast I felt fine, thank goodness. I decided to go help Patricia with the chickens. We worked in a comfortable silence. While I was helping her my thoughts kept drifting back to last night. I still can't believe I kissed Daryl. Especially since I'm still with Jimmy. Oh no, Jimmy! How could I be so horrible? Should I tell him? No, I can't. If I tell him he'll surely tell daddy, then daddy will make Rick and his group leave. I can't do that to them. Before my thoughts could go on any further there was a lot of commotion coming from Ricks group, then a gunshot. Without thinking I ran over to their RV to see what the problem was. It looked like Andrea shot a walker, but judging from Rick and Glenns reactions it wasn't a walker. As they brought the thing closer I realized that was a man. That was Daryl.
As soon as I realized who it was I ran over and began helping the men carry Daryl in. He might have been a jerk towards the end of last night, but he just got shot! I need to help him! "We need to.. we need to take him inside to daddy." I managed to get out. A wave of panic rushed over me. I knew that there wasn't much I could do, but surely daddy would know how to help Daryl. At least I hope he does. Once we got him inside Rick thanked me for helping and then we turned our attention to my daddy. "Daddy, we have to help him!" I exclaimed boldly. Everyone was taken aback by my sudden outburst. I guess Daryl wasn't the only one who thought of me as some quiet goody two shoes. Daddy gave me a strange look, but then began to speak. "Alright take him into the spare bedroom where Carl was staying." Daddy instructed the men, they did as he asked without hesitation. Then daddy turned his attention to me. "Bethy, go grab my medical kit please." He said calmly before heading into the spare bedroom himself. I ran into the living room then took it into the spare bedroom and handed it to daddy. "Thank you sweetie." Daddy said softly. I nodded then headed towards the door. I lingered at the door for a few minutes. Once I saw that daddy began working on Daryl I headed outside to clear my head.
Once I got outside I noticed Jimmy. Oh God, Jimmy. I kissed Daryl last night and he doesn't even know! Should I end things with him? I mean, I don't love him that way. Plus if I kissed another guy we're obviously not right for each other, right? Right. I nervously walked up to him and gave him a small smile. "Hi Jimmy." I said timidly. How am I going to do this? Oh boy. He returned the smile and said hi back. "What's going on?" He asked quietly as he moved his head in the direction of the house. "Daryl was shot." I mumbled. "Shot?!" Jimmy exclaimed. I just nodded my head. "Um, Jimmy? There's something I gotta tell you.." I began. Jimmy looked at me and gently placed his hand on my shoulder. "Sure, you can tell me anything, Beth." Jimmy said politely. Great, he's just making it even harder. "I um, I don't think we should keep going out." I mumbled quietly. At this point I was looking at my feet, but when I dared to look up Jimmy had a shocked look on his face. He wordlessly nodded and walked away. So that's it. Jimmy and I aren't together anymore. I'll tell Maggie later. For now I'm gonna go help Patricia with some laundry.
A few hours later.
I decided to go check on Daryl. I brought a pillow with me so it would look like I have reason to be there. I figured he'd still be asleep anyways. Once I got to the guest room I noticed he wasn't asleep, but I think he already saw me so I couldn't just turn around and leave. When I walked in he pulled the blanket up over his bare chest a little bit, but didn't acknowledge my presence otherwise. I carefully walked up to his bedside and muttered something about bringing him an extra pillow. He nodded and reached out to take it. "No, let me." I said softly. He nodded and sat up. I carefully placed the pillow on the bed then turned to leave. "Thanks Beth." I heard him mumble. I didn't respond, instead I just continued walking to the door. Just as I got to the door I turned around and mumbled "I'm sorry for last night." Once I said that I hurried out of the room, not waiting to see what his reaction would be.
Daryl POV
Beth had just left. Before she left she mumbled something that sounded like "I'm sorry for last night." I wanted to stop her from leavin', but I'd probably just fuck up and hurt her even more. I mean she's just a teenage girl and I'm a grown ass man. None of this shit was her fault. I didn't mean to hurt her last night. I just needed her to know that it couldn't happen again. I guess the only way I coulda gotten it through her head was by bein' mean, but I still feel like an asshole. Besides, a girl like that shouldn't have anything to do with a guy like me. She has Jimmy anyways. He's probably a lot better for her. I should probably try to get some sleep, then go back to looking for Sophia tomorrow.
