Nine year old Rapunzel was very confused. Her Mother told her time, and time again why she shouldn't cut her magical hair. Although, Rapunzel didn't like how her hair kept her from seeing the floating lights, or were they stars? After Mother had left the tower Rapunzel ran up to her room with some scissors in hand.
"Pascal! Where are you?" Rapunzel shouted.
"Squib!" Pascal was in Rapunzel's bookshelf.
Rapunzel laughed, "Guess what?!"
Pascal thought for a moment and poked his tail towards the small window in her bedroom.
"No, but hopefully very soon!" Rapunzel started to dance around her room, "Pascal, don't tell anyone promise?" Rapunzel held out her pinkie and Pascal held his tail out for her.
"Do you Pascal the Chameleon promise to keep my secret?" Rapunzel held her head high while saying the very, very serious words.
"Squib," Pascal took Rapunzel's pinkie. Rapunzel started to dance around again.
"I'm going to cut my hair!" Rapunzel squealed. Pascal looked at her with horror.
"Squeak!" Pascal turned light red.
"Pascal, I know it's dangerous, but I have to do it!" Rapunzel ran her small fingers though her hair, "it's the only way I can see the floating lights,"
Pascal turned to his normal shade of green and climbed onto Rapunzel's shoulder. She slowly walked out of her room and to the tall mirror in the living room. Rapunzel sat Pascal on the floor out of the scissors way. She looked at herself in the mirror studying her hair. Rapunzel moved her golden hair to the side and revealed the small piece of brown hair. Rapunzel compared her golden hair to the small brown piece.
"They feel the same, but don't look the same," Rapunzel looked at Pascal, "How short should I cut it?"
Pascal looked at her and suggested (by motions) that she should cut it as short as her small brown piece of hair.
"You think so?" Rapunzel tried to imagine herself with short brown hair, "I like that idea too!"
Rapunzel took a deep breath and brought the scissors up to her hair. She slowly opened the sharp scissors and was about to close the scissors on her hair when she heard a scream.
"RAPUNZEL PUT THOSE SCISSORS DOWN!" Mother Gothel screamed franticly.
"Mother, I want to see the floating lights!" Rapunzel shouted.
Mother Gothel came closer to Rapunzel and smacked to scissors out of Rapunzel's hand.
"Did you even listen to me when I told you not to cut your hair?!" Mother Gothel put her hands on each side of Rapunzel's face and looked at her hair, "Did you already start cutting?" Mother Gothel looked at Rapunzel angrily.
"No." Rapunzel finally said in a small voice.
"Good," Mother Gothel's whole composure relaxed, "Rapunzel, do not ever think about cutting your hair again," She said sternly.
Rapunzel's heart sank.
"I just thought-"
"No more discussions about it Rapunzel," Mother Gothel stood up and started to head towards the window, "I will be back tonight, and let's just say this never happened,"
Rapunzel lowered her head to hide the tears streaming down her face, "Yes Mother," she said quietly.
"That's my little flower," Mother Gothel patted the top of Rapunzel's head and climbed back down the tower.
