Chapter 7

It was at dinner, when Akito showed up. I could tell by the way Hatori looked at Shigure it wasn't a good thing that he was there. We had all just walked in to the resturant. Hatori looked at me with a somewhat worried look. Akito, as I had heard Yuki whisper, was more worried about Tohru and went to talk to her. I stood behind Hatori and listened silently.

"Akito, you're supposed to be home, resting." Hatori spoke up. Akito waved him off and kept talking. After he finished his conversation he walked over to Hatori.

"Resting... Yes. I heard you were here and thought I'd come, visit persay. Who is this?" He pointed to me. I gulped and looked at Hatori.

"She's a friend we made, we invited her out to eat." I nodded slightly, hoping this wasn't going to cause problems. Akito only nodded and looked at everyone. He coughed, nodded to everyone goodbye, and left.

Dinner was quiet after that. I sat looking around, my hands clawing at each other from the nerves and tension I was picking up. Hatori glanced at me a few times but never said anything. After dinner, the ride back to the cottage was worse. I bit my lip and looked out the window. The tension wasn't as bad as dinner and soon Kyo and Yuki started talking. Actually, Arguing is a better word for it.

"You dang rat! You hit me!"

"I never touched you stupid cat."

"Now now boys, your setting a poor example for the young ladies in the car." Shigure looked at Kyo and Yuki before glancing at the front of the car. I simply nodded, before moving my gaze elsewhere. I was hating the tension coming from everyone. Momiji seemed completely oblivious to the tension and was happily chatting with Tohru. I sighed. I need to sleep.

When we got home, almost everyone went to bed. I stayed up with Hatori and Shigure. Hatori was reading, Shigure writing, and I was drawing. I kept flinching at every little noise until Hatori turned on the radio. I relaxed after that.

I had fallen asleep on the chair, and woke up the next morning, still in the chair. I woke up before everyone else and decided to take a walk alongside the beach. Why not? Wasn't any harm, right?

While walking, I caught sight of someone standing along the shoreline. I kept walking, hoping they would just ignore me, until I saw their face. I stoped still in my tracks. It was Akito. Did he know? Was he going to hurt me? Momiji told me about what happened to Hatori with his girlfriend. Akito just looked at me before turning away. I looked towards the ocean and sat down. No point in trying to make contact.

Akito was still there when I left, so I made my way around to another cottage, acting like I lived there. Akito followed me part way until he saw me go to the other cottage (which thankfully, no one was in and it was unlocked). After I was sure he left, I walked back to the Sohma cottage. It was going to be a long vacation.
