Thank you so much for all your support!
Hope you will all enjoy this one too.
I will finish this, I'm just the slowest updater in the universe.
(Question from a reviewer: Why did I name Murdock, James? To be honest I don't know. I think I might have read it somewhere in another fanfic of someone who was using that name as an undercover name for Murdock. I really don't know what Murdock's first name is. If you find out let me know!)
Chapter 4
Smoke was curling around in the air of the dark atmosphere. Glad that this hotel room had a balcony, the colonel tapped his cigar on the edge of the railing, making the dark grey ashes twirl down. His smirk was still evident on his face as he thought about the great night he had with Amelia, the tall sexy blond woman.
He had to save some money for B.A. so he could get the ultra deluxe car wash with the wax treatment to thank him. The big guy had generously offered the shared hotel room to him, he accepted it gladly.
Taking another drag he looked at his watch, Bosco would be back soon, luckily he had giving him more than enough time to finish his business.
His smirk widened.
He wondered what Murdock and Face were up to…
"Crazy would you stop leaning on me so much! You'll make me fall over if you continue to walk like this!" Face tried to explain for the third time. Somehow Murdock wasn't able to walk properly or comprehend anything that he was trying to say to him.
Must be the alcohol. Was the only logical explanation the conman could come up with.
That smug Ben bastard must have given him something strong when he wasn't there to look after the chopper pilot. Again that feeling surged through his body, making him growl softly.
Murdock on the other hand wasn't able to think clearly yet. Just when he had discarded the idea of ever being together with the conman, he pulled a stunt like that on him. He honestly didn't know what to think anymore and he was completely lost. He decided that he must ask the conman that himself, right now!
Pushing Face away from him, with more strength than he intended to, he stopped abruptly.
The conman wobbled on his feet as he didn't expected the pilot to push him so hard "Hey what is this all about?!" Face demanded to know.
Murdock looked deeply in thought as he stared a couple of seconds to the ground, his hands balled into fists. Inhaling deeply he finally had to courage to ask him "Peck, why did you kiss me?"
Face tried to act clueless, as if he didn't know what he did wrong "What do you mean? I saved you from that guy who was about to rape you on his boat!" he angrily pointed towards the bar "that's what friends do, and you're welcome!"
Face knew it was a lame point. But he wasn't ready to face all these questions. Because he didn't know what he was feeling.
Kissing his friend was defiantly more enjoyable than he expected. He was taken aback by this, he needed to figure out what the hell is going on with him.
He couldn't be honest with Murdock yet, he didn't want to hurt his best friend.
Murdock slightly frowned, his eyes scanning the facial features of the conman. "S-so that kiss. You didn't feel anything? It was just to save me?" Pronouncing the word save in an overdramatic way, Face knew he was being mocked.
"Fine, I'll just leave you alone next time. See if I care." When facing his emotions, Templeton Peck could be the most stubborn person in the world.
First it was anger but now it was mostly sadness that took over Murdock's feelings. Not wanting to fight with his best mate, Murdock decided to let the subject drop. He could live with the sadness, he couldn't live without his best friend.
"Let's just get back to the hotel." Murdock pleaded softly and started walking ahead.
The rest of the way back was in silence, both thinking about everything that had happened. The conman was trying to explain to himself why he had pulled such a stunt, and why his body started to react to the chopper pilot when he held him in his arms. It was all to protect him he told himself, but even his own explanation didn't sound right any longer… he was starting to doubt his own words.
Entering the hotel Templeton had already stormed into their bedroom and Murdock didn't feel like entering yet. He was walking through the hallway when he saw that the door was open were Bosco and boss man were sleeping. Checking inside he saw the Colonel smoking a cigar on the balcony while he was staring at the sea, Bosco was nowhere to be seen.
Not even turning around the leader of the A-team had already figured out it was Murdock who was approaching "Well well Captain, how was the beach fun?" he asked.
A sad smile appeared on Murdock's features as he walked over to where the Colonel was standing "I-It was ok.."
The oldest man of the group sighed "What did Templeton do now."
Murdock bit his lip, he should have known the Colonel could read his crew like an open book by now. Hesitantly he decided to answer the question "He-He kissed me." He was silent for a second as he recapped his thoughts while his cheeks turned red again just thinking about it "But said it was to protect me from this guy, that it didn't mean a thing." He added in a soft voice.
The Colonel shook his head, and for the first time in the conversation turned his eyes from the sea and looked into his Captain's big eyes. He hated seeing his best pilot so sad, he wanted to take that sadness away from him. This was the umpteenth time Face was hurting Murdock, and it was starting to get on his nerves. "Murdock. I'm about to tell you something very important, but you have to promise me to use this information wisely."
Murdock's eyes widened as his Colonel sounded very serious about this, but he didn't have a clue what he was about to say, so he nodded.
Hannibal still wasn't sure if he should say this, so he warned the pilot one more time "You'll have to be patient, very patient, can you promise me Captain?"
A serious look was on Murdock's face "Yes sir. I promise Colonel." Still not knowing what the hell Hannibal was talking about but he would never disappoint his Colonel.
Making sure nobody else could hear them, Smith pulled Murdock closer to him as he spoke very softly so it was for their ears only "Alright, listen up Captain. I don't want you to freak out but you have to trust me on this when I say so. I might be the only one of us all who sees it, but Templeton isn't overprotective of you. Well he might be a little, but most of all… he is jealous. Very, very jealous, are you getting what I'm saying here Captain?"
Murdock's mouth opened slightly as he listened to his Colonel's words. Templeton is jealous? Jealous over him or jealous over…-
Hannibal saw the aha look on Murdock's face. Looks like the kid understood where he was coming from.
The chopper pilot had to make sure he was right about this though "You mean, he's jealous over other guys, because- because… he likes me?"
A small smile was evident on the Colonel's face "Yes Murdock I can tell that he does. But, you'll have to give him the time to figure this out on his own. You can't force him Captain, do you understand it's hard for a ladies' man like him to admit this to himself?"
Murdock nodded and smiled back at his Colonel, glad he finally knew what Peck was going through. A million different feelings surged through his body as he realized that the Lieutenant was into him. He almost fainted but he held himself strong in front of his Colonel.
"Thanks Colonel, I'm so glad you told me. I understand now."
The Colonel chuckled softly and patted Murdock on the back as the chopper pilot looked at him one more time with appreciation and turned around to walk back to his room.
As he strolled away a much more happier pilot the Colonel stopped him one more time "Oh Murdock just one more thing, go easy on the kid will ya."
The chopper pilot didn't turn around but Hannibal could almost feel his sadistic grin "I can't promise you that Colonel, Sir." And he walked out of the room.
Taking a drag from his forgotten cigar, Smith hoped his guidance would get them closer and not further away from each other. Those two idiots.
You should think that the chopper Pilot couldn't be happier with the news he just heard.
But Murdock was feeling multiple things at the moment.
Relief to finally understand why Peck was behaving so strangely.
Disappointment because Peck couldn't admit to himself that he was attracted to him.
Hopeful that his dream of getting together with his best friend was possible now.
And uneasiness because he knew Peck was into him only he didn't know it himself.
Suddenly a red hue was visible on his cheeks as Murdock realized something. He promised the Colonel not to tell and be patient about it, but he could play along with Face. If the conman was so sure that they were just friends and that he was 100% straight, he could take advantage of this.
He could play a little dirty this time.
Stepping into his shared bedroom with the conman, Peck was already inside and fully in his defensive mode "Listen up Murdock! Stop giving me the silent treatment! I only did it to protect you, because I care about you! That's what best friends do you know!"
Expecting a heated argument Face had jumped up from the bed he was sitting on, ready for a verbal fight with the pilot, but the opposite of what he expected occurred as Murdock walked over to him and hugged him tightly.
"I'm sorry Face, I know you'll only do what is best for me, you would never lie to me. Please forgive me."
The chopper pilot pleaded as he held onto him for dear life.
Surprised by his behavior but glad none the less, Face hugged him back "Hey hey, buddy. Don't worry, I'm sorry too. It's all ok now, alright?"
Oh wow, he was glad he gotten himself out of this one. He couldn't even explain it to himself why he had kissed him not to mention explaining it to Murdock.
Not letting the conman go, Murdock was already exploiting this situation. Face was his best friend, he could hug him all he wanted, whenever he wanted, for how long he wanted. "Thanks Facey you're the best!" he said as he hugged him even tighter, snuggling his head into the chest of the Lieutenant.
Weird feeling reappeared as Murdock snuggled closer against him. The same feelings when he had kissed the pilot and held him in his arms. It was making him feel uncomfortable, what was he supposed to do with them? And where did they come from?
But he couldn't deny he also enjoyed them, and that the pilot felt good against him. Argh this was driving him insane!
Pushing Murdock away Face smiled at him "I'm glad we're okay again buddy. I'm gonna go to sleep now, it has been a long day." He would love to get this day over with.
Grinning on the inside, Murdock could already see that he was having an effect on the conman "Okay! I'm just gonna take a quick shower before I go, so sweet dreams Face!"
"Thanks M." Templeton said as he took off his clothes and put on his pajama pants and jumped into bed, snuggling into the covers.
Humming a happy tune, Murdock gathered his things into the bathroom and walked back to his bed where he started to take his clothes off. In the corner of his eye he noticed that Peck was staring at him as he did so. With his back turned to him so the conman couldn't see, Murdock couldn't help smiling like an idiot, the Colonel was absolutely right.
Stepping into the shower Murdock thought about all the innocent ways he could torture Templeton Peck. He had to think of a way to get it into that thick head of Peck that it wasn't a girl he fell in love with, it was a guy and his was his best friend.
Maybe he should get a fake boyfriend…
The chopper pilot had to chuckle. Peck would probably skin the guy alive if he did or he would die from an heart attack.
No, that plan would defiantly be his last resort. If everything else fails.
Putting shampoo into his hair Murdock was thinking hard.
A big grin slowly appeared on the Captain's face as he blushed at the same time. Oh, yes. He knew what to do to Peck. And the plan would start, right now…
Again I thank everyone for reviewing. I hope you have enjoyed this chapter.
On the next chapter we will see a little less submissive Murdock than we're used to...
Thanks for reading.
