Ok, this is the last chapter so I hope it's good. This chapter contains some foreshadowing that's important. So enjoy it!
One Year Has Passed. Their Lives as They Are Now
Arctic Base
At the polar base, cadets trained really hard, struggling to hit targets or disarms robots that shot lasers. Overseeing all this was Numbuh 60; Patton Drilovsky, now the Drill Sergeant after Numbuh 600 steeped down.
"Move it, you maggots! You call yourselves operatives?" The Drill Sergeant barked out, his voice booming throughout the base. "I've seen grandmothers move more quickly!"
The cadets tried even harder, not wanting to let him down. As they did, Numbuh 60 turned to the Doblemitz twins.
"Numbuhs 44 and 44, what's the status down on the prison?" He asked with a stern look.
"All calm, sir. The prisoners aren't giving any trouble… for now," informed Pete.
"Is the Code Module being guarded?"
"Totally," said Peter.
"Did the important files were sent to the Moonbase?"
"All of them, sir." The twins said in unison.
"One more thing," he added. "Is my hot cocoa ready?"
"I got it!" The three boys turned to see Kate Kay, the 44 Twins cousin and a cadet, running up to them with a cup of the hot drink in her hand. "Woooaaahh!" Kate yelped as she slipped on the icy floor, sliding pass them. She tried to stop herself but only ended up falling backwards, the hot cocoa flying of her hand.
"Gaaahhh!" the steamy beverage spilled all over Patton. "Is a little hot, cadet!"
"Well, duh! It's HOT cocoa!" she said with obviousness.
"Kate-" Patton unsuccessfully tried to get her attention.
"It can't be hot cocoa if it's cold. Then it'll be cold cocoa!"
"Kate-"
"And no one wants cold cocoa; except the dessert people."
"Kate-" Patton was losing his patience now.
"Although those guys might actually prefer lemonade,
"KATE!" he had enough.
"Yes?" she asked innocently.
Patton was on the edge, his eye twitching and his jaw tight. The 44 twins looked at eachother nervously but Patton just sighed and shaked his head. "Just… bring me a towel, would ya?"
"Ok!" she said cheerfully and ran off to do just that… but, not without slipping on the ice again. "Weeeeeiiiiihhhhh!"
Patton sighed as she left then turned to the twins. "You two are dismissed." The twins saluted and left. "And YOU get back to training!" he pointed to a pair of cadets who had been standing there, watching the whole thing. "Man, I HOPE those teens are giving Numbuh 86 a hard time!"
Skies above Cleveland
"Faster ye stoopid BOY, before 'e gets away!"
10-year-old Fanny Fulbright yelled to Numbuh 59 as the male decommissioner tried to get the S.P.R.A.Y.S.H.I.P. to fly faster. The ship was on the chase of a runaway teen; an operative who was scheduled for decommission. The teen flew ahead of the troops in stolen S.C.A.M.P.E.R., attempting risky maneuvers to loss the troopers.
The KND ships followed his every move, not willing to lose sight on him. "Can't this stoopid ship go any faster?" screamed Numbuh 86, her face red. "The teen is getting' away!"
"I'm trying, I'm trying!" Numbuh 59; Doug Murphy frantically tried to speed up the ship. Ever since Numbuh 86 became Head of Decommission, she had made life a living nightmare to all the troops (mostly the boys) so Doug didn't want to get her angrier than she was now.
"Well try harder! Or Ay'll 'ave ya decommissioned along with that teen!"
"Look out!" yelled the co-pilot, Gwen Tucker.
The female troop's warning came on time as the S.P.R.A.Y.S.H.I.P. managed to avoid colliding with a house floating via balloons. The house's owner; Carl Fredricksen poked his head out of a window. "Watch where ya going, brats!" he angrily waved his cane at them.
"Weirdo," mumbled Gwen as their ship keep chasing after the teen. The ship managed to get close enough so that the stolen S.C.A.M.P.E.R. was on shooting range.
"FIRE IT DOWN!" commanded Fanny.
At his commander's orders, Gwen fired a missile to the S.C.A.M.P.E.R.'s rockets, blowing them up. The ship plummeted down to earth and crashed, a column of smoke rising up. The battered teen jumped off the ship and attempted to run away.
He didn't very far as Numbuhs 86, 58 and 58 stood in his way, weapons pointed at him. "Give it up, teenager!" ordered Fanny.
"Never!" He aimed a punch at her but Numbuh 86 dodged and kicked his shin. Gwen snuck from behind and did a swipe kick to knock him off his feet. Before he could recover, Doug delivered a mighty punch to his nose, knocking him out and then processed to cuff him.
Numbuh 59 and 58 dragged the cuffed, unconscious teen to their ship as Numbuh 86 looked on with a prideful smug look.
'Ay wonder how Rachel's doin'?'
High School Gym
Dozens of teenagers sat on the bleachers, excitedly chatting among themselves or texting on their phones. They all they shushed when their leader, The Steve, stepped up a podium, looking pretty cool.
"Hey there teens; The Steve is in the house!" The teens all cheered at their cool leader. "I know ya'll wonderin' why I called this meeting. Well, is… is…Uh, what was the reason?" As he tried to remember Cree Lincoln whispered something to his ear. "Oh yeah! The meeting is because we have devised a plan so awesome that it will surely bring those Kids Next Dorks to their knees!" This caused all the present teens to cheer so loudly that the school shaked.
Up on the air vents, watching everything unfold, was a small figure dressed in a black. The figure, Numbuh 362, narrowed her brown eyes, waiting intently for the best moment to spring into action.
That moment neared as a pedestal rose next to the platform where The Steve was standing as spotlights shone on what was one it. It appeared to be some kind of high-tech looking thing with buttons and a screen. Numbuh 362 looked at it confusedly, wondering what its purpose was along with most of the teens.
"Now," continued The Steve. "I'm sure some of you are wondering what this this is. Well is- eh, what was it?" Cree rolled her eyes and whispered to his ears. "Oh right! This is a high-tech decoder. With it, we can hack into all the KND files and steal all the information we want!"
Numbuh 362's eyes widened in horror as the teens cheered even louder than before. The spy girl then shook her fear away and put one a determinate look.
'Those teens aren't stealing anything. Not today, not EVER!' She though as she pulled a 2x4 remote control from her pocket and pressed a button on it.
The teens keep on cheering for a while longer, eager to finally destroy those brats. Their cheering was stopped when the lights suddenly when down.
"Hey, who killed the lights?"
"How should I know, I'm not psychic!"
"Just turn on the lights!"
The lights suddenly came back on and all the teens gasped when they saw that the decoder had disappeared.
"Wow, this is bad!" said The Steve the whispered to Cree. "Is this bad?" Cree slapped her forehead in frustration.
In the hallway
Rachel jumped out of the vents and landed gracefully on her feet. She had managed to disable the gym's lights using a remote device and in the confusion had snatched the decoder from under the teens' noses. Now she just had to get outta her and her mission would be accomplished.
"Hey you!" She turned to see a group of Teen Ninjas. "Hold it right there, brat!" ordered the leader.
Instead, the McKenzie girl put in a fighting stance, ready for battle. The teens charged at her, trying to punch but the blond spy blocked their blows while delivering her own. A ninja tried to attack from behind but she saw him coming and knocked him out. The remaining teens threw themselves at her but Rachel jumped and they crashed into some lockers, going unconscious. Rachel looked at the fallen teens with a satisfied look, proud of her work.
"Impressive," Rachel was startled when Cree suddenly appeared. "Though I wouldn't have expected anything less from you; you were top of the spying class, after all."
"Numbuh 11," said Rachel, glaring.
"Is Cree, twerp. I'm not a Dork Next Door anymore!"
"Yeah, you're now a traitorous teen who torments kids instead of protecting them."
"Yeah, well no one's perfect. But enough talking about my betrayal; let's get this over with!" The teen girl activated her mask as a laser came out of her armor.
Rachel flipped and jumped, dodging the lasers with ease. She ran to kick the traitor but Cree blocked her, kicking her away. The blond McKenzie tried a flying punch but Cree caught her arm and swung Rachel into a wall. Rachel lay dazed on the ground as Cree walked over and place her foot on Rachel's chest.
"Nice try, brat," Cree sneered as Rachel tried to get up. "Now, give me the decoder and I might destroy you quickly. Haha-" A football flew outta nowhere and hit Cree on the head, knocking her out.
Rachel stood up and stared at the ninja girl in surprise. She looked around, wondering who had thrown that ball but the locker-filled hall was empty. She shrugged it off and stepped over Cree, walking out the exit. She still needed to deliver that decoder to the scientists.
Once she was gone, the hallway became quite but not for long. One of the lockers opened and out stepped Fernie Murray; Doug Murphy's cousin. The 16-year-old boy looked around the hallway. Seeing no else (apart from the unconscious teens), Fernie took out a cellphone and put it to his ear.
"Numbuh 59.55 to base," he spoke into the phone. "Mission accomplished. The KND got the decoder."
"Good work, Numbuh 59.5," said someone on the other end. "Now you better return to the gym before someone discovers you."
"Yes sir! Hey, are you still coming over to my house to play videogames?"
"Totally! I'm gonna kick your butt at Super Mario Bros. 2, Fernie!"
"Ha! Not if I kick YOUR butt first, Rocky!"
KND Moonbase
"Understood Numbuh 78; I'll inform Numbuh 274 of your situation." Bartie Stork; Numbuh 35 said to the Sector X leader via a monitor.
"You better do it quick! These Nerd Zombies are getting grabby! Hey! Back off!" The African-American girl whacked a nerd with her S.P.L.A.N.K.E.R. off screen. "Sector X out!" The screen went black.
Bartie pressed a button and the image of Numbuh 274 appeared on the screen. "Numbuh 274, sir," saluted Bartie. "Sector X is having trouble with the Nerd Zombies."
"What; again? When will Numbuh 42 learn NOT to steal cards from them! Sigh, I'll send Sector F to help them. Numbuh 274 out!" And the screen went black again.
Bartie was left to sit there, starring at all the monitors. Since there were no more communications to make, he felt really bored and was looking for something to do. "I could check the security cams…" he thought out loud. He flipped a switch and all the monitors showed images of everything happening in the Moonbase.
'Let's see, he though, Numbuh 2 through 5 playing Whizbee, Numbuh 1 is talking to Rachel, the scientists are watching nerd shows when they should be studying the teens' decoder…'
"Spying again, Bartie?"
"AHHH!" Bartie jumped off his chair and turned to see Virginia Sims behind him. "DON'T sneak on me like that, Ginny!"
"Hehe, sorry." The Gothic girl smiled.
"It's ok. So, what brings you here?"
"Oh, I want to know if you wanna grab some ice cream at the cafeteria."
"Sure, is better than sitting here and looking at what the others are doing." He stood up and together they walked toward the cafeteria.
In another part of the Moonbase
"Outta me way or I'll have ya decommissioned before you even know it!"
The operatives scrambled to give Numbuh 86 and clear path as the redhead stomped through the hallway. She had come back from decommissioning the teen and was apparently looking for people to scream at. As she was about to round a corner, someone came the other way and knocked Fanny down.
"Watch where ya going or Ay'll-" she stopped short when she saw who she had bumped into. "Numbuh 60,"
The Drill Sergeant frowned at her sight. "Numbuh 86," Even though they despised each other, Patton offered his hand which she surprisingly accepted.
Dusting the dust of her skirt, Numbuh 86 addressed the boy. "What are ye doin' up here?" she asked.
"I came to tell Numbuh 274 that the cadets are ready to graduate soon." He answered, still frowning.
"Well, then don't keep him waitin'! Move it!"
"Ok, ok. Not that I wanna stay here ya know." He left.
As she watched him leave, Numbuh 86's face turned to sadness.
"Still won't forgive him?" The Head of Decommission turned to see Numbuh 227, leaning against the wall. "You have been at it for almost a year now."
Recovering from her surprise, Numbuh 86's ire returned. "Yeah, well. I'm never forgiving him! He's just like every other stupid boy in the planet: selfish and useless."
Fanny M. rolled her eyes. "Look, I get why you hate Patton but you don't have to take it out on the other boys, you know."
Fanny F. sighed. "I know but I can't help it. All the boys remind me of what Patton said and I take my rage out on them; even me brothers. I want to forgive him but I'm afraid to be hurt again."
Numbuh 227 nodded in understanding. "Yeah, it hurts deeply when a good friend insults. But I know that it hurts you more because Patton's more than a friend to you." She said knowingly.
"What? No!" she denied. "Patton is just my friend- well, was my friend. But still, I don't think of him that way!"
Numbuh 227 shook her head. "Fan, don't lie to me because I know when you are. I'm psychic remember."
Numbuh 86 sighed, knowing she couldn't hide the truth when 227 already knew it. "Fine, I like-like Patton. Scratch that, I love him!" She declared with a dreamy look on her face." I have loved him ever since I first set my eyes on that handsome face and those beautiful eyes of his," her expression turned to sadness. "Then, he called me a banshee and I felt me heart break into pieces. That's why I can't forgive him, why I hate him. It's because I love him."
Fanny M. was so touched by Numbuh 86's words that she almost cried. She held back her tears as she walked over to her friend and placed a hand on her shoulder. "I understand your suffering. But you must know that Patton suffers too. He suffers for all the hurt he has given you, I can feel it. I know it because he feels the same about you."
Numbuh 86 listened to the other Fanny's words, thinking about their meaning.
"Whelp, I should be going now," Fanny M. started to walk away but looked back for a moment. "Just think about what I said, ok?" and she was gone.
Numbuh 86 stood alone in the hallway, thinking about what the psychic girl had said. 'I think she might be right. Serena is right too. I can't hold this grudge forever.'
"Numbuh 86?"
Snapping out of her thoughts, Numbuh 86's anger returned. "What do ya want?!" she asked (more like yelled) the male operative who had come over.
The boy shook in fear and handed the redhead a file. "N-Numbuh 274 said to give you this!" he then hurried off before 86 could have his head.
Numbuh 86 read over the file she had been given, going over what was written. Once she had read it, she tapped her wrist communicator. "Numbuh 58 answer up!" she yelled into it. "I need you to go down to Earth and bring Numbuh 206 up for decommissioning. What! Only Numbuh 59 is available? Ugh fine! Take him with you! He better not mess it up or else! Numbuh 86 out!"
Numbuh 86 straitened her helmet and adjusted her M.U.S.K.E.T. She had the feeling that something was going to be wrong and she'll be the one paying the consequences.
And that's it! After a long time I fially put an end to this story! Next time I'll begin with a rewriting on the ending of Operation: GRADUATES that changes Tommy Gilligan's fate on the show. Until then I might post some one-shots. Anyway, see ya!
