Phil POV
"Breathe Phil, breathe." Dan took my jacket zip from me and did it up himself. My hands were shaking so much I could barely dress myself. He held my head, making me look into his eyes. "It's going to be fine." He pressed his forehead against mine, "It will be fine." He said quietly and kissed me. He grabs his coat and checks his phone, "We better go."
I could tell he was just as nervous as me or more so but he was better at containing it. We walked and got onto the tube to get the train to Dan's parent's house. It was a few months later from when Chris and PJ found out. We'd decided to tell his parents, then travel up to my parent's and tell them.
I know Dan didn't like to admit it but they didn't really approve of me being his friend. They had high hopes for him to become a lawyer, he'd dropped out of uni to go into being a full time youtuber. However famous or amazing he got at that it would never compare to the 'perfect' son they'd imagined him being and because all this happened when he met me, and later moved in. They blamed me. I had no idea how they'd react to me being his boyfriend. They were barely happy with the fact I was coming with Dan today.
We got off of the train later that day and Dan's parents were waiting for us. They hugged Dan and shook my hand. Then Dan's younger brother opened the back door and jumped out. He ran at Dan and hugged him; making Dan drop his bag.
Dan laughed, "You've grown squirt!" He ruffled his hair and after a minute let him go. Dan and his brother were so cute, they talked on skype a lot and sent letters to each other. They'd had a rough patch a few years ago (which his parent's also blamed me for) but it had made them stronger.
His little brother looked up and smiled at me "Phil!" He smiled and hugged me too.
We drove back to Dan's house with awkward small talk in the car. His parent's asked how his youtube was going. Dan looked at me and raised an eyebrow. He knew they weren't actually interested and it hurt him.
We got back to his house to find most of his family. We put our bags in Dan's old room and came down stairs. There were a few cousins I'd met before; the rest I didn't really know but they talked to me as if they'd known me for years. I honestly felt welcome. I particularly got on with a cousin Dan had told me about before: Liam who was 27.
Liam and I were laughing about something when Dan come up to me, "Now." He whispered in my ear.
"Sure?" I asked, feeling nerves in my stomach.
He nodded, looking worried. He lead me to the lounge where his parents were sat waiting for us. We sat down on the sofa opposite them. Dan cleared his throat. "Mum, dad, I have something to tell you."
"What is it Dan?" His mum questioned.
"I…we're… recently I… I realised…" He stuttered.
"Come on Dan, spit it out." His Dad said.
"I…" Dan looked down. I knew this meant a lot to him; he felt like his parents barely accepted him anyway, and he didn't know how to tell them. He was terrified.
"Dan do you need to tell us something or not?! There are people waiting out there." His Mum asked.
"I…" He looked at me, in a quitter voice he said, "I don't know what to say." He took a deep breath.
"It's ok," I murmured, "Take your time."
"Mum, Dad… I'm in a relationship." He breathed out.
His mum's eyes lit up. "Dan you didn't have to worry about telling us that." She held his dad's hand, "Is she anyone I know?"
He closed his eyes for a second, "That's the thing Mum, 'they're' not a girl."
His Dad figured it out first. I saw him make the connection, of me being in the room and Dan talking about a relationship. But his Mum was the one to say something. "No." Dan looked down, "No, Daniel no." I could feel him tensing up beside me.
"Mum, it's not something I can control." His voice cracked.
"No, Daniel, No."
"Mrs Howell, please don't, Dan hasn't changed he's still Dan." I tried to reason.
She shook her head, "He wasn't like this before he met you. He wasn't… you did this."
Dan looked up. "No, I knew before Phil Mum, don't blame this on him, I've always been bisexual." He said quietly.
"You're not bisexual." She shook her head, "It's just a, It's just a phase. You'll snap out of it."
Dan shook his head, tears in his eyes. "No Mum…"
She pointed at me, "Get out." She growled at me. I looked at Dan, he was biting his lip; fighting back tears.
He stood up, facing his mum, raising his arms, "I just knew, I knew you wouldn't accept me and you've been finding every reason you can to hate on Phil, even when we were friends. I just…" He turned from her. "Come on Phil." He grabbed my hand and walked me out of the room.
"Don't even think about coming back." His mum screamed after us.
We walked through the kitchen where the now silent family were and walked out the front door. As soon as we got outside Dan started running. I ran after him.
He finally slowed in an underpass. I grabbed him and wrapped my arms around him and held him close. "It will be ok."
"No it won't"
"It will Dan." I pulled him back into a hug, "Trust me"
