Author's Note: Hello readers! Sorry if the update was slow, but with my studies it seems this will be about the average amount of time updates will take. Also, if you get really bored and you like my writing style you could read Peter Pan Must Grow Up which is a sort of prequel to this story, to put a pitch out there for that. Thank you so much for the kind reviews :) they mean so so much to me. I smile whenever I get them. Follows and Favorites make me happy, too! By the way, I never did a disclaimer, although I guess if it's fanfiction it might be obvious I don't own most of the characters. Disney or perhaps JM Barrie owns Neverland. Jane, Peter Pan, and Captain Hook are not mine. Unfortunately, neither is the bumbling Mr. Smee. Now enjoy my fanfiction :) or even if you don't enjoy review and tell me why! Sorry for the long note. I promise it will be shorter next time.

Peter moved the bishop diagonally one space.

"Check!" exclaimed Peter.

"No, no, no, that's not check," said Edmund, "don't be silly. Check is when my king is in jeopardy."

"But look, it is," said Peter, pointing to the piece.

"No, no, that's the queen."

"Ew. There's no need for queens," said Peter, picking up the piece and throwing it across the room.

"Oh, grow up, Peter," said Edmund, glaring at his younger brother. He broke out a smile, "No pun intended."

Peter shrugged, still uncomfortable with even the thought of growing up. He smiled at Edmund nonetheless and gave a deep sigh.

There was a knock at the door. Edmund looked at Peter, and grumbled as he realized there was no way Peter would get up and open the door.

He opened it to see an about middle-aged (although Edmund really couldn't tell) man with short, black hair and a big nose standing at the door. The man nervously smiled.

"May I help you?" asked Edmund.

"I have come to see Arabella," the man announced, "my name is James.

"What for?" Edmund questioned. Why was some man here to see his sister? Even though she was older, Edmund still felt the urge to protect her.

"It's personal," James replied.

Edmund looked down, debating.

"Arabella!" he finally called. Edmund wished his father wasn't at work in case this man didn't have honest intentions.

Arabella came downstairs from her bedroom and smiled at James.

"James! What is it?" she asked.

James smiled, looking as if her were relieved.

Peter had gotten up the moment he heard the man speak who was at the door. Where had he heard that voice before? It seemed so familiar, yet he couldn't quite place it.

"I just had wanted to see if you were okay."

Peter stared at the door and finally walked around to see whose voice he was hearing.

"That's sweet of you," said Arabella.

Edmund was really frowning, not liking the strange man talking to his sister like that. How did they even know each other?

"Captain Hook!" exclaimed Peter.

Arabella and James both looked at the boy, shocked.

"What in the world?" asked Edmund, not quite understanding.

Everything about Hook from Neverland rushed back to Peter. No wonder he hadn't recognized the voice; Hook in Neverland was always yelling. Now, the Captain Hook standing in front of him looked quite different, but he was still the same man. A change of clothes and a haircut really didn't change much of anything. Peter saw right through what he presumed to be a disguise.

"Get out of here, Hook. You know, here, there are actually consequences of you killing me. If you try anything you would spend the rest of your life in jail," Peter stated immediately.

"Peter, I have no intention of harming you, or your family," Hook insisted, looking alarmed.

"Peter, listen to him," urged Arabella.

"How do you know him?" asked Peter angrily, glaring at his sister.

"Peter…"

"HOW DO YOU KNOW HIM? Arabella, do you know who he is? He tried to KILL me. Multiple times! This is completely ridiculous."

Peter Pan was absolutely furious. It seemed to him that Captain Hook was trying to manipulate his sister into becoming involved in his plot. Hook was a great actor; he had tricked Jane before into thinking that he had wanted to leave Neverland. Peter would never, ever dare trust Captain Hook.

"I do know who he is," Arabella tried to explain, "he used to be a very bad man."

"Are you crazy? Get away from him," said Peter, yanking Arabella further away.

Arabella looked helplessly at Hook and looked Peter in the eye, noticing that he had recently grown a few inches. Peter was taller than her now, and perhaps stronger. Edmund, starting to understand, immediately moved between Hook and his two siblings. If this guy was truly Captain Hook, he would have to go through Edmund before causing harm to his family.

James looked completely helpless. Finally, he held up his arm. There was no hook, and no hand.

"I promise I mean no harm," he insisted.

Peter looked skeptically at him.

"Where's your hook, Hook?"

"It's gone. Forever," the former captain replied wearily.

"Peter," Arabella spoke again, "He's telling the truth. He wants to change, believe me. I know his heart."

"Peter, I've come here to apologize," said Hook.

There was dead silence. Even Edmund couldn't think of anything to say to that.

"Why?" asked Peter finally.

"Because I wish for your forgiveness. So I can be freed from Neverland forever," explained Hook, sounding desperate.

"I can't trust you," said Peter bluntly.

"You don't have to trust me. Just listen to me when I say that I am truly sorry. I was ambitious, and driven mad with revenge. I was a completely despicable human being. There's no excuse for it, but I've changed. I have no desire to ever return to the island, nor to harm you. Please, forgive me," James spoke in a barely a whisper.

"I want to speak with you alone," replied Peter, "Come with me."

"No," said Edmund immediately, blocking Hook from entering the house.

"Edmund, it's fine. I promise," said Arabella.

Edmund debated, before finally stepping aside, allowing Hook to enter the home and follow Peter upstairs.

Peter immediately took out his green hat that he had worn in Neverland, and removed the small parcel of pixie dust he had left.

"It's interesting what different uses pixie dust has in each world," explained Peter.

"Do you, forgive me?" asked Captain Hook, feeling awkward as Peter had completely changed the subject.

Peter ignored his question.

"Hold out your arm, Hook," ordered Peter.

Hook held out the arm that still had a hand and stretched out his fingers. Peter shook his head. "The other one."

Hook frowned, but listened to the boy. Peter roughly pulled up Hook's sleeve to reveal the stump where his hand used to be. Peter sprinkled some pixie dust on it and stared at it, waiting. Hook looked at his arm too, and with shock felt the stump tingle. It felt so hot, Hook almost cried out for help. Then, fingers formed from the stump, and extended outwards. The palm of the hand followed next, and finally the small part of the wrist that had been lost to the crocodile.

"My…my hand," said Hook, shocked.

"You're no longer Captain Hook. Now get out," said Peter.

Peter was completely unreadable by this point. He was like a bomb waiting to go off, or the silence before the storm. Hook nodded his gratitude and left his room. Peter left a moment after and looked down the staircase to see the former captain touch Arabella's face with his new hand. She took it and held it, and to Peter's shock, Hook kissed her on the lips.

At that moment, Jane and Elmer Price walked through the front door.
