Chapter 13

"'~.'~.'.~'.~'" Amy P.O.V "'~.'~.'.~'.~'"

I marched along in the woods with Monica ahead of me. Bugs – Kitten Shino – was sitting on my left shoulder, his claws deeply imbedded into my shirt. I stumbled once again on an upturned root, causing Bugs' nails to claw my skin. When I gained my footing, I wrenched the black paws off of my shoulder. Shino meowed and nuzzled to my neck, showing his apology. I rolled my eyes as a shade of pink covered my cheeks. I looked away from kitten Shino and locked eyes on Monica, who was a little ways up.

When I reached Monica, I found a vast house in front of the two of us. I let out a relieved sigh and walked to the door with Monica. With ease, she opened the door and led me through the hallway. I felt Shino's claws imbed themselves into my shoulder once again. I turned to give him a look but found a tense cat that was looking all around. My breath hitched nervously as I sped through the dark house with Monica. The eerie thing about the house was the dead silence. I looked around again, and then glanced at Monica. A shiver ran up my spine.

"Hey Monica?" Said girl turned to look at me curiously, she tiled her head slightly.

"Hm?"

"Where's your parents?" Monica shrugged her shoulders before walking on some more.

"Around." She stated dully, sharply turning left and then right. My breathing escalated as we walked deeper into her house. The air around me felt denser, and a ringing filled my ears. I felt Shino's claws sink deeper into my skin – he must feel it too. My footsteps began to slow, and Rachel was getting further and further away. When I stopped, I heard Rachel's cease as well.

"Where'd ya go?" She asked a couple turns ahead.

With my breathing heavy, I reached her blindly. The hallway now was a pitch black, her figure the only thing telling me where to go. I held a hand in front of my face as I walked on. In the silence, my mind trailed off to how familiar this was. Walking in this pitch black hall with this feeling of impending doom, it reminds me of Edgar Allan Poe's Cask of Amontillado (or is it Cast?). I shivered at the thought and walked on. After a few more turns, I saw a dim glow down the hall.

"We're almost there." Monica stated, walking towards the glow. When we got close enough, I felt Shino spring up and hiss threateningly. Taking this as my cue, I turned to run away from where I was heading to. I will not be led somewhere to die.

Much to my shock, I ran into something solid, successfully falling on my ass from the impact. Looking up towards the mass, I discovered a flash from a pair of glasses. I shivered as I looked at the figure and began to back away on the ground.

In one swift movement the figure picked me up by my shirt and held me up in the air. I growled angrily and began to squirm under the hold. Using both hands to hold me up, I quickly brought my leg towards the person's stomach. The figure caught it with their free hand. With a chuckle, the shadow threw me away from him and into the lighted area.

I coughed when I hit the wall, the breath successfully being knocked out of me. During the scuffle Shino jumped off of my shoulder, and now he was on my stomach and looking at me. He let out a worried meow. I smiled at him before picking him up off of me and getting up.

"Don't worry about me Shino. I can handle this for now. We have no way of letting the others know what's going on, and since you're a cat I have to at least try!" I stated as I looked towards the shadowed hallway. Swinging the backpack off of my back, I zipped it open and pulled out Shino's kunai.

"See I have these, and like Lee said I'm pretty good at hand-to-hand combat!" With this I threw the pack back towards Shino and readied myself for an attack.

"Heh heh heh. How amusing. A weakling from this universe is going to attempt to fight and beat me?" The figure said, stepping out of the darkness.

My eyes widened in shock as I looked at the fiend. After a short moment, I small smirk fell onto my face.

"So this is where you've been hiding. I knew you were here too." I growled.

"So tell me Kabuto, is Sasuke here too? Karin? Jugo? Hmm? No, don't answer that. I don't give a shit who's here." I glared at Kabuto as I tightened my grip on the kunai in my hands. Kabuto chuckled, the light flashing onto his glasses.

"You are an interesting subject. I'm sure Orochimaru will let me get inside your head while we interrogate you." I glared at him.

"You wish four eyes. I'll never let you even touch me!" I growled, preparing to lunge towards him. Kabuto chuckled again and pushed up his glasses.

"Are you sure you want to do that? I will surly kill you if you try to pass me." I smirked at him and glanced over to kitten Shino. He was searching around the room trying to find something that could help him signal the others. I looked back towards Kabuto.

"It seems that I have no choice. Shino is a kitten and unable to fight, so it's up to me." Kabuto smirked again before disappearing.

"So it seems." Kabuto whispered in my ear. With a growl, I spun around to try to stab him with a kunai. Catching my arm, he squeezed it threateningly. I growled at the pain and swung my leg up. Anticipating him catching it, I swung up into the air and kneed him in the face. Jumping back, he smirked and pushed up his glasses.

"You call that a hit?" I glared and ran up towards him. He blocked every hit I swung at him, carefully watching every movement I made. In seconds he caught both of my hands and swept his foot under both of mine. Falling to the ground, his hand smashed into my throat. I coughed at the impact and glared up at the ninja.

"Is Rachel on your side?" I questioned hoarsely. Kabuto chuckled at me.

"Of course, now you're coming with–" With a sudden hiss, Kabuto retracted from his position on me. He clutched onto his left eye, which was now seeping with blood. I looked down on my stomach to find Shino. I smiled in thanks to him and sprang up. Running to my bag, I swung it onto my back and ran towards the dark hallway.

In no time, Kabuto recuperated from the attack and began chasing after us. I looked down at the kunai I had in my hands and found bomb kunai. Quickly, I began throwing them on the sides of the walls and on the ceiling. In no time the hallway was caved in behind us.

A lot of turns later, we reached the front door of the house. Breaking it open with a curb stomp that I didn't know I could muster, I ran out to the now darkened and rainy sky.

POOF

I looked behind me and the poofing sound and found a cloud of white smoke. When it cleared, an angry grey kitten with glasses on was glaring towards us. I smirked, flipped it off, and turned to race home.

"'~.'~.'.~'.~'"

"That was really close. Thank you so much Shino. I owe you me life." I stated as I walked down the street towards my apartment. Shino meowed from my shoulder and let out a yawn. In response I yawned too.

"Yeah I know, I'm tired too." I muttered sleepily, quickening my pace.

"Kakashi and Asuma will not be pleased when they hear what happened…" I sighed, scratching the back of my head.
