"I love you Fang," I whisper.

He smiles and takes my hand.

We stand together on the precipice, opening our wings to their full span and watching the long feathery shadows reach out over the land below.

"Max, Max! It's your wedding day!" Someone shook awake. I groaned, then sat bolt upright.

"Am I getting married to Fang, Nudge?" I cried. Then frowned. It wasn't Nudge sitting in front of me. It was my pale sister, Kate.

"Who?"she asked, wrinkling her nose. I rubbed my head and closed my eyes.

"Sorry, just a weird dream I had," I mumbled. "A very long dream. A very vivid dream."

"Are you feeling better?" she asked. "You know, after the accident. They almost called off the wedding."

"What happened?" I asked.

"You got nocked out. You were bold over on your bike and hit your head badly," she explained. I rubbed my head again.

"The dreamed seemed so real! How long was I unconscious for?"

"A day and night. That's one of the things that happens when you bang your head, you get vivid dreams."

So it had all just been a dream. Every single bit. The flock, the school, the erasers, Fang. I felt like crying, It couldn't have been a dream, it couldn't…
