(Steve's POV)
Danny and I decided to hit the waves at one of my favorite spots on the island. I was trying to explain to him the rules of riding a wave but he continued to ramble on how you can't own a wave.
Danny was still rambling when he was cut off by my sister Mary calling out to the both of us.
"Hey, there you are" Mary exclaimed running towards us in what look like a flight attendants outfit.
"I didn't know your sister was back" Danny stated.
"Neither did I." I replied.
"Hey I have been looking for you two all over. I even went by the house and asked Marissa where you were at." Mary-Ann said.
"Hey what are you doing here?" I asked her.
"What does it look like I am doing here?" she fired back gesturing down to her outfit.
"It looks like you are here for a Halloween party and you are dressed as a flight attendant." I replied.
"Come on seriously" she said with an eye role.
"You work for the airlines?" I asked.
"Yeah I got the job two weeks ago. They have me on the Oahu to New York run. I am going to be here twice a week. Gives me time to spend with you and your kids." Mary explained with excitement.
After she gave Danny and I a hug we headed back to my house.
Marissa was chasing Lily around trying to put on her bathing suit while Ty was upstairs changing.
"Dadee" Lily squealed when we walked through the door.
"Hey there princess. Giving mom a hard time?" i asked my one year old.
"Hey did you find your present on the beach?" Marissa asked.
"More like she found me. Why are you running around you should be taking it easy." I replied.
"Yeah well Lily doesn't think I need to. But I am taking the kids down to the beach. Do some bonding with Mary will you?" Marissa replied.
Taking Lily's bathing suit from Marissa I put it on our daughter and set her down. Ty flew down the stairs a few moments late going on right away about the sports games he wanted to watch with me tonight before Marissa hurried them out the door.
"Why didn't you call me from the airport I could have picked you up" I asked Mary.
"I wanted to surprise you" she exclaimed.
"Look at him he looks surprised" Danny added.
"In a good way. So stewardess how did that happen?" I asked.
"My friend Angela got me the job. We like to be called flight attendants." Mary- Ann fired back
"How long are you going to be in town for?" I questioned.
"My flight leaves in a few hours so I have to head back to my hotel to freshen up. When I come back I want to spend some time with everyone. I want to hear about my new nephew." Mary replied stepping up to give me a hug.
When I walked into HQ later on in the day Marissa, Chin, Kono and Danny were all whispering to each other. When I came into view the quickly got quiet before filing out of Danny's office.
"What is going on? You all are acting weird and my wife included." I asked.
"Nothing you sound paranoid." Danny fired back.
I was cut off when my phone began to ring. On the other line I got news that Mary had been arrested.
When we arrived on scene an HPD officer was going over the information on Mary's case. Someone had information on a flight attendant trying to smuggle contraband on the flight and Mary was caught with a bag of diamonds strapped to her waist.
Mary was sitting in an airport holding room when I got to see her.
"What the hell happened?" I asked.
"When I got to my hotel room there was a man sitting in there with a gun" Mary started.
"Okay have you ever seen this man before?" I questioned.
"No I don't think so." She replied.
"What do you mean you don't know?" I asked getting confused.
"I mean I know I don't know him. He told me that if I didn't do what he said he was going to kill Angela." Mary answered with a tear rolling down her cheek.
Mary explained to me how she met Angela and how they became friends. Her story didn't seem to add up on why she was chosen by this guy to have her smuggle the diamonds. Now it was mine and the team's job to figure out what happened.
Chin and Kono were already at Mary's hotel room when Danny and I arrived. They briefly went over what they found or in our case what they didn't find.
"I did find out that Mary did have a coworker named Angela Branson who is based out of New York. She isn't supposed to be flying out for the next three days." Chin ran down.
"Also the hotel staff said that Angela had a room booked but she never checked in" Kono added.
"Get any personal information on her?" I asked.
"We got a cell phone number but when we call it goes straight to voicemail." Kono replied.
"Alright just keep looking and tell me what you guys find" I said before heading out into the hall with Danny on my heels.
After checking with security of the hotel Danny and I found out that Angela Branson was taken hostage and Mary was telling the truth.
Speeding down the highway towards HQ Danny was complaining about my driving skills.
"Will you stop driving this car like its stolen" Danny shrieked holding onto the door.
"I am driving like how I always do. It doesn't make any sense whoever made that call about Mary's involvement had to been in on it." I replied.
"Yeah well this whole case isn't making any sense. Will you please slow the hell down?" Danny demanded
When Danny and I arrived at HQ Mary was sitting in Marissa's office holding a bottle of water both women were talking but Mary still had a terrified look on her face.
Stepping in I asked my sister "Are you okay?"
"I am fine" she replied but not with conviction.
"Marissa can you pull up what you found?" I asked.
She nodded her head before giving Mary a reassuring squeeze and heading towards the smart table.
(Danny's POV)
"I ran through all the security footage and there is not good angle on this guy. He keeps his face hidden and not enough to run facial recognition. There are no cameras in the stairwell." Marissa provided.
"I have a plan but it's kind of a goofy one. What if we borrow the governors' jet and take Mary to New York. We catch the guy for smuggling." I suggested.
"I will call the governor and get the plan ready" Marissa stated heading back to her office.
"Chin and Kono get our gear ready and we will get ready to head of airport." I ordered.
I got a phone call thirty minutes later from HPD saying the evidence truck and been hit.
Arriving on scene Chin and I noticed Captain Fryer was taking charge of the situation.
Chin was looking over evidence of the crime scene when Fryer made his appearance.
"Hey just so you know this is HPD's case not Five-0's" s" Fryer stated.
"Some people start conversations with pleasantries. But I guess that doesn't happen when you become the new chief of detectives." I shot back.
"You do realize that the transport van was transferring evidence for a case we were working" Chin stated.
"I aware of the kidnapping case but the murder of two of my cops trumps your case" Fryer replied arrogantly.
Chin went to go talk to another HPD office leaving me to deal with Fryer.
"You do know the only people who know about what was being transferred were cops. If you are going to look for the hijacker then I suggest looking into HPD." I said.
"No way in hell. I cleaned house. I'll bet my job none of my guys were in on that." Fryer defended.
"HPD ran the plates on the semi. It was reported stolen last night." Chin said coming up behind Fryer.
"Okay if they the semi last night they already knew that the diamonds were going to be seized today" Fryer stated.
"Alright who would have known about something like that?" Chin asked.
"The guy who called the anonymous tip on Mary." I retorted.
"But if they were always after the diamonds why not snatch Mary at the airport?" Chin questioned.
"Because they were more afraid of the diamond smugglers than they were afraid of us." I pointed out.
"Let's make them worry about us" Fryer said before taking off.
Chin and I were going over information at HQ when Fryer made an appearance again with some information. We needed to talk to an ex-con who had a history of smuggling diamonds.
After getting Steve from his office we headed to the new lead.
August March was a man in his late 70s with a criminal record for stealing and reselling diamonds. When Fryer began to harass the older man Steve stepped in and asked him for his help.
(Steve' POV)
August March had called up the man that had asked for his help and told him to meet him at a local restaurant. Chin and Kono sat a few tables away while Danny and I sat in my truck in view of the table while Fryer hid close by.
I ordered everyone to stand down until March gave us our signal. When the hijacker found out he was made he pulled his gun but Fryer took him out.
"Good shot but you just happen to kill our only lead" I sneered before leaving the group.
Back at headquarters Marissa pulled up some information on our hijacker he was related to a cop Danny and I arrested for being dirty.
Danny and Fryer went down to the prison to talk to Ex- Detective Kaleo. We were all going over all the information we had on our suspect when Danny and Fryer came in with some more information when Mary came out and pointed out the man that had kidnapped Angela.
Marissa was left to gather more information as the rest of the team and I went to arrest Jordan Nevins. Kono went to verify that Nevins was in his hotel room as the rest of us suited up. I was about to pop Danny's trunk when he jumped in front of me.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"Nothing why don't you take a vest from Chin" Danny answered.
I popped his trunk anyways and noticed a cake in shape of a gun.
"So this is why you guys all stopped talking when I walked in this morning" I question throwing Danny a smirk.
"Like usual you found a way to ruin everything. Thanks" Danny replied.
"Umm buttercream that's my favorite" I stated licking the icing off my fingers.
Jordan Nevins was sitting in his hotel room when we entered. Making sure everything was clear we took him in to custody.
Jordan gave us all the information he had when Fryer and I threatened him with exposing his cooperation. Angela Branson was not a victim in this case she was the suspect. She had orchestrated the whole operation and decided to use Mary as a target. This case was no longer Five-0's but now Interpol's and FBI.
Mary was sitting in my office after we handed Jordan over to the FBI.
"I feel so stupid" Mary started.
"We don't suspect the people we trust to lie to us" I replied.
"Well what about me? What am I supposed to do?" Mary asked.
"You move on. You pick yourself up. You learn from your mistakes." I said.
"I honestly don't know what to do with myself. I liked that job." Mary complained.
"Well you still have your job. I called the airline and the job is still yours." I replied with a smile.
She hugged me in Thank you before Danny interrupted and asked for us to follow him.
Marissa and our kids were standing in front of the smart table with Chin and Kono when they all started to sing happy birthday. I grabbed Lily from her mother and kissed Ty's head before heading over to blow out my candles.
Later on Marissa and I sat on the couch at home as Mary chased our kids around as they giggled and squealed.
"Everything alright baby" Marissa asked running her fingers down my arm.
"Everything is fine" leaning over and capturing her mouth with mine.
"Hey I meant to ask you do you know where my dog tags went?" I asked her pulling away.
"No I haven't seen them" Marissa replied her posture seemed to tense.
"I thought I left them in the drawer but I can't find them anywhere." I answered.
"You can ask Ty. You know how much he wants to be like you" Marissa commented.
I could tell something was wrong by her answer. It was almost like she was hiding something.
