(Steve's POV)
The whole team minus Marissa were chasing down suspect through a crowded mall. He was one of five prison escapees that were tracking down.
Kono had finally taken the perp down after he rounded a corner. Danny stopped clutching his thighs as he panted for breath.
"I am telling you Danny you should come on my morning run." I said throwing a smirk in his direction.
"No one can keep up with crazy SEAL ass anyways" Danny retorted.
"Good job Kono. Have him escorted back." I said nodding towards the fugitive
"Got it boss" Kono replied following the HPD officers hauling the prisoner.
"Steve, Marissa just called said she might have another one for us. She is sending you the information now." Chin said.
"Let's get going" I ordered before heading towards Danny's Camaro.
We pulled up to the location Marissa had pulled up for us.
"How much you want to bet this guy is already running out the back door" Danny asked.
"Come on Danny you know they always run" Chin said.
"Yeah well that's why we all have jobs because dumb asses like these" Danny fired back.
"Come on. I got the front you two take the back" I order checking my gun one last time.
The second escapee was in the shower when we got into the house. He must have heard us pull up because when busted through he was already half way out the window in nothing but a towel. Danny grabbed him and dragged him back in before cuffing him.
"I swear to you I have never had a suspect try to climb out of a window naked. The pineapple infested hell hole just keeps better and better." Danny complained.
"Come on man it wasn't that bad" I said with a laugh.
"Yeah because you weren't dragging his naked ass back through the window. Keep laughing buddy but just so you know you are buying the first round when this case is closed." Danny retorted.
"You got it buddy. Chin take this one will you. Danny and I will check in with Marissa and see if she got any more leads." I said the older man nodded in compliance and took the prisoner.
Back at HQ Marissa sat on her office chair in front of the small table going over more information on our case. Five prisoners distracted the guards and busted out of the Hawaii correctional this morning. Two were in custody but the other three and the most dangerous were still running around the island.
I placed the bottle of water I grabbed for Marissa next to her before asking her what else she has gotten.
"Ian Strait had a rap sheet so long is hard to choose which offenses are worse than others. But Karl Kinoa, and Derick Coney are his two body guards. The two that you guys got were lower chain thugs. Frankie Wong and Leo KEONE were only serving a few years for drug charges. It's the other three we have to worry about." Marissa started.
"Great like the two psychos we caught today weren't bad enough." Danny ranted.
"Ian is distributor for one of the drug cartels in San Diego. Moved to Hawaii 6 years ago after finding out it was easier to have stuff delivered here. The DEA busted him 2 years ago after an informant gave them solid evidence to take him down. The other two were just at the wrong place at the wrong time. Frankie and Leo have no association with the other three so I guess they just took the opportunity to run." Marissa added.
"And possible locations on these guys?" I asked as Kono and Chin walked in.
"What have we got?" Chin asked.
"Ian Strait and his two body guards." Danny answered.
"Isn't he a drug distributor?" Kono asked
"He is and we need to hurry and catch him before he gets off the island. Marissa did you find anything on his known associates?" I stated.
"He has people all over the country. So we have no idea who he has already contacted." Marissa stated.
"So basically we are looking at a very small window before he leaves." Kono added.
"There is a local club he practically lived at. He was a friend with the owner. But other than that I couldn't get anything else. His history is so scattered. The other two will protect him and just to warn you guys they are trained in hand to hand combat." Marissa said.
"Alright let's give this club a look. Danny and I will go. Chin and Kono see if you can help with the gathering intel" I ordered.
Danny and I left and headed towards the location Marissa and pulled up for us. It was one of the more tourists kind of meaning it was packed during the evenings. It was deserted now only with a few delivery trucks parked outside.
The owner Kiko Samson was talking to the delivery guys when we walked in.
"If this is about the fight last night I gave you guys all the information already" Kiko said glancing at our badges.
"We aren't here about the fight. We are here about your buddy Ian" Danny replied.
"Look guys he was a paying customer but other than that I didn't really talk to the guy." Kiko replied.
"Really the word around is that he helped you in a tight spot and now you two are best friends" I fired back.
"Why are the cops asking about him? He is already in jail?" Samson asked.
"Don't play stupid you know he broke out this morning. I really hate when people play stupid" Danny retorted.
While Danny continued to argue with Samson I checked around and found a pile of orange prison jumpsuits. Picking one up I headed back towards Danny.
"Look what I found lying in the back. You really have to come up with better lies" I stated.
Danny cuffed Kiko as I started to ask more questions "How long ago did they leave?"
"If I give you anything I am a dead man" Kiko replied.
"yeah well if you don't start answering questions you are going to have to deal with Rambo over there and his way of interrogating is going to leave you hanging of the side of a building." Danny said.
"Who did Ian call?" I demanded.
"I don't know. All I did was give him and his guys some clothes. I told him that he could make his call but he needed to get out of here." Samson answered.
"I will call Chin and have him run the phone records. I have to drop you guys off at HPD. I have an errand to run" I said.
In the car Kiko sat in the backseat as I sped down the streets towards HPD.
"Where the hell do you have to go in the middle of a case?" Danny asked.
"I have an errand to run" I fired back.
"Yeah well what is so important that you have to leave?" Danny shot back.
"I don't have to explain everything I do Daniel." I replied.
"you know what I am so sick and tired of this crap of you budding into my life but when I asked you one simple question all I get is the run around" Danny fired back.
"How long have you two been married?" Kiko asked.
"Shut up" Danny and I said in unison.
"I have to meet with the DA" I said getting exasperated with Danny and his rambling.
"Does your wife know you are seeing him?" Danny asked.
"No she doesn't. She hasn't talked to him since her mother's funeral." I said.
"What are you going to do? Tell him you knocked his daughter up for a third time and that you are sorry his wife was murdered?" Danny questioned.
"No he wants some information on a case he is working on. Since five-0 arrested the guy he needs my version of what happened" I stated.
"Maybe I should go with you to make sure you both don't leave his office in body bags." Danny retorted.
"Just shut up" I ordered.
I finally headed to DA Jameson's office after dropping off Danny.
Kevin Jameson sat at his desk when I entered his office. His green eyes reminded me so much of his daughter along with the look of annoyment he was displaying.
"McGarrett took you long enough to get here" Kevin said standing up.
"Sorry sir, Five-0 is on a case" I replied
"So I have heard. Any new leads?" he asked.
"Caught two so far. Marissa and the rest of my team are tracking the others." I replied.
"Look let's get down to business." Kevin answered.
Going over everything that had happened of a previous of the case Five-0 had. The guy arrested for murdering one of his co-wokers for under water treasure had gotten his attorney to try and appeal his case. Leaving the DA's office to make sure the case against him was solid. I started to leave when I turned around.
"Look I know you and Marissa still aren't talking but Ty's birthday is next week and I know it would mean a lot to him if he grandpa came." I stated.
"I'll be there. I heard you are going to be a father again" he said staring intently at me.
"You're going to have another grandson. Marissa is a little over five months along" I answered.
"Take care of them will you" he said.
"I will sir" I replied before leaving.
Danny had called and said that HPD hand picked up the one of the body guards driving a stolen car when the HPD pulled him over. Chin and Kono had already started to interrogate him. When I arrived back at HQ Chin and Kono had just got done with the integration.
"Derick said that Ian and Karl are meeting someone at the dock tonight to pick them up at 6." Chin said.
"Did he give you guys anything else?" I asked.
"Nothing boss. He said that Ian and Karl left him in the middle of know where and didn't tell him where they were going. He got his information he gave us from a phone conversation he heard." Kono added.
"He didn't give you guys a dock number or name?" I asked.
"No said that Ian was speaking in some kind of code." Chin said.
"Danny said he and Marissa might have something" Kono said looking back up from her phone.
"I pulled some information on the local docks and I found out that Ian was busted at dock 15. Might be where is going to get picked up" Marissa said displaying the layout of the dock.
"Of course he is going to go there. This guy is stupid doesn't know how to hide his tracks very well" Danny rambled.
"Alright we have 30 minutes till this meet happens. Suit up and call HPD and have them on standby. I want this guy taken down tonight" I ordered.
The dock was empty when the team and HPD arrived. I gave out orders and we all got into position.
Ian and Karl pulled up checking over their shoulders before heading down to the dock. It was only a matter of seconds before we swarmed the two fugitives taking them down instantly. The only one we didn't get was Ian's contact that was supposed to meet him.
(Marissa's POV)
The whole team and Catherine were at dinner at a local restaurant celebrating the capturing of the five fugitives. The beers were flowing and the kids were laughing as Danny and their father continued to fight.
"I was wondering if you and Kono wanted to do a girls day?" Catherine asked.
"I am up for it" I said.
"Good. Hey everything alright?" she asked me.
"Yeah. Wait can I asked you a favor?" I replied.
"Can you run a name for me? If I were to do it at the office it would raise some suspicion" I said.
"What's going?" Cath asked leaning closer.
"It could be nothing but I just want you to run a name for me. And please promise me you won't tell Steve" I answered.
"Fine but Marissa if this is serious I am going to tell him if you don't" Cath argued.
"I will tell him but I want to make sure. I will text you the name later" I replied
"What are you two doing over here?" Steve asked taking his seat next to me.
"Nothing. Just girl talk. Where did Kono run off to?" I answered.
"Chin said she is dating this new guy. Said she was going to call you later about your girls' day out thing" Steve said.
"I want to make a toast." Danny said.
"To catching five stupid criminals" He slurred.
"Cheers" We all said in unison.
The whole table including Ty and Lily were in conversation laughing about funny stories and Danny's intoxicated rants about how much he hated pineapples when I noticed Steve's gaze lingered somewhere else.
"Everything okay" I asked my husband.
"Yeah I just thought I saw someone we knew" he replied not tearing his gaze away from the door.
"I am sure if it was someone we knew they would have came and said hi" I replied getting a sinking feeling in my stomach.
"You're right" he replied before kissing my temple.
(Third POV)
Hiding in the shadows the blonde woman stared at the table watching Steve. He was close to seeing her but she had ducked away just in time. Only a little bit longer and she would make her move.
I know everyone is probably wondering why Marissa is getting more people involved than just telling her husband. But patience. And how was the little throw in of Marissa's dad?
