(Marissa's POV)
My head was throbbing and the baby inside my stomach wouldn't stop moving causing me to get nauseous quickly. I was half way finishing fixing Lily's hair when my stomach began to turn again and I dashed to the restroom.
Emptying the contents of my stomach I felt Steve pull my hair back and rub my back.
"Babe, go back to bed and I will take care of the kids" He said pulling me into his arms and kissing my forehead.
"I will be fine just need some 7up and some crackers." I mumbled.
"No you aren't fine. You are burning up and plus now you are seven months pregnant. Take a load off. Watch some TV and relax. I got the kids today." He replied.
Nodding my head in agreement I pulled back from his embrace and headed upstairs to brush my teeth. 15 minutes later Steve had Ty and Lily ready to go.
"Go say bye to your mom we have to go" Steve said clipping his badge and gun to his belt.
Both kids gave me a quick kiss before heading towards the door.
"Go lie down and call me if you need anything." Steve ordered softly kissing my forehead and pushing me gently back towards the stairs.
I slept for a couple of hours when I heard the front door open. I thought maybe Steve had came back to check on me on his lunch break.
"Hello" I said walking down the stairs.
I was met with no reply as I walked towards the front door I head the floor boards creek behind me but before I had the chance to turn around I was knocked out.
(Steve's POV)
I was in my office going over paper work. I haven't heard anything from Marissa since I had left with the kids this morning. It was hard for her when she got sick when she was pregnant because she couldn't really take anything. I was about to call her when I noticed what time it was and I figured I would surprise her with lunch instead.
I was heading out the glass doors when my phone went off. It was Governor Denning and he wanted to see me right away.
"Hey where do you think you are going?" Danny asked.
"Denning just called said he wants to talk to me right away." I replied.
"Do me a favor will ya? Leave me my damn car." Danny rambled before heading to his office.
I heard Chin and Kono snickered before I left.
Denning's secretary sent me straight into his office. Governor Denning was sitting at his desk in a dark grey suit with his jacket off.
"Sir, you wanted to see me?" I asked.
"Yes, Commander take a seat." He replied.
"I received some very interesting information this morning. I was informed by the FBI that officer Lori Weston did not return home." Denning started.
"Wait a minute. She gave me her letter of resignation and I signed off on it. What do you mean she never made it home?" I asked.
"We have her flight itinerary. There is no record of her boarding that flight. I called you because I was wondering if maybe you knew anything about this." Denning replied.
"That doesn't make since why quit but not leave" I asked.
"I don't but the FBI is sending someone down here to investigate. I would like your teams' cooperation when they arrive. Is that clear Commander?" Denning ordered.
"Yes, sir. How long has she not made contact with anyone back home?" I asked.
"Her parents said they got a call from her two weeks ago but all she told them is she had something to finish and she would be back soon. That's all the information I have right now. When the FBI gets here they should have more." Denning replied.
After leaving Denning's office Danny had text me with case. I was the last to arrive on scene when I finally pulled up. Kono was the first to greet me when I stepped out of my truck.
"Hey boss, you keeping Marissa at home today?" she asked.
"She is really sick" I answered.
"She alright?" Kono asked with concern.
"I think she might have the flu." I replied heading towards Danny and Chin.
"So what do we have?" I asked.
"Male early 20s. He was walking down the block and goes down pours his blood all over the side walk." Chin said.
"Apparently the guy who did this was wearing a hoodie that covered his face. Witnesses didn't even see the weapon." Danny added.
"So we have witnesses but no one who can identify the suspect" I stated.
"Sounds about right. I got HPD driving around to see if they can spot anyone fitting the description." Chin replied.
"Boss, we got some cameras. I will take them to Charlie and see if we can get a good look at this guy." Kono said before taking off.
"So did you pull another cave man act and trap your wife at home?" Danny jabbed.
"No for your information she is sick. I told her to get some rest." I fired back.
"I am sorry man. I can take care of this so you can go take care of her" He replied.
"She doesn't want to be waited on hand and foot. She will probably just sleep and clean the house. But thanks Danny" I replied.
Chin was left with talking to more witnesses while Danny and I headed back to HQ.
As Danny and I were walking in he decided to ask me about the meeting with Denning.
"What did Denning want?" Danny asked.
"Lori is missing" I replied.
"Wait. What?" Danny replied.
"She never made it home so her parents filed a missing persons report on her. No one has seen or talked to her since the day she left 5-0." I stated.
"And now they want to investigate that she is missing after how long? 2 months. What the hell took them so long?" Danny rambled.
"I don't know Danno. But they FBI wants our help to find her" I said walking through the glass doors.
Two FBI agents stood by the smart table with Chin.
"FBI is here to discuss their case" Chin stated.
"I am agent Amelia Somers and this is my partner Jamie Park. We are here to discuss the disappearance of Lori Weston" The short blonde haired woman said sticking her hand out for me to shake.
"I was expecting you. Let's go into the conference room and talk." I said leading the way.
(Marissa's POV)
When I finally came to I groaned when I realized that was duck tapped to one of the dining room chairs. My arms were bound tightly behind my back and my legs were tapped to a chair leg.
The attacker didn't blind fold me or put any tape on my mouth. This was making my assumptions seem that much more true. The person who had been sneaking into the house was the same person who had me tied up to this chair. I heard some moving around in the kitchen but the person was staying out of my view.
"Hello" I said.
I was met with silence.
"Look I don't what you want. But you can obviously see that I am pregnant. I won't stop you from taking anything. Just take what you want and go" I yelled out.
"What I want I know you won't give me" I heard. It was a voice I was very familiar with even though I haven't heard it in a while.
"Lori?" I whispered. I knew I hadn't been wrong when something felt off. Catharine said she would get back to me when she ran her name but I hadn't heard from her.
"Marissa" she said back standing in front of me.
She looked exactly the same except for the crazed look in her green eyes.
"What do you want?" I sneered. God I hated this woman.
"I am just here to claim on what should be mine" she said simply.
"You know Steve isn't going to end things with me to be with you. If he was going to do it he would have. Steve isn't the kind of man to do something he doesn't want to do." I stated.
Before she had the chance to reply the house phone began to ring.
"If I don't answer his call he is going to come and check on me" I stated matter of factly.
She gave me a glare and headed towards the phone when it went to the answering machine.
Hey babe, you are probably still asleep but call me when you get up. I just wanted to see if you needed anything. Don't worry about getting Ty from School Kathy said she has is covered. I will see you later. Love you.
"You aren't going to get him to change his mind" I jabbed.
"Well if he won't choose me on his own then I will just have to take out the competition" Lori sneered before covering my mouth with tape.
(Steve's POV)
Agent Somers and Park gave the team the run down on what they had. From what they had gathered she must be using cash where ever she is staying.
"What about looking into rental car places? They would have asked for her driver's license" Danny suggested.
"We already did that. Her name hasn't came up. We are still digging through more information. All we know is that if she did leave the island it wasn't by plane like she was supposed to." Agent Somers stated.
"Or she didn't leave at all. I mean come on boss she did have the hots for you" Kono added in.
"Commander what is she talking about? Were you involved with Ms. Weston prior to her disappearance?" Agent Park asked.
"No not in that way. She hired by the governor. I am married." I replied holding up my left ring finger.
"Commander if there was anything going on between the two of you now would be the time to say so" Agent Somers persisted.
"She was like a family member. Nothing more. I told her if she ever needed anything she could call me. But other than being coworkers it was nothing else." I replied getting annoyed with what the two were insinuating.
"If you excuse my team and I have a case to finish." I said standing up and heading towards Charlie's work station.
I tried calling Marissa again but both phones kept going to voicemail. It's been 2 hours since I last called and 5 hours since I left this morning. I need to go check on her.
"Charlie what do you got for me?" I asked pocketing my phone.
"I went through the footage and I think I found your guy. But the only thing is I can't get a good look at his face." Charlie said zooming in on the footage.
"Thanks Charlie. Send this up to Kono and I will have her run facial recognition." I said before heading back to my office.
"Can I talk to you about something?" Danny asked stepping into my office and shutting the door.
"Did Marissa ever mention anything to you about things going missing?" Danny asked with hesitance.
"What the hell is going on Danny" I demanded.
"When you were gone for training Marissa kept saying things would go missing. Things like your wedding album and few of your Navy shirts she had in her drawers. She thought maybe you had moved them." Danny went on.
"I leave and you and my wife decided to keep secrets from me. What the hell Danny. Why didn't you bring this up to me before? Why now?" I fired back
"Look I told Marissa that if she thought something was wrong to talk to you. But with this whole Lori thing it got me thinking maybe she is behind it" Danny replied.
"What is with everyone? She may have had been here to babysit us but I trusted her. Why would she break into my house" I asked.
"Kono wasn't off about what she said about Lori having a crush. Lori would follow you around like a lost puppy. But now she is missing and you and Marissa said that you guys thought someone had broken into your house. What if she is behind it?" Danny questioned.
"You are out of your mind. Come one let's see if Kono and Chin came up with anything else." I fired back before heading back into the main area.
"Steve got a hit from face Recon. His name is Chris Owalah. Ran his back ground and it seems like him and our Vic knew each other quite well. They both did some time together for a few years after being busted robbing a liquor store. But here is the catch our vic Tao Oksa severed less time." Chin went over.
"Sounds like our vic was a rat and sold out his partner to get shorter sentence." Danny added.
"I ran Owalah's name and I got an address. He was released from prison a month ago." Kono stepped in.
"Good. Let's go see if he is home. Gear up and lets head out." I ordered.
When we arrived at Owalah's apartment he was completely cleaned.
"Looks like he took off first chance he got. I put out an APB on him." Chin said going over some papers he found.
"He couldn't have gotten that far." I said looking around the room to see if anything seemed out of place.
"Kono when they were arrested was the money collected?" I asked.
"Yeah all 1,550 dollars worth." Kono answered. \
Arriving back at HQ I quickly got into my truck when Danny came and knocked on my window.
"Where are you going?" He asked
"I am going to check on my wife. Is that okay with you?" I asked.
"Yeah man. Give her my best will ya." Danny answered.
"I will. Call me if anything else comes up." I replied before putting my truck in reverse.
(Marissa's POV)
Lori pulled a chair in front on me and sat down. She roughly removed the tape around my mouth cause me to wince.
"You just had to keep throwing in my face that he was yours." Lori hashed out.
"What do you think you are going to accomplish by killing me? He is going to see nothing but red because if you kill me you are killing our unborn child too." I hissed back.
"I will let you have the baby and then when he is here. I will bury you." She shot back
"Do you think my kids will treat you like their mother? They won't because they will know what you did to me." I replied causing her to roughly wrap her hands around my throat.
"Don't test me Marissa. I am going to get what I want" Lori whispered menacingly.
"It was you who broke into the house that night wasn't it?" I asked once she removed her hands.
"I would have stayed around longer if your son didn't wake up. I could have made my move that night but your son had to go and wake the both of you up. I was ready to make him choose me over you because I knew he would have chosen me to keep you safe." She said with a glare.
"If he chose you it wouldn't be for the reasons you wanted. It would be because he wanted to protect his family. He is never going to want you." I taunted.
"You little bitch" She screamed smacking me across the face. She stood behind me with her breath in aggravated pants. I could feel her removing my wedding ring off my finger.
She easily slid it on her ring finger and admired it in the light. The ring belonged to Steve's mother and it had meant the world to me when he had given it to me.
While she stood admiring the ring I heard someone opening the front door.
"Babe are you down here" Steve yelled.
"Steve" I yelled before Lori roughly slammed my head against the table.
I groaned out in pain.
"Marissa" he exclaimed moving towards me holding his gun in his hand.
"Stop I want you to drop your weapon" Lori ordered.
"Lori?" Steve said in shock turning around to look at his ex-employee.
"Put the gun down. I want to talk. Make any move I will shoot her." Lori demanded. Pointing her gun towards my chest for emphasis.
"Alright" Steve complied setting his gun down and kicking it towards her.
"Take a seat." She ordered pointing to an empty chair.
"Lori you have the FBI looking for you" Steve said.
"As soon as I get what I want this will all be over" She said sitting in his lap.
Steve tried not to tense as she sat down. He was going to keep playing her game until he could make a move.
"What do you want?" he asked her casting a glance at me before turning his focus on her.
"You" she whispered kissing his cheek and moving closer to his mouth.
"Explain to me what you have been doing that last two months" Steve demanded.
"I have been watching you." She answered getting up and grabbing the roll of duct tape. She roughly pulled Steve's arms behind them to tape them together.
"I have been waiting to get you alone. And I kept getting close but of course the bitch of your wife always had to get in the way" she continued.
"It was you that night at the restaurant?" Steve asked looking at her.
"It was. You looked so handsome laughing and taking care of your kids. I want that life. And you and I can have it" Lori said kissing his exposed neck causing he to try and fight the tape around his wrist.
"I have two choices for you Steve. The first one is I let her have the baby and after he is born she can move and never come back. Or I shoot her now" Lori said moving towards me again.
"Lori" Steve said his voice becoming stern.
"What is it going to be?" she asked clicking the safety of her gun.
