(Steve's POV)
Lori still had her gun pointed at Marissa's chest waiting for my answer.
"What is it going to be?" Lori demanded again
"I want to know where you have been this whole time?" I demanded trying to keep her distracted.
"I want an answer now and then I will tell you everything you want to know" she fired back.
"Steve" Marissa groaned out.
I could immediately tell something was wrong with her the way she breathed out my name.
"Lori she needs a doctor. There could be something wrong with the baby" I stated.
"It was so easy to make it look like I left the island. I bought a car off a couple and then stayed close by in cheap motel that didn't even ask for my id. And when I knew I wouldn't have anyone looking for me I started to break in." she went on moving away from Marissa to sit down on my lap again.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because you and I had something but you couldn't act on because you are man of honor and you wouldn't cheat on your wife" She answered kissing my cheek.
"We didn't have anything." I shot back
Lori tensed on my lap before she got up and smacked me across the face.
"Time is wasting Steve and your wife's life is in my hands. I want an answer now" she growled.
Marissa let out another grasp before Lori and I noticed her water had broken.
(Danny's POV)
I knew something was wrong when Steve mentioned Marissa wasn't answering the phone. But if something was really wrong Steve would have called to give us heads up.
Chin and Kono were going over more information on our suspect Chris Owalah. Leaving me to finish paper work from a previous case.
"Hey Danny, have you heard from Steve at all?" Chin asked.
"No why?" I replied.
"I tried calling him but his phone just went to voicemail. Kono got a hit on Owalah. He was caught on traffic cam running a red light." He answered.
"Get Kono ready and I will try calling him again." I said.
I knew something was wrong. Calling his phone it automatically went to voicemail. I had even tried calling Marissa's phone and their house phone with no answer.
Calling Steve's cell on last time I left a voicemail. Hey we got a hit on our suspect. Call me when you are on your way. I will text you the details.
I sent the text before leaving my office and heading out with Chin and Kono.
Chris Owalah led HPD on a wild high speed chase down one of the main highways of Waikiki. One of the HPD officers managed to hit the back of his car. He spun out into the center of the highway before his car came to a complete stop.
Chris Owalah was finally in custody and HPD would be escorting him to be booked.
"Hey brah, where is Steve?" Chin asked.
Before I answered I tried Steve's phone again. I knew something was wrong it wasn't like him not to take my calls no matter how busy he was.
"I don't know. I say we do a detour before we head back" I stated clicking Marissa's name on my phone.
"Danny, you don't think they are in trouble do you?" Kono asked.
"If my gut feeling is right then something is going on" I stated heading towards my car.
(Steve's POV)
Marissa's breathes came out labored and her face twisted in pain.
"Steve he is coming now" Marissa whispered.
"I know babe. Just keep calm." I replied listening to Lori move around our kitchen.
"Shut up. I don't want to hear you talk unless it's to give me an answer. The clock is ticking Steve" Lori yelled stepping into the dining room.
"I chose you" I stated looking into her eyes.
"I guess he doesn't love you as much as you thought he does" Lori taunted Marissa.
"Steve don't" Marissa begged with tears streaming down her face.
"I have a few conditions. 1st we need to get Marissa to a hospital, I want to see my son born." I said casting a look at my wife.
"Fine. We will take her but if you try anything I will shoot her" Lori said.
I wasn't going to go anywhere with her I was just buying time to untie my hands. I was going to wait until she was closer to me to make my move. I didn't want to risk Marissa's or our son's life.
I was about to make my move when I heard two cars pull up into our drive way.
"Who the hell did you call" Lori asked advancing towards Marissa.
She roughly gripped her hair and held her gun to her temple.
"You took our phones. You are the one in control" I shot back.
Lori quickly let go of Marissa and headed towards the windows. I made my move and charged at her throwing her to the floor.
Lori wasn't giving up the fight she quickly slammed the gun in her hand across my jaw and backed away from me.
"I knew you were lying to me. We could have done this the easy way." Lori sneered.
I charged at her again knocking her on her back before she forcefully switched our positions. When my back made connection with the floor the wind was knocked out of me. Lori had swung the butt of her gun and hit me on the side of the head.
I was out for a second before becoming aware Lori wasn't on top of me anymore. I heard Marissa scream as a shot when off.
Danny had rushed in and took his opportunity and Lori. Her body hit the ground with sickening thud.
"No, No,No" I yelled racing towards Marissa's body.
She was breathing heavily and her shoulder was pouring out blood.
"Baby, you have to stay with me" I whispered stroking her cheeks and tears poured down them. Danny was cutting the ties off her hands.
"Ambulance is on the way" Danny said putting a hand on my shoulder.
"Help me move her" I say.
Danny helped me move her body from on top of the chair and flat on her back as I kept pressure on her wound.
Kono and Chin walked in after checking the perimeter.
Kono immediately went to Marissa's side and held her hand.
"Steve, he is coming" Marissa groaned
"You have to hold on babe." I replied.
HPD and paramedics arrived in minutes. The paramedics quickly moved us out of the way to attend to Marissa when she cried out in pain.
"Sir how far apart are her contractions?" One of the EMTs asked.
"I don't maybe a few minutes apart." I replied in a haze.
"We might be having this baby in the back of the rig. Let's get her moving" The EMT stated quickly lifting Marissa onto the gurney.
"Steve" Marissa cried out when they had gotten her in the back of the ambulance.
Climbing quickly into the back the EMT was about to shut the door when Danny came up.
"I got this all covered. Take care of them" Danny said.
"Thanks Danno" I said before the doors were slammed shut.
At the hospital Marissa was in a delivery room. The nurses quickly patched up her arm. Luckily it was a through and through and didn't damage anything vital.
Marissa was 8 centimeters when we arrived making it too late for an epidural. She was withering from pain from her shoulder and the contractions.
"Mr. and Mrs. McGarrett. I wanted to talk to you about the risk of your son being born so soon" Dr. Wyatt said stepping into the room.
"What risks?" Marissa asked in a panic.
"He is six weeks early and we aren't sure how developed his lungs are. With all the stress and the trauma you have encountered we are worried for his health." Dr. Wyatt went on.
"But it's possible he can be perfectly fine" I asked squeezing Marissa's hand.
"That is a possibility." Dr. Wyatt said with hesitance.
Marissa was in mid-sentence when she clutched my hand tightly and cried out in pain.
Dr. Wyatt quickly checked her before calling in the nurses.
"Okay Marissa it's going to be time to push. I am going to get scrubbed up and then we are going to meet your son" Dr. Wyatt said before quickly leaving the room.
The nurses moved around the room setting it up for the delivery of our son. The next 15 minutes were a blur. After 4 pushes the wails of our new son was heard in the room.
Marissa had tears in her eyes as the baby was quickly handed to the nurses.
I was escorted out of the room so they could clean Marissa up. I went into the waiting room and found my team.
Danny was the first one out of his chair.
"How are they?" he asked with Kono at his side.
"I am not sure yet." I whispered.
"Brah, her comes the doctor now" Chin said.
I turned around to look at Dr. Wyatt his face seemed at ease when he came up.
"Can I share in front of your group?" he asked.
"Yes they are our family." I said accepting the hug to my side by Kono.
"Your wife is in a lot of pain but we are finally able to give her some pain medicine. As for your son he is doing very well. We might be keeping him for a few days just to run some test. The good news is he is healthy and is breathing well." Dr. Wyatt explained.
I could hear Danny letting out a sigh. My body relaxed after learning both of them were okay.
"Can we see them?" Kono asked.
"Give me a few minutes we are moving Marissa into a new room. But after that I will have one of the nurses bring the baby up as well. Congratulations on your new addition." Dr. Wyatt said shaking my hand.
"Thank you" I said.
Chin and Kono both had smiles on their faces as they each gave me a hug.
"So since you nearly get me shot everyday I suggest that your son should have my name" Danny said with a smirk.
"Real funny but I don't think so buddy." I said pulling him into hug.
A few minutes later Kathy walked into the hospital with Tyler and Lily followed by Kevin Jameson.
"How is she?" Kevin asked stepping up to me first.
"She is in pain but she is fine. They are both good." I replied scooping crying Lily into my arms.
"What's the matter princess" I asked kissing her rosy cheeks.
"Momma" she cried.
"I know lets go see mommy" I said kissing her face once more.
"Is the baby okay?" Ty asked.
"He is. He is with you mom." I said sticking out my hand for him to take.
We all gathered in the room. Marissa looked much better but her face still held a look of panic but once she saw our kids she began to sob.
Ty and Lily both wrapped their arms around their mother as she sobbed into their hair. A few minutes later a nurse along with Malia came in pushing the cart of the new baby.
The kids sat down excited next to their mother on the bed as the nurse wheeled the baby closer. He had a breathing tube in his nose and was wrapped in a blue blanket and hat.
"Why does he have that thing in is nose?" Tyler asked.
"It's to make sure he gets enough air" The nurse said with a smile gently picking him up and putting him in Marissa's arm.
Marissa began to tear up again but she had a smile on her face when he opened his eyes and let out a yawn.
"I still think he should be named after his favorite uncle" Danny said with smirk.
"What is his name going to be, Marissa?" Kono asked.
"Liam Daniel" Marissa said.
"Really Daniel?" I asked.
"I like it plus it's a strong name" Marissa argued.
"So should I be afraid that he is going to beat me in football too" Chin joked.
Everyone let out a laugh. Everyone started to take off except for Kathy and Kevin. Kevin would keep the kids tonight and Kathy would bring them back in the morning to visit.
Danny waited out in the hall way to give me an update.
"I have CSU cleaning up the place." Danny said.
"Thank you. Is she gone?" I asked.
"Yes, the FBI have her body. They are going to want to talk to you. But I can only keep the vultures away for so long." Danny stated.
"I can handle them but I want them to stay away from Marissa. If you hear anything else can you give me a heads up?" I asked casting a glance at my wife's room.
"No problem babe. So Liam Daniel huh?" Danny said with a smug look.
"Don't let it go to your head" I said sending him a smile and heading back to my family.
Lily was stared wide eyed at the new family addition as he sucked greedily at his bottle. Picking Ty up from the bed and setting him on my lap I wrapped my arm around my wife's shoulders and kissed her temple.
Right now I didn't care about what the FBI had to say about Lori's death. I almost lost two more important people and I wasn't going to leave their side any time soon.
