Jonny whizzed through the seemingly empty roads of London; completely in control of the Range Rover he was driving. As the track changed on his phone, connected up to the car via Bluetooth, his eyes lit up; briefly glancing at his wife who sat beside him.
'It's all about you,
It's all about you,
It's all about you baby...'
'Maconie' interrupted Jac, to which her husband ignored
'Yesterday, you asked me something I thought you knew.
So I told you with a smile, 'it's all about you.'
Then you whispered in my ear and you told me too,
Said 'You make my life worthwhile, it's all about you' he continued, tapping his hand on the steering wheel to the rhythm of the song.
'Pull over, I'm about to throw up!' urged the woman jokingly
'You can laugh Naylor, but the impact you've had on my life is positively huge' explained Jonny to which Jac made gagging noises 'How old are you, two?' was the nurses response before continuing to sing,
'And I would answer all your wishes, if you asked me to.
But if you deny me one of your kisses, don't know what I'd do
So hold me close and say three words, like you used to do-'
'Jonny' uttered the red-haired woman, placing her hand on top of his 'Thank you...'
What for? Being a moron?'
'For being you. And for this- I think you're right, we need a break'
'Of course I'm right. When is Maconie ever wrong? You're a brilliant mum Jac; believe me, but looking after a baby is no easy task. And I'm allowed to treat my wife, right?'
The word 'wife' still seemed to make Ms Naylor's eyes explode with pleasure.
'Mr and Mrs Naylor' instructed Jonny as the receptionist took their details. After several moments of silence, with just the ticking from the clock for distraction, the seemingly wordless woman spoke.
'Here's your key. You're on floor 5, room 32. Any problems just use the phone to call reception'
'Thank you' he smiled before waltzing down the corridor carrying their cases, leaving Jac to trail behind him checking her phone to make sure her daughter was alright.
'This is us!' announced the Scotsman whilst checking the room number on the key he had been given. Sliding the key he twisted it tentatively praying it would open; to which it did, revealing a cosy country hotel room- of high quality. Jonny slid the cases in and then scooped his light wife up in his arms.
'JONNY!' she squealed, like an over excited child 'Put me down you fool'
Her husband jiggled her in his arms playfully as he ran into the room, kicking the door shut behind them, and then tipping her onto the king-sized bed. As the pair's eyes locked they embraced in the first passionate act in weeks where they couldn't be interrupted- suddenly their state of tiredness vanished.
The next morning, after an evening of well-deserved love making, the married couple woke up entangled in each arms. It was the latest either of them had woken up in months; no alarm clocks, screaming babies or bleepers to disturb their peaceful slumber.
'Good morning Mrs Maconie' whispered the male, brushing her hair out of her face and smoothing it down 'You won't believe this but it's ten thirty eight'
'Can we lie here, just for a bit longer?'
'Of course we can' he replied. Jac lay here head back on Jonny's chest and closed her eyes again 'We can do anything you want darlin'. This is your weekend Jac'
Booted up in their country gear and thin layers of clothing, the married pair explored the beauty countryside of Bedfordshire. Jac was dressed in cream jeans, a grey long sleeved t-shirt and a dark blue body warmer. Jonny wore his denim jeans, polo-shirt and red body warmer with a tweed country flat-cap. His wife at first had thought he was joking when buying the hat a handful of months before but she too agreed eventually that it did suit him rather well. But Naylor had put her foot down when Jonny had suggested buying Flick a baby sized one.
'Can you smell that, fresh air!' he teased whilst holding his wife close 'Just what our lungs are in need of'
'You do know that's a myth? But you're right, it's beautiful out here'
'When Flick's a bit older I'd love to bring her here and see her marvel at nature...watch her face light up as she watches the rabbits run around'
'I hope she's okay with Elliott'
'Of course she's okay with Elliott. If there was any problem he'd have called us right away'
'Yes-Yes, okay. Please tell me I'm not the only one missing her?'
'Not at all. But Jac please let go, just for today' he urged. Slowly she nodded her head and carried on walking in her husband's arms. 'Who'd have thought it ay, the great Jac Naylor turning soft' he teased- Jac jokingly dug her elbow into his ribcage whilst trying not to smile.
A day later and Jac could have been described as racing out of the car as Jonny pulled up outside Elliot's house. Her husband on the hand hung back for several moments enjoying the silence that would soon be undoubtedly pierced by their beautiful daughter.
'Look who's here Felicity' spoke Mr Hope in a high-pitched voice whilst cradling his granddaughter in the hall way 'It's mummy' he held the baby's hand gently and waved it to the surgeon.
'I can't tell you how good it is to see you' whispered the nearly overwhelmed mother taking hold of her baby 'Has she behaved herself Elliott?'
'Good as gold'
'Did I hear my daughter's been as good as gold?' questioned the Scotsman as he entered the house, closing the door behind him 'I never expected anything else!...hey, did I darlin'?' cooing over the child Jonny stroked Flick's head with his big hands.
'So how was the break?' the surgeon asked, as Jonny trotted outside to put their child in the car.
'It was good, I think we both needed it; to get away and enjoy being a couple again. And you were right Elliott. What I'm doing is in the best interest of my family. This way I-we get the best of both worlds'
'I told you, didn't I? I know you don't want to hear it Jac but I'm incredibly proud of you' he encouraged before leaning in and kissing the young woman's cheek 'Now go on, don't keep your family waiting. I'll see you first thing tomorrow morning'
