Terrible things

By the time I was your age I'd give anything

To fall in love truly, was all I could think

That when I meet your mother, the girl of my dreams

The most beautiful woman that I'd ever seen

"By the time I was your age, I would have given anything to fall in love." Fang told his son, who was 13 years old. The boy frowned a little, his black hair, identical to his fathers, falling in his face. "Your mother who was the most beautiful woman who ever walked this earth." Fang started to get more emotional as he went on.

She said, "Boy can I tell you a wonderful thing?"

I know I shouldn't say this but I really believe

I can tell by your eyes that you're in love with me.

"Fang can I tell you a wonderful thing?" max asked fang when they were young. "I can tell you love me, and I love you too." Max's chocolate brown eyes looking warmly at her Fang.

Fang remembered how max first told him she loved him, and how she was right that he loved her.

Now son I'm only telling you this

Because life can do terrible things.

"Nick, I'm telling you this because the world is cruel, and can do terrible things." He explained to his son. Nicks eyes widened a bit knowing his father was going somewhere very sad with this.

Now, most of the time we'd have too much to drink

And we'd laugh at the stars and we'd share everything

Too young to notice, and too dumb to care

Love was a story that couldn't compare.

Fang and max sat on the roof of their house looking at the stars with beer in one hand each other's in the other. They whispered things that they wouldn't tell anyone else under the starlit sky. The love they shared was true and couldn't compare to any other.

I said, "Girl, can I tell you a wonderful thing?

I made you a present with paper and string.

Open with care now, I'm asking you, please.

You know that I love you, will you marry me?"

Fang got down on one knee and asked max to marry him. "I love you, max. Will you marry me?"

Now, son, I'm only telling you this

Because life can do terrible things

You'll learn, one day, I'll hope and I'll pray,

That God shows you differently.

"Now remember son, I'm only telling you this because life can do terrible things," fang continued. "But I hope that god will show you different."

She said, "Boy can I tell you a terrible thing?

It seems that I'm sick and I've only got weeks.

Please, don't be sad now, I really believe,

You were the greatest thing that ever happened to me."

"I asked your mother, max, to marry me one day. She told me that she was very sick, and only had a few weeks to live. She told me I shouldn't be sad and that I was the best thing that happened to her." A couple tears rolled down fangs cheek.

Slow, so slow I fell to the ground on my knees.

So don't fall in love, there's just too much to lose

If you're given the choice, then I beg you to choose

To walk away, walk away, don't let her get you.

I can't bear to see the same happen to you.

"Nick, never fall in love, your heart and sanity is too much to lose. You have the choice so walk away, just walk away from her. Don't let her get to you." Fang tried to get his young boy to understand how bad it was to lose the person who you love more than life it self. Nick nodded only to get his dad to continue.

Now, son, I'm only telling you this

Because life can do terrible things

"Again nick, I'm only telling you all this because life can and will do terrible things," Fang finally making sure the message went though that the world was a horrible place. "There are no fairy tale endings. Understand?"

"Yes dad, I understand." Nick said his eyes, just like his mothers, showing sadness and uncertainty.
