Though he is free, he has no memory of his past lives. He is a blank slate, a wild card, free to ride the wheel of reincarnation as every other mortal. As the man that was the shade grows old, he realizes with an old sadness, that he was not able to help his friends as much as he could have.
Not understanding what he meant by this, the old man went to the mountains and meditated, the objective and subjective becoming one, releasing his identity, his self into nothingness. Now free to discover what he was the man becomes a shade, a shadow of Link, bound to no one, free to be with those he loves. Free to live, forever as he sees fit.
