Chapter 2:
Dakota's POV
It's dark out as we walk towards the beach. The water of the lake sparkles slightly in the moonlight. I relax. The water always seems to make me feel relaxed even after a rough battle. Drew has her fingers entertwined with mine while we walk down the beach.
"This is nice." She states softly.
I nod. "Yep. It is."
She glances down at her feet as she walks. "So, that was some climbing wall fight this morning."
"Yeah. It deffinately was." I rub my chest again with my other hand.
She glances at me. "You ok?"
I nod. "Yeah. Just a small bruise from when Luca knocked me off." I reach down and brush my hand across the surface of the water. Water runs up my arm to my chest. There's a small tingling feeling in my chest before the bruise disappears and the pain evaporates. I shake the water off of my hand.
Drew smiles at me. "That's so cool."
I smile back. "Thanks."
She nods slightly as she stares out across the water. The water ripples slightly. The moonlight shines down on Drew's face. I have to admitt, she did look very beautiful in the moonlight. She looks back at me. "This is just very romantic. Don't you think?"
I nod in agreement. "Yeah. It is." I stare at the water for a moment before looking back at her. We stare into each other's eyes silently.
Slowly, Drew stands up on her tiptoes until we're only an inch apart. I brush my lips across hers. She closes her eyes as she presses her lips to mine. I wrap my arms around her; She wraps her arms around my neck. We kiss for a couple moments, not caring if anyone was there.
Gemma's POV
I crouch in some bushes by the beach. A little way in front of the bushes I'm hiding in are Drew and Dakota kissing. Anger flashes through my head as I watch them. It seemed like forever before they finally stop kissing. They walk back towards the cabins hand in hand. I follow them from the bushes silently. As soon as they reach the Aphrodite cabin, Dakota pecks Drew on the cheek before walking towards the Poseidon cabin. I could hear Drew sigh before walking into the Aphrodite cabin.
I step out of the bushes and march up to the Aphrodite cabin. It was dark out and the conch shell in the distance signaled lights out, but I really didn't care. I wanted to give Drew a peice of my mind. I knock loudly on the door. I wait silently.
After a few moments, Saoirse opens the door with a yawn. She looks me over. "You do know that it's lights out, right?"
I nod. "Y-Yeah." I stammer, trying to hide the jealousy from her.
She narrows her eyes slightly. "Why are you here then?"
"Well, um..." I stutter. I try to think of a way around her. "I-I'd like to s-speak to Drew."
"Why?" Saoirse presses.
"Um... well... it has to do with... um..."
She stares at me silently. My cheeks turn a light shade of red. She smiles slightly as she studies my face. She steps outside and closes the door behind her. "I could take a guess, but I think it would just make you a little more embarrassed. Am I right?"
I nod in defeat. "Yeah."
"Then why don't you tell me then?" She sits down on the top step. I sit down next to her.
"I kind of wanted to chew Drew out I guess." I confess.
"Why? She was just on a walk with..." Then realization crosses her face, and she smiles even more. "This has to do with Dakota, doesn't it?" I nod again. "You like him don't you?"
I nod again. "Yeah. I do."
Saoirse smiles and places an arm around my shoulders. "Well, I'll just say this. You have more of a chance than Drew does."
I stare at her like she's crazy. "How? Drew's very beautiful. I'm not."
"But Drew hasn't seen what I have." Saoirse replies calmly. She smiles slightly.
"And what have you seen?" I ask cautiously.
Saoirse glances around then looks back at me. She leans forward slightly. "I've seen the looks that Dakota's shot your way. He likes you, but doesn't know how to show it."
"Really?" I ask, not believing any of it.
Saoirse nods. "Yeah. Really. He's very secretive about it, but he does like you. I know it."
I smile. "Alright, but what am I supposed to do now?"
Saoirse just smiles at me. "That, Gem, you'll have to figure out on your own. Now, go back to your cabin. You need to get some sleep before you figure out what to do with what I just old you." She then stands up and walks back into the Aphrodite cabin.
I sit there on the cabin's steps for a moment longer before I walk back to the Hermes cabin. I slip in silently and climb into my bed. I lay there silently, feeling like I'll never fall asleep while thinking about what Saoirse just told me. After a couple minutes, I finally fall asleep with one thought running around my brain. How am I going to get Dakota to talk to me?
