Hey guys! I got back from my trip last week and I'm leaving again tomorrow! The only downside is no internet...Anyways I just want to say thank you to the Anon reviewers and I hope you enjoy this chapter.
Emily, Morgan, and JJ had spent a little over an hour in Dr. Miscont's office. This was mostly because the good doctor's explanation had been so full of medical jargon that after he had finished explaining Derek had asked him to "explain it in a way that even stupid people like him could understand" and the doctor had had to retell it way more simply. It pretty much came down to this:
Emily's body had not responded to the Chemotherapy as well as they had hoped, which meant that her body was still producing cancer cells. As more Chemo was just expected to have the same results they would have to go in and surgically remove the cancer. This was considered a serious operation and she would have to spend as little as two weeks in the hospital. Emily had jokingly replied, "well at least I'm rich and have good insurance so it's not too much of an issue," but they had all noticed how forced it was.
After discussing dates with the doctor (surgery dates not romantic ones) they had decided the sooner the better and had made her an appointment for just under a month from then. She would still be coming in for Chemo three times a week and they had booked a couple of appointments to work out the finer details of the operation and so that they could run more tests.
When they finally made it out of the hospital they had gone back to Emily's apartment in silence though JJ had half-laughed when she noticed the name the apartment was under. When they were finally seated around her sparsely furnished but cluttered living room JJ looked up at Emily and seemed to loose it. She launched herself at the sick brunette and wrapped her arms around her as she started bawling. Emily just rubbed her back and murmured words of comfort to her before JJ sat back and exclaimed, "I'm such a horrible friend! I should be comforting you not the other way around! You are the one that has...is..you know!"
Emily just gave a dark chuckle and replied, "This has been my reality for the last five months I'm kind of used to it now. It makes sence that you would react more strongly seeing as you were just introduced to the idea and did not really have any time to prepare yourself. With no experience in this situation you are sure to react worse to it then someone who has been exposed to it for a longer period of time."
JJ felt a small smile tug at her lips as she semi-mockingly asked, "Emily Prentiss did you just profile me?"
Emily felt her first genuine smile in quite a while tug at her lips and heard Morgan chuckle behind her. "Maybe I did, maybe I didn't. You will never have any proof."
At that JJ actually started to laugh and as she caught Derek's eye over Emily's shoulder she knew that it was the first time in a while that either he or Emily had laughed or even smiled. She hated to ruin the relaxed mood but she had a question she needed to ask, "Emily, are you going to tell the rest of the team? Because I really think you need to and with Morgan and myself already knowing they are going to figure out that something is up soon. And they are also really worried about you."
Emily sighed, "I don't know. You are right and I do feel bad for worrying them but I know I would worry them even more if they knew about this."
Morgan spoke up for the first time. "Em, I really think you should tell them. You need a stronger support system and they are your family, they deserve to know."
Emily thought about their arguments for several long minutes before she sighed again. "Okay, I will tell them." She held upa hand to stop JJ and Derek's exclamations, "But not until after my surgery. I don't want to worry them even more. So they will know, but in a month. I promise."
JJ and Morgan exchanged glances and nodded. Though they did not fully agree with her decision they would abide by it. They weren't worreid about her backing out, Emily had made a promise and she never broke a promise to her family.
Wow I think that was one of the longest chapter I wrote. And I would like to apoligize for being one of those authors I despise myself that take forever to update. I tried to add some more humour to this chapter to combat the lack of anything actually happening. Once again I am sorry for any mistakes regarding Breat Cancer treatment and please read and review.
