"Do you realize how serious that stunt you pulled could have been? You put the lives of several civilians and my officers at risk!" said Chief Vick.

Shawn winces. Chief realized he was taking this a lot more seriously then he usually took being yelled at. No smart ass comments, nothing. But she didn't know why.

"Yeah, Chief I... I won't be doing something that risky again in a long while. I would say ever, but that's not guaranteed. If Jules... or anyone had gotten hurt..." his voice trails off. Chief's eyes soften. That's why. Detective O'Hara. Shawn was finally realizing the repercussions of his actions because of his crush in Juliet. The thought put a well hidden smile on her face.

"You're excused Mr. Spencer, but please be more careful in the future. Your luck might not last forever."

"Yeah," Shawn nodded as he shoved his hands in his pockets, and quickly left the office.

Chief's words rung in his ears.

"Your luck might not last forever."

She was right and that's what scared him. He led a charmed life, but not all people did. Especially not Lassie... divorced, his girlfriend sent to Miami, and Lassie had to deal with him. Hmm... Maybe he should go easy on Lassie for a while? Nahh, Lassie face needed some excitement, and Shawn offered that. He-wait. Chief Vick's words. Yeah, OK.

If anyone had gotten hurt there, if he'd been wrong, it would have been his fault. If Jules had gotten hurt, it would have been on his shoulders. It was then that he made a promise with himself to keep her safe. The he realized he'd subconsciously been doing that already. (Scary Sherry Anyone?) He knew she could hold her own, but he would still try. And it was then, because of the repercussions of his actions, that he realized he was in love with Juliet O'Hara. Yes, Love. Because nothing else could make him feel like this, and he wouldn't trade it for the world.
