No, you're eyes aren't deceiving you. I'm updating this story. Finally, we get to see the meeting between Spike and Elena.

Chapter 2:

Elena stood in front of the mirror, looking herself over. She had changed into a nice looking yet casual shirt, having no idea what to wear to this Bronze place. Though it sounds like it doesn't matter. She thought, remembering what Buffy had told her about it after they had said goodbye to Xander and Willow.

There was a knock on her door. "Come in." She called, turning around even though she already knew it was Jeremy. One of the few perks of being a vampire was the ability to recognize someone by their unique smell and heartbeat, which was surprisingly helpful at times.

"You look nice." Her brother told her. She smiled at him in thanks. "I just wanted to see how you were doing with… you know." He asked.

She knew he was referring to her craving for blood. "I'm fine, Jeremy." There was the familiar burning sensation in her gums and stomach pangs that meant she needed blood, but it was so faint she knew she could hold it off long enough not to ruin their night with Buffy and her friends. At least I hope. She thought, giving him a reassuring smile.

He nodded. "Just, be careful, alright?"

"I will. It's not like I kill people, Jer, or have any intentions of ruining the new life we're trying to create." She said seriously. "Besides, it's not like this is Mystic Falls. How dangerous can it be at night?" She added, her tone lighter than before.

Just then Buffy chose to appear in the doorway. "Are you two ready?" She asked. They nodded, and followed their cousin downstairs and out of the house.

-BtVS/VD-

Elena's first impression of the Bronze was that Xander's description fit it perfectly. A live band played- called Dingo's Ate My Baby- and on a large dance floor in front of the stage it seemed like most of Sunnydale High's student body and even some college aged kids danced- quite intimately- under multi-colored lights.

Her and Jeremy followed Buffy over to one of the many small tables where Xander and Willow sat.

"You guys made it!" Willow exclaimed as they sat down.

"So what do you guys think of Sunnydale so far?" Xander asked.

"It's nice." Jeremy said. Elena nodded.

It continued like that for awhile; Xander, Willow, and Buffy would ask Elena and Jeremy questions about what it was like in Mystic Falls and they would answer to the best of their ability. They were careful to keep the supernatural aspects out, and learned quite a few interesting facts about Sunnydale.

Meanwhile, Elena could feel the need for blood worsen, and she suddenly realized she wouldn't be able to hold feeding off for much longer, not if she wanted to slip and kill someone.

She caught Jeremy glancing at her from the corner of the eye, and could tell he knew she needed blood. He gave her a look that said 'Go, I'll cover for you'. She gave him a grateful look in return, glad he had accepted her being a vampire enough to make excuses.

"Excuse me." She told the others before getting up and leaving the Bronze in a hurry.

Jeremy watched his sister as she quickly left. As much as he wished she wasn't a vampire, he couldn't hate her for it; they were siblings, and the only family each other had besides Buffy and Joyce.

He turned around to see the others looking at him.

"Is she ok?" Buffy asked. He nodded.

"She just need some fresh air, you know? She'll be back in a minute." He lied. "So are there many deaths here in Sunnydale?" He continued, remembering how big the main cemetery looked when they had passed it when they first arrived. Almost bigger than the one in Mystic Falls.

"A few. Mostly caused by 'barbecue-fork to the neck'." Xander said. "Then again, gangs on PCP have been linked to a couple." He added as an afterthought.

Jeremy felt his eyes widen at the mention of a barbecue fork being a leading cause of death in this town. The sheer ridiculousness of it made him want to start laughing, but it also made him suspicious. A barbecue fork would leave two puncture wounds, like a set of fangs would. Could Sunnydale have vampires? He wondered.

Before he could inquire further, the subject had changed. He did his best to keep up, but a part of his mind was still suspicious of the possible vampire problem.

Elena wandered away from the Bronze, looking for a fairly deserted area so no one would notice what she was doing. Somehow, she wound up in the nearest cemetery.

As she walked in between the rows of gravestones, she kept alert for anyone who may be taking a late night stroll. She honestly hated having to get blood like this, but knew it was the only sensible option if she wanted to keep her full strength; it wasn't like she could just stick blood bags in the refrigerator. That would raise too many questions from Joyce and Buffy, questions she really didn't want to face. Or a trip to the nearest mental asylum.

The rustling of fallen leaves made her halt, and she turned towards the source to see a woman maybe a year or two older then her heading in her direction. She quickly bridged the distance between them. The woman smiled and opened her mouth to say something, probably to ask if she could help, but Elena cut her off.

"Stay still and don't scream." She compelled. The woman's eyes glazed slightly though she had a confused look on her face. Elena took a deep breath and let her face change before biting into the woman's neck.

The hot, sweet taste of blood filled her mouth, and she sucked it greedily, listening carefully to the woman's heart to know when to stop.

"Well, this is interesting." A British voice behind her said, causing her to halt abruptly.

-BtVS/VD-

Spike had originally meant to just explore the town, get an idea of what it was like, perhaps snack on a couple of people and get a glimpse of the latest Slayer. He certainly hadn't expected to run into what he did.

He had decided to take a short cut through the cemetery to what appeared to be the only mildly interesting place in Sunnydale, knowing whoever the new Slayer was that she would be in either one of those two places. The scent of blood however momentarily distracted him. Out of curiosity he followed it to a brunette girl who looked about 18 and obviously a vampire by the way she looked like she was biting into the woman's neck.

"Well, this is interesting." He said, watching as the girl let go of the woman and spun around to face him. Involuntarily, he felt his eyes widen as he took in the girl's face.

The whites of her eyes were a deep blood red, and the veins around the eyes stood out prominently. What the bloody hell is she? He wondered. If it weren't for the tiny fangs he could spot he would assume she was some sort of demon- even then he wasn't ruling out the possibility that she was.

The two of them stared at the other for a few seconds longer, the bleeding woman forgotten momentarily. Then the girl must have come to her senses because she turned around and looked directly in the woman's eyes.

"You're going to forget everything about this. If anyone asks, you were attacked by a wild animal. Now go home." He heard her say, and watched in amazement as the woman got up with a dazed look, pressing a hand to her neck, and walked off. When the woman was out of sight, the girl spun back around to face him.

This time her face was human. Her eyes were a dark chocolate brown, and the veins had faded back into the slight natural tan skin that the girl had. He briefly looked over the rest of her; she had stick straight dark brown hair and a nice figure. He wouldn't lie, she was pretty.

They stood there in silence, each waiting for the other to say or do something. Finally, he decided to ask the question that'd been bugging him ever since he spotted her.

"What the bloody hell are you? Some sort of demon?" He asked.

She hesitated in answering. "Why?" She asked cautiously.

"Well, not many girls- or things- I know can shift their faces so the whites of their eyes are blood red and you can suddenly see their veins. So, again, what are you?" Spike elaborated.

It took the girl a few minutes to answer. "Vampire. Now, who are you?"

He scoffed. "You can't be a vampire. Vampires look like this." He said, letting his face shift to the demon's briefly before changing it back, noticing the confusion, shock, and maybe even a little fear on the girl's face. "You don't look like any vampire or demon that I've ever come across. And the name's Spike." He added.

"You don't look like any vampire I've met either." The girl admitted. Her eyes widened suddenly and realization crossed her face.

Spike stared at her, and then it hit him. "Oh, you've got to be bloody kidding me!" He groaned. "What's next, two different kinds of werewolves?" He asked rhetorically, throwing his hands up and glaring at the sky where he imagined the Powers were.

He glared at the Powers a bit longer before turning back to the girl.

"What's your name?" He asked having calmed down slightly from the realization.

"Elena." She replied. He noticed how all throughout their exchange she hadn't relaxed and kept looking like she was ready to defend herself at a moment's notice. Smart.

"Well, Elena, maybe I'll see you around." He told her before turning away and walking back to the abandoned warehouse he was sharing with Dru and a few other vamps, replaying the fact there were two different kinds of vampires over and over.

-VD/BtVS-

Elena caught up with Jeremy and the others just as they were leaving the Bronze. They didn't ask much about where she'd been, for which she was grateful- she really don't know what she would say, the events in the graveyard replaying in her head.

She couldn't believe there was more than one kind of vampire- one she had no clue existed until tonight.

Her thoughts turned towards the vampire- Spike. He was very… good looking, she'd admit, but there was something about him that screamed 'danger' and reminded her of what Damon had been like when he'd first came to Mystic Falls.

She told herself that's why she couldn't get him out of her mind- she was worried about what he might do, if it would affect either Buffy, Jeremy, Joyce, Willow or Xander.
