BIRTHDAY ONE SHOT FOR SHIZUO.

Hisoné was missing again, but unlike the last time she got lost she had remembered to call him beforehand.

Shizuo was taking a smoke outside on break from the cold weather.

Tom was standing there flipping through his phone for their next client when the older man halted his button pressing.

As Shizuo noticed he asked "Something wrong Tom?"

"No something just came up." Tom smiled "Let's go, I'm sure you're pretty riled up about her disappearance again."

Shizuo blinked behind his blue shades almost surprised that Tom noticed.

"You can tell?"

"Shizuo... you've smoked half of your cigarettes in the last twenty minutes."

Taken aback he dropped the cigarette accidentally. He hadn't even realized he'd been smoking way too frequently.

"Shit. I'll have to buy a new pack soon." He muttered with a groan.

"It's what you get for scaring your girlfriend. Is she giving you the cold shoulder?"

"More like avoiding the issue."

Tom chuckled at his blunt honesty.

"What did you do? Trash her apartment? Ask her to go steady with you?"

Shizuo reacted to the word 'steady.' His whole body stiffened at the word which made Tom freeze.

"No way. You asked the question." Tom gaped in bewilderment.

Shizuo ran a hand through his blond hair in confirmation.

"Shizuo. You're done for, you know her type." Those were Tom's parting words before he went to grab them some drinks. "Once I get refreshments tell me the details."

Shizuo nodded and sat on the nearby bench obediently waiting for Tom's return. From an outsider's perspective the blond bartender looked even more irritated than usual.

Celty had already heard the situation from Simon who had eavesdropped on their conversation earlier on.

As the Black Rider made her way towards Shizuo, the blond looked up slightly relieved to see the woman clad in black. "Celty, what's up?"

"I heard about your dilemma. She typed. About Hisoné.

"I knew it was a stupid move considering she's a flighty type of person. But she must have known there's nothing good about being with me."

Celty was in awe at this new side of Shizuo. To think even he had these type of worries. After what happened with Saika in which they had tried to 'love' him with their blades even a monster like Saika was to scared to love Shizuo Heiwajima and yet this young girl Hisoné Matsuda could love the strongest man in Ikebukuro without batting an eyelash.

She was awfully different from every other women Shizuo had been in contact with in the past twenty five years of his life.

To think a nineteen year old girl could change him so much was unbelievable, almost supernatural.

"I knew she hated being tied down but then I asked if we could go steady and she just... froze like the world was about to end." Shizuo explained to Celty.

He had brought up the question to her when they were in her apartment in which he prepared the items to show he was serious, but she just sat still as a statue at his question.

She had responded at the time. "Sorry, can you let me think about it?" and left the apartment leaving him on his own in her bare apartment.

After that she hadn't come to find him and he had no idea where that directionally challenged person would go to.

"It's already been two weeks since then and she's still is nowhere to be found." Shizuo finally revealed with an exasperated sigh.

You're scared that she'll reject you.

"I am" He answered "But it seems like there's no hope for a good answer from her."

Just as he muttered those words something collided with the top of his head with a loud THUD .

Of course it wasn't much to hurt him but it did make him turn around.

"You really are an idiot, Shizuo."

A new female voice intervened as she wrapped her arms around his neck from behind. He could feel the heat emitted from her body warmth, but he could also detect the sweet but faint scent of flowers and rain on her person.

He'd recognized that scent anywhere. "Hisoné where have you been?"

"Making preparations." She replied cheerfully.

But then in a more sulking tone. "You're really impatient."

"Do you know how long it took to find my apartment again?"

Shizuo frowned "Why would you need to do that?"

A thing most people should know was that Hisoné was so directionally challenged that she rented a new apartment pretty much every day because she couldn't find the original apartment she rented first. She probably had rented an apartment in almost every part of Ikebukuro because of her lack of direction.

"You didn't stay to hear my final answer." She breathed into the shell of his ear.

"SO WHAT IS YOUR ANSWER?!" He roared pissed as hell.

He could no longer take the anticipation.

She laughed at his childish anger, but took his left hand into her own. He still couldn't see her face when she did this he could feel the colder temperature of her hands but there was something colder on her ring finger.

His heart froze as he realized what she meant in her 'answer'

Hisoné kissed his cheek and murmured "I couldn't decide on a present for you so I decided my answer would be your gift."

"Is this... a yes?" Shizuo hesitantly asked and he turned around and stood up to get a better look at her expression.

She was smiling widely in happiness showing him the ring on her left ring finger.

"What do you think?" She answered back revealing bright violet eyes at his shocked expression. "You really don't have any confidence do you?"

"Geez Shizuo it's the first time anyone's ever proposed to me, you can't expect me to give you an answer right away."

She reprimanded with a pout in acute annoyance. "But I think no matter what, my answer would have been yes. I don't mind being married to you."

In the middle of her rant Shizuo had already lost all reason and grabbed her into his arms. She shrieked jokingly with happiness. Shizuo's usual stoic expression broke revealing a new happy with joy expression that was unlike him that Celty knew:

Only Hisoné could make him feel that way.

"YOU"RE SURE" Shizuo stressed "Are you really saying yes?"

She pressed her lips to his in a deep kiss with tongue involved just to make her point.

"I'm saying yes, you big oaf." She reassured the older man kissing his forehead as he still held her in his arms.

"Took you long enough." Shizuo sighed in annoyance. "TWO FUCKING WEEKS. JUST TO ANSWER MY PROPOSAL?!"

She averted her gaze in embarassment mumbling something under her breath. "Yuf levt de vin im my avbartmend."

"WHAT?" He responded.

She blushed a crazy shade of red in embarrassment "YOU LEFT THE RING IN MY APARTMENT! BUT I DIDN"T KNOW WHICH APARTMENT YOU LEFT IT IN."

That made Shizuo stop for a moment before he realized what she was actually saying.

"You. couldn't. find. your. APARTMENT. That was why IT TOOK YOU TWO WEEKS TO GIVE ME AN ANSWER?!"

"Well what do you expect I don't know how to get back to my apartment!" She pouted "Do you know how long it took to find the right apartment again?"

Shizuo sighed exhausted at his own needless worry.

So the only reason why she had been missing was because she was looking for the ring he left behind in her apartment. He should've known that she wouldn't know how to find her apartment again.

It was relief though that it wasn't because she had gotten lost and not because she didn't want to marry him. Celty typed Congratulations you two. I'll leave you two alone. before taking her leave quietly; it would be best to leave Shizuo with Hisoné for the moment.

"Arigatou" Hisoné mouthed with a smile as Celty backed away getting on her familiar.

She refocussed her attention towards Shizuo once more who seemed a little spaced out as if he still couldn't believe her answer. Luckily Tom had been the one to notify Hisoné of Shizuo's location knowing Shizuo would be out of it unless Hisoné was the one to console him. Tom would ask for the details later, but he chuckled and murmured to himself. "I'll let him skip work for today."

Hisoné mentally thanked Tom for telling her but...

It was kind of funny, to be honest.

To think Shizuo could get so riled up because she wouldn't reply to his messages. Just to add fuel to the fire she began. "My answer isn't your only gift."

Shizuo frowned looking up at the young woman in his arms.

"I also" Hisoné took something out of her pocket. "wanted to retrieve this"

She revealed to him the other ring that he had along with hers in the box.

"You can't expect me to wear this if you don't" She answered. The larger silver band made for him was in her hands. "So will you wear it?"

"I guess you're not letting me back out." Shizuo sighed with a tired smile.

"Nope," She cheekily grinned tightening her grip around his neck affectionately. "You're in it for life. I'm not letting go of you, Shizuo Heiwajima."

Shizuo couldn't keep the tiny smile on his face at her confident statement. He set her down gently onto her feet once again so he could slide the ring onto his ring finger and to properly look at her.

She was dressed in a casual maroon dress that went to her knees and black lace up ballet flats. Her messenger bag hung on her left shoulder as if she was going out to a party.

Her hair was done up into a bun with a silver barrette in her raven black hair, and her pale skin contrasted so well with her outfit that she looked like one of those models in those airbrushed magazines.

"Why are you dressed up?" Shizuo asked

She blinked "Did you forget? We're going on a date to celebrate."

"Our... engagement."

She snapped as if she had almost forgotten. "Right... that too."

She tilted her head in innocence. "Since you forgot I'll tell you what day it is."

Hisoné went on her toes to reach his lips in a swift movement.

He could only react when she kissed him lightly before she murmured three important words that made him feel like the luckiest person on Earth.

"Happy Birthday Shizuo"

And then she added "Thank you for being born into this world with your monstrous strength because without it we wouldn't have. And thank you for being you. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to be loved by you." She affectionately murmured hugging him tightly before letting go.

He smiled, of course she knew what he wanted to hear the most. It was better than any birthday gift. He took her cool left hand into his, gripping it tightly, but at the same time being conscious of his strength to feel the cold metal of her ring on his skin to make sure her answer was real.

As he took her hand she smiled her violet eyes glowing with happiness and asked "So? Shall we go eat?"

In return he answered gruffly "Yeah"

Normally he didn't celebrated his birthday, Kasuka would send him a birthday call, but that was about it. It was never a big occasion for him, but this time he was glad. He was glad he had this outrageous strength because he got to meet her, his violet eyed troublemaker.

He'd never tell her outright, but he figured, birthdays weren't so bad after all.

If it were birthdays spent with her.

And done Happy Belated Birthday to Shizuo.

Shizuo might be a little OOC but hopefully it makes up for the lack of updates.
