Hi, Guys! Cat and I are writing the chapter together! ENJOY!
*Sky's POV*
ShadowClan had been pressing against RiverClan's borders ever since we came to this world from Minecraft, and it was really starting to tick us off. Sure, they had the worst territory, barely enough prey to feed themselves, let alone feed the prey that lived there! And it was about time some cat did something about it. So it was that on the night of the new moon, Appleheart called upon a large group of us warriors to meet on the Gathering Island.
Grayspirit and Saplingnose were guarding the camp entrance tonight. That was good, since they hadn't been called to Appleheart's meeting and all. I nudged Skylight to her paws. She looked tired. Leafbare was here now, and because of the static electricity, my girlfriend looked like a giant brown puff-ball. I had to stifle a laugh as she shook out her fur and followed me out into the clearing.
We were the first to leave for the meeting, nodding our heads to the guards as we padded past them, out onto RiverClan's wide expanse of territory. The stars glittered brightly, and their light reflected down onto the small layer of snow that had covered the ground during the day. It was a beautiful night.
Skylight pressed her head into my shoulder softly as we padded along toward the Island. "What do you think Appleheart'll have us do?" she asks me, her voice quiet as not to disturb any prey we could eat tomorrow.
I shrug my dark brown shoulders, surprised at how much tension I feel in my muscles. The RiverClan cats have really strengthened us up since we joined them, and I suddenly don't feel terrified anymore at the thought that Appleheart might lead us into a battle. I was a seasoned warrior now. There was nothing to be scared of. Except, of course, never returning home to our blocky lives.
"Fight," I whisper, voicing my thoughts to Skylight. "We'll win, for sure."
But I can't help doubting my own words. Skylight isn't nearly as strong as I am right now, and she might not be able to fight off those dumb ShadowClan warriors as well as the rest of us can. I flex my claws, hoping I'll be able to protect her.
"Of course we will!" Skylight purrs as she brings her head away from me to gaze up at the glittering silver stars. "We should come out here more often. It's romantic."
I flinch at those words. Romance has never been something I really tend to like.
*Shamrockheart's POV*
Skyberry and Skylight had just let the camp. Now it was Deadheart's and my turn to get to the Island. I wasn't sure if he still liked me at all. Yesterday, when I walked past him out of the Dirtplace, he'd just turned his nose away from me as though I were a piece of dirt myself. Rude!
I tried to keep my distance from him as we headed out to the Island. Deadheart didn't seem to care, just plodded along ahead of me. Not wanting to be outrun, I sprinted past him, leapt onto the tree-bridge, and entered the Gathering clearing.
Appleheart was sitting on a tree root on the Great Oak. It seemed Deadheart and I had been the last two cats to arrive. I settled down myself beside Honeydew and Starface. They flicked their tails in greeting, but the leaders of the YOGSCASTs' eyes were fixed momentarily on Appleheart's green eyes.
"ShadowClan have been hunting our prey for too long," the reddish brown tabby wad growling. "It's time they payed!"
Yowls of agreement rose up from the RiverClan cats that were assembled.
"We attack now," Appleheart meowed, leaping off his root and leading us off the Island. We all plunged into the freezing cold water.
*Sky's POV*
"Hello, Skyberry," Pansyfur meowed as he paddled along beside me. "I know what you're thinking. About Skylight, I mean," he added, after I wondered, 'Does he really know I'm thinking about mushroom stew? 'Cause if he did, all the makers of that stew would kill me.' "You want to protect her. I can help you. You just need to promise to never turn your back on me, that's all."
I gazed into his forbidding amber eyes and nodded. "Anything to protect her."
Pansyfur smiled, nodded and swam away from me. "Nice doing business with you!" he called to me over his black-furred shoulder.
We clambered onto ShadowClan's shore, and I shook out my fur, my teeth chattering from the icy-cold waters I'd just submerged myself into. I followed the Clan onto ShadowClan's territory, only to feel teeth rip a chuck of flesh out of my shoulder.
"Graah!" I cried in pain, flipping around and tackling a ginger and white tom who I recognized from patrols as the Clan deputy, Foxtail.
I gripped his tail in my teeth and ripped, hearing him shriek. I clenched my jaws harder in satisfaction.
Then I let him go, and Foxtail zipped all the way back to camp.
"No! Appleheart!"
Time seemed to stand still as the cry tore through the air. Every cat stopped fighting, slowly turning to see Shamrockheart standing over a short black tom.
"Oh, no," the little tom meowed. "StarClan, I'm sorry! I don't care if I go to the Dark Forest right now! Just bring my father back to life!"
*Shamrockheart's POV*
I leaned down and licked Frostypaw between the ears, even though my entire body screamed at me not to. "It's okay," I whispered. "But he's not coming back."
I'd kept Appleheart's secret a long time. He'd told me how he had fallen in love with Karren (car-ren) , a loner she-cat who'd given birth to his twin sons, Frostypaw and Tinypaw. Keeping Tinypaw was hard, so he had given Frostypaw up to ShadowClan. And now Frostypaw had killed his own father.
Frostypaw spun around, tearing back into the forest from which he came. I glanced to the side where a limp, reddish furred body lay motionless on the side of the clearing. Appleheart.
But I wasn't prepared for the pain that came next.
Teeth ripped my neck open, and my entire neck convulsed in pain as fire seemed to surge forth from the wound instead of blood, covering my face as the cat tore through that, too, with his claws.
There was a shriek of horror, and that was all I remembered before the world went black, replaced only by the shimmering of a few stars, massing together and swirling down to meet me in my final moment alive.
*Sky's POV*
Shadenose stepped off of Shamrockheart's blood-covered body, her sharpened green eyes glinting with satisfaction. "It's been a long time since I've killed a cat," she growled, her voice laced with powerful emotions I couldn't understand. "Too long. ShadowClan, let's go!"
The ShadowClan cats tore away across the grass, and I watched their darkly-colored tails disappear into the undergrowth.
Slowly, my limbs numb from horror, I padded over to Shamrockheart's body. It lay limply beside Appleheart's, and I buried my nose in my friend's fur. Skylight soon joined me.
It had been 6 moons since we'd arrived here, 5 since Grayspirit and Saplingnose came.
A cry ripped through the air as the two toms came to join us. They arrived, panting, beside Appleheart's body.
"No…" Grayspirit whispered. "This is not what he wanted."
When I arrived back at camp, Mistystar called the meeting. Shamrockheart and Appleheart's bodies lay in the middle of the clearing, starlight shining down onto their fur.
"What happened tonight is unspeakable," Mistystar began, her voice grim and sorrowful together. "We lost a brave warrior and our deputy. However, StarClan came to me in a dream. We will not be burying Shamrockheart's body."
Cried of outrage rose from the Clan, but I saw some of us from Minecraft sigh in relief. We might be able to hold a funeral procession for her at home, when we returned. That is, if we returned.
"I say these words before the body of Appleheart," Mistystar began, naming the new deputy, "so that he may hear and approve my choice. Pansyfur will be the new deputy of RiverClan."
The black tom padded forward, slowly accepting his leader's offer. "My pleasure," he murmured, loud enough for us all to hear. "I shall not let Shamrockheart's passing be taken lightly. And rest assured that Appleheart's death will not have been in vain."
Mistystar beckoned the two apprentices forward. "Mysterypaw and Tinypaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and to protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of you lives?"
"I do," the cats meowed in unison.
"From this day forth, you shall be known as Mysteryheart and Tinyapple, your names in honor of the two great warriors who are not with us anymore, starting tonight. Let your names be memories of what a horrible day this has been for us all."
Both cats touched noses with their leader, their faces grim, as the rest of the Clan quietly whispered their new names.
The meeting was dismissed, and I went to speak with Pansyfur. "Please station a body guard with Skylight," I hissed. "I can't have her being harmed the way Shamrockheart was."
The deputy nodded in understanding, and padded away to speak with Daisypelt.
*Pansyfur's POV*
"Father!" I called, running into Ragingstorm's hide-out. "I became deputy! No cat can challenge me now! Except for you, of course, Master."
Ragingstorm chuckled, his voice dangerously quiet. "Let those you have entranced go," he growled. "I have a more terrible way for them to die."
Mwa ha ha ha ha ha ha! We are evil!
